JJ the barber is awesome. A great guy and a craftsman. The only person I trust with my beard. Oh yeah you can drink beer while he is working on you.

The new owner (Leland, I believe) is a dishonest and rude bully. I used to visit that place every week and tip well. Now I dont even feel welcome, and I have absolutely no idea why I was targeted (I think he believes Im homeless or something because I dont dress well when Im walking around town... thats done deliberately so that I dont have people target me with negative intentions).

Broken Spoke has already turned into a staple of the Hilltop area. Its take-it-easy and relaxed ambiance, paired with friendly and welcoming staff is amazing. Having a barber shop inside the bar is just awesome and a pure delight to experience in combination. Weekly events keep foot traffic up. You can tell the place doesnt have any stigmas for any group of people and are most welcoming - dog friendly as well. Outside food is welcome and there are amazing options right outside the door. Their stock of beers is constantly shifting with unique choices both nationally and internationally (imported). If youre in the Tacoma area and would like a spot to sit back and relax...this is it.

Just had my hair cut by Megan. Absolutely fantastic! I told her what I was trying to go for and she knew exactly what to do. Cant recommend this place enough. Im sure the other two barbers are excellent as well. The bar/barber setting is perfect too! Grab a beer and have a snack at the bar while you wait for your turn in the chair. This is now my go to place for a dapper looking cut!

I always have a great experience here getting a beer or a haircut. Ive never been let down by their barbers or their beer selection. I wont go anywhere else.

Great place the food is good. However its no longer Broken Spoke. Its a Vietnamese restaurant called Pho King.

JJ was awesome and the bar will be open 3pm to 8pm starting today 10/30. The nar will only be open Friday and Saturdays for now. Baber shop check online for appointments.

I recently moved into the area and went to a strip mall hair cut place, then a coworker told me about Broken Spoke. What a cool place! JJ the Barber was great. I told him how I have worn my hair for the past few years, but to do what he felt worked.I can’t say enough about Broken Spoke. I’ll be back! Plus the beers were great.

Love Broken Spoke! Great neighborhood bar with a large selection of beers, wine on tap, pool table, barber shop & a fun trivia night. They are always doing something interesting with art shows & music. Little food but what they have is great and youre allowed to bring in other food from neighboring restaurants. How cool is that?

As a semi balding man trying to maintain the semblance of youth that he once had, JJ gives a 10/10 hair cut. His hands with the trimmer are so steady i would trust him to perform my childs ceremonial briss. Good beer, dope staff, cool bathroom signs. Go here. Great local brews on tap! They dont really accommodate walk-ins for the barber so make sure to book ahead of time. Cool spot though.

Chris does an excellent job, best barber in Tacoma by far and I just moved here from Alabama. Great service from the folks at the bar too. Never ending list of craft beer, they know their stuff too! Beer prices were also very reasonable. The owner and his staff made me feel at home. I will absolutely be back!

This is hands down the best place to chill, drink beer, play some pool, and oh yeah, get an amazing haircut by some great barbers!! This place is like heaven.... hahaha! But really, its great!!

This place was nice. They have a good selection of beers and apple ciders and they do food contests. The place is super clean, the staff are really friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. Also, (I know this is weird) I have a habit of noting the cleanliness of bathrooms all over Washington (Ive seen some truly weird bathrooms) the bathroom in this place is notable. Like, everyone that used it came out talking about how cool it was... lol it was the weirdest thing.

This is a great little place to grab a beer and chill. They have a big selection of canned beer (many of them local) that is always rotating, so you can try something new every time you stop in. There are some beers on tap, as well as wine. The owners and the rest of the staff are really friendly too! Highly recommend.

I rated three stars, not because of any customer service or atmosphere. Both are wonderful. But fantasy. I rated this place 3 starts because I think the prices are to high for the area. I understand that business do that to not include people that are of the poorer nature. But, I think it is unethical to do so after moving to a lower income neighborhood for cheaper rent, then making the people that live there unable to afford your goods. Keeping out who seems undesirable (your right) to you, in their own neighborhood (seems wrong to me.)I will change my rating, if I come back and see that hair cuts are affordable to those who live there.Im not talking about the beer prices. But haircuts should be at least affordable to the local people. Everyone deserves a hair cut.

I have been here for beer and haircuts. All the bartenders are very knowledgeable about the beer and can help you find a beer you want, whatever your tastes. I have specifically had Georgette and Christy cut my hair and both have worked hard to give me a haircut specific to my face and what I asked for. Would absolutely recommend to anyone interested in great beer and a great barber experience.

Came in for a haircut and showed a photo of what I liked and sort of how I wanted it cut and all I got as an answer was how he didnt like that. So he cut it how he wanted and then didnt even style it at the end or touch the long part of my hair. Not a complete haircut and a quiet barber. Do not recommend. $30 for a haircut I do not enjoy.

My friend loves it. They usually have a licensed barber. Drinks are in can or bottle, unfortunately that means cola too. So my soda is over priced. Unique atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a beard sculptor make an appointment with Georgette! I had a hard time finding a barber i could trust with my beard and my search is over. All the barbers here are very good, and the bar is my new favorite hang out spot.

Great brews, knowledgable amd friendly staff, nicely priced haircuts however limited availability due to the amount of barber chairs. I recommend making an appointment but dont let that stop you from coming in for one of their many beers, wines or even a mimosa.

This is just the type of place Tacoma needs. Chris is a master with the straight razor and clippers in his hands. The owner Joe is recreating something special here. Quality well priced beers, inexpensive cuts and shaves and even the bathroom impressed the hell outta me!

With Georgette I know I am safe and acceptance as LGBTQ, the staff and patronage accept me in a come as you are feel, with the great tacoma grit city life.And when you have six wines on tap, coolers of beer (for here or to go), it’s the only place in the 253 where I will treat myself to an excellent cut and clean up, with a brew in hand.

Hands down worst haircut I’ve ever gotten. Chris cut my hair and it was awful. Had to explain the haircut twice and still management to mess it up. I guess that’s what happens when you cut hair when you’re stoned. Not worth 25.00 at all

I cant say enough great things about this place. Went there for the first time yesterday on the advice of my brother and couldnt be happier. Came in early and had an IPA I had never seen before and then one of the best cuts Ive ever had. This is now my go to place for hanging out at the bar and/or haircuts. Wife says I look great. Cant get any better than that.

Im not sure that they really fix bikes here. I asked about getting my breaks fixed and they said they couldnt do it. I was surprised they couldnt do something so basic. The staff is also kind of mean, and gossip about some of their regulars. Ive been sold special beers, which I believe is code for free samples from distributors. In addition, they only have one bathroom, which is rarely clean. I wont be returning.

Was refered here by Buzzerds as they were booked up. After my beer, hair cut, and beard trim Im glad Buzzerds was full. Great selection of canned beers and ciders, great atmosphere, and the barbers are military vets that know their craft! Only down side is they do not serve food which I would have docked a star but they allow patrons to being their own food from outside so right back up to five. This is my new barber.
