I’ve been a member at Pivotal for almost a year. It’s always clean, members are courteous, staff is knowledgeable and always willing to help with any questions. It’s located in a great spot on Old Trolley Road with great hours of operation. I highly recommend this gym.
This is my home gym. Great equipment and a wide selection. Everything is clean. The staff is very pleasant. There are some cool classes here as well. I’m all about the personal training and lifting weights. Fellow gym members are courteous.
I signed up for Pivotal Fitness in June of 2020 with a one year contract, which we did agree too. Later that year, my husband was laid off due to Covid, had to get another job with a longer commute and was no longer able to go in the mornings. I was no longer working from home after that summer, so we were not able to utilize our membership as much as we had during the summer. I went a couple of months to see if we would get back to using it, but I was only going 2-3 times a month. I went in to speak with them in March of 2021 and explained the situation, and asked if the membership could be cancelled or paused due to our new circumstances. They did not care and were not willing to work with me. They also did not explain that my contract has an auto renewal clause that I would need to cancel in order to avoid being charged anything additional. I dont remember agreeing to this, when looking at the contract I initialed both that I do want an auto-renewal and that I dont want an auto-renewal. Instead of clarifying what was an obvious error, they select auto-renewal for me. I go in to cancel June of 2021 and am told that because they need a 30 day cancellation notice, they are also going to charge me for July of 2021. The employee I speak with does not care about the poor communication or lack of service on the gyms part, he tells me I need to take responsibility.. um, I did by paying through the specified term in the contract! I am so frustrated with the billing practices of this gym. It is a very nice facility, however it is very overpriced and the customer service is very poor. I highly recommend Planet Fitness instead, I will probably be going back to them. $10/month for the basic membership and no contracts, so even if I only go 2-3 times per month it is still much more worthwhile.
I would recommend this gym to everyone if I couldIt’s very clean and the staff is amazing1000% stars
I have been a member at Pivotal since 2017 and love that they offer Forge/Crossfit classes. Forge is the reason I joined. Prior to COVID we had anywhere from 3 to 4 classes a day to choose from during the week but now we are only offered 2 classes per day. When the gym reopened, we were told to be patient and more classes would be offered as things returned to normal. We have now doubled in size and still only have 2 classes a year later. The 2 classes we have are always overcrowded and this becomes a safety concern. My husband and I have tried switching from the morning class to attend the evening class but it’s just as crowded. Multiple members of Forge feel this way and have expressed their concern to the staff. They tell us if the program grows, we can get more classes. How can you grow the program when it’s already overcrowded? It’s very disappointing and I feel like safety is not much of a concern here.
This is a nice place to exercise. I like being able to bring my kids along. However, the curb appeal is neglected. For as much as the membership is, it seems like they could fix the blinking light bulb in front outside. The trees need cut back, parking lot trash picked up, and grass cut. Thanks for the nice inside. Just needs attention outside.
It’s hard to find a gym- and then throw in childcare at the gym! It’s even harder. I checked out this gym in Summerville with Oba- the gym is great! But what really blew me away was the staff. Oba was professional, courteous and friendly! The confidence in the staff is amazing and I super appreciate the time Oba took with me to answer all my questions and he addressed all my concerns regarding childcare. You can tell this gym really invests in appearance (on the inside), wants to provide top service at a reasonable value, and make it work for you!
Ignore all comments that you read that are negative let me tell you why first. No place is perfect except this is hands-down the best gym if not one of the best gyms in the Charleston area. There are three other main fitnesd but this one is the biggest so much more here. Its worth the drive if you can make it. Great staff, every machine you can think of, large cardio area, multiple different Fitness groups,, yoga, powerlifting CrossFit area in the back, huge parking lot for parking,a great area, give it a try cant go wrong I promise youll have a good workout, I know I did
Tons of equipment. Clean facility with friendly staff. Very nice gym!!
I love the gym and the changes the new manager has done. Great Job!
My husband and I come 6-7 days a week! We love to lift! This gym is so accommodating to whatever your workout “forte” may be. They have a wide variety of classes (I love spin 🙃); even when it’s crazy crowded there is STILL enough equipment to get a lift in! The staff treats you like family. We’ve made great friendships, too. Not to mention the amazing kid zone 👏🏻 I would highly recommend this gym- I’ve been a member for years. If you’re looking for a non-gimmicky gym that has it all, come here.
Been going here for years. Many changes in staff and very over priced
I’m glad we found this gym when we moved to Charleston 18 months ago. The staff members have always been pleasant and welcoming to us. We even have made a lot of friendships with people we have met there. We look forward to seeing the friendly staff at the front desk when we walk in every day. They have much space, a ton of equipment and classes if we choose to participate in. Thank you to the staff for making the gym a welcoming, fun and a clean environment.
Safe clean atmosphere. Helpful staff. Great trainer.
My wife and I LOVE it. Great space, genuine staff and awesome kid zone. My wife and I love lifting and there’s plenty of space and equipment to accommodate large crowds. Best local gym HANDS DOWN!!
Love this gym. Been there since 2012
To keep this short and sweet I’m gonna just say this... the employees here quick to answer any questions and are happy to help you! Sign up is easy and the facilities are super clean they are an outstanding GYM! It’s rather spacious and can accommodate its members and more!
Great place to work out, have been going there for a little over a year.Hours of operations have became a major issue. If you dont have a job during the day, its a great place. But those of us that work, tough getting in within their hours
I have been a member at Pivotal - Summerville going on 3 years. This facility has a great selection of classes to choose from, not to mention the instructors and other employees are always a joy to work with. Also, kudos to the manager, Doug. He has done a wonderful job of making the re-opening a pleasant and safe experience. I personally feel extremely safe working out due to all the precautions Pivotal has taken and implemented. You simply cant find a better gym to join in this area.
As the Forge Coach, this gym is my second home. From the management folks all the way down to the Forge family, Pivotal continues to be a great gym. Being able to workout in crossfit classes at a great price is what brought me to pivotal.
This gym has a great variety of equipment. I appreciate the dedicated sled push area with rails to prevent people from just walking through; I appreciate the dedicated deadlifting space, plenty of squat racks, and benches. The cables, machines, and free weights are in good condition. The parking lot has plenty of space- never an issue to find a spot. Even though I have to work out at the busiest part of the day- I am always able to find a space to get my workout in because there is so much room in the building. The gym staff members are so warm and welcoming, genuine people. The vibe of most gym members here seems to be focused—focused on getting a good workout in and simply that. ((Other gyms I’ve been to previously I would have to patiently wait for people to stop hanging out chatting/flirting/texting/etc on the machines. I’ve been here about a year and have not had any issues of people “hanging out” on the equipment I’m wanting to use)).I paid for a year in advance and got a month free (not a renewing contract, will have to renew manually later). If memory is correct I think it was around $10ish a month if paid in advance for just the gym equipment, one location, and no extra gym class access. Works for me and worth every penny.Oh, and the MASSIVE American Flag in the center of the gym - I love that!
My favorite Gym!
I’ve been a member here for several years and this is an excellent gym! There is plenty of space to workout, every equipment piece that I’ve needed, and there is an abundance of equipment so when it’s busy, I still have plenty to choose from. Doug and his team are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure your needs are met and the place stays clean and in order.
They keep charging you for months after canceling your membership at the correct time. I had multiple employees promise me that I would not be charged again but it kept happening over and over. Even the general manager has promised me refunds only for them to not be fulfilled and then to keep being charged every month. They’re literally robbing people.
Place is just a scam. Hidden contracts and financially managed by some random company out of state with an F rating with BBB. Went in for a free month promo, left for basic training and came back to over a $1,000 in charges and my credit score dropped by a 100 points.
Pivotal Fitness on Old Trolley Road in Summerville is a complete fitness center and place to get a quality workout that has everything that you would want. The facility is well managed and has a wonderful staff that is involved and available to help. They have maintained their quality throughout the years.
This is the place to go if you are serious about getting into a routine of working out. If not, go to the place thats afraid if you make some noise during your workout you might want to come back and do it again. It isnt too busy, has plenty of equipment, and the people who work here and the people who come to play are both helpful and courteous. Come on down and make a new friend and consider it your chance to go to the playground.
Mixed emotions. Its a nice gym with great equipment. The sales or I should say the subscription tactics to lock you in are very pressured w/Constant calls texts reminders. I enjoyed my time there though alot of the reason for not returning was the heavy crowd during evening hours. I needed more privacy and space.
They will over charge you for services and will offer to fix it but never actually resolve the issues.
I dropped in for a few classes while visiting family in the area. Dont let the outside fool you, gorgeous facility inside. Updated equipment, and dedicated class spaces for a host of different workouts. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Cant wait to swing back when Im in the area.
Real gym to workout at, tired of these cardio based gyms. 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Great gym! My only complaint is I wish they would put in more treadmills without a screen right in your face. Makes me feel claustrophobic while trying to get in a run.
I love this gym.
I currently have a membership here and personal training here. I tried to cancel my personal training and they told me I signed up for 6 months. I was never provided a contract to read for this and was told to sign on a blank board. They will not let me cancel the personal training without paying for the entire 6 months. The workers are fine people but I really do feel like I got scammed. Idk how to fix this because I never wanted to do 6 months. I signed up on my first day of the gym. I would never do that.
I would suggest if you are thinking of joining you take special note of the reviews discussing managements attitudes and practices. They care about one thing - the bottom line. They do not care about the members, no matter how much they like to sell that to you. They also believe that they are better than any other gym and any other program. Let me tell you that any other gym knows you can go anywhere else, and that the only way to differentiate their product is through the service end of it. They DO NOT do this. In particular, the general manager is snide and condescending. I had one of their trainers question my workouts one day because he always saw me doing my own thing. Apparently, he thought that unless I got my program from one of their trainers, it was not very good. Later I saw this guy training someone, and let me tell you that I was doing MUCH better than that poor person. He actually told her that she had to lose fat before she could build muscle. That idea is so antiquated!! I cannot believe that they employ someone that is still spouting that garbage!!!! When I told the GM, he simply stated that everyone had different opinions. HUH????? That is not an opinion. That is a fact he is giving someone that is wrong. Thank God my membership has been cancelled (and everyone is right - it takes a small miracle to get this to happen). Save yourself some time and trouble - STAY FAR AWAY.
I love pivotal. Staff is awesomely me, group fitness is awesome, they offer such a variety, hours are flexible, and a large variation of equipment. I have been a member for years.
I love this gym. They have great equipment, great staff, amd all of the classes are included in the membership. We love it. Jaime is a great employee and makes you feel welcome.
I have been a member of this gym since Pivotal took over all of the Life Quest gym accounts back around 2003 when the Life Quest owner skipped town. I have seen the ups and downs but have always been pleased with the quality and cleanliness of the gym. The recent refurbishment however, has been outstanding. The gym is head and shoulders from where it was last year. The staff are great and my wife loves the classes. She has been to three different class types regularly and loves all of the instructors. I highly recommend this gym. The equipment is great, the staff is great, the ladies in the childrens center are truly awesome.
They have a good selection of equipment and free weights. They also have classes. The ony cons are it takes a long time to repair equipment and there are days when no paper towels are available to wipe down equipment..
Outstanding GYM filled with Rons of state of the Art machines, loads of free weights! Aerobic & biking classes, Nutritional store, several flat screens, as well as easy in-easy out on Trolley Rd. *Best in the North Charleston area, by far! Also...very competitive membership rates! Shop around all of the others...BEFORE you sign on the dotted line! Oh...child care too!
I absolutely love all of the classes they offer!!! the instructors are amazing and show modifications for every level of intensity. the staff is friendly and always helpful. the daycare was FREE!!!! and all of the equipment was in great condition and there was more than plenty during the busy hours. on top of that, the prices were beyond reasonable and there is no contract!!!! LOVE THIS GYM!!!!
I moved here about 3 months ago and have had the best experience here. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I originally looked into this gym because of their childcare option which has been great! My daughter loves going here. I personally am a Redzone fanatic but there is a class for everyone and plenty of equipment to lift with and not have to wait like at a normal gym. Absolutely hands down the best gym in Charleston!
Absolutely love this gym and they keep up with their equipment.Super clean and spacious!Have been going here for 12 years - seen the different owners/managers and changes throughout the years and right now, its at its absolute best!Friendly staff, affordable rates, prompt manager response to concerns, etc...
A great gym, lots of modern equipment and plenty of it. The staff is usually very accommodating, but the hours arent the most ideal. Truly a 24 hour gym would be nice, or even the option for it. Nice amenities, but the locker rooms arent the best, they could use some upgrades. Basic membership is pretty reasonably priced, but classes and trainers are expensive add-ons .
Amazing transformation of the old Pivotal - upgraded and expanded equipment offerings - wide array of class offerings (each in their own special space) - first-class spin studio. People make the difference - front desk staff always friendly and welcoming. Some gym-goers complain about the contracts and the monthly, but quite frankly if you actually make regular use of the space and the equipment, then the dollar amount per visit is very reasonable. Personal training staff is really on the upswing, too - I would recommend Scott Russell without hesitation - as long as he doesnt get so busy that he cant schedule sessions with me!
This gym is awesome. The classes, the trainers, the equipment, and the gym hours are great. The staff gets to know your name and treats you like a familiar face. I have went to the gym for over a year. I have lost alot of weight and gained alot of muscle by using all it has to offer.
I have belonged to pivotal for years. I have watched the gym grow and improve. It is better than it has ever been. I attend classes at least three to four days a week. Cycle class, Body Pump, and Barre. Great classes. the Cycle room is awesome one of the best of have used. Really nice bikes, huge video screen, each instructor teaches a little different, plays various music, and great fans (that is a must). I lift weights at least three to four times a week. Great variety of weights. Weights for the body builder and weights for those that just want to stay somewhat fit. The staff is all well trained and friendly. I have used the personal trainers as well. Great trainers willing to help you achieve your goals and work with your schedule. Keegan is now the General Manager in Summerville and he is great.
Been a member for quite sometime. Place is declining quick in service, equipment, and overall cleanliness. The bathrooms stinks like urine. No manager is onsite to keep the place in working order. This place has become a joke. Wont be renewing.
Lots of equipment. Good environment. Costs about $35 a month
I tried to cancel my account in August. I did everything they asked me to do. I filled out a cancellation form and then it sent it to Taylor Passaro to which I received no response and still getting charged until this day. Im not sure what kind of shady business practices this place uses but I do not recommend going here.
Started here because a friend recommended this gym and I love it. Its a very clean gym and the staff are awesome. I love the classes they offer and the times of the classes are accommodating. One of my main reasons I considered this gym was because of the childcare. They have so much for all 4 of my children to do and even have bounce houses. They also offer classes for the children, like Zumba and Yoga. My kids love it.
Has all the equipment. Never too crowded. Fantastic prices especially if buying for 6 months or more.
Although the Facilities are pretty nice the company itself is not great. I have left numerous messages attempting to cancel or pul my account on hold as I am out of the country for a few months and no one has ever gotten back to me. They have repeatedly charged my account since the first time I left a message with them and even had a debt collector call me after the SECOND missed payment, I put a block on card for them. Heed my warning, if you are not planning on working out regularly for a 2 year period and are sure that you wont have to go out of town for a while by all means pay their fee (which is too much for what youre getting in my opinion) otherwise find another gym that has better costumer service
Ive been a member for several years and really enjoyed this gym. It is clean, doesnt smell, and there is always equipment available for me. Ive never had any financial problems and Ive gotten good customer service when I have interacted with the staff (these seem to be the chief complaints).I use mostly the cardio equipment, and it is always in good repair. The facility on Old Trolley Road is spacious and they seem to have numerous spinning and other classes that are always well attended. When Ive been in the West Ashley area, I drop into that fitness center and it too is clean and spacious.
They have put a lot of work and money in to upgrading the inside of the building. It was a grocery store before. However it still needs quite a bit of work. Now they need to replace the outdated equipment such as the treadmills and ellipticals. The childcare is a great touch. The other employees barely take the time to look up from their phones to great you upon entry. I made a couple requests for signs to wipe the treadmills down after use and a mirror in the hallway so that there wouldnt be a collision by the restrooms but the seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Long story short... its pretty good but I expected more for so much each month.
Excellent equipment, they have classes for bike/cross fit/yoga/Zumba/personal trainers. The classes are in 5 separate rooms and very nice setup. Tons of cardio equipment, huge free weight area, very nice hammer strength section, and another very large area for the Life Fitness machines. Theyve really turned things around with employees, management and the billing department is much, much better! Great job! Great renovation!
The only positive thing I can say about Pivotal Fitness on Trolley Road is that there is a wide variety of equipment but for me that is not enough because it is ridiculously overpriced. Some of the equipment is old and screeches horrifically in which the staff was notified and 2 months later nothing has been done about it. You can find the same equipment at a much cheaper price at another gym. The Personal Trainers are cool guys but, like everything else in the gym, are overpriced and do not do anything that you can not do by yourself. The staff is careless and dont focus much on the customer. When they do it is only when you are going to spend money. The gyms promotions are misleading, only leading you to spend more money than what is displayed. Management at Pivotal Fitness is poor, I spoke on the phone to the manager about one of the employees mishaps, in which I was charged an overdraft, and she argued with and disrespected me. Im certainly not the only one that thinks this gym is horrible. I talk to other people in the gym and they also say that after their contract ends they are going to find another gym. I made the mistake of signing a contract with Pivotal Fitness and highly advise that you do not make the same mistake that I did. Summerville and Charleston have plenty of other gyms that are way cheaper and care about their customers.
I really like it here. I’m new to the area and my neighbor recommended it to me. It’s great how the equipment is kept clean and up-to-date and how there is always enough for everybody. It gets an A+ from me.
Awesome gym, great kid zone as well.
Do NOT allow this company access to your bank account!!!! I am having the same experience as another reviewer where Pivotal is still taking out money that they are not entitled to.Do not assume that what you are told at the front desk is the truth. When I signed my contract I was assured that there was a military clause, which if you are in the military you understand takes place from the time you move, not 30 days after we receive your paper work. This move, unfortunately, gave us 11 days from the time we received our orders until it was time to move. The day after I received my orders I went into the establishment to be certain I was doing everything correctly. Moving is hard enough, I didnt want any trouble from something silly like a gym. I handed the woman my husbands orders and then she faxed them off. She told me I was all set. She told me that because we were military the 30 days did not apply and that I was not required to fax a letter. I assumed that she was telling me the truth. The next month money was pulled from my account. When I called to ask what was going on I was told that they had absolutely no information on me and since they didnt know who I talked to they werent going to help me. So basically I am going to be out three months membership because of an error on their part that they refuse to take responsibility for.
Renovation has been a plus but prices for programs have skyrocketed. These are New York prices. I pay low 20s per month just to use weights and a treadmill. But if you want classes depending on which ones, you can pay a hefty price.Management has improved 100% since I joined many years ago and staff way friendlier so there has been a great improvement. The expense might be a little too much for area.Bottom line: great equipment and great classes. Great if you can afford.
Ive spent over 3 years at this gym now. It has very friendly staff, a LOT of equipment to use, the people that workout here are also nice and will help if you dont know how to use a machine or need some tips to improve your form. I did leave a few months ago for another gym that was open 24 hours because I usually work out at night. If pivotals hours work with your workout schedule I would highly recommend it. The 24 hour gym I went to was small and didnt have enough equipment to justify there price so I ended up coming back and Im glad I did.
Extremely disappointed. If youre Military, I highly recommend you choose a gym that has a more solid business plan and understand how to conduct business with an individual. False promises of getting things done and failing to write an email or make a phone call is pretty amateurish. Long story short, thought I had handled the cancellation of my membership (month-to-month plan) and found out later that they were still charging me. Contacted the facility probably at least once a month for about 5 months until they finally cancelled it. However, now, I paid for a several months for a gym I was at least a 22 hour drive away from. Again, was told that it would be taken care of. Well, never happened. Funny thing is, Ill be moving back to Charleston and will be that much smarter to choose a more establish business even if it costs a little more. On top of that, Ive already sent an email to my squadron highly recommending they stay clear of this business. In short, spend the extra money and find a gym that has a more established sense of business and remember they are a facility to provide a service, not the other way around.
Good variety of equipment- although a few new some maintenance.
Huge facilities. Lots of room
Staff is accommodating and friendly, there’s a large selection of equipment and it’s always clean. Now that they improved their hours I have 0 complaints. :)
I love Pivotal, but why I have to pay late fee in this pandemic time, I called this morning and a rude man told me that, there is nothing to do and I have to pay late fee ... all the State are in national emergency ... and pivotal took from my account the monthly payment plus fee late, absurd
Had to change my review from 5 stars to 1 stars. I did not believe all the negative reviews I read about the management but after 1 year I am beginning to understand. The equipment is great and the staff are great too. But over the one year I have been a member there, there were changes to policies that helped me to decide to go to that gym in the first place. The last straw was my wife and I getting conflicting texts about when we had to renew our contract for a “special rate”. Upon calling, we learned that even the time in both of our conflicting texts was wrong and we had to renew for the low price within 2 hours! We politely declined and were told “if you find a new gym that’s fine too”. Unfortunately we will be doing just that. Great equipment and staff, but just too much shenanigans and policy changes that makes it too risky of an investment to stay with them for another year. It’s a shame.
Don’t believe a word the staff says when signing up. I went to the gym a year prior and when I decided to come back I was told I wouldn’t be in any kind of contract and could cancel anytime. I stopped going in December 2018 because I just didn’t have time and finally decided to cancel February 1st after more than a month of not going once. When I went in to cancel I was told I would have to email someone and have them cancel (this was the most unprofessional part of the entire problem and is done so they don’t have to tell you in person they’re getting over on you). I proceeded to email about cancelling and didn’t receive an email until 4 days later and was told they had entered a 30 day notice to cancel. I was never told anything about this when signing up and was told I could simply cancel anytime. I was then billed 2 weeks later for $59.99 and I filed a dispute. Not only did they fight it but 3 weeks later charged me an additional 49.99 yearly fee. By far the most unprofessional, unethical and unreasonable business I have ever had to deal with. This will be one of very few reviews that I feel are well worth my time to write.
I had no problems with choosing a membership option at all. I had zero problems when time came to renew. The facility itself is mostly brand new. There is plenty of equipment and space to work and the hours are very workable.I do not pay for the option to take classes but those I speak to that do use it speak quite highly of it and the option for trial classes is always there.Youll have complaints here like any other gym...someone didnt put the weights back, its crowded today, etc.Otherwise, this gym is great.
Excellent prices and huge place. They even have a baby and kids care place for your little ones while you train.
This is pretty nice gym, but the hours could be better. They close early on the weekends (8 pm on Saturdays / 6 pm on Sunday ) . There are other options for 24 hour gyms in Charleston such as : 02 fitness, anytime fitness & planet fitness. This gym still does contracts. Even after your 12 month contract ends they will still make it their business to charge your card every month whether you use the gym or not (way to accrue extra charges) I didnt see any difference from being in a contract to going month- to- month really; It still kind of feels like you are in a contract because it seems like you have to hop through hoops just to cancel your account. If you request to cancel your membership you must write a letter 30 days in advance. (really??) But other than that the gym is pretty spacious. The equipment is good. They offer classes, but you have to pay additional; of course.
Avoid this place like the plague. I signed up for a month to month, and specifically asked the poor excuse of a person who signed me up exactly what I had to do to cancel. I asked him to please not bamboozle me to shoot me straight and explain it to me like Im a child. This person, Cody I believe was his name, explained in order to cancel and avoid a fee for an additional month that I would have to mail a letter to them five days prior to the next billing cycle. I asked Cody, why I couldnt just walk it in he explained it was their policy, not mentioning there was a third party agency involved handling the gyms finances.Since I was only trying to motivate my sister to going to the gym, i figured a month would give her plenty of time to get accustomed to the facility make a few friends and keep going on her own after i had stopped going. So I jumped on the month to month, explained the situation to Cody and told him I will more than likely only be around for a month or so.Long Story short, it took me MONTHS to finally cancel because of the tricked out scam they have set up in that facility. This outside agency was the damn devil, ABC Financial. I refused to pay them more than two months since I had emailed them within that time frame to get me off their system and to please leave me alone with the phone calls. When the bill collectors finally got a hold of this imaginary debt it damn quadrupled and they threatened to slap the delinquency on my credit report. So I had to pay $165 to this collection agency which was a discounted rate from over $200 and I barely even went to that dump a couple of times out of that first month.Do not go to this place, one way or another they will screw you over. They are scandalous thugs and they think they dont have it coming to them. I swear if I didnt have a handful of life I was not overwhelmed with already I would have fought this to the bitter end. However they design their sweatshop to be a hassle to communicate with ANY of the people you attempt to talk to that is connected. Both pivotal and ABC and this collection agency are all in on it. The very first chance I get I will be reporting them to the BBB and will update accordingly.
I absolutely love this gym. The classes, Forge, Redzone, and Barre kick butt and theres an all inclusive membership you can buy with unlimited access to the classes for a great deal if you pay in full. That membership includes child care for my two children as well. The only complaint I have here is that the majority of the time when Im walking out, if Ive got my baby in her actual car seat, the men standing at the front desks or near the front dont offer or try to open the door for me (and those doors are pretty heavy), especially considering having a baby, a gym bag, a purse, and a water bottle in tow....I just feel like its a gentleman thing to do and it makes for fantastic customer service :) All in all, I love pivotal & its employees, and Im going to continue to use this gym.
I wish i never step foot in this gym. the day arrived i was planning to just get the 30 day free pass but they got me into a 24 month contract. you can’t cancel at the desk, they give you a card that you have to email if you want to cancel. the only way to cancel is if you relocate or pay the 250 fee. i’m going off to college soon and i could use that 250 for books. i am so mad. if anyone plan on to join this gym have them sit down and YOU look and read the contract yourself before signing it so you won’t get yourself into an unnecessary contract. they didn’t do that with me, instead they stood behind the computer and did all the work while i didn’t know what i was getting into.i wasn’t told that for group fitness it’s an extra 10 dollars. i tried to cancel that to lower my monthly pay but i was told i can’t, which is dumb. that’s another waste of 10 dollars. this gym is a scam, a waste of my money and i hate it. i hate because of the unnecessary contract i didn’t ask for.
Great gym with a friendly staff whos always helpful. The equipment is far better than other local gyms. Pivotal also has a built in child care and, also a nutrition store too, as well as evey class you can think of. Its just a overall good experience for me so far.
Great gym, great staff!
This gym has everything I need from equipment to extensive class schedule. Its pricier than some other gyms in the area, but compare the cost and equipment and youll see that Pivotal has the best deal.
Steer clear. General Manager is rude absolutely no customer service. Been seen treating his employees horridly. Just a matter of time before the state gets involved Im sure. Cant get out of contracts. Likes to scam peoples money.
Pivotal Fitness in Summerville is the only location where anyone can get a full exercise workout in. Price is completely irrelevant with you have a superior GYM, not a glorified hotel fitness studio, that will allow anyone to follow their goals. This is the only gym in the area where the turnover of trainers is exceptionally low; this means they must be doing something right! To sum it up, it’s the right price, for the right place, employed by the right people, to make everything…. Right!
The workout experience was ok, But I left my children to play at the kids play place and they did not enjoy. There was a red haired lady, that would scream at the children, and she started twerking out of nowhere right in front of the children, My kid said it was disgusting and she Did it right next to him. this is why I give A 1 Star review I am never bringing my children ever again.
I have three active nation wide gym memberships and I wish this place was in every major city. Mind blown I cant believe how nice it is in here. There is every machine and weight a gym rat could want. Allot of classes but Im not into those. They could charge 3 times the amount for this place...
Pros: lots of equipment, space and classes.Cons: Took away a separate section for the women, always different managers and staff (everyone was on a different page and had different responses), contracts (even with month to month it almost impossible to cancel). I signed up with them three times and every time it took a miracle to cancel. The staff never got back to me. I requested to speak to the manager several times since he was the only person who could cancel my membership. Ive personally never had a good experience with them.
This place is amazing! It has EVERYTHING you could need. The staff here are phenomenal people.
I love pivotal and the forge and redzone classes! Such an inspiring crew ❤️
Read the horrible reviews before you commit. Its well worth your time. They are ALL true.
I’ve been a long-time member and have watched the facility decline. There’s a growing list of broken equipment that goes months and months wIthout repair. The carpet is filthy and worn. Now when there is competition opening around the corner, they have trimmed their weekend hours. Time to move on.
Its an alsome gym experience!
The gym and staff are great but cancelling is a pain. Ive been trying to cancel for 3 months since I left for college and Ive been unable to cancel so theyve still been charging my account.
I want give no star。Before joining the members, they will tell you that you can cancel the membership at any time, but after joining, if you want to cancel the members, they will tell you that you need to tell us 30 days in advance, give us proof that you moved, and then you Can be canceled.Just read the evaluation of the gym, some people like me was asked to cancel the members of the 30 days in advance, If I could see the evaluation of the gym earlier, I would not join the membership.Even if someone else moved,it still be automatically charged for several months
Equipment surfaces are well kept, but mechanical things such as: cables, bolt, rubber grips, etc... Need help
To bad it isnt possible to post 0 stars.Well you can truly say they have very few Pros. Best part is they are really the only gym in the area that have great classes. Plenty of Cons on the gym though. A/C does not work at all, management is a joke, no one ever smiles (seems you are just a number to them). When equipment is broken it takes weeks to fix it. If you want to workout in a sauna this is the gym for you. The defibrillator I know for a fact does not work. If you turn it on, it does not turn on at all. If you are looking to use a stair master look for another gym. If you like to workout on old carpet this is the perfect gym for you. Smells musty because of the extreme heat. Best part is I heard they are charging the employees for a mandatory CPR class. Under Labor Laws I am 100% sure that is illegal to do. If you make it mandatory the company has to cover the cost. Employee told me that if they do not take the CPR class they will be fired. What a way to treat your employees.I would 100% consider a different gym. I heard Golds is opening up just down the road and it is the same price for a million times better facility.
Great gym but the trainers kenny will not show up or text back and laura seeley will not write you back when u email here ...dont waste your money or time cause they will give u the run around
Pivotal Fitness has the worst customer service and business practices. After your contract is up, I was told I would have the OPTION to do a month-to-month membership. I specifically asked if this was automatic or if I had to sign up for it. They told me I had to sign up for it. Well it was automatic. Fine, mistake. The only way to cancel your membership is to mail a certified letter to them or fax them a signed letter saying I want to cancel the membership. And according to their policy, it takes 30 days to cancel. How convenient that it takes an entire month so they can get another payment. Whatever its policy.Well they claimed they never received my letter. I said I will send them another one and they said it will take 30 days. This is absurd! Ive already sent them a cancelation letter, why will it take another 30 days? They kept saying its policy so I asked to speak to a superior about it and they refused to transfer me. They said I could email them a letter (did not tell me that the first time). So I emailed them a letter and demanded a call immediately upon receipt and 10 minutes later they called but it was from a Florida area code saying it will take 30 days. That was the other weird thing, you can not cancel via the gym you signed up with. And you can not find any phone number or email contact information to speak with someone about your policy on their website. Go to another gym.
Far better than any other place I visited in and around Summerville! Problem now has become no wifi for weeks...not response to request for contact. Also refuse to change water filter on fountain for bottles.
Run from this health club! This place is associated with ABC Financial out of Alabama a financial scam company. You will never be able to get out of your contract if you have to move. They will continue to put you off and add charges to your account. Do not give them your bank information. If you look at previous post you will see the BBB gave Pivotal Fitness and F rating. There could be a possible class action suit against Pivotal Fitness and ABC Financial for there illegal practices. Here is one of their excuses for not cancelling my account once I moved. They ask for a copy of your drivers license with your new address displayed on it. Fine, I went to SC DMV and they changed it and gave me a new license. When they do this it does not change the date of when your license expires. So my license shows my original issue date of 7/28/10 even though the address was changed and updated in January 2013. These idiots at ABC Financial said that wasnt good enough because it shows my license was issued in 2010. When you call ABC Financial and asked for a manager they put you on hold and never return. This is a boiler room operation and its responses and service verify that.Calls to the club itself were useless. The membership director will not return your call and the woman I spoke with was downright rude. From the other reviews I have read my experience is the norm with Pivotal Fitness and ABC Financial. With the state of this economy I do not want to waste my time or money on a business whos only goal is to rip off the consumer.Stay away from this establishment.
I canceled my membership, and they kept charging me. They wouldnt refund me, so I opened a claim with my bank. Pivotal then refuted the claim and Im in a back and forth with Bank of America and Pivotals billing company. I wish Pivotal would just own up to their mistake and refund me my three months of charges that were incorrectly charged to me. I was a member for a year and a half and this is how they treat me. I left a wonderful review before. I wish I could say I left with good things to say about this gym, but I cant.
The updated equipment & the new design/model of the inside all looks amazing great job pivotal👍🏼!!!! You cant beat the price and staff are very friendly. I love it here.
I liked this gym for a long time but some health issues came up and I couldnt go so I tried to cancel the membership. They directed me to go online to do it. The I got charged the renewal fee even though I was cancelling the membership. Talk about corporate greed.
Dont do it. So, in the fine print of your contract, you might find that there is an (supposedly) annual equipment fee. You mean $80 a month for two people isnt enough to cover the cost of the mediocre equipment, the crappy building and the AC thats NEVER TURNED ON? Im annoyed by the extraneous charges that hit our bill on a seemingly irregular basis. Its not annual. The ONLY way Id consider this gym is if you pay your annual dues up front in cash. Dont give them a debit card number!
