Have I worked with Golans for more than 20 years. They have done every one of my moves (8+) in Chicago, and, this last one to start the long process of moving to Texas. Jonathan and Julie both have always been so supportive and fantastic. Will miss the team - if yall ever want to come for a vacation in Texas, Ill let you know when I move again :-)

I had to move 3 refrigerators, a baby grand piano & lots of large dressers. They were very professional took great care in moving antique pieces.My only complaint would be to have native English speaking person to be present. They did understand most everything yet some things took time to explain.

This was the second time I used Golan’s. The first was for a full household move a few years ago, this time I just needed a small job moved a couple miles away in the city.They literally responded in real time and were able to fit me in the next morning. That feat alone during the busy Summer season was superhuman. Their crew got an early start to accommodate the request and were on time (actually early) and quick.The cost was very fair and great value was delivered. Flawless execution and no hassles. I pay for peace of mind and that’s what you get from Golan’s. Highly recommend for any one who needs reliability and quality service.

Lawrence and his entire crew were excellent! Professional, polite, careful, smart and FAST! When it became apparent that we needed another truck, he got one to the house with additional crew and got the job done. Ivemoved a lot and have had lots of bad experiences, but not with these guys. Nothing was broken and no walls were hit. It was a tough move and they never complained or slacked off. Highly recommend them!

We had a local, but very complicated move because we were downsizing from a four-story Victorian to a single-story apartment with some of the furniture staying in the old house, some moving to the new apartment, some being donated, and some being transferred to a second home out of state. Richard, who estimated the move for us was very detailed in identifying which pieces went to which location and explained the costs thoroughly.We broke the move into three parts. The first part involved moving furniture into a trailer for us to drive to our second home. Alex and his team did an excellent job packing the trailer and everything arrived unbroken. The second part was packing day for the main move. We had done quite a lot of the packing, but what remained was taken care of very carefully and professionally. And then finally on moving day, Raymond and four other guys packed up the truck and moved us into the apartment. Once again, they were very careful and courteous. Raymond reassembled a knock-down antique wardrobe that had not closed properly for years, but now it works great.The cost ended up being a little less than estimated, which frankly was a bit of a surprise because we had packed and moved quite a lot of fragile items, including everything from our kitchen. But, there was 6 hours of work and in the end, we are very happy with the service that Golan provided. We would use them if we ever move again… which we have no intention of doing!!!

I used Golan to move items from my home of 30 years to a rental community. I was very impressed with their services. Martin and his crew were professional, hardworking and very careful in handling my belongings. The whole move went without one hitch. I would highly recommend Golan’s.

They were highly recommended to me so I went with them, so glad I did!They were very accommodating of my strange timing needs. The building I moved into had a loading docks with limited time windows and they made it work so that I would fit into my window.They were prompt, communicative, efficient, and clearly knew what they were doing by the way the movers on site communicated with each-other.They allowed me to direct them to each room as each box and piece of furniture came in so that it was placed in the correct room. All my things arrived as they left the old building.I would definitely move with them again!

When they have your money (and stuff), their tone completely changes. For us, they were great as we started and even said if we called 3-weeks ahead of our needed move-in date, we could have it scheduled. After giving them about 2 months of advanced notice, they said they could not give better than a 1-week window, and they would let us know 48 hours in advance of our move date. In other words, we could NOT CHOOSE OUR OWN MOVE IN DATE. When I told them my wife and I both work and need to ask off time to move in, they said they couldnt do better than this. When I asked what would happen if we couldnt get the time off within 48 hours, they listed a bunch of charges we would incur. If youre move dates matter (or you want to know when theyll be), I suggest not going with Golans.

No one likes moving. However, my experience with Golan couldnt have made it any easier. The packing and moving teams were extremely conscientious. They were careful and efficient. I must say, they made me a very happy client and will surely use them again for my next move.

We solicited three bids, including one from Golans. Golans was slightly higher, but the sales rep was more attentive and responsive than reps from the other (I think more Internet-oriented) companies. This was a two-day move: pack on day one; load and move to storage on day two.The crew was careful, thorough and quite willing to go the extra mile. They showed up on time, worked hard and were quite pleasant. Wed definitely use them again.

Unless you want your items and furniture to be damaged while they are being packed, upon arrival in your new home or somehow disappear do NOT hire this company. Our experience included:- we moved during Covid and had to repeatedly remind the movers to wear their masks- several items went missing (Louis Vuitton handbag, Apple tv) and the company refused to replace despite our showing proof of purchase / ownership- holes were made in our walls as things were moved in- couch cushions had black stains on them From being poorly packed and getting dirty on the moving truck- pillows were torn- metal light fixtures were improperly packed therefore got bent and damaged- an entire bookcase was damaged beyond repair- brown leather chair developed stain and scratches during the move- Picture frames were scratched- dining room table and dining room chairs had significant scratches and chunks taken on them due to poor wrapping- items were dropped and broken as they were being packing; Had we not been in the other room and asked what had happened this would never have been shared with us- The movers charge by the hour yet there were several instances where they had disappeared for extended periods of time and the foreman didnt know where his crew had gone.Our list goes on and on. And despite purchasing an additional $10,000+ dollars of insurance to cover any potential damage the company refuses to pay even a fraction of the cost to replace the missing items or repair the damaged items (despite us providing documentation about the repair or replacement cost per their request). The crew was careless, lazy and often MIA (Important to note since you pay by the hour). We will not be hiring them again and unless you enjoy throwing your money away (or your belongings ) strongly recommend you do the same.

Arrived right on time, were able to get all of our big furniture out of our old walkup no problem. They were easy to work with and would recommend! Padded everything appropriately and took care with our stuff. Thank you!

I have used Golans at least twice to move and both times they were very professional. I worked closely with David, as well as Julie. They both are wonderful to work with. I had a hiccup with one of my moves and Julie fixed the issue right away. Would use them again and highly recommend!

I was referred to this company by a close friend, who has used them on several moves. So, I called company to get a quote on a local move. When I was asked my current address and zip code, after a minute of silence, I was told that they were not currently doing moves this far, really?

The representative confirmed the appointment by phone. They charged $1400–$1800 to move one bed, one couch, & one coffee table. Two minutes later, he called back saying that “sorry, we cannot help you anymore. Bye” then hung up. What business does that?! No explanation why they can’t do the service anymore. Simply unprofessional, disrespectful and irresponsible!!

We were downsizing and were overwhelmed. Golans was wonderful and helpful. We really werent sure of what we were taking until the day we moved. They understood completely and the quote accounted for so many unknowns. The staff was great from office to the actual movers.

Golans Movers is probably the best weve ever used, and weve several in multi state moves. Lawrence, Anderson, Leopoldo, and Kedawi did a great job - showed up on time, had no trouble setting up, best of all came in and did a big piece of the wrapping and even helped box the little things that are always out on moving day. Took great care of the fragile stuff we had - nothing broke, everything packed professionally. And super fast - was really astounded how quickly they got it done. I even liked the music they played. Were done moving for awhile (I hope) but we would use Golan first and foremost again for any move we have.

Very friendly guys and a good sense of humor.We received 3 quotes, I dont think Golans was the least expensive per hour, but they sent a team of 4 instead of 3 as were the other quotes so the move ended up being much less expensive having the 4th team member. Our quote was for 4 to 6 hrs and they easily finished in 2.75 hours.My wife and I were really pleased. No damage to our belongings, no damage to our new house although some spots were extremely tight fits.I also want to add that the truck they sent looked new, no dings and was very clean. First impressions are important.

Hey Golan! I used you twice in the past but never will again. Also this review should probably be 2 stars (since my first experience with you was ok) but who cares, Im giving you 1 star.The first time I used Golan, there was a super fast crew, relatively cheap price for the move, no issues.The second time I used them (maybe two years later) I was in for a nasty surprise.My apartment was overlooking an alley. I figured, great, they can park in the alley, run stuff up and down the stairs, should be pretty quick. NO. The movers instead parked IN FRONT of the building, adding a good deal of extra, seemingly unneeded distance in the process.We asked the movers why they didnt park in the alley, they gave some excuse which didnt make sense at the time, I cannot recall exactly, this was 2012. Needless to say, trucks park in alleys in Chicago *all the time*.So, the movers are parked on the street, and they are using a rolling cart to move everything. They put a bunch of boxes on the cart, go to the elevator, down to the first level. The foyer had maybe 2 stairs to reach street level, maybe 6 inches for each stair, small tiled stairs.The moving crew literally took EVERY box off the rolling cart, then brought up the empty cart the two stairs, and proceeded to place each box back on the cart.We asked the two movers why they couldnt just lift the cart and boxes in one go up the two tiny stairs, again we got some lame excuse that seemed made up. I cannot even recall what they said, it really just seemed like they were milking the clock.All in all it took FOUR HOURS to move a sub-300 sq ft apartment from Ravenswood to the Northwest Side. And it cost $400. At the time I was too flabbergasted and concerned with other problems (such as being unemployed) to complain. Looking back on it, I wish I did.I can only hope Golans other customers are much quicker to complain and/or do chargebacks on their credit cards, when faced with movers as poor quality as the ones I ended up with.One final aside:The move included a piece of acrylic furniture, a small end table that doubled as a magazine rack.When the movers were putting everything into the garage at the end of the move, one of the movers literally PUSHED the acrylic table across the garage floor, scratching the bottom of it pretty heavily. It weighed maybe 10 pounds. They could have just walked it the 20 feet.Just a terrible experience overall.Please think twice about using this moving company.

Excellent service! I cannot say enough good things about Golan and the men that helped me with my move. I had three stops and a ton of stuff. The men were absolutely wonderful and they handled everything with care and were very patient and had a great attitude the entire time. I spoke with Krystal to arrange my move and she provided excellent client service. I have moved many times and used different moving companies in the past and Golan by far is the best!! They moved a 300 lb treadmill up from the basement, to another house, and carried it up to the 3rd floor. They were VERY careful not to bump the walls, and to protect the floor. They worked efficiently, finished quickly.Couldnt have been better. Would use them again any time.

The team that helped me move at the beginning of April was great. They worked super quickly, and they were extremely careful to wrap all my furniture in blankets and stretch wrap to ensure that things wouldn’t be damaged. All of the guys were professional and helpful, and they put all their energy into the move. I don’t think I’ll be moving again any time in the near future, but if I do, I would definitely use Golan’s Moving and Storage again!

A team from Golans helped me move apartments and they were great. From the start of asking for a quote to the end of the move, Golans was very professional, responsive, and competent. On the day of the actual move, the team arrived on time, packed up large furniture items quickly and well, and was overall very helpful. I would definitely work with them again.

The movers seemed grumpy when they arrived which may have been because we were on the 3rd floor of a walk up building. However, what really bothers me is how rough they were with out belongings and that we didnt get all of our boxes! Unfortunately, we are outside of the missing items time frame so there isnt anything they will do. Definitely make sure you move your most cherished items yourself and have more than one person helping you watch how rough they are with your stuff.

I used Golans for an across-Chicago/ local move. They showed up early and were extremely professional and responsive to my questions and concerns. The team was extremely fast and, when they were complete with the move, helped me reassemble my couch. Even after that, the fees for the move came in significantly below the quote that was provided.

I’ve used Golan’s Moving in three occasions. Once in the city, once from the city to the suburbs and again in the suburbs. My experience was the same all 3 times. Communication and scheduling was great. They were professional and polite. They took care of all my furniture and boxes, broken down and put back together furniture pieces and placed everything in its new spot at the new location. Highly recommend.

I have used Golan’s for two prior moves. It’s been six years and this 3rd move shoes a huge decline in the company. We were doing an in town move of a 2500 square foot home. The initial walk through had the foreman say it would take 8 hours. Four hours into it, watching the four man team move more like a 1.5 man team, we could tell they would never make it within the eight hours. We brought it up and they suggested we pay for two more guys to come help. The fact that the foreman couldn’t accurately know how long the job would take or that they were not acting like a four man team (one guy stayed in the truck, one guy had a bad knee and the other was “tall but not strong” —quote from one of the other guys) and suggested we pay more was astounding. Costumer service leaving is in the lurch for a very stressful day was also a huge disappointment. It ended up taking them 13 hours. Only in the last two hours did Golan send three more much more energetic and capable guys was the job able to get done. We honestly feel like they took advantage of us and we definitely paid much more than we should have to move. We highly recommend you look to another moving company in this very saturated market with other capable companies to choose from.

The estimates that I received are close to the final end job pricing, and are more than competitive with other major moving lines that I got quotes from. We are long term storing our items, this time, but I expect that the experience will continue to be a great one. The moving team, was organized and listened to our direction when separating items between short term storage and long term storage. Highly recommend Golan’s for your moving needs.

It’s a good place for moving to a new home or apartment. You have to be aware of when they go back and dismantle a desk or cabinet. Then they can claim that there were no screw or nails and charge you for the repair. Besides that it’s a great place for moving.

I moved from a second floor and had a lot of furniture and boxes. The movers packed for me.A crew of 4 men worked diligently and tirelessly for 7 hours (they estimated 8 hrs) without a break. When I unpacked everything was securely wrapped and nothing was broken. I highly recommend this company.

I called Golans as a last minute attempt to find some moving help. Id seen their trucks in the neighborhood so I gave them a shot. Luke, the agent in the office helped me tremendously. He sensed the stress Ive been under for a last minute move so he was ready with all the questions and he got me a quote quickly. There was no fee to set the appointment and while they were scheduled to come later in the day, they ended up calling to say they could come earlier! The four man crew was friendly, fast and careful with my possessions. They were absolute ROCK STARS. I wasnt convinced we could get my larger pieces in through the back door because of the small kitchen area.. BUT THEY DID! And not a scratch on the walls of the furniture!Thank you, Golans. You guys took the pressure off me and your rates were stellar!Im a customer for life!

Amazing service. The most painless move I’ve ever gone through. The team was a powerhouse, helped us finish packing, broke down furniture & put it back together, and all with a smile and professionalism. I underestimated the amount of boxes we had, and the amount of packing help we needed, so I was expecting the quote amount to double when it came time to pay, but it was only around $100 more when all was said and done. I will always recommend Golan’s & will always use Golan’s. Honestly the best moving company around.

This is my first yelp review, but had to share in hopes that people will think twice in hiring them as an out of state mover. Our job was completely mismanaged - they came to scout our home in person and the cost estimate was high - but we went with them anyways because they stated in writing that their competitive differentiation is to provide fair and realistic quotes. They were off by 50% and our cost at delivery went from $10K to $15K - an excess we were not accounting for. They charged us $400 on the spot for an extra 20 feet of driveway they were not accounting for. The contract stated they would not outsource, but they did. The delivery of our furniture was delayed over 3 weeks. Throughout the process their customer service was not responsive. The items they damage can only be claimed based on weight (.3 per pound) - not value of item - therefore some expensive broken kitchen items can only be claimed at around $5-$10 once the weight is factored in. In all, we realized that damages happen, delays happen and communication issues happen...but I would be very very cautious moving forward with a company that can legally inflate a customer quote by $5k or more!

I had such a pleasant experience working with Golans. I was moving across states and very nervous about it after a very bad experience with Two Men and a Truck. However Golans office and crew were very professional, their crew picked up our furniture on time and delivered it on time. They wrapped everything with great precision and were detailed oriented with all their work. I was always able to get through to them on the phone and did not have to wait. They answered all my questions and promised me the best service which was definitely achieve. I highly recommend this moving company for a safe secure move. Thanks again!

I originally chose Golan’s because of my strong need to support local business and I was so happy with the results. We used Golan’s for the second time (because we were so happy three years ago when we previously moved). The guys were so efficient and polite and incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. Something that was very important to us was professionalism and Golan’s did not fail. The price was accurate to the original quote and everything just went so smoothly. You get what yo pay for - and paying a bit more for Golans gets you first class, top notch service. All furniture is wrapped and all items are packed securely. The y do a terrific job!

I arranged a move for someone and got Golans Moving & Storage because they have better customer service. I looked them up on Consumer Affairs, and then I looked at their ratings and customer feedback. Consumer Affairs suggested three companies and their quote and their rating was the best the movers were wonderful as well. I would definitely recommend them to anybody.

This was my third time using Golans and I have always had a great experience. My movers showed up early and were able to help me finish packing up before moving things into the truck. They worked quickly but were very careful with my items. I purchased the $45 insurance that covered $3000 of items, mostly just for my TV. That said, I had a broken lamp - that was it. The claims process was super easy and was taken care of within 24 hours. These guys are worth the extra money!!

Golan’s did a great job with my move. Very professional. Arrived day before to prep and wrap items and following day to move. They were on time, worked quickly, helpful and did best to try to place items where needed. Only thing was cost came in little higher than estimate but I highly recommend them.

Moving can be stressful, especially when a lot of the details are up in the air trying to sell & buy places simultaneously. Golan’s was an absolute DREAM to work with, amidst an incredibly stressful time. They understood that all the rescheduling we annoyingly had to go through was outside of my control and made it incredibly easy.
