Asked if they could repair a waterpump on my Lincoln and they said yes and gave me an estimate. Brought my car to them and they informed me they wanted to check it out and see what was wrong, no problem. 3 days go by and I had to physically go up there to see what the issue was, and of course it was the waterpump, go figure. Said they couldnt fix it and charged me $129 diagnostic fee. When it was time to leave my car wouldnt even start! They acted like they had no idea what was wrong and said my battery must be bad.... it wasnt my battery it was the mechanics that were bad. Shady people and shady business owners

Ive been going to Ewing Automotive on and off since before 2009 - both locations. Recently, my transmission leaked all over the road and I had my truck towed to Ewing - I wanted a company I could trust. Well, trust is in the eyes of the beholder as Ewing truly let me down in regards to providing the type of quality service I have come to rely on. After a couple of days, Ewing informed me that I needed a new transmission at a cost of $4,300 plus tax. Based on a six percent tax rate, the overall cost of replacing my transmission would have been $4,558. Disappointed in the news, I towed my truck back home and started to clean it out to sell. I had recently installed a new front-end suspension system along with four new tires. Most heartbreaking part, I have over 350K loving miles on my truck as I purchased it with 4K mile back in 2002. It is a 2002 Dodge Durango SLT Plus. The internet is a marvelous tool as it allowed me to research causes of a transmission going bad. The truck would start (after I charged it due to it being run down) and the gears would move but not engage. I tapped the transmission tray and it had a hollow sound meaning it was empty. After removing the pan, I noticed there was no supporting gasket to keep the fluid from leaking out. I purchased a transmission gasket and filter kit from Advanced Auto (using 25% coupon) as well as a small tube of permanex. I cleaned the tray, replaced both gaskets and reinstalled the pan which did not have any metal other the miniscule particles on the magnet. Bottom-line: I spent less than $125.00 on all the parts I needed including the ATF-4 transmission fluid, and blue devil transmission sealer. I have been driving my vehicle ever since I trusted my gut and I researched and repaired it. I SAVED OVER $4,400. My error, I forgot to include the $129.00 I paid Ewing to diagnose I needed a new transmission.THE FOLLOWING IS A RESPONSE TO EWING’S AUTOMOTIVE COMMENTS ABOUT MY PROBLEM:Seriously, Ewing Automotive is actually disparaging my review (and me) by stating, “If you want shade tree work and band aid patches, maybe Mr. Dyson can give you some good tips on barely getting by and even help tow you with an old chain when you break down as he is a nice guy. We do not recommend buying a used car from him”. I was simply offering my situation based on the circumstances without elaboration or exaggeration. Bottom line – I was not happy with their solution to my problem.I am not in the car selling business. I am an educator who enjoys teaching 6th grade Math for over 10 years. When I had my vehicle towed to Ewing, by AAA, I explained to the owner that I was only using them because I had trust in their work. Trust is easily destroyed when you realize your vehicle was not properly evaluated. There was no communication other than “you need a new transmission”. Are we dealing with a replace instead of a repair society and mentality? Think and ALWAYS trust yourself.

I brought my car here after it began making a loud knocking noise. They charged me $130 for a diagnostic. A day later they called to inform me that I needed to replace the engine. They quoted the repair at $3800 for a used engine.Being a Vtec with under 150k miles I decided to get a second opinion.Turns out, it was only a tension belt, NOT the engine. Total cost $400.BEWARE of this repair shop. Avoid this business. Shady work going on. If I could, id give it 0 stars.UPDATE: The owner apologized and refunded the the diagnostic fee.UPDATE: I am not a third party. I am the wife of Mr. Gresham and the sole owner of the Acura you failed to repair. The lack of an apology in your response speaks volumes about your business. Have a great day.

Jasper engines and transmissions are warranted for 3 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Ewing Automotive installed a Jasper Engine in my truck 11-3-2016. After driving approximately 6,018 miles (Jan. 2018) the engine had to be replaced. After driving the second replacement engine approximately 4,992 miles (10-7-2019) the second engine had to be replaced. Both engines had an internal knock. I was told 10-10-19 that Jasper would ship the third replacement engine out on 10-23-19. I picked up my truck on 10-30-19, my hood was not adjusted and my paint on the rear of the hood was chipped. My warranty ends on 11-3-2020. The 3 years was basically gone when I got the truck back at the end of Oct. In 3 years, I got approximately 11,010 miles before the warranty ran out. I also purchased a 700R4 transmission 1-25-17, it had to be replaced 8-30-17. I have problems with it now, and I will not get another one (it is still under warranty). Some of the problems I had with the engines were oil pan replacement, oil pan leaks, front seal leaks, rear seal leaks, valve covers leaks and intake oil leaks. I bought a new carburetor, exchanged it for another new one, the adjustments were never smooth. I replaced every part that was needed. I spent over $9,500 in parts and labor for what??

I took my 1989 Dodge D150 in for some work on the rear end and valve cover gasket. i was given a estimate of the work and a time line when I dropped off the truck. Both were spot on. Mr Ewing told me there was still a noise from the rear end at 45mph . it was caused by some wear on the gears but was not something that was going to be a problem as far as reliability is concerned. to get rid of this noise it would cost an additional 450.00 for the part but he would install it for free if I decided ro go that way, I asked him if I could use it for a week to see if that was going to be a problem for me. he said fair enough. I found Mr Ewing to be very honest and a straight shooter. His work was perfect and I enjoyed the fact he made time to explain everything to me and answered all my questions. I will bring all my automotive needs to his shop. Good Guy.

Billy has been our trusted mechanic for over 25 years. Foreign or domestic makes, we have taken our Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Ford, and GM models to him, and we have always driven away with total confidence the work was accomplished with the highest quality standards with the most reliable parts. He treats us with respect and as valued customers. Most recently, we had a 1978 Ford F-100 that we were restoring made road worthy again. As usual, Billys returned a reliable, smooth running vehicle with the right repairs, parts, and right price. We have always avoided the chain repair and dealer repair shops because we know the Billys work is far superior. We highly recommend Ewing Automotive to our friends and others on a regular basis.

HORRIBLE BUSINESS! They grossly overcharged us and have absolutely no customer service skills. We brought our truck in and pointed out the part that seemed to be a problem. We asked them to look at it and confirm if that was our issue. They charged us $400 to tell us yes the clip was broken on the part. The $400 was not the repair cost, that was just to TELL US the clip was broken. And refused to accept our credit card because we complained about the cost. In addition, screamed at my wife and made a racial remark. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE OVERCHARGED AND TREATED RUDELY.

STAY AWAY! Charged me hundreds just to confirm the issue I pointed out when I came in. Their price board said $89.95 diagnostic, but they charged $95 per hour for 4 hours. The charge would not be applied toward repair. VERY RUDE treatment. Bad reviews are immediately followed by good ones that contradict exactly what the bad review said. A previous review said family/friends post good after bad. This would be to raise the overall rating back up. Funny, there were no reviews for years until a bad review got posted recently, then a few good ones popped up right behind it.
