Denise Wend at Flawless Finish Electrolysis permanently scarred my face. It has been months, and it is still difficult for me to look at the damage to my face in the mirror. PLEASE do NOT go to Denise Wend at Flawless Finish for electrolysis. I had gone to her years ago, and she did a great job. I have friends and relatives who had a good experience with her years ago too. I trusted her because I had good results when I went to her before. From talking to others in Springfield and the other two reviews listed here, I think she is scarring every client she sees now.I had too much scabbing from my first visit. I didnt remember it being so painful when I had electrolysis done before. I believed Denise that this was part of the healing process. I am so upset with myself that I went back a second time. She worked on my face longer that time and created actual painful wounds on my chin, upper lip, and cheeks because she used too strong of current and worked on the sensitive skin of my face for way too long. Everywhere she worked on my face from the 2 visits is scarred.I have made many, many visits to my dermatologist at Springfield Clinic. It has been over five months, and finally the inflammation of the wounds is starting to heal. I will have to go through several procedures to reduce the scarring, but the scars will never be completely gone. The steroid shots to help flatten the raised scars is helping, and I will have to have a couple more round of shots. My health insurance has covered treatments so far, but all the other procedures will be out of pocket because they are cosmetic. My dermatologist has told me it will be at least 18 months before all the wounds will be completely healed and the best that they are going to look. There were lots of warning signs that something was wrong with Denise-She made a big deal about why there was not a sign on her office door. Something about the lettering not being as nice as the dentist office next door, and it hadnt been replaced yet. (She has been telling clients that for months and months.)Her appointment schedule is completely open. When I went to her years ago, she was always booked, and it took a while to get in to see her. I assumed her schedule being open had something to do with COVID, but now I know if people saw her once, they never came back because she scarred them.I had too much scabbing from the first visit. Denise kept saying this was part of the healing process. She kept saying, wear a mask! It will all be fine. I found out later from my dermatologist that everything she instructed for after care was completely wrong.Denise kept saying that she has never, ever scarred anyone when I questioned her about all the scabbing and why it was taking so long to heal.
READ FULL STORY OR SKIP TO BOTTOM FOR MAIN POINTS!!! I have never written a review before but felt that this was most necessary. I was looking for an electrologist in Springfield, IL and came across Flawless Finish Electrolysis. At that time there were absolutely no reviews found on this establishment but she stated that she had 30 years of experience so I chose to go with her based on experience. One review did finally post but it posted 1 week too late for me as the damage was already done. This why I am writing this review. To hopefully keep this from happening to someone else. I first seen Denise on November 4th, 2020 (5 1/2 months ago). I had been following different women’s electrolysis journeys on Youtube and I was excited to start my own journey. I was prepared for some discomfort and a little redness afterwards however the pain was way worse than I could have ever anticipated. She advised me that she was using a very high setting. When she was done I looked in the mirror and was extremely concerned. I had a lot of bleeding and burned in all the areas that she touched. Denise assured me that this was perfectly normal and that Ill be so happy with the results. She scheduled me again for November 6th and again on November 11th. I continued to raise concerns about my skin but she kept assuring me not to worry and that this was all a normal part of the healing process. I stopped seeing her after my 3rd visit because something just wasnt right. The pain was unbearable and she would also look away and reach for things or lean up to talk to me while the needle was still in my skin. It felt like she was burning a hole in me. My scabs burned for 7 weeks. I had blisters, pustules, scabs, scars, and acne outbreaks from having electrolysis done by her. I would call her with my concerns and she would continue to tell me that this was normal and everything was healing fine. When the scabs began falling off, they revealed chunks of missing skin the size of a dime. It looked as if someone left cigarette burns all over my body. I called around to get second opinions and help from other electrology and skin care places in town. I was told that my skin should in no way look like this from a skilled electrologist and that she was either careless, used too high a setting, didn’t know what she was doing or all of the above. I also sent pictures of my skin to scholars and authors who teach electrology in California and Miami. It was recommended that I see a dermatologist ASAP due to the apparent severe damage to my skin. The dermatologist confirmed that these are in fact scars that look to be in the form of burn marks as well as some post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. They have done several rounds of steroids with hydroquinone cream, microdermabrasion, and now onto chemical peels. So far, no success. This has been an absolute nightmare. Im so devastated with what she has done to my skin. What shes done to my skin is inexcusable, unacceptable, and unforgivable. 1. She never did a test area on my skin. 2. She used a very high setting before knowing how my skin would react. 3. She continued to treat me after seeing my skins reaction and continued to use high settings. 4. She continued to tell me that this was all perfectly normal and pushed me to schedule more appointments with her. 5. She gave me wrong after care instructions. 6. She didnt respect my health and kept her mask pulled down during each visit. She would also allow the same 2 visitors in the office without masks on during my appt (COVID-19). 7. No sign or business name on her front door that shows shes an established business. 8. Only accepts cash or check. 9. No soap in bathroom (same empty bottle each visit). I cant believe the state allows her to hold a license to be an electrologist. I cannot believe that the Electrology Association of Illinois has found her to be qualified or competent to work on someones skin. She has butchered and botched my skin beyond repair. My skin is permanently scarred. I would never recommend anything that has her name attached to it.
I have permanent scarring from my one session here. I brought up several times during my session that I was worried something was wrong, but was assured the bleeding was normal. It it now two and a half months later and my face is scarred in the pattern of a beard. Everytime I see my face now it makes me want to cry.
