Good experience for the past 5 years servicing our four cars (Chevrolet, Honda, Volkswagen, Hyundai) ranging from scheduled oil change to more complex mechanical issue. Sam and his teams are pretty good also at diagnostics (take them on a test drive to pin point that annoying rattle noise for example). Communication with Sam is good (phone & email) and their availability is usually same day or within three days. Although they are much better than average, estimates have been off a few times (but still very reasonable) and had to return a couple of times for what was an incomplete job. Overall highly recommended.
Sam is super thorough and really cares about you and your cars. He got my transmission problems figured out and had me back on the road in no time. I’ve never felt like I was in better hands. First Auto beat out every other quote I found in the South Bay. I’ll never go to another mechanic.
I rarely write reviews but I felt I absolutely had to share my experience with First Auto. Had my front brakes repaired on my Infiniti Q60 and the experience was very no nonsense. Repairs were explained and quote given before work began and the turn around was lightning fast. It can be difficult to find honest, high quality, and quick service but I definitely found all 3 here. I would highly recommend!
I truly appreciate the First Auto Team!! Theyve always been straight forward with sincerity on what work needs to be done to be safe on the road. They recommend whats best for my car and provide awesome advice for continued maintenance. From small to big issues (oil changes - rebuilding front wheel suspension), theyve always provided a solid solution. Everytime Ive brought in my car, Ive never been disappointed. First Auto is conveniently located to Sunnyvale caltrain / TownCenter in case you need to leave car for service. Ill continue to recommend them to family and friends!
Reliable low cost and trustworthy. Sam provided me with a great service in a timely manner.
Ive taken both my Mini Cooper and BMW to First Auto! Awesome job!
I broke down across the street in the mall parking lot. While I was there under my hood, one of the employees (Andy) noticed me and came over to help. After helping me tinker for 5 minutes he said he worked at the shop and would help me push it there (either I get it up and running or they would fix it for me the next day). The owner, Sam, was locking up when we pushed the car in. Andy helped me tinker around for another 10-15 minutes and then I decided to throw in the towel and let them fix it. Left my key under the door with a note and left. Car up and running the next day by 3PM.Sam and Andy were both very helpful and accommodating. The rates charged for diagnostic and repair were very reasonable given Bay Area rates and the part was par with the price from a reputable parts dealer. All in all, I was very happy to have broken down there. Didn’t have to order a tow, wait, figure out where to take it, etc. and was dealt with fairly and reasonably.
I have been to this shop numerous times and the service here is always outstanding. I’ve taken my 2008 C-Class here for maintenance and a few repairs and have always been impressed with the mechanics and staff. Sam is very friendly and always delivers a quality product. Every time I take my car in, it is finished either on time or early. I have referred this place to friends and they all thank me for it. I think First Auto Service is the best shop to take your car to.
Dont go. He called me thrice and harassing me for -ve review..what the heck? He wanted $40 for front light change one side. Then changed his mood, and wanted extra $60 for oil change to make it round. Later he wanted to increase price after finishing everything in 23 minutes and said he is not happy with $100. I said I cannot pay more than what I agreed esp. when the work took less than 30 minutes for $100. He then said I must go and bring back cash will not accept credit card. I went to ATM in a nearby restaurant, paid etc to withdraw cash, then settled him $100. Later will not give receipt. When I started the car, I found he did not reset service required button and when I asked he started blaming Indians with racists words.
Got problem with check engine light on and brought it here to first auto. Spent $1200+ to replace the hood and spark plugs, they fixed it and the second day oil filter light turns on and oil start leaking. Had to bring it back to check again. Sam was nice to provide a loaner car, but I got a flat tire and found there was no tools to replace the spare tire, and the spare tire size is not right. Dont know what to say..And this is not over. I had to tow the car and repute the tire myself. The tire guy said it was caused by a chrome issue, which means the tired was slowly leaking air from the beginning, not driving issue. So... they were providing a loaner car with severe reliability issue! After they finally ‘fixed’ the car and got back to me, it start leaking oil the other day. Had to bring it back and wait for another 2 weeks. And got the car again. The next day the check engine light is on. I don’t know how many time do I need to come here to get all the problem resolved. And it’s still going on. Every time they ‘fix’ a problem seems to cause a new problem. It was a 2011 bmw so not too old car, shouldn’t be a too hard issue.I feel one star is too easy for them. Through all this process Sam the owner didn’t even feel bad for it and say a single word SORRY. I don’t know how this business works. If you plan to go to first auto, I wish you the best of luck.
Good service and honest auto shop. They open on Sat so I always drop off my car for service. Price is reasonable and I usually can get it back same day even for some big job.
Took advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge, installed brake kit backwards and lied about needing a rebuilt transmission.Had work done in late October and was told it would take only one day. Hour before they closed they said it wouldnt be done untill the next day. Almost had to spend the night in a Dennys because there was a University football game and all the hotels and motels were booked. Van acting funny so I tried to open the hood to test the battery and discovered that my hood latch was broken. Took it back to have them. Employee mechanic said he fixed my hood for free but told me that my transmission was going to fail within the next 3 to 6 month, would need a rebuilt transmission and my transmission fluid needed to be filled immediately and charged me $100.Talked to mechanic friends online who encouraged me to get a second opinion. Went to a mechanic in another county I trusted who did a thorough inspection. Not only do I NOT need a rebuilt transmission, the transmission fluid was not full, rear brakes were installed incorrectly and the radiator hose leak they (First Auto) was supposed to fix, is still leaking - I (and a local agency that helped) was charged for a new hose to replace that leak. After leaving a angry voicemail, he calls me back and tells me I misunderstood. Im filing a complaint with CA Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Automotive Repairs3/7/19 UPDATE: Im at a mechanic shop now & the owner took me under my van and showed me how my BRAND NEW RADIATOR (from first auto) is leaking from three different places! Im contacting a lawyer now. 😡
My brakes were supposedly fixed two weeks ago, but they still haven’t been fixed and I am taking my car to a different auto service. Sam is just wasting my money and time and gets paid for NOT fixing my brakes. If he doesn’t know how to fix my brakes- he should’ve just told me.
Called several places around Sunnyvale on a Sunday afternoon for an oil change quote. Majority of the shops I reached were closed, and the few that were open were asking for around $45 for a V6 Accord. Luckily, I came across First Auto Services number. Not only were they open, but they also only charged 2/3 of the least expensive quote that I received. To top it off, the Mechanic that helped me, Sam, was very courteous and efficient. My service was completed somewhere between 10 - 15 minutes. All in all, I had a very good experience at First Auto Service. I even told Sam that I will start brining my other cars to his shop.
I have a bad experience with this place. I was about to buy a car and asked them if they are doing pre-purchase inspection. I specifically asked them if they check everything, engine, transmission, and many other details that I might have missed.Sam only made a drive test with me around 20 minutes. After the ride, he told me to parts that are problematic about the car, even the transmission oil and many other stuff. He told that all fixes would cost around $1300. However, they didnt check anything after the test ride even though he said that there are many things that needs to be replaced. He immediately printed the bill that I had to pay $100 just for the test drive.Normally in pre-purchase inspections, they use lifts and inspect the cars from end to end, and it generally takes more than an hour. Paying $100 only for 20 minutes test drive was not a good experience.
Staff are friendly and seem to really care for your vehicle.
I have a good experience with this place, friendly guys .
These guys are the best.
