I utilized McCormicks services after having my catalytic converter stolen while visiting Chicago. They generally communicated well with me and had the job done in a timely manner. They were also willing to be a little flexible and work with me as I also ordered a converter protection device to be shipped to the shop, which they installed as well. The things that prevent me from giving a higher rating are first that they installed a Denso Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor rather than a OE manufacturer sensor, which has left my check engine light on until I replace that sensor and second that one of the employees spoke to me in what seemed to be a frustrated manner over the phone while I was sorting out where I wanted to take the car. My phone communication after that and my in-person experience were congenial and did not present any issues.

I needed a tire repair on my wife’s SUV. Within half an hour, Jeff corrected the problem and I was on my way! Professional, friendly and very cost effective. I would recommend McCormick Auto Care to anyone who wants prompt and reliable service.

I’ve only taken my car into McCormick Auto a few times, but I’ve always been happy with their work and their prices. Only complaint is that they work first come first served, so you have to get there early, but I can understand how a smaller business would need to operate in such a manner.

I tried McCormick Auto Care for the first time (after reading the reviews) and had some work done on my 95 Cadillacs suspension. They installed a rear air compressor and put new lines in, and they did an awesome job! The price was good, the advice was great and the work was superb! I had no complaints and was very satisfied. After a 2-3weeks of getting my car fixed by mccormick autocare, my AC started to make noise again (reason why i brought it here in the first place!). I thought itll just be gone after few days then the whole AC started to make loud noise when I turn it on and also when i step on the gas. So i brought my car to firestone Lincoln ave to just have it checked and then they called and said someone must have worked and messed my cars AC because some of the bolts were missing! And the connector of the compressor to something inside the car (sorry, i forgot what the mechanic said), they just somehow connected or placed it there. So, firestone will replace all the bolts, replace the connector and the other stuff that they told me they were gonna fix which i forgot. But those were all the major problem of my AC. Total bill is $1700 from firestone. And i paid almost $900 to mccormick autocare which messed my AC ugh!

Very nice to work with, particularly as I am a more senior female. In my experience, not many Male mechanics believe you when you say you hear a funny noise from the engine . They believed me and found the problem.Reasonable prices, too.

After explaining to the manager what my problem was he was able to decipher my non-mechanical explanation. After their work was done he explained everything to me and I was able to understand what he was saying because he put it in my non-mechanical language. When I walked in for the first time I felt a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. After the work was done I left with the same feeling. Brought my car in the night before because ofv possible overheating and Ron filled up the overflow tank because I could not leave the car at that time. I told him I would be back first thing in the morning and I was the first customer. Next day water pump was replaced at a fair price and workmanship was great. They managed to finish the work that day because I needed to have my car the following day. Ill be back for any future work.

In one instance I dropped my car off early one morning and they drove me to rent a car so I wouldn’t have to wait for the pick up. On another occasion I drove in at 5:00 on a Friday night before a road trip early the next morning and found out my breaks were shot. They put 3 guys on it and had my car ready by 6:00. Great mechanic. One of the nicest people ever. If you are having trouble passing emissions, go to them! They took my car in, even though they were closing, and they drove me to the rental car place. They worked very fast on my car and drove it to pass emissions for me. Great guys!

These guys got me back on the road when I was in real danger of not making my cross country trip. I needed bearings and an alignment as well as all new tires. My aunt and uncle live in Skokie and they have used McCormick for many, many years. They guarantee all of their work and will not try to up-sell a customer. Plus, really nice people.

At first I didn’t know whether to review but I figured ultimately this place deserves good review. I went it with basically non existent brakes and they replaced them for me in no time at all, the problem being they charged around double the MARKET price for some of the parts. Regrettably I may have come across more arrogant and off the handle than I meant to but I asked for a small price reduction (20-30) I had a small back and forth with the main mechanic, but eventually the boss comes in a gives me a 10% of labor fees resulting in the twenty dollar discount). But this is the way lots of mechanics work and it’s my fault for not doing my research and being smarter about this, the establishment itself accommodated that and I commend them. More so this is for the company to reading this but I apologize for the way I had acted, and wholly recommend you guys to anyone I know that has car issues

Came in for a leaky tire. Was preparing myself for a new tire but it ended up just being corrosion where the tire meets the aluminum. They buffed it out no time was out in a jiffy. Would highly recommend this place as their staff are very friendly, informative and honest.

Honest honest honest this is the policy of the store they are unbelievable I had a leak in my Corvette Z06 only 14,000 miles and it was due to the oil filter and they could’ve told me anything and I would’ve paid it it’s a 2007 I keep it in mint condition but they told me the truth that whoever change the oil didn’t tighten the filter $90 a piece of mind the most reputable place I know don’t go anywhere else

I was customer of McCormick Auto Care for nearly 10 years and spent literally thousands of dollars on repairs, so nothing in my review is fabricated. The rubicon for me occurred when I received what I suspected, and later confirmed, as an exorbitant price quote for a repair that another mechanic did for less than half of McCormicks quoted price.After I decided to leave this shop for good, I reviewed my previous invoices (yes I kept them all) and noticed that this shop never indicates the actual number of labor hours on the final invoice, nor do they display their labor rate per hour. I also noted that they charged me for a part that I bought and provided. For that particular project, all I wanted them do do was install the part. Ultimately, that oversight is my fault, as I should have paid more attention. Nevertheless, the charge for that part should NOT have been included in the final bill. If you are a current customer of McCormick Auto Care, I strongly advise you to carefully review your invoice before paying.Another instance of shoddy repairs occurred when I had McCormick Auto Care do a radiator flush. About two weeks later, my radiator overheated and I eventually needed to have a new radiator installed. Prior to that flush, the radiator never gave me any problems.And one more thing: that Chicago Magazine top ranking this shop brags about occurred in 2007.

I was happy with the service- they fixed the issue within a day. I was dissatisfied however that when I picked my car up it smelled like an ashtray.

I have been to just about every place in the neighborhood, spent thousands of dollars and could not get my Caravan to work well for more than a week. Then, last week I tried McCormick Auto and these guys got my car done right for well under a thousand. Its running smooth, all the funny sounds are gone and the service was excellent.

Mccormick also rotated car tires and replaced rear window wiper motor and blade.

Great place. They know what they’re doing, they’re honest, and they’re reasonably price.

Cant say enough good things about Jeff and all the staff. I have been bringing my car to this business for many years, and I have always gotten reliable and skillful work from people who are HONEST and TRUSTWORTHY. Today I picked up my car, which had body work done from an auto accident. I needed some mechanical work on the car as well, so that my car would pass the state emissions inspection that it had recently failed. Body work was beautifully done, and when I looked inside, I saw that the car was spotless. They had done a complete interior cleaning and detailing, AT NO CHARGE. I got my paperwork and saw that after working on the emissions system, they took it over to the nearby inspection station and had the inspection done for me. I did not ask, or ever expect them to do this. They saved me time and hassle, made my car look beautiful inside and out, and exceeded expectations one again. They are great people to do business with!!!

Quick, reasonably priced, and done right.

These guys can actually troubleshoot a problem with a vehicle. Unlike most newer mechanics who read a code and replace a part. They understand the system and can figure out what is causing the problem. It isnt easy to find mechanics like that today.

Hands down one of the best mechanic shops in the Chicago area. They have been so good to my wife and I. My car broke down on the Kennedy near the Montrose exit and Ron quickly came to my aid in their tow truck. We will not take our cars anywhere else.

I highly recommend McCormick, as Ive taken my VW Tiguan there for repairs and have been impressed with their customer service and the work they do.Not only are their rates quite reasonable, but you can tell they actually care about your car. When you go to the service center at the dealership, theyll ask you whats going on with the car and theyll listen to what you have to say, but its clear they dont give a s***. I get the feeling Larry and the guys at McCormick treat your car like their own.
