So I had a not so pleasant exchange with a cross gates family fitness front desk member at the pontchatrain location which severed my 4 year relationship with ‘em forever as in membership canceled. Let me elaborate, yesterday, as always, I’m at the gym early in the morning. I was finishing up at the Step-Mill and this trainer (JoJo) and another woman were being ‘Chatty Cathy’ nonstop for 20 min. I mean, gimme a break, if it’s in the weight room area, at least, I can walk away to another machine but I’m on a step-mill for 30min so was kinda stuck. After I was done with my workout, I said to ‘em, hey, do you gals realize that there are people trying to intensely working out around you and maybe tone it down a bit? Anyway, this morning when I went back to the gym, I saw Darlene at the front desk (I think, she’s the director of daycare but was filling in for someone who’s out on vacation). I mentioned yesterday’s incident and asked if I sign could be posted for people to be quiet or at least, not have a nonstop conversation while working out just like we’ve ‘etiquette to follow’ sign in the weight area. Darlene’s response, nope, it’s a gym and people are gonna talk. Ok, you totally missed the point and it was one of the trainers (JoJo) who should have known better but never mind. Furthermore, Darlene tried to rationalize by saying that members are suppose to put their weights back but no one does. Well, who’s job is it to enforce it? Otherwise, it’s human nature and bad apples just like these 2 Chatty Cathy. I’m a member and here to workout in peace and quiet early in the morning. I’m not gonna be perturbed by someone who’s obviously not serious about their workouts (low resistance level while holding a conversation and since we only have 3 step-mill machines so you’re wasting your time and making others wait to use the machine ‘opportunity cost’). If Darlene would have heard herself (excuses) out loud, she would have been better off simply shutting up to avoid any further embarrassment. To make the long story short, I’m not going to patronize an establishment (Cross gates @pontchartrain) which employs incompetent and attitude prone staff (trainer, director) who don’t even know how to diffuse/ deescalate a situation. I am a platinum member who paid extra to use all 3 cross gates locations and with a family membership to boot (wife and a newborn for daycare) but cancelled it all because of rude and unprofessional staff. There are quite a few gym options in Slidell so moral of the story, be nice in the service industry or be gone. Irony is that cross gates has a sign outside in the plaza to attract new customers while they can’t even hold on to the existing ones. Good Riddance!

I was shown how to use the equipment by Zack, he was extremely helpful and very precise at showing me how to use the equipment. I had no.problems remembering what he showed me I consider that to be an excellent trait as I am a senior citizen.

Great place, with exceptionally friendly staff, and the equipment to match anyones needs for health and fitness.

Cross Gates on Pontchartrain is a great facility! Everyone is so friendly and always willing to help! Megan and Lexi gave me great service and answered every question I had plus more!!!! I would highly recommend going through them if your going to sign up.

LOVE this gym. Every employee is amazing. Childcare is outstanding. Only people I trust to watch my kids. Love everyone and the energy of the gym!

I joined 4 months ago & it was honestly the best decision Ive made. The pontchartrain location is truly like family! The absolute best part, which prompted this review, is team training! They motivate and encourage you to give your all. The trainer and the other trainees! So much so, that you crave it & look forward to being there!

Called to see how much it was to use the gym for one day as Im passing by for a few days. Was told $15, now I show up and they see me then Im told $30. I could tell you why I think that happened but Im sure you could all figure it out. I called again later and was told $15. Lol these are the people I serve and protect. Went to LA fitness and they kept to their policy. Thank you for your services LA fitness!

Really Clean Place with Nice Equipment.

Very nice facility thats hardly ever too crowded.

After paying initiation and 3 months of dues, our schedules did not allow us to visit any of the facilities and I called to cancel my membership. I was told that we would suspend my membership and to call before a certain date to cancel. I called. When I called I was told my account would be updated. There was no mention of my needing to email, I was not given an email address either. Now theyve charged me for yet another month without having used it at all. Bad form; specially at Christmas when I can use the money the most. Guess when were able to devote the time, it will be elsewhere.

The customer service and gym quality is excellent. I highly recommend going here and they offered a generous military discount too. I only wish some of the classes started later; if you work 8-5 in the city its sometimes tough to get back in time before they begin.PS, the reviewer whos boyfriends-brothers something-whatever? Are you kidding me? Your review is petty, grow up.

This is the worst experience. First I was mislead to believe tanning was included in membership before a contract. You can’t cancel bc it will go against your credit or buy the whole year out. Then I call after nearly a year to cancel, still having problems. I signed paperwork to cancel then I’m not for 2 more months. I was told that Pontchartrain doesn’t have a “ accounting office” only membership and they can do paperwork??? So did paperwork and all of a sudden there girl doesn’t work there anyone? I have been told by many Cross Gates was like this. I had to learn the hard way....

Facility seems crowded when you first enter. Spiritual fitness room is often not air conditioned. Fan that was brought in goes missing. Thank heavens the floor was recently replaced. Teachers are great, though.

Nice friendly place to workout with a very helpful and friendly staff.

Great heath club, this location has a family felling atmosphere. Managment and traniers are involed with the members. Very clean and well maintained facility.

I would never go there the costumer service sucks and half of there workers smell like pot and look high at work especially my boyfriends brothers girlfriend would it be petty to mention to say names I dont think if you cant pass a drug test you shouldnt work at a gym
