I called ahead of time to volunteer here to find out what I can do to help because there are certain things physically and medically i cant do. So i talked to a lady name Shawna and told her I would like come and serve on the line. She said that is fine and all I needed to do was to show up. When I showed up at the time I told her I would she and another lady treated me in such an ungodly manner, I left. I suggests to anyone that is wanting to volunteer and help other, take your services somewhere else because these individuals that I dealt with today were not pleasant at all. Because I am a follower of Christ and I want to do his work, I will not give up on trying to help those in need. If there is anyone who wants to volunteer and help me continue working with the homeless and underprivileged, I am will to accept your help regardless of your abilities. I will never have too much or constantly tell you that others come before you and their time is more valuable because they have been serving longer. Whoever runs this place should talk to these ladies. If a volunteer comes out of their establishment feeling the way I do, thats not okay.I write this for awareness of how I felt leaving this establishment, not the good they do and the services they provide. This is an example of how not to treat others. You can always use the help if someone is offering to give it. Even if it is more important to have volunteers who are more important, there is no need to announce that to the new volunteer.Thanks.

I dont see how anyone could give this place anything less than five stars. My son and I volunteered there on Thanksgiving. The other volunteers and staff members were wonderful to work with. The food was outstanding. 95% of the guests were kind and appreciative. I think this is a great place that responds to a need. I plan on volunteering again as well as donating when we can.

Where the closest thing to God in Springfield, Il is. There are very few places where the unwanted can go...I first came here when I was homeless. When I started making better decisions and was able to provide certain things for myself...I still came back. Not just because the food was good or free. Not because some of the volunteers are beautiful. Not because I want to show or prove something. I appreciate all the times this place was there when I need them to be and they were. Not just me, all the people. Poor, homeless, struggling, happy...it didnt matter. You can feel that the people here give you an understanding of what God really is and how we should be going about our journey in life. Together. As one.

I dont give 5 stars to them for the food they make, I give it to them for all of the volunteers and their hard work, for feeding the starving masses that might have to go without food if it wasnt for them, and to the local businesses that donate food that people can take home with them. Everyone should show their support for what they do for the community, they deserve your praise.

The food is good there and the people who work there keep up to make sure the tables are clean. But sometimes I go in there and some of the food is not so great.

This was a place I could go and serve the needs of the poor and disenfranchised without having to fill out a ton of paperwork or jump through a bunch of hoops to determine if I was qualified to be a volunteer. The staff and volunteers are really great and it feels good to be of service to others.
