I have been going to South Point Counseling for over 5 years. They are the best! The office staff is helpful and kind. My therapist has changed my life and has taught me so much. I have had an excellent experience there. I couldnt recommend this place more!
Brandie has saved my life! She is the most helpful and amazing therapist I’ve ever seen! She explained everything in a manner that made sense to me, and she showed me great tools I can use on my own! She is fantastic and I would highly recommend her! And this clinic!
South point wants to charge me for my DEAD daughters balance because I want to take my suicidal granddaughter there. This is a place thats supposed to help people. I have dual insurance for my granddaughter and can pay for current services I want to contract with them. Im a single mom. I cant afford to pay my deceased daughters bills. I sure hope the counselors there are better than the administration.
I have known Roselene for quite some time, and she is a gifted counselor. She knows how to get you from where you are to where you want to be. She is incredibly empathetic and truly listens. When she does have something to say, it is because she has put in the work to listen and understand first. She is incredibly compassionate. She helped me reach goals, and together, we knocked off those goals one by one so that by the time I was done working with her, I had made transformative changes that have lasted. She valued me as a person. She reassured me, and I always felt better after my sessions with her. She is very knowledgeable and was able to teach me things I didnt know that helped me see myself, others, and my situation differently. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Alisha Mills has been amazing to work with. I really appreciate her kind and engaging approach, and she is amazing at making me feel safe and listened to. Shes so observant, yet patient, and you never feel like you are wasting her time, which is so different from other therapy experiences I have had. Additionally, the coping skills and CBT exercises she recommends for me are always thoughtful and effective, and she is open to changing her approach if something doesnt seem to stick. Could not recommend her enough! Additionally the staff at the front desk has always been very helpful and friendly, and any scheduling or payment issues have always been addressed quickly and professionally.
I want to say how grateful I am to Kim and South Point Counseling for helping and continuing to help me through a very tough journey the last few years. I am a more whole and healed person compared to when I first walked through the doors. I have gone through a lot of tragic loss and life situations and Kim has walked me through a really unique journey of healing and understanding of myself. This week I have been doing a little reflection of where I was and who I am today, and I just feel a lot of gratitude to have found someone who provided so much support, kindness, non judgment, gave me things to ponder and reflect on, challenged me, called me out sometimes, and showed up for me for every appointment. If you choose to go through counseling, I recommend it. It won’t fix all your problems but it will give you an understanding of who you are and who you’re not, it will improve your mental health and out look, and it is nice to have someone outside your normal day to day relationships teach you and hold your hand as you put pieces of a broken life back together and move forward. I give a high recommendation to South Point and Kim Newman.
I took my teens there for some counseling, that was supposed to be covered 100% by my EAP. Anything not covered by the EAP was supposed to be covered by their biological father and his insurance. They confirmed the all, and used my HSA card as a security They ended up charging me copays for each session and did not bill their dads insurance for sessions outside of the EAP. Their person answering phones in the billing department is rude, and very short in her manner of speaking to customers, stating that their CSO will research what happened and call me back. Based on her attitude alone I would not recommend this business! (Keep in mind I had to call them to discuss this even though when I had talked to reception a few weeks ago, their front desk assured me that theyd call me that day. That never happened)In discussing with my teens how their sessions went, they both stated that all they really did was hang out and colored some stuff We never got reports from the counselors nor did we see any progress nor improvements in the kids. This feels like a huge waste of time, and $ that we were overbilled for.Ill make sure to let my insurance company and benefits providers know to remove this company from their referral lists so that others dont get taken advantage of as this company did to us.
I want to begin by making clear this is not an opinion on the practices skills as a counseling organization. It is a review based on their business practices.I attempted to setup an appoint for my minor child. During the intake process they require paperwork to be filled out. I completely understand and wanted to comply. However, in reading their agreements they are clearly not written by an attorney. They require you sign a Subpoena Agreement that allows them to charge you for ... a third party subpoena any therapist who is part of South Point Counseling Services as a factual case witness or involve him/her in court-related processes, he/she will charge me a retainer fee of $1,000.00 and a charge of $200.00 every hour he/she is involved in case preparation, research, paperwork, phone calls, travel, witness time, etc. Please understand, I believe professionals should be paid for their time. In situations where they are called into court by you for your case I agree they should be paid for their time. But they should have consulted a professional when crafting this document. My frustration is that it leaves the client completely on the hook and puts no limitation that a charge may be applied if A) it is in reference to the service they provide to you or on your behalf and B) is requested by a third party that is hired by you. Meaning anyone could subpoena them for any reason and for any case and for any situation and they could charge you. I recognize its not likely, but that is what they are asking to be signed from a legal perspective. All I asked is that they put clarifying language in the agreement and they refused. Poor business practices should not be supported simply because someone in the office can put together a couple of paragraphs. To further this issue, no one with any capacity to speak to the document would call me back. They continued to have the Administrative Assistant for the back office reach out to me and shuttle comments/messages back and fourth. Very ineffective. Ill gladly take my child elsewhere.
My counselor quit and I was told I would be transferred to a new counselor. A week went by with no phone call so I called in to see when I could get an appointment with my new counselor. The lady that answered simply said well you dont have to transfer if you dont want to.... Umm... but my counselor no longer works for you so how am I to set up an appointment when I was not given any information or options on following to her new practice???? Thanks for dropping me when I needed help.
Wendy D. helped me get started and it was the easiest, most painless process because of her. Having never done therapy before, I had millions of questions and she answered all of them. Brooke J. is very warm and easy to talk to! Highly recommend her.
I have been attending therapy with Roselene at South Point Counseling for quite some time now and it has been life changing. I always leave my sessions feeling much better than when I came in. The staff is kind and well trained. I always get a notification reminder for my appointments and a phone call in case there are any changes. I have made a lot of progress with my mental health issues. I love it there!
My family has used Southpoint Counseling sevices. We are pleased with the services we have received. I have been seeing Roselene for 8 years. She is amazing and helped me. My other family members have seen Carol, Bill, Ally & Tracie. They also have been happy with the services that have been provided. Thank you!
Julian won’t be there for you when you need him most. He let’s his personal feelings interfere with your therapy sessions. Once his feeling have been hurt he will cancel all of your sessions and won’t return your calls. I won’t be referring anyone to him or his practice.
I have been going to South Point Counseling for a little over six months now. We have been able to find a therapist for me, my husband, and one of our daughters that are covered by our insurance and a small co-pay from us. This is the first time we have ever been able to find counseling services our health insurance would cover and it has made such a huge difference because we are able to go consistently and have more of a long-term view instead of feeling pressured by the expensive costs that usually accompany therapy. I have seen positive things from each of us and the individual therapists we see there. (Tracie, Brandee and Kari)I have been seeing Tracie Hoffman and would highly recommend her! I think counselors are like shoes. I have found several I have loved over the years. There are different things we need at different times, and she is definitely the right fit for me right now:) She is an amazing listener and very validating and empathetic. She shares my love for analogies and can see meaning in ordinary things that matter to me and takes time to talk about what those things symbolize to me and what I can learn and apply from them. She is a safe place for me to process difficult things and has helped me find peace with some difficult things I have experienced. Thank you Tracie and South Point Counseling Services for the strength and support you are to me and my family! 💕
I love Ally! She’s really good at listening and thinking of what to say to help. I admire her style and way of helping. She has helped me so much! As for the office, I’ve had issues with scheduling and the such, but got it resolved. Just know sometimes they aren’t always on top of things. Again, highly recommend Ally. She is great with kids, too.
Not a place for disabilities. People with autoimmune issues get sick a lot. They dont seem to care. Therapists are great! They are rude as they wanted charge me for same day cancellation. I was in the ER and after that was still expected to come. I did come as I dont have spare 50 dollars. On crutches with a paperwork from the ER. They dont care.
The first time I came here I met with a therapist that wasnt a good fit for my personality. She was very kind, but I didnt feel that her and I vibed too well. When I mentioned this to the receptionist for my follow up appointment, she immediately offered to get me in with a different therapist there who had an opening within the next few days. It seems like a small gesture, but at that point in my life I quite literally had to be dragged to therapy, so I am very grateful for that because I have been seeing Julian for a few years now and have made an impossible amount of progress. We all know therapy aint cheap, and finding a great therapist is like finding gold. When you find a good one, you find a way to make it work. You just do. My therapist has definitely made my experiences here beyond worthwhile, because his approach and perspectives are unlike any other I have had or heard of before, and they have created the pathway for me to accomplish what I thought was impossible. He has accommodated my schedule numerous times, and even though I have often been the last client he sees during his day I have never felt like the last client he sees during the day. He has always been direct and straight forward in his communication with me and has created a safe space where I feel I can do the same with him.South Point is a very nice establishment and everyone I have interacted with there has always been friendly and welcoming. 11/10 would recommend.
I really appreciate the time and concern Roselene took with me. She really does care about the people that come into her clinic and strives to see that they get the help they need.
The counselors there are good and I have enjoyed working with them, but the office staff is absolutely horrible. They have given me incorrect information several times that has messed up my appointments. Whenever I call no one answers the phone or calls me back. Also, I understand they have a cancellation policy, but my counselor canceled probably 4 times on the day of and I canceled once the day of and was still charged.
I adore Brandie Paterakis!! She is a phenomenal listener and was able to quickly assess my needs while patiently moving me in the right direction. She just gets me! She shows authenticity that she is a genuine and real person. I tried two other therapists for a few months at a time and had given up on therapy for about a year before meeting Brandie because I worried I would waste my time and money on therapy that was not going to actually help even though I knew I could benefit from therapy. The other therapists I went to either heard one thing I said and then would go on this big long shpill of lengthy concept and sharing what they wanted to share-and maybe that works for some people. Another therapist I went to would just sit there and let me talk, and give me these assignments to do at home that I didn’t feel helped me at all. Bottom line- other therapists I saw through other organizations didn’t know what I needed and did not listen to really try to understand... Brandie connects- with people and she connects the dots. She listens not just to listen, but to understand because she really cares and can relate to being human and figuring out life. She is awesome and I appreciate her as a mediator in my life and I feel like she is a friend. I feel comfortable in our therapy sessions and I really, really appreciate who she is and the work she has done with me so far. Thank you, Brandie!
I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. The counselling sessions with Alicia have completely changed me for the better. She actually listens to me without judgment and it feels like I am talking to a friend. The workers are amazing and the place is always clean and homey!
Honestly, I left my appointment feeling worse than to begin with. Ive never been to therapy before and thought it would help with anxiety. I showed up and was told my bill would be over $130, which I was earlier told that my insurance would cover everything minus my co-pay. That started a 20 minute phone investigation with my insurance to confirm they gave me the wrong information and my insurance did in fact cover most of it.I was then 10 minutes late to my appointment. The intake was scheduled for 90 minutes, however I was only in the office for 40 minutes before my therapists next appointment showed up and I had to leave.I also dont think this is normal, but I said probably less than 50 words during my entire appointment and the therapist lectured me the majority of the time about how I need to stop striving for perfection, and made wrongful assumptions. The therapist was nice, I just feel like that was a waste of time. +I was going to go to a second appointment to give it another chance, but then I got a text notification that my appointment was scheduled for the NEXT DAY instead of the next week. This started a panic attack because the office was closed so I couldnt reschedule, and I was freaking out thinking theyd charge me the cancellation fee because I had to cancel the next day which was less than 24 hours notice. Thankfully they understood and cancelled it, but I couldnt follow through with anymore appointments after all of these hassles.
We started seeing Julian after a traumatic life event and have been consistent clients for over two years. He has helped my family and children through some difficult life transitions. Each one of us has had different needs and desires with therapy. He has been able to help facilitate change and help our family grow. He has helped each of us have the desire and knowledge to put in the hard work necessary to facility life change. I highly recommend Southpoint and their services.
Ive been coming here for about 2.5 years. The growth I have seen both within myself and my relationships are invaluable!! Julian has truly changed my life, my mindset and he continues to help me be the best I can be. I truly dont know where I would be if it were not for Julian and South Point Counseling.
I have interacted for many years with the staff and clinicians of South Point Counseling. The members of the administrative and billing staff are highly attentive and the members of their clinical staff are very qualified and talented. They strive to provide high quality services to all clients. I highly recommend their services.
HUGE lack of communication. If you make an appointment with them and have to cancel for any unforeseen circumstances you can expect a charge to your credit card. This is the card that you give them when you set your first appointment. However if they cancel on you.. your time means NOTHING to them, nor does having your future business. Here is a play-by-play conversation that happened with this office:Week of 05/10/2020: We have an appointment scheduled for 05/12/2020. On the afternoon of 05/12/2020 we experience an internet outage and are unable to connect to a video appointment with the counselor. I called the office in an attempt to reschedule and they suggested we move our 4:00pm appointment to a 6:00pm time slot for that same day. I am told that If I miss the appointment I will be charged $50.00. The receptionist was VERY blunt that this is policy and nothing could be done. My hands were tied.. due to lack of internet, we could not make the appointment. The receptionist reschedules our appointment for 05/19/2020.05/19/2020: We receive a text message that states: Mindys internet is down, she is working with Comcast to get it back up again but there is not a firm estimated time of it being resolved. She will be reaching out to you individually as she is able to reschedule your appointment either for later this week or next week as needed. Thank you for your understanding.Understanding? alright, this should go both ways right?05/19/2020: My reply to the text thread: Thanks for the heads up... if it ends up getting cancelled does that me our cancellation fee gets refunded from last week?05/19/2020: Reply from reception: we can askTo this date, I have received ZERO follow up from anyone at South Point Counseling Services for the refund or scheduling a different appointment. I will be making sure my EAP provider representative and my insurance representative will receive a copy of this review.
My experience with South Point Counseling has been very positive. My teenage son has been going through extremely difficult times and his therapist Julian Dalanhese, has been absolutely amazing with him. My son was against therapy and it was a nightmare to even get him in there. Once he met with Julian, all of that changed. I have spent countless hours with different therapists over the years and Julian has, by far, been the best. He found a way to figure out what my child needs and is able to reach him and get him to open up and start communicating about what is going on in his life. Something no one has been able to do. My son respects and admires Julian and knows he is there to help him. Julian has created an atmosphere where my son feels safe enough to open up and that is not an easy task. Julian has been the calm in my sons storm. I am so grateful we found him. He has tried so hard to find a way to help my son. He doesnt just give up. If something isnt working, he tries something else. If I ever have questions or things come up with my son that Im worried about and I cant wait until his next session, Julian is great to get right back to me. He is always professional, understanding and genuinely cares. I cant say enough great things about him. He has helped my difficult teen tremendously. If I could rate 10 stars I would!
I really like this counseling service. They have an extremely friendly and helpful staff. My personal counselor is Rosalene. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient and understanding, and she helped me a great deal. I will definitely refer family and friends to them. First rate operation.
Terrible place. They only want your money. So if you have a court order they “WILL MAKE YOU take classes no matter what you did. Forcing you to have sessions and pay out of pocket. They are also not good with time management, we had to have information submitted to court and it has not been submitted forcing us to contact our attorney to see if we can get a continuance. I would not recommend this company.
I did the Emotional Eater Program and I realized that diets do not work and is all about listening to your body instead. The instructor was very knowledgeable, patient, and skillful. I am taking the course for the 2nd time to be able to internalize my new life style.
I have had nothing but the best of experience with Kirstine and Sarah C. Top notch Assessment and counseling services. Would absolutely recommend to anyone seeking self help or court appointed care.
Unfortunately, I came to a point in life that I felt like I needed counseling. I booked an appointment because my insurance was accepted. I’m in my mid-thirties. It was hard to even visit a counselor. Truthfully, I probably should have sought out counseling sooner in life. However, my experience here was so hurtful and even traumatizing. I never thought a counseling session could cause damage and turn out to be so bad. I am angry with what happened.I know from experience with other professionals that counseling can be very helpful!!!I formally complained to management about my experience. However, I was disappointed to find out that it is a family business. The mother manages and owns the facility, and the son is the top most recommended counselor. As an adult and as a professional, I strongly encourage to avoid this establishment.
I dont usually take the time to review places I have visited, but I wanted to share what a positive experience Ive had here. My teen daughter and I have both been meeting separately with Dr. Tracie Hoffman for a few months now. She is a fantastic therapist! Ive been in counseling with other therapists in the past, some better than others, but Tracie has helped me the most. She genuinely cares about us and this is felt by her warm, nonjudgemental stance. Shes helped me to recognize my own negative thought patterns and she helps me to combat them. She is the perfect fit for my daughter who struggles with major social anxiety, and depression. With her fun, quirky, engaging personality she has been teaching her social skills, and how to make and keep friends. My daughter was very resistant to the idea of going to therapy initially and now she asks me when her next appointment is. She looks forward to mtg with Tracie every week. Tracies genuine warmth combined with her expert clinical skills and ability to relate to and connect with us has made her the best therapist. Im relieved that my daughters first introduction to therapy has been a positive one. Tracie works with me to know how to help and support my daughter without betraying her confidence about the personal things that she shares with her during sessions. The front receptionist Shannon has always been friendly and easy to work with on scheduling. Ive never had a problem canceling or rescheduling appts as long as I do it ahead of time. Its nice to see a friendly face when I come in.Haley in billing has been quick to respond to my phone calls and shes been able to work with my insurance so that Im not overcharged.Overall, Ive had a very positive experience here and we plan on continuing our treatment here for some time since it has proved beneficial to us.
The staff and therapist I worked with were very friendly and professional. They’re willing to make schedule adjustments within reason. The billing department was very easy to work with.
After having anxiety for years I decided to seek counseling. Roselene has helped me overcome so much. Last Spring after having a baby I decided to participate in her emotional eating class. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. In 7 months I have lost 60 pounds. My relationship with food has become positive. I no longer fear food or binge eat. At first I didn’t think I was an emotional eater but after her class I realized how my cognitive beliefs were holding me back. If you are ready to stop dieting and start enjoying food take the plunge and sign up for her class.
I have loved coming here. Kirstine is an amazing, experienced therapist who helps me so much. The staff is all very kind and respectful.
Update: I am increasing the star count because they worked with me on this issue and have allowed me to not pay the full amount as they had made a mistake. I still can only justify 3 stars until they show progress in fixing their process. They told me situations like this happen all the time which in my opinion means they have something wrong with their process. Their CFO said they will work to improve the process and hopefully that will happen. I think the therapist I am working with is great but after this issue I dont know if I will be able to afford to go back. They told me my fee for each session would only be $25. I clarified with them 3 times if that was right and they told me that it was. Now a couple months later they come back and say that I now owe them over $800. It is now my fault that they told me the wrong information and now I am out $800. They said they called my insurance and my insurance said they never called in the beginning to clarify if that was correct even though I asked them if that was correct.
Ive been going to the same therapist since my sophomore year of high school. I am now going into my first year of college. My experience with this place has been nothing but helpful. My therapist has helped me way more than others in the past.
I would not recommend this place at all. Rick the owner is incredibly rude and inconsiderate to what people are going through. They made a HUGE mistake when it came to billing and although he took ownership that it was their mistake, he REFUSED to do anything about correcting the mistake and making things right. Save yourself the hassle and go some where else for your behavioral needs. A place that actually cares. Not to mention, the therapist I saw, her cell phone kept going off and that was her biggest concern, I feel as if it was the biggest waste of time and money.
Wonderful place that has taught to reach deep into myself and overcome. Love Rosalene and she lives what she teaches. Absolutely the best hands down!
Was not able to take my daughter in one day because of a family emergency where we had to go to hospital. They ended up charging us $50 no show fee. Even after explaining that there was no way we could show up they would not remove the charges. Not very understanding and seemed like they did not want to even listen.
Great place and staff.
I highly recommend South Point Counseling! Roselene Dalanhese has helped my children and myself tremendously during very difficult times. The family therapy and individual therapy with each of us has made a positive impact that we didn’t think was even possible.South Point also has group therapy for emotional eaters and it has helped me in more ways than I expected, if you keep up with what you learn, you’ll have amazing results!I also highly recommend Julian Dalanhese because he has gone above and beyond to help save the life of my loved one that I hold very dear to me. Julian has opened more time to help accommodate the need for more weekly sessions of therapy that my loved one has needed. With my experiences with other counselors/therapists/mental health specialists, I can’t say that they have gone above and beyond as South Point Counseling has.
I have been so impressed with the care they show each of their patients. I’ve personally seen Rosalene and loved having her help me get through some very difficult times. I will continue to refer my family and friends to their office.
I have been seen Roselene Dalanhese since 2012, after meeting with many different counselors, she was the one that really helped me form my darkest point. Today I go once in a while for a tune-up. She has helped me change my life. My relationships and my personal life has changed so much thanks to her guiding me and helping me gain control of my life and re-discover myself. The staff and the other therapist I believe are as good as she is otherwise she would not take them under the clinic. Dont base your opinion in other go and see for yourself. They really care for their patients and are personable.
This place has no follow up, theyll let ya in, take your money, bill your insurance, then ghost ya.
I’ve been going to this place for years and i find that every body there is extremely nice and helpful the two therapists i’ve seen (roselene dalanhese, and just recently julian dalanhese) also helped me through a ton of issues i’ve been dealing with and have been extremely caring over the years and i highly recommend coming to this group of therapists
If I could give LESS than 1 Star I would. My daughter had an appointment and I called and left a message the monday BEFORE her appointment but because they “couldn’t find my message “ they are still MAKING ME PAY THE NO SHOW FEE!!!!!I call that EXTREMELY poor service. I work for a doctor office and if something happened where we didn’t get the message, we’d figure something out.
Please avoid using their services!! We were told to cancel 24 hours in advance if we ever needed to because we would be charged a no show fee! Our counselor told us they are “nazi’s” about this policy and to make sure it was time stamped 24 hours so we canceled 26 hours in advance because our babysitter wasn’t able to watch our kids. Yet they still charged us. I called the office manager who by the way is the RUDEST person I have ever dealt with and told me they don’t make the policy sorry . We have had to cancel before and weren’t charged and this time we were. We love our counselor so this is very disappointing that we will have to be finding a new one. The office manager is very unprofessional and shouldn’t be aloud to work with the public!! Please avoid using southpoint counseling they don’t even deserve 1 star!!! For this office it’s all about the $$$$ signs and nothing more!!!!
We waited a month and a half for a marriage counseling appointment. The counselor seemed great but only had the time to get some background information on the first visit. After paying for the visit we were told that she wasnt available to take new clients. We asked for a refund or next visit free with a different counselor but wasnt given any consideration. Whats up with that? They made us wait, wasted our time, took our money, and gave no service.
Their customer service and professionality is absolutletly terrible. I arrived the 20 minutes early to my appt as requested by the woman over the phone who helped me schedule my appt. when I scheduled the appt I asked specifically if they had a prescribing psychiatrist who took my insurance. The woman on the phone said “yes” and scheduled me. I arrived the 20 minutes early to my appt and there was a line of people waiting to be checked in but no one at the front desk. They had all been waiting 30+ minutes to be checked in. When s receptionist finally came she turned them all away for the day and made them reschedule when it was Southpoi yes fault for not having someone at the desk and checking clients in... when it came my turn to check in, I was confirming details of my appt and then the receptionist goes “oh we don’t have a prescribing psychiatrist here” then why tell me you have one when I called to schedule? The receptionists excuse? “I’m new, I didn’t know.” If you’re a new employee, learn your favs and the company you work for. I’m etremely infuriated and upset with Southpointe. I would NEVER recvomend this place to anyone. Terrible customer service. I was seeking help for my anxiety and they caused a panic attack for me that day lasting hours and hours.
Julian is very professional, and has a unique approach which has helped me with a lot of things. He helps make goals come true and keeps it 100
I arrived 30 minutes early and waited 30 minutes into my appointment before I left. No one was there to tell I was waiting. We had received a confirmation the day before. It was ironic that all the paperwork said they would charge $50 if I missed an appointment, but nothing is being done to get my time or money back I spent to be there for them to stand me up.
I have been taking my kids there for a few years now. My kids therapist is Rosalene. We have tried several others therapists but Rosalene was the perfect match for both of my kids. She always find time to talk to me to give me an update on my kids and I appreciate that. The receptionists are so friedly and professional. They are the best! That is why they are so busy and schedule so far out. I have set apointmets so I dont have to deal with that issue.
The best counseling center ever!
They treat like a person and not just another number
Great
