Awesome experience. The barbers here are absolute pros at their jobs. They walk around you several times to ensure the cut looks the way you want it, fine tune it, all before showing it to you.

Everybody was really nice and personable. Just a relaxed great atmosphere. Highly recommend. All the chairs were full and a small wait. Great bar next door to kill the time.

Im absolutely stunned by the quality of my haircut. I just finished a round of chemotherapy so Ive been growing my hair and beard out. Logan did an amazing job sculpting (yes, sculpting like an artist) my hair & beard to look nice and full. I had several spots that hair was still thinning, but he made my hair look better than before chemotherapy! Ive given my business to three established barbers over five years within Springfield; Ive now found the one! I wish I could have tipped him double!

Waited for over an hour for nothing.. the barbers are great but the queue guy (3/6) is the worst! Been sitting there for over an hour not knowing that he took me off the list (cuz he said he called me already) and when I noticed that people has been passing by me, he said he’ll put me back on the list (and yes at the very bottom of the list again so i have to wait for another probably more than an hour again so i just left), he’s very unorganize and poor with communicating with customers. Worst waiting and experience in a barber shop seriously!

First time in the barber shop. There is little to no organization. Waited over an hour to watch 5+ people go ahead of me that arrived after me. Would’ve been understandable if they took appointments. When I asked what the hold up was, they stated”that’s what you get for a Friday night” from the helper “not every barber wants new clients.” Per the owner. This all took place while I watched workers/barbers drinking while at work. Zero professionalism and zero customer service. End result, no haircut. I wouldn’t recommend anyone here.

Fantastic cut from Tyler as always. During COVID they have a really good procedure for keeping people safe and they are all adhering to it which is more than I can say for most other places.

Everyone there does a great job with whatever cut you need. The bar is what makes the place, however. Friendly staff, a great variety of drinks to imbibe, and a laid back, old-fashioned feeling with decor to match.

They are highly skilled craftsmen in their craft and I see how they give newbies hands on training. I like my favorite craftsman Logan and love the bar!

Gentlemen in line in front of me was told “I’ll cut you in 25-30 min” when It was my turn to place my name on the list was told “since your my first time You will have a 2 hour wait “ trash customer service will not return again. Made an appointment for a cut and shave. Got me in on time, if not early. He took his time and made sure it was cut perfectly. Shave was great. Wish I could’ve stopped at the bar. I’ll definitely be back. Worth every penny.

Tyler has cut my hair a couple of times now and does an amazing job. My wife won’t let me go anywhere else. Had to wait a bit but the lounge was comfortable and relaxing while I wait. Couldn’t ask for a better place or a better barber.They do get really busy after 5 so if you can get in before that. No complaints it is wellWorth the wait!!!

Very cool place. From out of town and needed a haircut so chose this place based on the fact that they have a bar right there. How can you go wrong? Got a great cut at a great price in about 15min. Perfect.

Great place, been going here ever since it opened, Ive never had a bad experience, there is almost always someone available if you need to get in and out fast, and they are friendly. I usually ask for Tyler when I go but, I have used the other barbers plenty of times. They all do a great job and Jeremy does a great job training them up to his standards. Prices are more then fair, I would 100% always recommend this place if anyone asked for a good place to get a nice haircut.

Logan is a master of his craft. He shaped and trimmed my unkempt beard and I keep getting complimented. I’ve never had a bad haircut from him either. I would definitely recommend this place and asking for him specifically.

This shop is the absolute amazing! Jeremy is awesome, but Ive had great cuts from Tyler too! Well worth the trip! Having a beer while you wait or taking a few home is the best! I find it hard to believe anyone else stays in business with such a great shop!

Hair of the dog is the only place in town that I will let touch my hair. Jeremy is always so professional and an amazing barber. Today I went in for my normal monthly cut, but also brought in my 7 month old to get a cut as well. Tyler stepped up to the plate and did an amazing job and had great patience with my very observant son. Hes always looking around noticing things and he was literally trying to watch Tyler cut his hair. As long as Hair of the dog is open I wont go anywhere else. Plus you can get a drink while you wait... cant beat that.

Great shop! I just took my grandson. He was pretty nervous but the barber did a great job and put him at ease almost immediately. Very professional without a long wait. I would like to take my husband there.

My sons, age 7 and 8, had their best haircuts at Hair of the Dog. They were very professional and kind while they walked the kids through their cool fade cuts. One barber showed how the last haircut was uneven and she fixed it and explained the process. Great vibe and cool surroundings...will definately return!

You can have a beer or mixed drink while you wait, what is not to like? If you are halfway through your drink when you are called, they will hold your drink on ice or i. The cooler until you are done. They also do a pretty good haircut. They also have a game room if you get bored. The only thing they are missing are slot machines to play to pass the time.

The only barbershop I go to anymore. The staff is very professional, talented, and approachable. It reminds me of the old school barbershops my father took me to when I was younger. Prices are good to, get a haircut and a beard trimming for under $20.

Cool bar adjacent to the barber shop with a vintage antique interior. Lots of nice detail work in the space, original tin ceilings, woodwork, and a porcelain tap tower. Eight or so great beers on tap, including a couple of locals from Hand of Fate. The only downside is they close at 2pm on Sat., so get a cut and a beer early.

Awesome haircuts! I am so sad that I usually get my hair cut during the weekday on my lunch break, or I would totally partake in a beer while I wait for a haircut. The barbers are all very nice. I’ve had some bad experiences with barbershops not willing to cut women’s hair (even though I have a men’s haircut) but these guys treat me very well each time I come in. Cheap and fast. I highly recommend them!

Great cuts, fantastic layout especially the idea of having a social gathering area that serves beer and sodas right next door with a walk through. ONLY DRAW BACK - customers are turned away because they are only open during hours most people work. Then you get turned away at the times when you the customer are off work and available to have your hair cut. They do not take appointments so, Call first - to check the wait time ! Additionally the barbers are not very social, but you cant have everything!They say they have limited downtown reserved (marked) parking just north of the shop...

Cool place especially 4 spfld Illinois. Jeremy is awesome. Thnkdb4 the beard oil & telling me to wait a couple months on trimming my beard because I want it long. You could have just trimmed it but u honesty was refreshing.

Could be a lot better but other than being frequently busy, it also could be a lot worse! The only problem is that its hard to get a appointment here due to the hours and the high amount of customers.

Great shop with talented barbers. Went in the first time to fix a bad hack job at another shop. They fixed me right up, and the next time in, they remembered my last visit, why I came there in the first place, and how I got my hair cut.
