I cannot say I don’t have issues with my mail because I do, but I do file a claim online and every time a lady named Dee contacts me back in a timely manner. She is extremely friendly and helpful and does her best to fix the situation. I REALLY do appreciate her she deserves to be recognized!
On a Friday, I ordered something online for next day delivery, which is quite expensive. And it estimated its delivery to be Saturday, and i check the USPS tracking and my package is IN MY CITY AT THE POSTAL OFFICE, and it says “estimated delivery, Wednesday” But my other package from UPS that i also ordered on Friday seems to come in on time. Mmm interesting. So now i wasted my money because they don’t wanna do their job right.
I wish I could leave a good review, i do get some packages but I’ve ordered a notebook it says it’s been delivered and out in my mailbox, but it wasn’t there. This wasn’t the first time this happened unfortunately. I left a note saying my package had not come and they took it, I recently got a pencil case, but still no notebook. Still wondering what happened to it.
Im actually filing a formal complaint on the mail man that does our route. At first he was putting mail from our neighbors mailbox in our box. So I showed him which box was which thinking it would help. Nope . Now he returns mail saying our mail box and business do not exist. And also he gives us no notice that hes returning our mail. Its the young black mail man with the short fro and glasses. Please find him a more suitable position
I would give zero stars if possible. My package is being held at the post office at my request even though I made no such request. Tried to call, but failed as all I could get were recorded messages. The delivery person drove past my house and made no attempt to deliver the package. Now, it is being help at the Shaw AFB post office where I must pick it up. Only problem... I am not allowed on the Air Force Base! What a disaster!
Possibly one of the worst places I have ever been, a package was suppose to be delivered to my house on (8/2) but it said “delivery attempted, held at post office” when I went there to get my package they said they were gonna deliver it the same day I went there (8/3) in fact it actually never came and there was no reason that the delivery couldn’t be done. Reason being my older sister had order some other stuff from Wayfair and it came no problem with no complains. When I came to get my package they said they were gonna deliver it on (8/3) but it never actually came that day and till this day it still at the post office. Same thing happened with my other package.
I truly do not understand the management of the USPS here in Sumter. I have lived in numerous states and towns, not once have I ever had any delivery issues. For whatever reason this post office simply refuses to even attempt delivering packages to apartments. No matter how small the package, it could even be an envelope for crying out loud, they do not deliver it. I have to drive across town and wait 30 minutes in line with everyone else whos package was not delivered and hope they didnt lose it in the bowels of the post office.I dont know if they are understaffed, lazy, given instructions to avoid package delivery, I dont really care why. Its just downright unacceptable and embarrassing for the United States Postal Service to not deliver anything. It is literally their job, and they cannot do it. I am at a loss here.Upper management here in the Sumter USPS, I hope you see this and do something, because anything is better than what youre doing now.
Worst PO I’ve ever dealt with. Postman/lady to lazy to deliver package on 2 separate occasions. Good thing they don’t get paid by package delivery or they’d be broke n living on streets.
Terrible experience. I had a package that was never delivered. The tracking number said that it was being held at the facility (3/29) per customer request. I never requested that it be held. Had to reach out to the company I ordered my package from to understand the delay in shipping, they informed me it was being held by the post office. Went to the post office (4/7) and they couldnt find the package. Employee said she had no idea where it went. Said to give it a few days and see if it came in the mail. Over a week later (4/15) package still not delivered. Called the customer service line and the automated system told me it was being held at the post office since (3/29). When I repeatedly asked for a customer representative because obviously they do not update their tracking system the system hung up on me and said sorry I need to serve other customers now. So if the post office has no clue what happened to my package and you are unable to speak with a human representative over the phone, how do you find a lost package?
Worst customer service Ive ever experienced. I came to drop off a simple package and Ive had a long day at work. Every last worker was rude and I hope they all get fired! Dont sign up for a job and treat the customers poorly, because you dont like it.
Packages don’t magically just disappear !!! Especially not when I’m home all day waiting and get a notification that the package was left at the door !!! Please do your jobs correctly and stop lying!!
Tracking info says delivered when its out for delivery, held for pickup when its out for delivery, out for delivery when its being held for pickup. They dont leave slips half the time notifying me of a package. They dont even attempt to deliver it to me at my apartment, they only carry with them what will fit in the box and then hold the rest at the post office while claiming attempted delivery. An absolute joke of a post office desperately in need of new management.
Ive lived here for months, and the staff had always been rude. Ive never had an issue picking up packages though, until today. Wouldnt allow me to pick up a package my husband ordered, even when I showed two different forms of proof of ID. The guy ahead of me provided nothing and had no issue. Wth post office?
Would give zero stars if possible. ZERO attempt made to deliver anything to my apartment nor do they use the parcel lockers we have. Without fail no matter the size of the object it’ll say “delivery attempt made” and then “Carrier is unable to gain access to front door to deliver the package. Please contact the carrier to resolve”. I do not live in a gated community and no signature was required. I constantly get mail for the wrong address and now I’ve gotten a package that says “delivered inside the residence mailbox” but alas, my box is empty. And let’s not even get started on physically going to the PO to resolve this and pick up packages yourself. They’re worse in person.
Your entire staff needs to be retrained on Poster 7...Rules of Conduct on Postal Property. Public Photography is NOT a crime...falsifying police reports IS however a crime. Your post office should have audits daily at this point until you people get it...

Im ALWAYS having missing mail. The mail will run in my neighborhood but dont go down all the roads. I have informed delivery and my debit card was supposed to be in my mail box Friday and the mail man was on the other road and never came down mine
Supposedly my package is being held at the post office by my request. I never requested that nor do they have my package. This is ridiculous. The item I ordered is a rare book worth a fair bit. This is insane.
They never seem to want to leave packages for my wife and I. We live in an apartment complex with plenty of free and open parcel lockers, and we still get updates stating our packages are held at the post office for pickup. We couldn’t even get a couple salt and pepper shakers we ordered online.They never actually leave a message in our mailbox either. The only way we’d know is by following package tracking. We also haven’t gotten a single piece of mail in over a week, junk or otherwise. I have 0 trust that we’re actually getting our mail. Also, good luck getting ahold of them by phone, it just rings and rings and rings until disconnect. You’d be lucky to have anyone actually pick up the line.Seems like no one here could be bothered to care about the importance of delivering mail, it’s really unfortunate.

If I could leave no star and comment I would. I have video of a driver slowing down in front of my home, didnt even get out and marked that they ran into an issue when trying to deliver, yeah, you just didnt get out of the vehicle to deliver!
Absolutely the worst Postal Service. Employees are rude and unprofessional. Called about my mail not being delivered and employee ( not postmaster) continue to over talk me and disregard my concerns on the mail that is not being delivered. I understand that they are unstaffed however there is no reason for my mail to be delivered at the 5 o’clock every day. Postmaster definitely needs to speak with employees on customer etiquette. Well be taking this future because this is NOT Acceptable
Can u maybe get it together? Multiple times my things aren’t delivered simply because you claim you “can’t access the delivery location” when the mail box is right there...not blocked, not hidden, just sitting in plain sight. It’s like you people act like you don’t know how a post office is supposed to work. I have witnessed a mail lady not deliver my mail because she came down the opposite direction of the mailbox and just decided to say it was inaccessible. Pure laziness. Not to mention if I ever get the mail to begin with its almost 7:00 at night

Horrible mail carrier ... the person who delivers the mail is awful. Literally every time I’m supposed to have a package delivered it says out for delivery all day but never arrives then says it went back to the post office for pick up and when I go to pick up package they say it went back out for delivery. I live in an apartment complex where all of the boxes are in one place so it’s not hard. The mail carrier that services my apartment comp needs to be retrained. At the post office it self the ladies that work there are older and super sweet but definitely need extra help, they do their best but there is not enough employees for the volume of customers they get daily.
Whoever is in charge of hiring people for this post office needs to be fired. An entirely new team should be Hired. My first question would be what happens to all the packages this office marks as undeliverable or attempted delivery? Because there seems to be complaint after complaint after complaint about people never receiving their packages. My second question Why would you let the phone continuously ring over and over then pick up simply to hang up the phone? Hands-down the worst service I’ve ever had the miss fortune of having. I have been informed from another post office (whom I called simply to receive better service and truthful answers) that federal regulations require every single post office in the United States to follow The same strict regulations put forth by the federal government. Specifically In my case in regards to how long they’re allowed to keep a package. 30 days is not how long you should be keeping packages 15 days is the maximum time allotted to every post office in the country according to the usps Website. And after reading all of the reviews for this particular post office I now understand why my package was held way past the time when it should have been sent back to me. Employees at this particular post office please understand you’re not doing people a favor you’re hired to do a job. there’s an exchange of services here.....,people come in and give you their hard earned money to receive good service from the post office. Regardless of the size of package, trust it will not be delivered to your apartment complex. Don’t order anything, not even a pair of socks, unless you are ok with picking it up yourself.
Hello, I was very upset because whenever I would order Amazon packages such as dog food or diapers, they wouldnt leave a message/note to pick up or give me any reason for why I would have to wait for the package(s) finally I called and after the 4 call I had an answer that the package would be sent. But next day no package...so I went in and asked to speak to the manager. She explained to me that the people that work at the post office cant lift the heavy packages, that I can choose the option to order the items in fewer or more boxes and if you select fewer the boxes come in too heavy, the mail carriers can lift those boxes. That many of them has been out on injury as well due to the heavy packages coming in. Im a compassionate person and understand if the people are unable then there isnt much that can be done. However...maybe they could use truck hands/Dollys to lift and wheel items to front door, so they wont have to lift or carry at least? Also maybe hiring some people capable to lift heavy packages and send them on a heavy package route Im being serious...there has to be a solution. Post office people are actually very kind and I truly believe they are good people. I just wish there was more effort that could be done so that all packages could be delivered and mail carriers could complete their jobs without having upset customers.
Have a big issue with the PO in Sumter SC. Tracking package that was scheduled to be delivered today. It is a small package with no signature required that fits in the regular mailbox. Did not get delivered and tracking info states that delivery was attempted and item is being held at PO at customer Request. This is a lie! They. Never attempted or tried to deliver (did get 1 piece of junk mail) and I never talked to them about holding the item! Forget trying to talk to a person at the PO. All U get is a recording. Totally unsay!!!
Not the first time this has happened. Yesterday a package was supposed to be delivered according to tracking instead the tracking shows it leaving the post office out for delivery then returning back to the same post office. Today I get a notification on my phone that delivery was attempted but there is nothing next to the door, anywhere on my property and no notes in the mail box. I call the 800 number to try and figure out whats up and get told that they did leave a note. No they didnt, there is nothing! Now its coming up on a holiday and I am being told the package I should have received yesterday will be delivered, at best, Monday a full 5 days late, again at best.Note, there is no reason this should be attempted it either is or isnt as this package does not require any kind of signature.

Terribly lazy mail carriers! On multiple occasions we’ve had packages that were out for delivery and ended with them saying, “that an attempt was made but there was no secure location.” We literally have big secure boxes meant for packages at our apartment complex and they won’t bother to walk to our door and try knocking. The delivery people do not care at all and won’t put In the slightest effort, which is evident from all the other bad reviews. The call center is just as bad with the recordings taking you in circles and not helping at all. Absolutely terrible all around.
They refused to deliver a package I had from Amazon once even though the box was definitely small enough to fit in the secure drop off I have at my apartment. Also got the notification at about 6 in the morning well before any delivery people ever make it to my apartments so obviously they didnt even put it on the delivery truck to try. Worst post office Ive ever dealt with in my life. Even the customer service counter isnt any better, they barely treat you like a number. Picked up a package once that they refused to deliver and the lady behind the counter just put my box on the counter for me to pick up, said literally NOTHING to me during that process and walked away to help the next person.
I visited this Post Office today and was confused as to how to get into the entrance. There are no signs that say entrance, however, I turned around into a little drive way that says do not enter and there is a little entrance there to turn in. However the post office was packed and only two workers are at the windows. I was not too happy but considering the covid 19 situation must be the reason. I would recommend if you dont mind waiting in a long line.

Mail carrier literally will never attempt to deliver anything. Sometimes leaves a note saying they tried, but they dont. Ive been home in the front yard when she dropped off that note. Absolutely horrible. Now theyre holding items I bought at request of customer claiming they left a notice on the 12th. None was ever found. Constantly mixes neighborhood mail. Ive gotten at least 20 different peoples mail.

I honestly haven’t had any major issues with this USPS office. Sometimes service is slow but it’s only when there a lot of people when I go. The office does seem a bit unorganized when’s it comes to missed deliveries but over all the service has been good. Hopefully I won’t have problems soon after I post this 🤣
My front porch is filled with packages that dont belong to me and have a different street address. I cant help the postal employee or contractor read the address because she arrives at 6:15am. She cant/wont read so my porch just fills up. This morning, it was too much of an effort to pile up the packages, so she just dumped them on the sidewalk in the rain. Evidently, she has an aversion to the step at the front porch. Covid or not, this is the poorest customer service Ive seen yet were paying her salary... Other industries do not forego customer service because of covid. And front porches dont impact the ability to read or the ability to climb a step to get packages out of the rain. I suppose Im supposed to pile the packages into my car and either return them to the post office (whats the use if they will just return to my front walk?) or maybe USPS assumes Ill take on carrier duties for free in lieu of doing my own job? Im just working from home so why not do everyone elses job because they dint feel like doing it? Good grief.

Sumter USPS will leave an attempted delivery notice even though they never have nor intended to deliver the item 🤬I was going to go pick up pizzas. I saw that the postman is still at the mailbox, so I went to check if my package arrived. It would be fine if it hasn’t. But instead, the dude went through the bin in his truck and pulled out an attempted delivery notice that was already filled out that they tried the first delivery. Like...no, you didn’t because you didn’t even have the package in the truck!We have heard excuses in the past that they can’t fit the packages (even though the apartment has delivery boxes that could fit most of the packages), and we were getting a bunch of attempted delivery notice.I can’t trust them now. 😒

The first time I had an issue with these people, on of their drivers delivered my package to the WRONG ADDRESS and the manager at that time, got an attitude with me when I told her she should find a driver that can read. I received a notification at 9:24 this am stating my package was delivered. I got dressed, went to pick up my package, THAT WASNT THERE! I get here, one of the workers here acted as if she didnt care that my package was gone. She has red hair and she’s rude for nothing! If you guys DONT have to get your mail sent here, please DONT! They do NOT care about the people or their items! As the Christians would say, Unjust dont prosper! Thankfully, the new manager DOES care!
If I could give a lower review I would. Ive had multiple packages delivered to the wrong address costing me hundreds, as well as multiple failed delivery attempts. Like, 8 in a row. Forcing me to go pick them up in person, only for them to tell me that they cant find my packages, and that theyre probably riding around in the back of a delivery truck with no intention of being delivered. I would literally rather move to West Berlin and starve to death than live in the area code this post office handles.
Don’t go here for a passport photo. They obviously don’t know what they are doing and your application will be rejected right before your trip. Also, you can’t talk to anyone on the phone if you have concerns. They say you can leave a message, but their mailbox is full, because obviously they never listen to their messages because they don’t care about their customers.

Constant fake delivery attempts! Ill receive emails stating a delivery was attempted somehow when Ive been at home all day. The driver has yet to deliver any sort of mail despite leaving an imaginary notice. Ive complained and literally opened dozens of cases against this particular post office. Hopefully this review gets some attention! Even after two surgeries, I still manage to walk up to where I live on the third floor of my apartment complex. Whats the point of having Amazon Prime when I have to drive to pick up my package days after when it was supposed to be delivered? Some days the supervisor will blame the driver and vice versa. Ill blame pure laziness and sheer incompetence. So with documentation as proof, I know for fact a person(s) is purposefully pre-filling notices based solely on box sizes. It must be nice to work around the system just to deliver only paper mail and small boxes to one central area. Walk up some stairs and do your freaking job! Even people in prison get their mail on time. This has to be illegal so I hope everyone involved gets fired.
Sumter Main Street PO is the worst! Believe the bad reviews. For years it has been the same complaints, same symptoms, same lack of care and service. Its terrible to pay for a mail delivery service and have the folks who are supposed to deliver your mail, say they tried when they obviously did not. I consider myself lucky that I have not had anything stolen as others have claimed. I can believe those claims as most the other concerns and issues match my own. They should be shut down until they can fix that operation from the top on down. Heck, I used to work for FedEx and I know your bosses can put pressure on you to make stops or deliveries a certain way but my goodness, these people dont even bother to try. That attitude comes from the top. 4 stars for the nice lady that works the front office when I am lucky enough to go when she is there. 1/16th for the delivery people.

Highly disappointed in the service or rather, lack there of at this location. No one answers the phone ever, long wait times, and the passport personnel are more concerned with themselves than the customer. Having waited 20 minutes for our appointment, someone finally came out and said well we can’t see you now and you’ll have to go to Columbia. Why have us sit, wait, and waste our time up until lunch time if you had no intention of honoring our allotted appointment time. There was no phone communication on their end and not like we could call in since again, no one answers the phone there. As a military family with limited time before trips “nothing” could be done per this individual. Absolutely unacceptable. Wish I could give less than one star.

They steal so badly and everyone but one gentleman has a attitude. I’ve had package “not found” or “undeliverable” but speaking to the post master, he had the carrier turn around and hand it to me. When he contacted her to turn around she told him she just put it in my box, I said she didn’t come back because I was on the porch waiting. He was shocked. She came back and said it wasn’t on her truck. When I told her i was on the phone with her boss she handed it to me. THEIF.Recently a package was “undeliverable” “address not found” “return to sender” but she was sitting in front of my mailbox with it. I contacted them and go up there and the package was perfectly fine and address was clear as day.

We had two packages that were supposed to be delivered today (Saturday) at 620p.m. saying delivered package ready for pickup. I called the automated system said taken to post office by request of the customer. We did not request this and we were home for delivery. Mail Car was on our road but never made it down to our house. Now my daughter will have to wait till you are open for me to go get it. If I could I would mark this as zero stars!

Ordered a few packages on Amazon and the person who delivered them put them in a puddle under a waterfall created from my roof in the pouring rain instead of in my dry car port with a door attached! Ruined all my Christmas packages! Didnt even knock or ring the door bell! I am furious right now! I mean they legit made sure they put them directly under the water fall in a puddle! Careless and rude!!!!
Had 2 trackable packages delivered at same time by USPS, but one never made it to my door. If someone was going to steal packages after they were delivered, the people would have taken both packages. Love my mail delivery people, NOT! Now, I get to make a trip to the post office to file a missing package report.

Poor service. They also quote prices much higher than online estimators or other post offices. Also the package drop box is locked at very random times. Service has always been slow and (usually) rude there. I avoid this place as much as possible for the above reasons!

If I could give them .5 stars I would. We had packages and mails opened and stolen in a span of a week. Hell they even opened a mail sent from our previous apartment hoping there is a security deposit check in there. This USPS is garbage and I hope it gets shut down. It is such a hassle waiting for weeks to get another one of our packages back hoping it will even get here the second time.
This is the second time in a year that my package information on the USPS site say that they tried to deliver and I requested that it be held at the post office. This package was supposed to be delivered Monday, was pushed back to Tuesday - was in transit at the end of that day, and today, Wednesday, it is now being held at the post office at my request and they tried to deliver it at 6:30 pm - to a full house of people and no one saw or heard anything. USPS - please get your act together.

The customer service here is the worst. Been using this location for over 10 years and have yet to see a friendly staff member. Most of the people working at this location act like you’re inconveniencing them just by coming in and that handling your needs is a hassle. Clearly these worked have some sort of tenure as it’s unbelievable they keep their jobs with the poor attitude and customer service.
I was notified that a package was delivered at the front door or porch. I get home and the package is not there. I have seen before where the postal service marks it delivered and never even had it. Very frustrated!!

This will be my second complaint. Carrier delivered my mail minus my package. Email said delivered to mailbox. It was not. Called Sumter post office put on hold for an hour and a half only to be hung up on. Now on hold again for another hour to file complaint and nothing.
Waited for my package today. They said they arrived at 6:38PM, but no knock on the door and no notice. Having to wait an extra day to receive my package because of laziness on their part. What makes me really upset is that they lied and said they left a notice. I looked in the mail, on the door, everywhere and theres nothing out there. I understand time is important when delivering mail, but time shouldnt allow you to be utterly or inappropriately lazy.
This place is literally worthless. Long story short i changed my delivery instructions to be electronically approved to be delivered regardless if I home or not because they kept lying saying they tried to deliver it. Now I got a printout and on it someone wrote we dont deliver packages because of stairs you will have to come pick it up??? Who does that last I checked you still get paid so do your job

The employees at this post office are ALWAYS rude, rush you through the line as fast as possible. I hate having to go to the post office in Sumter. I wont go here anymore if I dont have to. Go to the ones in the Piggly Wigglys, they are usually friendly and dont have ridiculous lines and attitudes.
An absolute disgrace in customer service. They open at 9:30am not 9, after showing up at 9am I waited thirty minutes for them to open the doors where I proceeded to a clerk to pick up a package. The clerk pointed to the unmanned package delivery desk where I proceeded to wait 30 more minutes for a clerk to assist me. While waiting the thirty minutes at the empty parcel pick up area I watched the same clerk who had pointed me to the area assist six other customers, he then was asked by a woman which line she needed to stand in to pick up a package where he proceeded to say it’s your choice you can get packages in both lanes. Upon hearing this news I questioned why I was sent to an empty Parcell pick up area when the gentleman could have helped me in the first place instead of making me sit for 30 minutes without being helped. Once the head clerk noticed that myself and others behind me had been waiting for an unreasonable amount of time, The original clerk who had sent me to the empty station said he would take care of me. Once I walked up to the desk where he was standing I gave him my tracking number and my license so he could get my package he said that my package would be delivered by the carrier although I was presenting him with a notification email saying I needed to pick up my package from the office, once he took my information and went to look for my package he came up empty-handed and said he would call me if they ever found my package. I sat at the post office for an hour from the time they were supposed to open according to their online hours until the time I was dismissed due to their lack of customer service and this particular rude clerks carelessness. If you have the option to have packages or any other inquiries dealt with at another location I highly recommend you do so, even if it’s further away, it’s well worth the drive.
This location is ran without any exspirence.Employees are Rude Slow and will NEVER admit fault.I think it needs new guidance starting from the top.It does it’s share of business but a lot of customers are not happy with the daily long lines.Its just NOT be run under proper leadership.I Highly Recommend going to a different locationLESS STRESSFUL!!!
Has been holding my mail and packages for 3 weeks and wont give it to me!
Customer service behind counter at the.main post office, 9 dec 2019 at 910am is poor and should not be working with customers.
Lines during peak hours are very bad. They are more of a get in get out customer service style. I purchased a new house, and they didnt start PICKING up my mail until several days later, even when I live beside houses and had my red flag up. You know the old saying, you pay with peanuts you get monkeys. Not a friendly crew there and just waiting for the time to get off work.
It’s ridiculous that you can’t rely on tracking or the people who run these delieveries. It’s like a battle with them every time just to get a package YOU PAID SHIPPING FOR!! I don’t understand how this office can be so horrible. I don’t know if it’s the area we live in or what, but this office needs to be cleared of bad employees. If I have to go pick a package up one more time I will lose my sh**.
Service is usually good for me I dont go if I have to rush because I know how it is no competition so no worries, same people so what can you expect.Complaints should be made to the post master general whom ever that is good luck but dont give up even if you have to the governor theres a anwser
Worst costumer service I have ever seen, very unprofessional, unfriendly workers. I always have to go pick up my packages because they ALWAYS hold at post office. Rediculous.

Rude attitudes, always hold my packages due to full parcel, just overall unprofessionalism. I ordered a mattress from amazon, asked if they deliver heavy objects such as mattresses to apartments. The representative on the phone told me yes. Waited half the day, called back talked to the SAME representative and was told they dont deliver large items such as mattresses to apartments. I missed an entire day of work due to their false information.

I cannot count the number of times Ive received their sorry we missed you oak papers and Ive been HOME! Today I received a text message at 7:16am saying they TRIED to deliver a package and a notice was left. Not only was I HOME and AWAKE at the time THERE WAS NOT A NOTICE LEFT! Ive called the post office SEVERAL times since they opened at 10am AND NO ANSWER!! So waiting until Monday to see if theyll actually deliver my package!!
Whenever i order packages online that come in the plastic wrap my mail carrier always pokes a hole in my items to look Inside. I have taken multiple pictures and have tried calling but i cant get anyone on the phone.
Sick of going there to pick up items that couldve been delivered to the parcel boxes. The employees are rude and act as if youre giving them too much to do just by asking for one package. They dont even leave pickup slips half the time. That said, this is Sumter. Nothing will change.

They never answer their phones and have thrown away packages that I couldn’t get back in town fast enough to pick up.
