With all the current covid restrictions, LDS Travel, offered me a great trip with a affordable price, my only negative opinion is when calling any of the staff to answer questions, you have to call them hundreds of times and wait forever for a response, so with that in mind...from flights, hotel arrangements, our Costa Cruise to Greece, and personal guides, to the Amazing Karen St Pope, who without a doubt answered every and any question, every morning was prompt with our personal tours was absolutely fantastic, there wasnt much personal time, they do their best to keep you busy...and lots of walking!
We had a wonderful experience considering we traveled to Italy and Greece during the pandemic. Our Latter Day Travel tour guides we’re FANTASTIC! Ludovika and Jonathan were wonderful, patient, helpful and informative in so many ways. If they didn’t have the answer they would find out. The only drawback was the cruise with Costa Cruise line. It was lacking in many ways. They were overly restrictive in their excursions which led to some very unpleasant and awkward situations. Everyone in our group commented on it. Hopefully Latter Day tours can arrange for the cruise portion of the trip with different cruise lines in the future. Other than that, the time we spent with Latter DayTours in Italy was absolutely perfect!
The tour was great, the communication with Latter Day Travel, was sporadic. Recognizing the difficulties associated with traveling during COVID, we felt more responsive with questions and concerns would have made the experience better. The tour guides were super and extremely helpful. Couldn’t have asked for better.
This is a difficult review to write because our tour guides were SO good but the communication with Latter Day Travel was very poor. Jonathan, Ludo and our city guides did a terrific job giving us a taste of Italy. Wondering whether our trip would even happen was a BIG worry. We could not get Latter Day Travel to answer even the urgent emails or phone messages we left. BUT the Rome Temple did not disappoint!
Tour guides were wonderful and very patient. Helped in any way possible. Always smiled and answered all our questions. There could have been way more communication from Latter Day Travel getting back to us faster with answers before our trip. Enjoyed the vacation very much. Would never have gone on our own. Thank you.
Karen our travel guide was wonderful. I didn’t give it 5 stars because communication was terrible with Latter Day Travel. I would suggest using Fun For Less tours, also out of Utah.
It was so wonderful and fantastic experience. Not so much the communication with our agents in Salt Lake City. They did not answered us in a timely matter. We had to make several calls to get an answer. But as soon we got in contact with our tour guy (Karen) it was wonderful. She really took care of us and I am greatful for her kidness and knowledge.
Latter Day Travel was amazing. They did a great job answering any questions I had. If there was an issue with flights they were able to be fixed quickly. Brad McCoy and Mark Ogletree and their spouses went above and beyond to make sure this Church History tour went smoothly. Great knowledge and learning happened during this trip. I will never forget all the laughs and fun that went on. The tour bus group they use, Arrow, is amazing as well, very thoughtful and safe people.I will always treasure this trip with my grandparents!Thank you Latter Day Travel!
Josue, our Travel Agent was very helpful and answered all our questions regarding the trip we booked.
Rand has been so helpful and informative. I suggest you ask for him when booking your trip.
Very poor planning of flights. We had a group of 8 and they put 7 of us one flight and 1 person alone on a completely different flight. They put us on flights that didnt get to the destination until midnight for a tour that started the next morning at 7 am.... If this is the best they can do, dont let them book your flights! Hopefully the tour will be better.
We went on a 2 week trip to Italy and Greece in June 2019 with Latter Day Travel. Other than having to fly in and out of Los Angeles from Utah, the trip was excellent! We had fantastic tour guides and had a wonderful time with our LDS tour group, which was two bus loads of people. Beautiful and historic tours that were so interesting and fun. We would definitely book with them again and have highly recommended this trip to others. Got to see Venice, Pisa, Florence, Rome, Bari, and four cruise stops in Greece. Cant wait to go back!!
Josue was excellent to work with. He is very patient, knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. I am very pleased with him and the service he provided so far. He answered every question and even asked for more if we had them. I am glad he is our rep.
My father and mother in law booked a trip through this company for July back in January. They were forced to cancel due to high risk cancer. Upon contacting them for rescheduling or cancellation options, they were difficult to work with and ultimately would not answer phone calls or return calls, despite a digital receptionist that claims to return phone calls within 48 hours. The diagnosis came as a shock to the family (who was excited for the trip) and Latter Day Travel showed no empathy towards our family and refused even a partial refund of a $6000 bill. I strongly discourage people from using this company for any trips or bookings.
We vacationed in October 2019. We had an awesome trip. I booked over a year ago, in September 2018. It was great being able to make payments along the way as money permitted. The office staff helped with original booking, payments and even when I had a hard time printing my boarding passes, I called and Chantia helped me right away! I love having others take care of the hard stuff and then I just get to enjoy!Someone met us as the airport once we arrived in Italy and then we just hung on and enjoyed the ride.My only complaint would be trying to round everyone up and get on the road. There was a bit of waiting occasionally, but I imagine that is to be expected with a large group. Our traveling companions we met on the buses and boat were wonderful people. The food was great. The hotels we stayed in were clean and breakfast and most dinners were included. Our final day was spent at the Rome temple! Amazing place! Awesome trip! We were exhausted when we got home. I love having to rest from our vacation.
Buyer beware! In April of this year (2021), we booked The Ultimate Holy Land +Egypt+Athens Cruise and Tour scheduled for late November early December of this year (2021). On the 6th of August, the tour was cancelled and we were offered the opportunity to rebook for a different tour or to get a refund. We elected to get a refund and told it would take 7 to 10 days for us to get a check. After 10 days of not getting a check, I followed up with an email and got a response on the 18th of August in which I was told the check had been sent the previous Tuesday (8/10) and should expect it by the end of week or early the following week. Here it is the 30th of August and still no check. Ive tried multiple times via phone and email to get a response. I did get one call back that I missed and a VM was left. Since then in spite of their promise to get back within 48 hours, no one has gotten back with me. They owe us approximately an $8K refund which is not pocket change for me and fear that we may be out this amount. No one should have to go through this and I hope this review will help others avoid them. All I can say is buyer beware! One more bit of helpful information - they function under several different names. What follows are those that I am aware of: Latter Day Travel, Cruisebuilder, and Vacationbuilder. I would avoid any of these three!
The tour and tour guides were great. But customer service with Latter-day Travel was not very informative or helpful in answering questions or returning phone calls
Josue Avila has been so helpful and patient with me and all of the questions I have. He really does a great job at explaining. I am really excited for my trip!
I truly had an amazing trip through Italy with Layter Day Travel. Our guides were friendly, humorous and very knowledgeable. This was mt first solo trip since my husband passed away and I would go again without hesitation.
We enjoyed everything about the trip. The purpose of our trip was to visit the Rome Temple and it definitely met or expectations. Our guide, Federico was great and made it even more meaningful.
Actually, I was disappointed with our guide in Rome. She misrepresented where she wanted us to have lunch....saying it was very close by with no steps. I was unable to keep up with her pace and I understand that the lunch location did have several steps. As a result, there were about 10 of us that got separated from the group. I felt she may have had some arrangement with the lunch location. She also did not seem to comprehend that we needed to arrive at the temple in time for our appointment. It limited our time at the visitors center. The LDS representative on the ship was pretty much impossible to find after the initial meeting.
Latter day travel canceled a trip my mom booked through them and has had a very difficult time getting any type of a refund! Better off booking direct with the cruise lines, especially in this climate
My wife and I thouroughly enjoyed our trip to Italy and Mediterranean Cruise visiting the major port cities and islands along the way! Federico and his team were excellent tour guides and did an exceptional job planning and putting together a wonderful experience for us all.
We went on the church history tour. Brian the tour guide had not made arrangements with some of the church sites and so we could not go in. Other sites he talked the missionaries into changing the tour and not giving us the whole tour so it would be quicker and when he would mess up and people complained he would just say “love ya”. Very disappointed in the tour.
Josue was so helpful! He answered all our questions and helped us to choose the tour we wanted. Thank you!!!
The trip was great once we landed but the pre trip communication was awful.
Our tour guide was absolutely wonderful -- knowledgeable, friendly, funny, patient, helpful -- simply wonderful. He made the trip the best it could have been for us!
My husband and I had an excellent time with CruiseBuilder. Their group leaders were incredible and took very good care of us. Our whole trip went seamlessly thanks to them! We went to Rome mid-January and it was perfect! We were able to see and tour inside all of the locations we visited and it wasn’t too packed with people. Would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an amazing trip!
The tour guides were exceptional and very kind.
Had a wonderful time. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars was because of the communication, it was very poor. I heard things first from the people in our group. Some of the excursions were cancelled but it was due to circumstances beyond the cruise ships control. I really enjoyed our guides in Rome, both coming and going and the hotel we were put at was great, they were quick to check us in. The food on the ship was amazing, some of it different than what we were used to but fun to try.We definitely had a great experience, thank you!
What an amazing trip. Our guide Jonathan was incredible from the moment he met us at the airport in Rome the first day. Loved every minute and cant wait to plan our next adventure. Would recommend this trip to anyone.
We had the most amazing trip on the Costa Deliziosa. We were introduced to European dining, customs and people which we really enjoyed. Our host on the ship was able to speak many languages and jumped back and forth between them quickly and fluently. We had never been to Greece and the surrounding areas and experienced the culture and sights and food up close. We had fun tour guides on our excursions who were personable. Our experience with those at the office was also very positive. Two hours before we departed we discovered a problem in our flights. We called Chantia directly and within that time frame she had four of us on a plane. Amazing customer service!
Was the trip of a lifetime! We were able to see much of Italy and enjoyed every minute of it! Thanks for an amazing experience.
Great people and amazinger service. The trip we went on was filled with amazing tour guides and helpful people. It was all care free, planned for us, and a wonderful experience. My wife and I plan to book another trip very soon.
I just returned from Rome with Cruisebuilder. It was a fantastic experience. We received great support from LDS tours before we left and our tour leader, Jonathon, in Rome was excellent. The ship is amazing and the customer service outstanding. The only complaint was the weather and that was beyond anyone’s control.
Communication with the company was quite a struggle throughout the booking process. The cruise company was nothing what our group was expecting, which was disappointing. However, the tour leaders in Rome were absolutely amazing and very helpful and the tour directors, also in Rome were very knowledgeable!
I had the most wonderful time exploring Greece and Italy with the most amazing/lovely tour guide Denise! Thank you for such a perfect vacation!!
A great combo experience of touring, cruising and airfare with a bag and seat assignment included with the airfare! Kudos
Poor value, ports changed, too crowded, impatient guides
They did a great job organizing tours and accommodations. I enjoyed my cruise experience.
Lovely Italian tour of Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Rome after our 7 day Mediterranean cruise with Costa. CruiseBuilder booked 5 star hotels, ordered delicious dinners, arranged an amazing tour of the Vatican and got us tickets inside of the Colosseum. The Rome Temple was stunning. Our tour guide Denise was fantastic! Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, polite, Denise and our awesome and skilled driver Dennis helped make our 20th anniversary trip unforgettable. Thank you to everyone at CruiseBuilder.
I would give zero stars if I could. Every part of our trip with cruise builder was terrible. The sites were awesome, but the group was terrible.
What a wonderful opportunity to see such history and go to the temple in Rome. We have been so enriched! Although they weren’t willing to help us at all when our flight was delayed.
Our cruise was amazing! Definitely would recommend to friends and family!
Poorly conducted TOUR and a most sub par cruise line. TOUR DATES 2/10-23/19 on bus C4.Comments on the tour1 Guides knew nothing about the sights visited. One of them had never been to the Vatican before. They were nice, but not tour guides2 Bus driver was very sick and coughed and sneezed all three days we were with him. Many of us got the same illness.3. We were not warned of the $240 charges for luggage. The flight was supposedly free, but not really.4. We were not warned of the long walks that we must take.5. We had to handle our own 50 pound bags at the hotels. Some hotels had stairs to lift the bags up. My past tours included delivering bags to rooms at all hotels.6 Met us at hotel not airport, other tours met us at airport and helped us with our bags and guided us to hotels.7. Tour guide in Rome on last day was good but not considerate. She left a lady on crutches standing in front of Colesium. She had no cash for a taxi to the hotel and was really upset. We gave her the money in cash to get her there and put her in the taxi. A little courtesy would have helped.8. A bagged breakfast is not a cracker and a bottle of water. Very poor quality.9. I saw Brian twice during the whole tour, why was he even there. He was of no help.Other tours had an escort couple with us at all times, to help in any way.10. Overall, you did a poor job, and I will never use you company ever again. Look at Fun for Less for the real way to arrange and conduct a tour. Most of the other people in your tour were bitterly disappointed in your performance.11 The Rome Temple was spectacular but were1&1/2 hours late getting there, which reduced our time there.Comments on Costa cruise line1 Very bad food in restaurants. The only really good meal we had, when we paid 30 euros per person for it.2 No food available between 4 and 7 pm every day. We have been on seven cruises and the was the worst food we have ever had. Very disappointed.3 Crew unfriendly and not very helpful.4 Room was nice and clean with a good bed.5. All items cost extra, popcorn, ice cream.6 I was sick and the would not refund my excursion fee, for the day.7 Very loud at night until 2-3 am in the morning8. Very limited choice of food, same food everyday.BOTTOM LINENEVER USE COSTA CRUISE LINE AGAIN OR THE PARENT COMPANY, CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE!!!!!!
Took a fantastic trip where we toured Italy, including the new LDS Rome temple, and then cruised to Savona, Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca & Palermo. It was a big group and it was tough to keep everything organized for that many people, but we managed to see a ton of things in a relatively short amount of time and we all had a great time. There were some hiccups along the way, due to external circumstances, weather, tour members being late, etc., but they were good about addressing problems and adapting along the way. Very good customer service and great value for a once in a lifetime trip. Thanks!
Would give them 0 stars if possible.Did an Italy tour with their company..Brian and Shane were the operators/guides. Too many problems to list, but here are a few:1. Accommodations were okay, but locations were terrible. In Naples we were in a remote part of the metro area and opposite end of town from Pompeii & Sorrento. In Rome, we were an hour outside of downtown. The hotel in Florence was closer, but in a residential suburban neighborhood. There was never the chance to just walk outside the hotel and see anything interesting nearby.2. They screwed up the tickets to the Last Supper viewing in Milan. After trying to convince us that another museum would be better anyway, the tour group pushed back. They ended up changing the itinerary to make it work, but we had to wake up super early one day (like 4 am) to get there and back. Totally inefficient use of time...so much riding in the bus.3. So much riding in the bus...basically had 4-5 meals at highway rest stops. Not what I envision when I am going to eat meals in Italy.4. Extremely limited restaurants in the areas where the hotels were located.5. No apologies at all for their screw-ups, they did not take any responsibility when questioned by the tour members, about 25 people.6. We were there on Easter Sunday...going to Rome...itinerary was: (woke up in Naples hotel) went to church where Shane had served during his mission. Drive to Rome, lunch at a rest stop, arrive hotel in outskirts around 4 pm. Dinner was a pre-arranged lame meal at the hotel. What the what? HCBW and I were so fed up at this point we found our own way into the city that evening and had a nice dinner al fresco at local restaurant in a nice little piazza in downtown Rome. Why in the world could they not have arranged such a thing?7. Overall very poorly run..dont waste your $ with them.
We returned from a Rome, Italy Temple Open House trip on Feb 10th and it was the most disappointing tour we’ve ever taken. There were too many problems to list here but I’ll just say we’d never take another trip with them again. CruiseBuilder was a part of the company and they were equally bad. We had high hopes but... live and learn. The Temple was beautiful but wish we’d planned on own trip to see it or used a better company.
I feel that it is my obligation to let people know NOT to book with this company! Use another company or do it by yourself. I booked a trip to Rome for my wife and I months in advance. We were promised tickets to go into the Colloseum, St Peters, and time in Pisa, Florence and Rome. To start out, our flights were a mess...they had me going into LA at 6am with a 9 hour layover before flying to Rome. LONG DAY to start out a trip. I ate the cost of the flight and booked my own flight to LA with a 3 hour layover. I then found out that some people actually were offered a direct flight from SLC! Whatever. Then when we got to Rome the whole itinerary got changed. We waited close to an hour at the airport for the tour bus. They said there had been some Confusion! 12 hour plane ride followed by confusion! Our day at the LDS Temple all of a sudden got changed to the end of the trip(we didn’t know this till we got on the road to Florence). Then a trip to a marble quarry got elongated to an absolutely miserable FULL DAY! We had to wait in the dust and dirt for over an hour for a Jeep tour to the top of the quarry. The quarry was actually pretty cool but it took all day when an hour or so was more than plenty. The ‘included’ lunch was aweful, especially considering they fed us a sack breakfast at 4 am then no lunch till 2:30. This day also included a 5 hour bus ride to the quarry at 4:30 am the morning following the all night flight over the ocean. My opinion is the quarry is a nice tour if you saw it in 1-2 hours and not with a bus load. I came to see Italy...not to wait and wait and wait for a terribly organized tour of a marble quarry. Because of the mismanagement of time we had no time for Pisa. Their solution to this was a 1 1/2 hour walk around Pisa the next morning at 7:30! Pisa doesn’t even get started till 9:30-10! We saw Pisa but nothing was open! Then a quick trip to Florence and back to Rome for a 2 hour window to walk to the Colliseum. No tickets to go inside so just walk by it. 2 hours at the Vatican and off to the cruise. Very little that was promised was delivered. Then off the cruise we got dropped off at a mall for 3 hours and then to the Temple for 3 hours. Flight home and done! Most people flew straight from Rome to LA but we were lucky enough to get booked on a flight through Chicago with a 6 hour layover and then to LA too late for a flight to Utah. So I had to shell out another $150 for a hotel at LAX and then home the following day.My wife and I had a GREAT time INSPITE of CruiseBuilders. They were very poor to say the least! The poor guides in Italy were uninformed and just left to try to keep us all happy through all the mess ups! Everyone on our bus that I talked to felt the exact same about the trip and we all promised to write a review to warn people but I am sure most of them will get home and get busy and never write it. That’s what CruiseBuilders hopes happens after each trip.I have done my duty to warn you to book through another company. BEWARE!!Dorne Hall
JustLDS/Cruisebuilder (not sure why the two names- they are the same place) provided very poor customer service, poor communication, and NO tour guiding! We traveled May 9-22, 2019 in and out of LA. In making final checks (which the tour company should have done) on flights, I realized our final tour-arranged leg had been bumped 2 hours. This made our connecting flight to SEA impossible and meant having to stay over in a hotel and buying new tickets. When I contacted JustLDS, they mumbled and clicked and said “the airlines didn’t notify us either”. They said they’d get back to me, and didn’t, and wouldn’t even pick up calls the next day. I knew then this was a terrible tour company that would leave me out to dry at any time. I spent many hours on the phone over the next week with the airlines to try and work it out. We were part of a group of about 200 and heard many similar stories from fellow JustLDS travelers. Their flights left early, late, lost luggage, ridiculous and varied airlines and connections, all due to poor planning on the part of JustLDS. We arrived in Milan airport with no idea who or how we’d be met, and didn’t see anyone until after we’d collected our luggage and were headed for the outside. We were dropped off for the cruise portion of the trip and boarded a ship with NO tour company representation. With 200 clients, you’d think they might want to be there - nope. It really became an issue when the captain announced we’d be docking 2 hours late, and we weren’t even sure what we were supposed to do for ‘on time’. Before dumping us off, JustLDS had only provided vague directions to catch a water taxi to the airport and the buses would meet us there. We weren’t even flying again, so where would they meet us?! Terrible communication, or none. We comprised 4 tour buses and I believe there was ONE actual tour guide for the whole caravan. She mostly tried to organize the 2/bus assistants, who were very nice young adults, but were NOT tour guides. They did not pretend to be, and did their job of counting heads in and out of the bus very well. But I paid for a TOUR of Italy, and expected some information along the way, and definitely at tourist sites! What’s more, JustLDS advertised tickets to various places, and did not provide promised tickets to the Academie (the David) or the Colliseum. I could go on but this is too long already. Please find another company to take you on vacation. JustLDS does not look out for you or provide basic tour services.
We called initially concerning a trip to Israel and Rome. The person responding to our first call answered all our questions and took the time needed for us to have a good understanding. We called a few months later to book a trip. Rand responded quickly and kindly. He also answered our questions and was very happy for us to call again if we had any questions. We ended up having other family members join us and Rand was very helpful in getting us all taken care of. Thank you Latter-Day Travel and Rand for helping us achieve something on our bucket list.
