We had Such a Great time Fishing aboard the Safari 1. Captain Rocky always seems to put the boat right on the fish. Pat, the mate was very helpful keeping baits on the hook for all the novice anglers and hungry fish. We seen numerous different species of fish caught while on board. It’s Always a great time fishing aboard the Safari 1 out of Port Salerno, Fl. I’ll definitely be back again and again!
Went out on Saturday 9/25/2021. Seas mostly 1 to 3 foot. Friendly captain and 2 great, hardworking mates. No really big fish caught but smaller, up to probably 4 or 5 lbs. A good time had by most. A couple of people werent used to boats and became nauseous. Take seasick pills if you think youll need them before getting to the boat. Boat gets underway at 8:30 am. Call on day prior or early same day to make sure boat is available and not undergoing maintenance. Mates are skillful and put on new hooks and rigs quickly. They will filet your catch when the boat docks. Tip them as you would a waitress 15 - 20% of your fare or more, extra for cutting up your fish. Believe me theyre worth every cent. Will go out again with them.
Went with my family and had an amazing trip! This is great for family outings and very affordable. Go check out Captain Rocky and Pat out they are knowledgeable and fun!!
Best boat in town. Ive been going on it for 30 years. Myself, family and friends have never left without a keeper. The captain is extremely knowledgeable. He does his homework the night before so Ive never been to the same spot twice. He always put you on the fish. The mates really go above and beyond. Theyre very friendly, always want to help you and are hilariously sarcastic. Everything you want in a fishing trip. Dont be surprised if they change your tackle or give you premium bait to catch better fish. These guys really want you to catch fish. Highly recommended! Best trip we had with them was a dozen snapper, 2 cobias and a shark. You can also flatline. I got two bonito my last trip
A great boat the crew was very helpful and a enjoyable day with my family . with a family of six the trip was very affordable and well worth going fishing .I dont remember the mates name but they worked hard for us to have a great time
Amazing day fishing with these guys- beautiful sea, nice fish and an excellent time- so worth it for $60 for 5 hrs- best deal around- all around great day fishing on this boat- definitely will be going again!!
Capt. Rocky and mate pat are awesome best fishing experience on a party boat Ive ever had I will return
He put us right on the fish it was awesome! 10 out of 10 experience for me.Staff is awesome and welcoming.
Id highly recommend going on the Safari 1 Deep Sea Fishing. I just went this past weekend (weekend before Christmas) and had a great time. Unfortunately, I did get bad sea sickness from choppy waves, however, the boat mate Scott gave me a few tips on how to get rid of the sickness and keep fishing. I was super thankful for his help and concern. Overall my party of 3 caught 18 fish and it was a very successful trip for us. This was probably my 3rd time going out on the Safari and I can honestly say I always have an awesome and exciting time! Thanks again Scott!
I would definitely recommend Safari 1 Deep Sea Fishing. I went with a party of 5 and had a great time... even though most of us had symptoms of motion sickness. The friendly crew gave us helpful tips on how to alleviate the symptoms. Will be going back, hopefully this time more prepared:)Nikki at the restaurant next door was great!
Absolutely terrible. The captain and crew had very bland personalities and we caught nothing. I’m not too upset about having no fish to bring home but the trip wasn’t even entertaining. My family was bored the entire time hoping that we were gonna catch more than bait. But that never happened.
This was my first time on a charter boat and deep sea fishing. Went with three friends (it was one’s birthday). Caught mostly small fish. We were able to catch 3 decent sized snapper that we kept. The crew were marking the fish so that everyone would be able to claim their fish at the end of the trip. When we got to the dock, there was no kind of order to be able to retrieve our fish. The staff of the boat put all of the fish out to take pictures (I guess for promotional purposes/advertising). But then, people started taking fish. By the time I could ask for our fish, they had been given away. All we were told was “sorry”. Needless to say, we were not happy about the experience.
I had a great time I will definitely go again
Very very Disappointed with this charter. Booked the fishing trip for two people. DROVE OVER 3 HOURS plus hotel and gas, not to mention bait. Just to get a call saying they canceled the trip bc of so called rough weather. Im calling BS plenty of smaller boats and mid size boats were out fishing enjoying the day . Total waste of My time.
Look for better options. We went out on the Safari I for the 1st time last week and as someone who has done many party boat trips this was the only time I didnt get 1 keeper fish. We hit several spots and I estimate about a 1/4 of the fisherman got a keeper fish but even then no more than 1 or 2. All anyone was catching regularly were grunts, just bait fish. Very crowded, lots of line tangles, and disappointing fishing. Rough seas but that is normal this time of year. Really disappointed and I will not be back
We had a great time fishing and even though the fishing was slow, our mates Pat and Fin were wonderful. They were quick to help whenever we needed something. They always had a great attitude, even when they were really busy.
MATES WERE TERRIFIC WITH ALL THE YOUNG KIDS
Party boat goodness. Mixed bag day..when on the reef plenty of fish caught.
Not worth the money. I just spent $240 for 3 people to go with me and just caught 3 fish. 3 small fish. noone else was catching anything good either. just bait fish and small grunts. This boat doesnt know of a good fishing spot. At first i didnt want go fish with them because of the bad review but had a bday surprise for someone. ITS CHEAPER THAN OTHERS BUT NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Lady something something has way better ratings. Oh. Scott was the Boat bait guy . He is very nice.
Made a reservation thinking I was going fishing. NOT. Got there at 8am to find out they didnt have enough reservations to go out fishing. Now when I called I specifically asked are you guys going fishing the next morning the woman replied We go out every day. Someone should have called people back the night before when they knew they didnt have enough people. I could have went out deep sea fishing elsewhere. But because of the late 8:30 departure, you cant even drive to catch any other boat. Bad business all around.
Capt. Rocky is great! Put us on the snapper and kings
No one on the boat Caught Any keepers the captain stayed in same spot even when we had no bites not a good day
I went out on Safari one deep sea fishing trip and I am a amputee and they accommodated me was more than expected measures just letting people know theyre the just because youre maybe a amputee for handicapped in some way or form you still can have a fun adventure out on Safari one any Port Salerno Florida thank you Safari one
Service was ok fishing not so good.
Spent the whole time driving around. Did not get to fish for more than 30 min.. Do not go on this boat. They will rip you off.
Did not catch any keepers. Too many people fishing. Possibly due to Easter holiday. Went there with my son and dad. Experience was still very good for our first time fishing on the ocean. Had a few strong fish on.....but they got away. Crew was helpful and friendly. I would definitely do it again when I get the chance.
Nice to be able to spend day with grandsons and be together.
Rough day at sea today but the crew made the most of it really working hard to make sure everyone was catching something. I brought my 2 kids today on their first charter trip and they loved the experience. Crew was attentive to the kids and tried to help my son catch a baby shark. When someone else caught one they brought it up to show my son and daughter. Awesome experience and they leave at 8:30 instead of 8 like everyone else. Highly reccomend!
Nice boat and crew. Take it slow and easy. Take your seasick pills before the trip.
Great trip very helpful
This is bait casting and they overbook the boat to the point where you either catch a guppy or someone elses line. This would be a fun tourist trip if it werent for the supremely rude boat crew. You should expect about 75 reminders that they want you to tip them, and zero fishing advice. Hard pass.I see comments below regarding Scott. He expected fishermen to go out of their way to pay him because he deserved more He will fake friendliness until it doesnt serve his pocket book. .EDIT Scott sucks and I hope his business is dying. Rude person and Karma comes around.
We were going out today for my boyfriends birthday but got a call as we left the house that it was rough seas and not safe to go out. Im happy that they are professional and called not waiting till we got there to cancel. Will set up to go next weekend.
Wonderful trip! Couldnt have had a better crew & Captain. Crew was especially accommodating for all experience level fishing guests. Crew was especially safety and environmentally conscientious. They took special care to ensure minimal issues with fish we had to release due to size or season restrictions. Oh, and the fishing results and weather was also extraordinary. Highly recommend this experience as a great value and another Treasure Coast gem.
This was an exceptional boat ride! The mates are very knowledgeable and helpful. I got sea sick and Scott made sure I was taken care of 😁 I would forsure come back, maybe my stomach will be used to it now lol. Great first time experience with deep sea fishing. 🥰 Kudos to this crew.
We had a GREAT day of fishing out on the Safari! Our family went on a Sunday (3/4 day trip). In our party of 4 were both seasoned anglers & first timers. Captain Rocky put us on the fish & First Mate Butch helped us put them in the boat. Butch even cleaned our fish for us when we got back to the dock & sent us home with ready to fire dinner that night. GREAT service!!Though there are boats in the Tampa area, it was well worth our drive from the west coast of FL to fish this award winning party boat.We will be back to fish with you guys again soon!
I wish i could give this trip less than 0 stars. I think is really irresponsible to accept little kids on this boat. I went on this trip with my family (me, my husband and my 4 year old) and the sea was really really bad the boat move so much that you could no stand up without falling. This boat doesnt have the minimum accommodations to have kids or families. I truly understand that the water conditions is not their fault, but how can you accept kids on this boat??? even more, on the 3 minute introduction before we enter the boat they never mention safety precautions or even lifesavers. I thought this was going to be a beautiful experience with my family but it end up been a nightmare.
.Put us on fish both days.Had the best time ever.I will be back next year. The captain and first mate Scott were awesome.Best fishing ever. Thanks see you next year
I have always had a good time. If the fish stop biting in one spot, often due to a shark checking things out, the crew of Safari quickly moves to another spot.
I wish I can give no stars at all. This was a TERRIBLE experience for a family memory. I regret every penny I spent on this trip. The crew is unacceptable and careless in every way. The treatment towards the customers is awful and I get it was a slow day but the crew only cared for their success. Ignorance was consistently being observed. For instance, my brother was asking for help on his pole and the Mate completely ignored him. When someones pole was pulling the Mate said, dont get your hopes up(discouraging others). Moreover, in the end I gave a $5 tip since I believed the service was negligent. Consequently, the Mate didnt clean our fish due to our tip amount. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED AND DO NO RECOMMEND!!!
Safari 1 is Deep Sea Fishing at its Finest! That pretty much describes our trip on the Safari 1. The boat was in good condition, the captain and crew very knowledgeable. It was easy to see why theyve been repeatedly recognized as the best party/head boat around. Plenty of fish caught, snapper, grouper, sea bass, cobia. The crew was very supportive, not only of the experienced fisherman, but also for those out there for their first time. Patient with the kids, kind and considerate to everyone. Money well spent for an exciting day of fish and fun with my family. Thanks again to Captain Rocky, 1st Mate Butch and the entire Safari 1 crew, we really had a great trip and will be back soon!
Mother nature didnt allow for a good trip. It was to rough, nothing caught. Nice boat for party style fishing
I have fished the Safari 1 for many years and I have bad days and great days. Like catching a Sailfish and dolphins. I have very few problems while fishing and they were mostly other fisherman wanting take over the boat. I have found for the money to one of the best bargains for enjoyment in the area. No one can predict mother nature. I will be coming back and bring friends as I have in the past. The crew has always been helpful, sometimes a little gruff but that is to be expected with the variety personalities they have to deal with.
Had made reservations for today over two months ago. Came down from St Augustine to go fishing for three days with Safari. Was waiting for the lady to show when the first mate told me that the boat had been reserved by a group a month ago. Weather was sitting in for the next two days so that was not on them. However, I spent the money to stay here for four days to be told that you are bumped from the fishing trip because of greed. No phone call nothing. That is wrong and it could happen to anyone of you. They (safari) tells you to make reservations but does not honor them.
Had an absolutely wonderful day fishing on the Safari. The crew did an outstanding job on keeping everybodys lines in the water and on to fish. For those of us that were somewhat season fishermen they let us be but would come by occasionally to see how we were doing or to offer advice. All in all a great experience for our party of four. Thank you guys!!
Very disappointing experience and Ive been on many, many boats. Captain was lazy and had an extremely bad attitude on top of the fact that the boat did poorly on the catch. While we should expect him to put us on the fish it is understandable there can be a bad day but his uncredibly juvenile and sour attitude and the fact he didnt do anything to make the day any better are what justifiably earn him a very poor review. Note that many others have had the same experience with this captain and have written about it in the reviews so read the reviews and buyer beware. Need to care a little bit and put in the effort... ever heard of chum, captain? Dont waste your money or your time unless you are just looking for a boat ride. Recommend going on a different boat.
Cool experience if u havent sone deep sea fishing before... Beautiful scenery and jeff was awesome. He was very helpful.. And no matter how many times he had to help he was still pleasant lol
They should put the option of zero stars.the worst experience of my life as a fisherman. I restrained myself because I was with my son and my nephew and there were many children on the boat.but the crew is the most ill-mannered Ive ever seen in my life. One of them shouted at me because my line got entangled in a line from a friend of his. a lady who took a fish from her son because he was stuck helping his friend, the worst way to throw the money away ...
Took this boat August 10th for snappers. Had a wonderful time. At first, I was a little reluctant due to some of the reviews that I read, but I found the crew to be very courteous, helpful, and hard working. Eventhough I did not catch that snapper I was hoping for, I did not feel that we were place in places where there were no fish. The down side was the fact that the inside of the boat was small, no A/C, and a little boy decided to take up a large amount of space to stretch out and sleep. I look forward to sailing with Safari I again regardless.
I have lived in Stuart all my life and have had my friends and family accompany me on Safari I. The crew have always been accommodating and most knowledgeable in bottom fishing that I have seen on the coast. You never know what you are going to catch from one day to the next. The Captain has been there for many years and has the best bottom fishing spots around. It is well worth your time and money to check out Safari I for any occasion. Their is always a good reason for the Captains anchoring methods and staying stationary at times, whether it be weather, currents, safety and/or sea conditions. I keep coming back because they have a very good reputation in the area. They continue to win tournaments and recently received the award for Best Charter Boat.Check it out for yourself, Safari will not disappoint!
Had a great trip yesterday despite bad weather! Great action on the anchored spot with a bunch of fish caught ranging from cobia, blue runner to snapper and sea bass. Very friendly crew and great captain. There was great shark action and trying to catch cobia between them too.
A great fishing vessel. I always have a great time with a good catch. Captain Rocky is the best.
I loved the actual boat, but the staff ( scott) was the biggest A?? To everyone, this guy should not be working there. On top of that, he kept us till the end to clean our fish and we ended up not having it clean, we were there first, and he kept us last. We still gave him a $40 tip. Does not deserve it. The boat is highly recommended, but not that person.
Went on this boat today and was happy with the production of fish coming up with the boat but there is a whole lot more bad then good to say about this boat and I would never ever recommend them to anyone a couple reasons behind it is that1. The service was very very slow I had no bait took a long time to get more and this was a group of 5 I brought on this boat2. Very rude worker (Scotty) this guy is no joke a one of a kind disappointing man that is very selfish3. Me and my crew caught 9 fish so we ask him (Scotty) go plz cut are fish first because we have a person that has to catch I flight and he did say yes and then said the tip better be very good!4. So we tip have blank about and he was very unappreciated so we just left without are fish because of how uncomfortable he made me and my crew feelPlz don’t use this boat because you will understand what I mean if you do I never leave reviews but I have to let people know aboutThis boat and crew and staff!!
Small boat, a little tight but the captain got us on fish fast. Went a little further out than usual, made it up by staying out longer. Many, many keepers.
The staff is great and everyone is really nice.
Do not waste your time or money. Went to only one spot the entire morning and never moved but once to re-tie the anchor. We caught some SeaBass but all to small to keep.Came back early, but to make it look like we were out the full time he took very slow on the way back in.Not real friendly.Decided to take another charter later in the week out of Juniper (The Blue Heron). Had a great time, very friendly, and caught fish!
Its wasnt a good experience. The boat was very crowded and there was only one person working, Jeff, who didnt have the best people skills, and at times was very rude. While I realize that being the only person working he was very busy. However, when you pay for a service and then have to ask for even the equipment to fish with because the slot you are assigned to fish from doesnt even have a rod, it is frustrating. We were plagued with constant tangles and at one point several lines had to be cut to untangle the mess. While I realize that is part of fishing, it was about 15-20 minutes the first time before he even put a hook back on mine and several others lines. The second time this occurred it was about 30 minutes before he put tackle back on my line. He was the only one working as I had stated but still very aggravating to take your 10 year old son for his first deep sea fishing trip and have it turn out so badly.
We have found the Safari 1 the best fishing trip to go on... every time that we have gone on the Safari 1 the captain and crew have done a great job getting us on the fish!! Traveling from the west coast of Florida to fish on the Safari 1 we have brought home cobia, snapper, shark, grouper and mahi . You just dont know what you will catch. If you are in the Stuart Florida fish the Safari 1 for a great time.
This is the best head boat ever
My husband and I decided to take our son out for his birthday and also to find a local fishing boat that we can be regulars on but this trip was terrible. We paid and were assigned seats at the back of the boat where we were told fishing was the best but before we came to a full stop the regulars ran to the back, I asked about the assigned seating and was told that it wasnt really assigned seating. The captain parked the boat with the reef at the rear and so they were the only ones catching!! The mate spent the day drinking beer and fishing with his buddies using better bait and hogging the rear of the boat. My husband had to keep walking to the back for more bait which is the mates job!! I am disgusted!! I have been on many charters and never had an experience like this.
The first mate (Scott) was very knowledgeable and helpful, great fun, and we had a lot of good fish. They even cleaned our fish for us
Had good timeHowever the crew and owner are not worth dealing withThey act like you work for themThey lost two large fish and had NOTHING but bad attitudeDO NOT DO NOT USE THIS BOATIf you do please throw Scott overboard
The mates are not hired for their people skills. Scott thinks he is gods gift to the world. First of all they say you cant keep certain lengths of fish such as snapper under 14inches (might be different my memory could be off) so made us throw all the sea bass and snapper back that we caught that didnt meet these supposed standards. But at the filet table, other parties had their smaller fish. Why is this? Well Scott never answered, just provided me with his wise ass comment of youve asked enough questions oh ok. They probably kept all the snapper and sea bass that my family caught for themselves when they took the questionable sized ones away to measure. He also took 2 hours to clean our fish, even though we had 8 or 9 and another party had 25. He just kept pushing ours to the side and claimed we were relaxing at the bar when he specifically told us to go sit there and wait. Very arrogant and disrespectful. We will find another place and tell friends/family to do the same
Horrible, beat us old and not in very good condition. They take you out, anchor on junk fish. Go sit to Boynton and fish on Iskand Time. Much better.
Great ppl had a blast will come back and fish again when im in town
Great Crew knew where to fish.
Great people, great time...always!
Made a reservation 3 days before and the night before they called to cancel. My money was just spent at Lady Stuart and it was worth it
Find another boat, customer service is no good. The crew defeats the whole purpose of a day on the water! Scott has a very bad attitude.
Ive been fishing on party boats for well over 40 years. My family even owned two of them out Port Canaveral in the 70s.I went out on the Safari I on June 10, 2013. Worst party boat experience Ive ever had.The mate was definitely not hired for his people skills. We left 20 minutes late. I naturally figured wed just stay out an extra 20 minutes to make up for it. Nope. We were actually back at the dock 20 minutes early! Yes, we lost out on 40 minutes total! We only went about 3 or 4 miles offshore. Im pretty sure it was because there were only 12 passengers so they werent making much, if anything, on the trip.Only 2 fish were caught. thats not 2 by me. Thats 2 on the boat. One keeper sea bass and one too small. We stayed on anchor at the first drop for an hour! Then only one more anchor drop before heading in.In addition to the above, they had this really weird rule. I had brought a spinning rod incase of cobia or dolphin or any other pelagic. The captain said he saw a 35lb cobia swimming around so I baited up with a sardine and tossed it out. Then went back to bottom fishing. The mate curtly told me that only one fishing pole was allowed at one time! Ive never heard of that rule on any other boat. They have another rule that is very iritating and they hover over to make sure you comply. While you bait your hook, the rod must be in the rod holder. If you catch a fish, your rod must be in the rod holder. Very, very iritating.
The best experience you can have offshore! i have fished the Safari 1 weekly for 5 years, most days we in an abundance of snappers, seabass, porgys, groupers, and mahi. the off days are due to the sea conditions not the crew! I have caught my first Cobia 25(lbs) Grouper (31 lbs) kingfish (28 lbs) Mahi (27lbs) amongst limiting out on snappers, sea bass, grouper! The captain and crew are awesome, great personality, great sense of humor, and really attentive to the anglers needs. NO WONDER THE WON THE BEST AWARD FOR BEST CHARTER BOAT IN THE MCAC TOURNAMENT 2013 also have watched them take 1st place 2 years in a row in the TCBA TOURNAMENT, AND PLACED TO 3 IN A MULITITUDE OF CATEGORIES! Dont believe the bad reviews, those are just folks who dont listen and cant fish!
Best fishing trip ever take care of you
The Captain and mate are the rudest people Ive ever met. Rude comments and pushed me and my group to the front of the boat so all the regulars could fish the back. I didnt tip and Ill never go back.
The crew was not very helpful and seemed to to be more concern about tipping.
Not such a good day...caught an aquarium size fish, they do not chum. I asked about chuming and the mate said we threw a few in!!!👎👎
Wish we had caught something, but we werent alone that day.
Nice guys fishing So So
Great fun and fishing
Gr8 time
Great
Always a blast on this boat
Terrible time
