While on vacation in VA Beach, one of our dogs become suddenly sick. We stayed in touch with our home vet throughout that morning and afternoon while monitoring her symptoms, eventually they decided she must be seen by a local vet right away. I called 7 different veterinarians and pet hospitals in VB; all of them reported that they could not admit her. Only one emergency pet hospital said we could come and sit in their lobby but the wait would be 6+ hours (meaning we would be seen at midnight, at the earliest). It was quickly becoming a scary situation when we happened upon a listing for The COVE. Their receptionist said we would be seen almost immediately upon arrival so we drove to Suffolk (only 35 min away) and within 5 minutes a vet tech came out to our car to triage our little girl. The vet examined her and called us with her diagnosis and treatment options; an hour later she was back in our arms with a baggy of medicine and clear instructions for care. I am so grateful to The COVE for their quick, efficient and accurate care of our pup. While emergency medical care is always expensive, I was relieved that we made it out the door under $300 for our girls particular malady. An added benefit is that had she needed to see the vet again within 24 hrs, they do not charge another exam fee. They remained available in the days to come to answer our questions and share records with our regular vet. 2 weeks later, we are home and our pup has recovered. I recommend The COVE to anyone needing emergency vet care in Hampton Roads.
I would unquestionably recommend this place to anyone. The doctor explained all of the options to consider and the risks, and she provided what she thought was best for Frosty. The staff was very patient when my mom and I figured out how to pay for the surgery to fix Frostys jaw. Thank Lord! We were able to pay for his surgery! Our dog fractured his jaw by trying to bite something. Unfortunately, we were only able to afford the doctor to fix his fractured jaw. BUT, the doctor went ahead and took out all of Frostys teeth for free! This pet hospital took extra good care of Frosty and checked on him. The doctor is truly a blessing because she did more than what was asked of her and exceeded our expectations. Frosty is now toothless and cant bite anything else but still ALIVE! And all thanks to this lovely, empathetic doctor and staff! The doctor is a miracle worker!
I cannot say enough good things about this place! Our puppy got very sick a week after getting her, and while it was a scary experience for us the team at the COVE was the best I could’ve asked for to get through it. We got updates throughout her stay, and when we called to ask more questions/get more updates, everyone we spoke to was extremely patient. The ICU techs were knowledgeable and great at explaining things clearly, and we never felt rushed on the phone despite the many questions we asked. Although it was expensive (which vet care/emergency care is), the costs were all explained to us clearly prior to doing anything. Hopefully we don’t need to go back but if we did I know great care would be given!
Upon arrival they took my dog in, checked his vitals, said he was stable and there was a 10-12 hour wait to see the Dr. When they brought my dog out they then let us know he had a fever of 104. They said to monitor him over night and try to get into his vet in the morning. The next day we ended up taking him to a different emergency vet office because when I called and told them what took place they were actually concerned. After a 24 hour observation stay, IV fluids, X-rays blood work and antibiotics, my dog is on the right path to being healthy again. We will never take another animal to the Cove because this horrible experience.
I brought my dog in this evening after she got into an altercation with my other dog. The nursing staff was so helpful and took wonderful care of my baby. They gave her a pain injection so she would be comfortable and in less pain while she waited to be seen. The experience with the doctor was fantastic. She answered all my questions and put my mind at ease because I knew she was going to take good care of my precious Angel! They called after she woke up from being sedated for stitches and told me everything I needed to know as far as how long to expect the healing, what to watch out for, and what medications she would be on. The doctors and staff did an amazing job and I couldn’t be happier with the service they provided! My baby was in great hands tonight! I am so thankful for the COVE!
My dog ingested rat poison. The Cove was quick and very professional. We did not have to wait at all and the doctor kept me very informed as to how my girl was doing. I will go back there in a heartbeat. This was a very scary time for everyone and The Cove helped us through everything and was very comforting to me.
Don’t waste your time and bring your dog or any pet here. It’s all a money grab for them. My dog had a blockage in his intestines and had all the symptoms. Anyone worth a dam could have figured it out within a couple minutes. They gave him two shots and sent him home with a 103 degree fever. If I hadn’t taken my dog to a real vet he would have died. They couldn’t care less about the pets just that swipe of your card for money. Please save your money and go to a real doctor. 305 dollars for two shots and almost my dog passing away because they don’t want to be bothered in the middle of the night.
A few months ago, my cat Meena went into respiratory distress one morning, so I ran her here as fast as I could as our primary vet was not available at the time. From the time we showed up, my experience with The COVE could not have been more reassuring and pleasant. They got her in within only a few short minutes of me pulling up and quickly had her stabilized on oxygen. The communication with them regarding her condition was prompt, and the team was all super kind and understanding. She had to stay overnight on oxygen and was on IV antibiotics and steroids. Throughout her time here I was able to call 24/7 with an update on her condition (their communication was us was very consistent, so I didnt need to take advantage of it, but felt comfortable doing so if needed). They even worked with us on the cost, and I never felt belittled or looked down on for having to figure it out. Even with all the work that needed to be done, we were shocked at how low the cost was in total.Although my poor baby passed away a few days ago (she was diagnosed with heart disease and finally succumbed to it), I cant thank this team enough on how they treated Meena during her time there. I know she saw Dr. Small, and while I wasnt able to meet her directly, I could tell she had her best interest in mind. If anything urgent happens to any of my surviving fur-babies, I know I have a place to go.
The two ladies, Kerri and Savannah, that work in reception are very unprofessional. Today I called looking for some info about a cat that was dropped off. Both of the ladies began laughing at me and hung up the phone while I was talking. I am highly concerned, if this is how they treat people I can’t imagine how they treat innocent fur babies. It is a shame these two ladies are the voice and face for this company. I will never recommend anyone to use this place of practice. I look forward to hearing from the management team very soon. 0/10 . Very unprofessional. Very rude.
Had our golden retriever in for emergency care after a mastectomy/spaying for a few issues over the holiday weekend with her drain tube. Dr fixed her right up!!! Fair cost too!!! Very caring and concerned staff!!
I have nothing but good things to say about The Cove!! The compassion that the staff has for our fur babies and us fur parents speaks volumes. I called Saturday evening about the concerns I have with our cat. The representative that answered the phone was courtesy, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I explained in detail what was going on with our fur baby and the rep listened to ever word I said. She was able to give me some advice and it was very helpful. Thankfully our fur baby wasn’t/isn’t in critical condition and the information that was provided to me helped me make the best decision for my fur baby. This morning I received a call from Megan at The Cove who called to check up on our fur baby. Megan, you are a blessing and you are phenomenal!!! Thank you The Cove and thank you Megan. You guys are one of a kind and I’m glad that you all are open so close to me.
I am so thankful that I found The Cove. All of the staff members that Ive met have been amazing with my cat Coconut & have done such a great job keeping me informed & explaining everything thoroughly. My cat has severe heart disease & has needed seriously intensive care. They literally saved his life & have given me more time with my baby, time I thought I wasnt going to have before bringing him here. They are 100% worth the extra money. Other places Ive been to cut corners & it almost cost me my cats life & I was beginning to losing faith in vets these days. But I absolutely LOVE Dr. Nobles & Dr. Small, & feel very safe knowing that they are taking care of my baby.
The worst emergency animal hospital on the planet! My regular vet couldnt see my pet until a week later. I called the Cove twice asking to be seen and both times I was informed that my pets situation was not an emergency case and they refused to help my dog. The first time I called I told them that he was itching and biting his skin excessively. (He doesnt have fleas or ticks) The rude receptionist interrupts me while I am talking and snaps that he can not be seen. On the second call a few days day I tell her that his skin is now bleeding bad. Her response was, Not an emergency. WE are too busy. WHAT IF HE GETS AN INFECTION AND DIES? DOES THAT CONSTITUTE AS AN EMERGENCY? I ask her. You are better off going to the emergency vet clinic in Chesapeake if you dont want your pet to die. These people are unprofessional and rude
Worst clinic ever ….. they charged $200 for basically vital signs no diagnosis was given and was sent on our way when $1600 was required for blood work and tests basically I have to watch my family member die what average person have almost 2 grand to pay for care
They had me wait in the car for 5 hrs until 1am only to tell me that they weren’t going to see my dog. It was one of the most awful experiences I’ve ever had with a vet. I even called to check in after 3 hrs and they said they would see us in two hrs. When the time came to check in I was basically told I’d have to sit there until 8am in the morning. I would have respected it if they told me that in the beginning or after a few hrs. But they waited so long my pet could not be seen elsewhere.
Wish they were closer to us....use them more often. Our dog was tagged by a copperhead and the Cove was closest with antivenen. They took us right in, kept frequent updates and strategy of care. They stay on most conservative path, no extra procedures, or more meds than needed.Very economical and professional - will use them again for emergency care. Thanks!
Tonight I had to take my cat to the ER for what I believed to be a fractured foot. After calling 4 ER vets in Hampton and Newport News, every ER vet conveyed extremely long wait times, I called the Cove and the technician stated, she could get us in, in about 45 mins. She walked me through the website for completing the new patient form, I packed up my cat and made the drive to Suffolk. Upon arrival, I called and spoke to Michelle. She was delightful and explained payment, pet insurance, and the process for tonights visit. About 20 mins later, a technician (Carissa, I believe) came to my car and politely greeted me, asked me a few questions, and assured me she was going to ensure my cat was well cared for. 2 hours later the Dr called and explained what was going on with my cat. He used basic terms as to not inundate me with medical terminology. He game me options for what I could do for my cat, along with prices of each procedure. I chose my option and the Dr proceeded with the procedure. Upon completing, the Dr called again told me know how my cat did and walked me through how to give the medications and why the medications should be given this particular way. He explained side effects and warning signs. I truly appreciated the Dr making the call. Upon discharge, Carissa brought my cat out to me and sent him away with well wishes. I highly recommend the Cove for after hours emergency care! Their telephone etiquette and human interaction was great, explanation of terms, payments, and prices was phenomenal. Thank you Cove Staff, if I ever need emergency vet services again, I will choose you first!
Our golden doodle was treated last night for pneumonia. The staff was very attentive and caring. Dr. Williams was very thorough, giving several treatment options as well as follow up care. So grateful for their care for our sweet Charlie. Prices were not a concern because we just wanted our fur baby well, but I felt they were very reasonable. To the staff - thank you so much for all you do! We are so grateful for each one of you!
The Cove has earned from us a lifetime of trust and recognition for being so kind and passionate about our beloved 12yo Chihuahua-Maltese mix. The other day she was chasing after our neighboring doggie and then a rapid change. Within minutes of arriving at The Cove (about 1:30am) Lilly was in the doctors care; within minutes, a prognosis was made - and in minutes we had to spare Lilly continued anguish and make a humane decision. In minutes, Lilly was gone, and along with that any purpose and meaning our lives might have had. Everything bordered around Lilly, every aspect of our lives suddenly filled with numbness. We are forever grateful to the entire staff. In the days that followed, we received a letter with an acknowledgement and seeded paw felt print to lay in our garden that will flourish into memorable flowers for Lilly. We were moved to tears of joy. We truly recommend The Cove not merely as a final destination but as a continuum to the level of care and compassion you expect from those we entrust with our tiny family members.
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE AND THEY WILL TRY TO MILK YOU. The receptionist quoted me a price after needing approval for them to run tests on my puppy. When doctor called me back it was a whole different amount by $350+ . I told her to check with the receptionist and the receptionist claimed she told me the right price that the doctor told me. I then told them to call manager so they could listen back to the recording of the phone call between me and the receptionist in the beginning. The doctor then called me back and claimed that she was with the receptionist whole time when she quoted me the price in the beginning. If that’s the case then why did she have to ask the receptionist at first? Now the doctor lying to me and wasn’t trying to work with me to figure out the problem the receptionist created. Go to another emergency hospital. There are more in the area that is less expensive then The Cove. I will never be returning.
We learned last night that apparently every emergency vet other than one has closed near us making wait times 9-10 hours, so we drove over an hour here, they immediately took our girl back after triage and started care, they called us soon after to notify of what was happening and when we needed an estimate on cost they got it right away, unfortunately it was a bit to much because they thought Alita needed to stay the night, when we told them this they immediately tried other measures and got the cost down and our girl got to come home a couple hours later. The only complaint we have is that you cannot come in with your pets but we understand that some vets are still following covid protocol. Alita is doing amazing today and you wouldn’t even know that she was sick last night. We thank everyone who helped our girl and definitely recommend them
Very unprofessional and uncaring. Took their sweet time coming to the door, as my dog was dying. The attitude was very unprofessional from the staff.
My little dog was bit by a copperhead snake and everyone at The Cove was quick to give my dog the best of care. I’m so thankful they are close to us.
I took my baby boy to get seen and They told me he had something in his intestines and told me that his surgery was $6000 or I have to put him down. My husband and I begin to explain the cost with them and they said that they would work out a payment plan. Well a couple moments later they told me that they could not do a payment plan that the amount that we had for his surgery was not enough that it wouldn’t cover anything. If I would have read some of the reviews on Google I would not have taken him to the cove I would have taken him somewhere else. All they care about is money. So because of this I no longer have my baby boy anymore
Dr. Small and her team were amazing. They walked us through our consult, made sure to ask how Keppa was doing before the appointment. Dr. Small was very thorough while we reviewed the results made sure we undertsood eveything and answered all of our questions with endless patience. I really appreciate the caring manner and dedication of the team!
I understand I needed to come on a busy day but they should have more staff for their busier days. I arrived at 10:30 and didn’t leave until 4pm. I was never told I could leave and come back. I wish they would have told me I could go home and get on with my day and they would call me when he was ready. Instead I waited curbside liked they asked me to. Hope your furry friend doesn’t get sick on the weekend or else yours will be wasted waiting in their parking lot. Hope I don’t need to come back here.
I have had to use their emergency services for all 3 of my dogs over the past few years. They always put the animals first. They have great communication with us anxious pet parents and all of the dogs have gotten better. I see the care the staff takes and will continue to use them. Thanks so much from us to yall.
This is the first negative review I’ve posted for anything really and I’ll try to be as objective and fair as possible but in the end I would never come here again or recommend this place. I called before to make sure they could see my dog (Boston terrier)as she was having a serious issue and could not get up on her feet. daneille said they could see her “right away“ and so I rushed her up there. And they have to come out to the car bc for some reason they are still doing covid protocols. (Red flag)They took her in and after 2 hours of hearing nothing I called in and was told they were busy and then another 2 hours went by and I called and was told the same. 6 hours later I finally get a call and they had just looked at her. So that whole time she was laying in a kennel by herself in pain. Thankfully she was still alive and dr.comer said “she seems fine“ and did recommend X-rays among other thing. so they brought her out and she was in fact getting better but was still lethargic. they were about as unprofessional as it gets . The assistant told me to call the office (we were standing at the office door) if I wanted to talk to the doctor and then the phone just rang and rang. At that point I realize what I was dealing with and my dog was at least able to get on her feet I paid the $200 and left so we can see her normal vet who I can trust in the morning
I got told my best friend my dog needed to have emergency surgery. I called ahead and explained the situation and the financial situation I was in. On the phone they told me to fill out the new pet form and that they would figure something out about the cost. When we got there they took my baby boy in and I began to explain the cost situation again and they said they were working on something inside to help. We wait and wait and then we got a call from the doctor saying the amount of money we had wasn’t good enough the only other thing would be putting him to sleep if reading these reviews first maybe would have saved my baby boys life I would have just taken him somewhere else and he would be here with me today.
Wait times are long, but that makes sense as it is an emergency room. They are very understanding, knowledgeable and I have been there multiple times with varying dog issues. The staff works hard and should be commended for this stressful job!
Never imagine we had to take our cat here. But couldnt have thought of a better place. Extremely accommodating, very helpful and incredibly sincere. A bit pricey, but what is money when it comes to a family pet?We had to put our cat down. Painless euthanize procedure and spent as much time as we wanted before we committed to it. He was 21 years old, a tank, a long time family pet. He held on till the last minute. We couldnt bare him suffering anymore. He will be missed terribly. This place helped us all the way through and after we had him cremated presented us with a beautiful bundle that we have displayed in our home.Thank you for making this as easy as possible during our extremely emotional visit.
Dr. small and her entire team (minus the one rude receptionist I get on the phone from time to time) are AMAZING! I cannot say enough about how comfortable I am when my dog Tinky is under their care and I always know that the services rendered and recommended are ALWAYS in my little Tinks best interest and not financially driven. I trust Dr. Smalls opinion 100% so much so that I drive 3.5 hours for Tinkys visits every few months. It saddens me knowing one day I will have to move Tinky to NC state Cardiology when they open back up after covid but I am so grateful for all this hospital has done for myself and Tinky since she first came into our lives. Keep up the good work! Tinky says thanks for the treats everytime she visits :)
We are so thankful to the staff at The Cove for their kindness and excellent care they gave our Shih Tzu tonight. I had heard how good they are, but I was able to see it tonight. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took such good care of our boy.
DECLINED TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR PITBULLSMy puppy was really sick & she sat on the phone asking me all these questions & once she learned he was a Pit Bull declined to service me which is so wild to me because how are you a vet that take all dogs except for Pitbulls or dogs that are an “aggressive breed”. So prejudice
Horrible.. absolutely horrible. Do NOT take your beloved pets to this place. I wrote a negative review last night and it appears it was removed. What a shock
We had an emergency with our cat, they were able to get us in and be seen relatively quickly. We were very pleased with their service. Months later our dog needed leg surgery to repair a ligament, the surgical staff did an excellent job and was very responsive post op and with follow up appointments. After he recovered his leg was truly back to normal, you cant even tell he had an injury. I recommend them.
About two months ago I checked my dog into this vet because of a car accident that left my dog with hemorrhages on both eyes. But his right eye he went blind and experienced the most trauma. I was there for hours in the middle of night when they told me the best solution was Enucleation IMMEDIATELY (removal of his eye) because the amount of pain he was in. I was heartbroken!!!. I’m not sure what this vet specializes in but it’s definitely not the eyes. There should be no reason I should be told something so severe with no real help done or effort in helping my dog. So I decided to let him stay overnight so he can receive pain medication until I could take him to a different vet in the morning. If your dog has eye related injuries please go to ANIMAL EYE CARE (theirs a location in Chesapeake and one in Virginia Beach) They even told me he even fractured parts of his skull and it was way too early to give him anesthesia to take his eye out ANYWAYS! Literally they saved my dogs eye from getting taken out, gave him stitches and did whatever necessary to try and fix his eye. I had to give him eye drops and medication everyday for about two months. His optic nerve was damaged from impact but I did not have to take his eye out. So even though he may not look how he use to look, my dog is still happy, healthy and has two eyes! I can only imagine how many dogs eyes got taken out but could’ve been saved. This vet is open 24 hours so just use it for the time being until the animal eye care facilities open in the morning if the incident was late in the night. Otherwise just go there for eye related injuries.
The Cove took awesome care of my cat and had her back to her old self in24hrs❤️
The Cove is an amazing vet specialist location. The people who work there are incredibly kind and honestly made me feel like they actually cared about my pet. I had to bring my kitten, Halo, in for dental surgery, and the vet and staff were very thorough in answering any questions I had and provided plenty of info on followup care. They did a great job with the actual procedure, and my pet is doing better than ever. I want to thank the staff of The Cove, and I 100% recommend them if you need specialist care for you furry loved one.
If I could rate them no stars I would in a heart beat. As an LVT of 6 years I expect more understanding from vet staff than this place will ever know of. To brush a person off when they ask questions is disgusting, unprofessional and a disgrace to the vet medicine community. A cat, a dog, anything should not be a dollar sign to you. So when a scared and concerned and stressed pet parents calls because her cat needs surgery she should not be hanging up the phone CRYING because vet staff cannot act professional or compassionate. Your pet parents? Then do better.
Dr Nobles and her excellent staff saved my cats life. My 4 yo kitty Puck was diagnosed with a urinary blockage, which is life threatening. He was in their critical care for 3 days. Each and every day, I received telephone updates, by the vet tech and Dr Nobles. Dr Nobles is an amazing Vet, I felt she went above and beyond just caring for Puck, she cared about what I was going through seeing my furbaby so very sick. She continues to see Puck every 6 months- this is a lifelong condition, so he needs monitoring, I always know Puck is in not only the best hands, but the kindest hands. Bless you Dr Nobles!
The staff is very caring and professional. I would recommend the COVE.
We were referred by our vet for a cardio issue. My wife was told to arrive at 11AM and was told upon arrival that the team was out for lunch so she would have to wait for the tests. After waiting over 5 hours in the parking lot because of COVID protocols she asked what time our dog would be released because she had an important work call and was informed that we could pick our dog up at 8:00 PM. When I arrived at 8 PM I was told the doctor was inputting her notes but that it would take another 45 minutes to an hour for her to be released. I couldn’t understand why it would take 45 minutes to type up notes. I waited over an hour and then saw the whole office returning from what appeared to be a work party. Totally fine except I drove from Norfolk and spent an hour because we were lied to about why we couldn’t pick up our dog after 10 hours. When we finally paid our almost $1500 bill we were told results were inconclusive, monitor her and if necessary call for a referral to another vet. Wondering if they get a nice referral fee. When we arrived home the dog drank copious water. We removed it from her 5x and she then threw up. Her stomach had rashes from the tests. This was absolutely an awful experience. We will never use or recommend this group. Read reviews. We are now also reconsidering our primary vet. Ps- I don’t write reviews. I believe in supporting businesses. But not those that deliver awful service, lie to their customers and fail to offer any reasonable results/guidance for their money. Truly the worst veterinary experience I have ever had. Ps - 20 staff members at 9 pm should give you an idea of why the bill is $1500. Should have seen all the cars waiting out front. Printing money.
I took my cat here as an emergency... 1 cost after the other... I ended up unfortunately calling services to haunt because they kept charging me without ANY answers. They truly take advantage of a vulnerable circumstance.I absolutely recommend else where.
Carried my dog there the vet was very sweet and kind and took her time but i left there still not knowing what is wrong with my dog it was as if she gave me five different possible causes of his condition it was the same info i found On google before arriving at the hospital which was a bummer because for $585.00 dollars i already searched what she said which means i left there still not knowing what is wrong with my dog and to watch him suffer at home after X-rays and panel testing done at a hospital really sucks not sure what to do at this point😪🤧
I have been to The Cove four times now, and every time is impeccable. The service is amazing and the way they treat your furry family members is superb. If I could give them ten stars I would in a heartbeat. As I was sitting outside waiting for my boy kitty I saw an amazing site that I could not NOT take a picture of. This doctor took off her jacket and put it over the dog while it was raining and so he/ she could go to the bathroom. This place warms my heart and I would trust them with any animal.
They gave quality care and answered all of my questions thoughtfully. The day I went there, they were super busy with what seemed to be lots of serious cases. They use a triage system where more life-threatening issues are addressed first, so its not a first come first served policy. I had a dog with a wound infection but he was relatively stable, so we were pushed back as more urgent cases came in and experienced a 7.5 hour wait time in which my dogs condition worsened. But, they still got to him in time and took care of him. I think this place was doing the best they could with high volume and the staff was so kind. I am mostly writing this review so others are prepared for long wait times because I was not! I recommend bringing snacks, any needed medicines, phone chargers etc. If you have an animal that doesnt have a higher level triage issue it may be worth it to try to go during an off time or at least calling in advance to gauge what their wait times are like. With COVID curbside structure, the only bathroom they have is a porta potty in the parking lot. There are food places and shops close by fortunately.
I have had to take my cat to the cove when he got sick and needed to be admitted. They took care of him and kept me updated. I really appreciate them and Im glad they are near me. I do find they are quite expensive though. I just figured that the cost would be high as it is emergency care, but then my friends dog got admitted a month later into a pet hospital in Va Beach for the exact same diagnosis and their deposit fee was $1000 less than what I had to pay. Her dog is the same size as my cat and they are on the same medications. Why is that?
Unfortunately our baby girl Treasure was called to heaven...The wonderful employees of The Cove were so sympathetic, heartwarming, and caring, and the little things that followed were very endearing....This is an exceptional crew of individuals...❤❤❤
Excellent customer service and fast service as well. This place is clearly a cut above all the other vets in town. They took my cat in on a busy Saturday. They had canopies set up outside so you don’t have to sit in the heat. Vet diagnosed my cat, wrote the prescription, filled the prescription and delivered my cat to my car in about 15 minutes. This place understands exceptional customer service and quality care. I just hope my cat makes it: he’s 17 and has a really bad upper respiratory infection. He’s been through a lot and the love I have for him is very strong. Thank you Cove team for being great, you just earned a life long customer. I WILL not be going back to any of the other vets in the area except for the Cove. Friendly staff and a top notch vet that knows her stuff!
We brought our five your old Jack/Beagle mix here today for a cardiac related issue. I have always left emergency vets feeling skeptical. Today I left with the utmost comfort in a Veterinarian. Dr Small was incredible and kept us updated throughout the testing and her tech Shannon was also wonderful with keeping us informed over the phone. The care for our Ollie boy was great, and the fact that they cared to keep us informed and up to date so often shows a great pride in their jobs and a love for the animals that they care for, as well as the pets owners. Highly recommend.
They saved my brand new baby Sphynx from pneumonia. I had only had him 12 hours before he began to get very sick. They called twice a day with updates and gave him a ton of love. He had to stay for two days but I had peace of mind knowing how professional and compassionate they were. I wouldnt hesitate to trust them with my animal again.
The staff at the CoVE are truly AMAZING! Dr. Stallings did fantastic work on our Dixies injuries! We absolutely love all the team members at the CoVE! All the members gave such personal attention to Dixies care that left a heartwarming imprint to our family! Dixie has a special place for her Auntie Courtney! We truly admire and appreciate the care and personal attentiveness that each member takes with the fur babies! IF you ever have to take your pet here for any reason; The CoVE is a terrific facility we highly recommend!!
I am so grateful to The COVE. I brought my 16.75 year old rat terrier mix in at 4 am still in my PJs - no judgement. It took a minute to get an idea of what was wrong with Summer, but it was very clear that theyd been thorough with what they told me could be going on. They recommended she be admitted - wont lie, that was expensive. But they ARE a specialty ER, so what could I expect? I called close to every 2 hours asking for updates or having questions - no judgement, they were incredibly patient with me. I took her home later that night AMA - no judgement. I brought her back in around 6:30am the next day in my PJs again - no judgement. I expressed financial concerns - no judgement. In fact, they offered alternate labs we could run on her as well as outpatient care. They gave me a quote on treating her ailment - I literally cried on the phone about the price, but they remained calm, compassionate & professional on the phone. I called Summers PCP & got a cheaper estimate, one that I could afford - no judgement. I called them back with questions about pain management because her PCP office closed for the day - STILL no judgement. This place has very much so earned my trust with any future pet emergencies (knock on wood).
Thank you so much for taking care of our kitty. Great service!
I didnt like it very much to say the least. I wouldnt recommend going there if you cant afford 200-400$ just for a minor injury and over 500$ total of an x-ray or something small. The prices are outrageous, it seems they care more for money than the pets themselves. I had to sit in my car for 4-5 hours for a very minor injury a few days ago. I couldnt even see my pet while I was there. Thats messed up that I have to leave him with strangers for hours. Very unprofessional dont think Id recommend. You would be better off both financially and happily just going to another place.
Dropped my dog off for an emergency visit and was told at 7pm they would call me in an hour to an hour and a half with results of lab work and X-rays. After I made multiple calls to them, they finally called me at 2am!!! To top it off, the vet visit was $1000 for them to say they have no idea why my dog can’t walk all of a sudden and sent him home.
Brought our dog in for a UTI, they needed to sedate her to get a clean sample of urine. Told us we’d get a call in 3 days with results on what antibiotics to use and they started her on one. They called us 5 days later and said they just received a call that our sample was “damaged during shipping” and we’d get a refund for them taking the sample, $170, but not for them sedating her because “the medicine was already administered” or for the exam fee. We were extremely frustrated and started to type up a complaint before receiving an additional call from the administrator. The administrator was very helpful and explained what happened with the sample. She ended up giving us a refund for everything except 1/2 of the exam.Overall, the staff at the COVE were extremely helpful and professional. This wasn’t a good experience for us, but they remained helpful/compassionate throughout.
The cove has professional Doctors there and can treat your pet without hesitation
Front desk staff is very rude over phone.
Had an emergency with my pup on a Sunday, so had no choice but to bring her to the cove as opposed to a regular vet. Everyone was very polite and helpful, and the process was relatively quick. I called ahead, and the kind girl on the phone got as much info that she could in order to streamline the process. My only issue is the fact that despite the high fees and our $500+ bill, I still need to pay another vet to remove her staples. I understand that most vets include removal as part of their suture fee, so I find it quite wrong that that’s not the same here given that the fees are higher than a regular vet.
I appreciate The COVE being available during a pandemic. The person who I spoke to on the phone was kind, understanding and didnt pressure me one way or the other when I was making a decision on bringing my kitty in for diahrea and vomitting. She had lots of helpful tips and took down my information if I did decide to bring her in, so the process wouldnt take as long. They were kind and gentle when dealing with my kitty and kept me in the loop for further treatments and the pricing of each treatment. It has only been a day since we were there but with the medication and treatment they provided my baby seems to be feeling much better.
They have been nothing short of amazing with my sweet old girl. I took her in with a heart rate that would have killed her and they got her right back and took good care of her. Although the initial visit and overnight stay was expensive it has to date (over 3 months) included constant communication on how she is, medication changes without coming in, and Dr. Small monitors her heart rates regularly through emails I send in. The time and hours of specialist care they have provided for my dog via phone and email have far exceeded what Ive paid for at this point. On top of that I have had to take her back a couple of times for check ups and their prices are so much more affordable than my regular vet. I would have lost my Miley girl if not for Dr. Small, Marie and the rest of the amazing people at the Cove and for the extra time Ive been given I can never thank them enough! Theres a lot of negative about the cost in these reviews but emergency care is expensive and I promise you with the amazing follow up care they provide you will be getting your moneys worth!
Our sweet, amazing and loving dog Indy developed concerning symptoms about a month ago. He just turned 6, and we thought he was just being picky with his food. After taking him to the vet and them referring us to the Cove I became very nervous. Not only was I worried about the bill, but I knew in my gut it wasnt going to be good news. But the staff at the Cove were nothing but kind, caring and compassionate. The doctor called me the next day explaining his bloodwork very thoroughly (so I could understand on my non-educated level :)) and agreed that the best thing would be to put him to sleep. My husband was on his ship and only days away from coming home. My three young kids sobbed in the room as they said goodbye, and the staff gave amazing advice on being honest but protecting them from the actual process. Since they did not go through with all testing planned, they refunded me quite a bit back (which I never would have known the difference). To me, this is a sign of complete compassion as these places are targeted as a rip-off They then took it a step further to send me literature on how to cope, a signed poem, and flowers to plant in memory. If you are reading these reviews, you are most likely considering taking your pet. I was doing the same prior, but I am so thankful to have gone here. The doctor was very loving, and explained the process as it happened. They were very open to my wishes.Thank you so much for allowing us closure in such a caring and considerate way. I will forever recommend this place!
I can’t thank this ER staff enough for getting me answers as to why my dog is having internal bleeding. My vet referred my dog to Blue Pearl ER in VA Beach who wanted $4000 to hospitalize & test if the doctors could “fit him in” within 2-3 days. Unable/unwilling to pay that, I called The Cove and they saw him right away. Dr. Granata was thorough in her exam, tests, and recommendations. The staff answering my questions on the phone, assisting me with the new patient form while I’m in transit to their location were all very compassionate and understanding while dealing with nerve wracked pet owners. For $650, I was able to get the ultrasound, other tests, and information necessary to make decisions for my pet. Highly recommend this clinic.
I chose to take my 7 year old pittie Fiona here to have a large tumor removed from her front right paw. Due to the tricky placement of it, no “standard” vet would do the procedure. From the moment I took her in for her consultation, the COVE team was there for us every step of the way. This surgery is not cheap no matter where you get it done, so I naturally had my worries about getting my money’s worth. The team at the COVE made it worth every single penny. From check-in calls to my cell phone in between visits, to 24/7 responses about post-op procedures at home, they showed they truly cared for my girl. Dr. Stallings admitted it would be a tricky area to close properly once removing the tumor, but 4 weeks post-surgery and you can barely tell there was a procedure done. The empathy and professionalism of the team at the COVE cannot be beat. I can’t imagine using any other vet in the future. My sincerest thank you goes out to the entire team there, most notably Dr. Stallings, Rhiannon, Lily, Autumn, and Tyler.
Was referred for an emergency c section. Fortunately pup finally passed not needing surgery and mom was seen by a vet for follow up. My issue was cost quoted was 5 to 8k. I checked with other vets and they are in the 600 to 800 range. Before lecturing me that this is emergency care (of which Im clearly aware already) and it is 24/7 care so costs are higher, maybe someone should look at managing costs. If vets who are open only 50 to 60 hours a week can manage to stay in operation charging nearly a 10th of what a 24 hour operation does, you have to wonder what these exorbitant prices cover. If you have a choice and time, the Cove should be a second or third choice.
They only want your money and lots of it they could care less about your animal
The attentiveness of the team about my dog was amazing, especially since it was such a severe situation!!! They figured out the diagnosis of my dog very quickly and turns out it was a rare disease. They got right on treatments right away, they said she could come home a little after 24 hours. Now its been roughly 72 hours since she was on deaths doorstep and now shes running around like nothing happened, Im truely grateful for yalls help. They updated me multiple times a day !!!! Answered all my questions when I called them way too many times. They always made sure I understood everything they told me before I got off the phone. They genuinely seem like they care about getting our animals the best treatment and attention. The morning tech said the night tech was giving her love and feeding her chicken trying to boost her spirits 🥰 which made me very happy. The only issue I had was that they wanted a RIDICULOUS amount of money upfront just to do diagnostics on her or my other option was basically let me take my dog home and she could have possibly died.If I didnt have someone who was generous enough to help me, I wouldnt have been able to afford just the deposit for her treatment. Which blows my mind. A dying person with no insurance can go into a hospital and get treated with no questions asked but with an animal its a different story, like they arent living, important creatures like humans are.Yall should really look into working with people financially in a better way in life threatening situations I had with my dog.And the carecredit thing is also not a good option because not everyone has good credit.Money shouldnt be a deciding factor to determine our pets fate !!!!! These pets are our children we love them just the same .Other than that thank you for saving my baby.
So, on June 10th I took my dog Prince to the Cove hospital because he hasn’t been eating for months, other than that, my dog is fine. Long story short, I took my dog in for one thing, and now because of the prescription they gave my dog he came out WORST after seeing the vet. He now has diarrhea to the point where blood is in his stool.I told the doctors that he might be having a reaction to the medicine they gave him because he is acting unusual, twitching, non-stop moving, etc, I sent them videos as proof and they said he just looks like he is getting comfortable. That annoyed me because I am sure they saw more that a dog just getting comfortable. I informed them, this is abnormal behavior. So she said to bring him in. I brought him back and they told me, his vital signs are the same and sent him back home with me. Since this doctor’s visit, my dog has diarrhea with blood in his stool and although he is no longer twitching, his behavior is still different. I feel this hospital is OVERPRICED and clearly inexperienced. I am in the military so I travel a lot, because of this, my dog has been seen by other vets. This by far has been the WORST experience. I will NEVER take my dog back there. I wished Barker Animal Hospital was able to see Prince instead, now I have a sick puppy.
Because I volunteer in animal rescue, I have more after hour animal emergencies than most. I am extremely thankful for the COVE. The staff is always professional and caring. The doctors take the time to explain what is needed and answer all my questions. My animal is always taken right back for assessment. If I have to wait I understand they are working on an emergency situation. That’s the nature of what they do !! Only once did I have a small issue and when I spoke with the manager she listened and was extremely caring and helpful. I can’t ask for any more than that from any business !THANK YOU to all the wonderful staff at the COVE.You’ve been there time and time again for me and my fur babies !!
Tonight we took our baby pixie into the cove for emergency treatment. We were so hoping for a positive outcome but they did nothing for her. She had three seizures today and one yesterday. They gave her fluids and said her blood work looked fine. Which cost over 600.00. they then told us to keep her overnight and run more test we would need to pay 2000 to 2500 which would still not guarantee they would know what was wrong. We asked if they could at least prescribe her pain medicine and they said she did not look to be in pain. They also said she was latgargic as if it was no big deal. She cant walk and has been through so much. She is now on her way home with no guarantee shell make it because we could not give them 2000 dollars for testing. Just so heartbroken a vet could in good conscience do this to any animal.
My dog was seen by Dr Small at 13 weeks to evaluate a murmur detected by her primary vet. She was given a poor prognosis, but the compassion of the staff and the thorough care and follow-up was exceptional. She lived 14 months, and in that time we visited The Cove a number of times, both for routine cardiac visits, as well as 2 emergency visits. Each time, I felt like my girl was treated with the utmost care and attention. We had to say goodbye to her last week, and today I received the most thoughtful packet from them in the mail. I pray I never have another chronically ill animal, or that I ever have the need for an emergency vet; but in the event I need either, I will drive the extra distance to take them to The Cove.
The service was wonderful and friendly. We want to especially recognize Yelmarie for her kindness and helpfulness in taking care of our dog. The Vet communicated with us professionally, courteously, and concisely. He helped us understand our options to helping our dog. We will be recommending this location and return if a future occasion arises. Thank you!
The doctors here do great work. Ill admit theyre on the expensive side but thats to be expected from an emergency clinic. Ive unfortunately had to come here with 3 of my animals since theyre the only ones open most the time during COVID shutdowns and theyve always taken care of my pets. Not to mention everyone Ive dealt with has been very kind and professional. Had a puppy stay over night due to random seizures and I was able to call them at 2 am for an update so my stressed self could get some peace. All in all, theyre worth the price when your pet needs EMERGENCY care. If not, make an appointment for a regular vet.
We brought our boy Blaze in, in a blink or an eye he was sick. The staff at the cove is by far the best. They took him in kept us informed with everything and treated him right. We new he was in good hands.
I was really impressed by the professionalism of the staff and how thorough they are with examining my pet. I would recommend using them if you have an emergency or can’t get into your regular vet but need your pet to be seen soon. I felt like both the technician and veterinarian were compassionate and genuinely cared about my pet. I felt comfortable with them taking her for testing and they explained everything that was going on the entire time so that I would know what to expect. They also called two days after we were in to check on my girl to see how she was doing and make sure nothing new developed or see if I had any questions. The pricing is higher than a regular vet but I wouldn’t expect any different from a place that has staff available 24/7.
For 3 years the Cove took great care of our dog Shadow, but when we needed them the most they let us down!! On October 9, Shad was having problems with pounding heartbeats and non stop reverse sneezing(questionable). He was given oxygen, chest X-ray done, and discharged 2hrs later!! He was very lethargic when we took him home and called to ask the Cove if he was sedated. They said no!! About 4 hours later we rushed him back to the Cove for severe Shortness of Breath!! He died 2 hours later. We never saw the Dr either time Shadow was at the Cove( not even when he died). When the tech let us in to see Shad after he died his eyes and mouth was open!! My husband and I will never forget that last picture of Shad!! I addressed my concerns with the co-owner who told me she thought Shad was treated ok by vet on call. She would address to staff about how Shad looked at viewing and Dr not talking to us! We told vet at 2nd admission (phone call) to please let us know if Shad condition worsens as we wanted to b with him!! Needless to say we got there too late!! No labs were done on him and not sure about echo!! He has had CHF for 3years!! They did do 2 chest X-rays.. Euthanasia was written in his chart but Euthanasia was never mentioned by us or ok’d by us!!! I think if Shadow’s condition was handled properly at the First Admission he would be with us today!!!!!
We took our dog here & discovered he had an intestinal blockage & would need emergency surgery. When I told Dr. Garata the price was a bit too high for our budget, she contacted another vet & arranged for our pup to have his surgery there at a price that was more within our budget. She sent over his x-rays as well. I really appreciate her professionalism in going out of her way to help us & our dog.
The Cove and the staff are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.! During a stressful and confusing time the staff was extremely patient and informative. My 10 year old female pitt was having a hard time breathing and couldn’t walk. She’s never had issues before so when she started getting stiff and pale in her mouth I really thought I was going to lose her. By this point I’m frantic. I rushed her to 2 different vet clinics around my neighborhood and neither could get in her in. Finally we went to the cove and even with no heads up they were able to her here in immediately. When she went in we were both pretty scared she hasn’t been to a vet in years and doesn’t like to be away from my son at all. The staff gets her in and she’s scared but they were talking to her and just being so sweet. I could hardly get my words out and catch my breath. They just patiently listened and asked a few questions here and there. While my sons dog was in their care they called me and let me know where my total was and what all they could do as well as how much that would cost me. They were extremely informative and they didn’t push or rush to do things that weren’t necessary at that time. After I got her home I realized they even clipped her nails which made me so thankful because with COVID-19 places are packed and it’s impossible to get her in when I’m not working and doing virtual learning with my son. When our family dog Remy went in she was having a hard time breathing and she couldn’t walk at all. When this fatgirl came out she was walking right next to one of the staff members with her tail just a wagging, like nothing had happened. Her discharge papers were easy to read and explained everything they did when she was in their care. The only way I can describe my experience with the staff at the Cove and the great care of my dog is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.!!! So thankful for the staff here.
Charged us over 7 thousand dollars for a dog biopsy that normally costs between $700 - $1000 elsewhere. Minimal work actually done. Osteosarcoma diagnosis without the blood work to match the diagnosis. Offered to do an over priced amputation after the over priced biopsy. Minimal follow-up contact. Dont go here if you can avoid it. There is a reason this place has so many 1 star reviews.
THANK YOU Dr. Small for being a WONDERFUL cardiologist to my Winnie. Winnie is 14, and my Vet, Dr. Del Harbour, referred us to Dr. Small when he developed a heart murmur rather quickly. I appreciate being seen ON TIME. I appreciate Dr.Smalls thoroughness in Winnies treatment, and even having meds ready for me to pick up when I couldnt get my refill online (due to being unavailable). I also appreciate the fact, that while thorough, Dr. Small does not over prescribe tests when not necessary, keeping costs in line. The staff is wonderful. I have had to use their emergency services as well, and while expensive, well worth the care they provide for our fur babies. Thank you all!
Vets seem nice, staff is terrible. I understand that the job is stressful and owners can be rude, but the staff should be trained for this. The staff was rude and lied about their experience with CH cats. They charge a lot more (thousands) than surrounding emergency vets. They will send your pet home before they are better. I had to take my cat back to an emergency vet after being seen here. If your animal can make it, take them to Yorktown.
Prompt friendly service. I appreciate their COVID precautions.
Understood my pet’s need for a thorough evaluation that valued the circumstances for the situation.
The Cove took care of my beloved Luna cat during her recent illness and passing. As she was my first cat, and my companion of more than 12 years, the prospect of losing her was extremely difficult, and managing her multiple major conditions (heart disease, GI disease, and emerging kidney issues) was also quite a challenge. What made all this bearable was the kind treatment and quality care Luna, my wife, and I received from everyone at The Cove. I cannot remember every doctor, tech, and client liaison we interacted with, but everyone was kind and highly competent. Luna got prompt diagnosis and treatment. Staff vigilantly followed up on her, and were willing to answer every question we had, taking as much time on the phone as was necessary so we understood what Luna needed. She saw techs and vets who always had her best interests at heart, and did their best to keep her healthy in spite of the conflicting treatment needs of her conditions. The night we rushed her in with rapid breathing, she was taken immediately back for care. And we left her there knowing that, though the treatment we undertook carried its risks, if anyone could help her, they could. They do as well at caring for the people as they do the animals. When it became apparent that we would have to let Luna go, The Cove made a heartbreaking experience as gentle and easy as it possibly could have been. The respectful care of her body and return of her remains in a beautiful box reassured me that she was loved to the end and beyond. I will always miss her, but I take comfort in knowing that she had the best care, the best fighting chance, and ultimately, the peace she needed. I highly recommend The Cove to any pet owner, especially if your pet needs emergency care.
Our beloved Coco was seen here for an emergency. The staff are excellent and made Coco very comfortable in her final hours. We were given as much time as we needed with her and were able to stay with her while she drifted peacefully. Our beautiful girl was able to transition in a peaceful and loving environment. It was a hard situation but it was made easier by wonderful people.
My dog had to have emergency surgery today and because the Cove animal hospital estimated cost for the procedure was 5 times that of two other animal hospitals,I was forced to drive to Richmond as $5,000 to $7,000 dollars at the Cove versus the $1200 in Richmond was simply not affordable to a retired military family. Unfortunately for me and my family due to the extra time to drive to Richmond my dog passed while on the operating table. Had the Cove prices been anywhere close to reasonable, I believe our beloved dog, Sox, would still be alive and now in recovery. I did not want to give the Cove any stars, but that was not an option. Now I get to tell my two kids and wife they no longer have their pet of over 11 years.
Several years ago we took our chocolate lab, cocoa to our primary vet just for a yearly checkup and the car ride there turned deadly for her. She was unable to breath, teetering on suffocating to death, they stabilized her and told us she had a collapsed trachea and that there was a slim chance she would make it but encouraged us to hold on to hope because she could be that 5% even to just make it another week so she wasn’t stripped from us. We decided to hold on to that hope and they sent us to The COVE. They were ready and waiting for us when we arrived, immediately took her back, hooked her up to oxygen and sedatives to calm and stabilize her again. They kept her overnight for oxygen and monitoring and she was so much better the next morning. We took her home and she had to be on trazodone so she wouldn’t get too rambunctious and have all of that happen again. Unfortunately, she only made it another week and we returned around midnight the following Friday to euthanize her. I was ugly sobbing from having to lose two dogs in less than a year but they were so kind and compassionate through the entire process. I trust this place and their staff with my pets in their worst moments because I know they are trained, prepared, and knowledgeable.
Ive unfortunately had to bring 2 of my fur babies in to the Cove (a Bengal and Shiba Inu), but each time the experience with the staff has been excellent. They are not only incredibly skilled and attentive, I can tell they really care about the work theyre doing and the animals/families they come into contact with. They have a genuine way of easing your worries, even if just a little, and are always willing to answer questions in depth. Their patience with upset pet parents and kindness toward sick animals is parallel with their adeptness in a multitude of veterinary medical talents. Im constantly recommending them to everyone I know. I feel thankful to have them so close to me and feel completely comfortable leaving my four-legged kids in their capable hands. Should an emergency arrises again I wont hesitate to seek their help.
The Cove was not a good experience for me at all. They charged $140 just to see your dog. No treatment given. They told me my dog was resting fine and comfortable (did not look comfortable to me) and wanted to run some tests That cost over $750. I decided to take her to my vet the next day and my dog passed away that morning. They didn’t not tell her she bad off enough that she needed immediate help or I would have done more. I would NOT recommend their services for any pets. It was a Money-making place.
This vet will only do prescriptions based on diagnostic exams, they do not have the skills to properly assess dogs or other animals with sound vet assessment skills! A dog can be diagnosed with bronchitis vs pneumonia by assessment, an X-ray only confirms suspicion, but with pneumonia a high fever and other lung sounds are noted, bronchitis is in the bronchi of the airway, a thorough assessment would be clinically significant to determine the difference between the 2, this facility wants to up charge their rate to make money, 400$ for xrays and 170$ to see the patient, is completely unacceptable, review also submitted to the BBB and Vet associations! This is poor clinical service and poor healthcare for pets! Btw I’m a Nurse in en Emergency room and am fully aware this is able to be treated without xrays! Kennel cough vs pneumonia are completely different in a thorough clinical exam!!08/05/2020-UPDATE TO THEIR REPLY: I’ve contacted 3 other Vets that all say this is false, all said that an exam can be done without Xrays in order to prescribe medications to help our animal, 2 even asked if I went to The Cove when I explained the situation, I said yes we did, I thought that very interesting, they explained exactly what I explained to your client liaison Hannah who is not even a medical profession, the other vets stated Xrays are not warranted and can cause increased harm, they also stated other ways to assess a dog is through lung sounds and checking the dog out properly, they also stated that it is not required to have Xrays to prescribe medications, btw so again, your statements are a lie, and again, despite you stating you were unable to perform an exam, your exam cost to just see him was $168, and furthermore we were told you wouldn’t prescribe without Xrays, so yes, you were unable to take my money at $168 just to tell us you can’t do anything without 400$ Xrays, and yes we’ve asked other pet owners if they’ve ran into this similar experience and all stated very similar situations in regarding to just performing a physical exam, in emergency medicine when Doctors perform Unwarrented exams and claim it’s law or needed, it’s called fraud, and is why most don’t do it! So you guy are doing this very thing and we were told many times that you wouldn’t give scripts to the dog without 400$ Xrays, so as stated before and through confirmation with the other 3 vet clinics, I will be reporting this as I stated above! Your gouging people during a time of crisis and that is completely unacceptable!! And my last name is BARKER NOT HESSJason Barker Paramedic, Associates in Emergency Medical Services, RN, ADN, BSN, EMERGENCY ROOM Registered Nurse and soon to be NP
I brought my cat there because she was declining rapidly. Her kidney values were high and she was having trouble breathing. I have never seen a more heartless vet. I asked a lot of questions and she grew increasingly frustrated at them and all i wanted to know is what else is wrong with my poor cat and what her outcome would probably be if i went with the $4500 treatment plan! All they cared about was money. If my cat wasnt suffering i would not have even let her put her down and brought her to someone that cared in the morning. She came into the room, loudly said what she would do, and put her down. No kind words were spoke to my cat or us. I will never go to their ER hospital again.
Clearly do not care about well being of your pet. Even the vet that referred me is disappointed with the Cove. When your baby is sick and needs help fast, dont waste your time here.
The Cove has been a fantastic vet for my cat, Fin, who suffers from tachycardia. The staff are professional and pleasant, and my experiences here have always been wonderful. I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else for specialty and emergency care for your pet.
I wrote a review, but it was too long and I will find a way to publish my whole story most likely Facebook, so here is an abbreviated version. My experience was beyond horrible. Our dying cat, was taken to the Cove to ease in his passing. Where we were systematically denied the ability to be with him in his final moments, despite repeated pleas to not let him die with strangers. We were told he passed, before we could see him again. Then we were told they called it too soon, but were still denied a chance to see him. Then finally he died and we were given excuse after excuse as to why we couldnt see him. The official answer there was a meeting of 100+ people. The pain we felt was immense and the disdain we felt from the veterinarian made it worse. The manager offered us condolences and apologies. We asked them to never put someone through this again and they said their policies will change. Well this post and my other post which will be made available through several social media outlets and perhaps the news. My name is Kyle Gross find me on Facebook @ kyle.gross.1420
Been taking many of peys here over the years and overall they are professional and kind. Recently I feel as if their heart isnt in it; on multiple visits with me and my cat and my mothers kitten we had to wait in our car in excessive heat to the point where the kitten had become dehydrated enough that she need iv fluids! When people arrive their pets should be taken inside in the a.c. asap! Feels cruel to leave a person hanging for 20-30 mins wheil their pet is panting and drooling(cats arent supposed to do that).7/25/20On my latest emergency visit to the cove last night I was very pleased at the quick response from the staff to get my cat inside and out of the heat. They have set up a few parking spaces with a tent/carport, to keep people and their pets out of the sun. As always the staff are polite and professional.
I had to put my pup to sleep on Saturday after noon and came here and they helped my thru everything from explaining what was going to happen to when I was going to get the ashes and how much they care
