My son (10), daughter (12), and I train at Endure. In short, Professor Jesse Cerrone runs an exceptional BJJ school. The instruction is deliberate, and allows practitioners to build their practice towards their goals, while learning in a respectful and dynamic environment. Whatever your desire is to learn BJJ, overall fitness, competition, mental health, self defense, there is no reason to look any further. This is a school dedicated to the development of others. Everyone is working to improve their BJJ, and the team is always helping one another to improve. Come by, take a class, you will not regret it.
The academy is neat and clean, very close to Shelton downtown and with plenty of parking space! The atmosphere is also great! Jesse is a very patient and knowledgeable instructor that made me feel comfortable and welcomed since my first class. All of the other students are also very respectful, patient and always available to help! One month in and this class has already changed my life, I love how now I feel much better physically and mentally!I can’t thank Jesse and everybody else at the academy enough! I am really happy and enjoying every single minute of the classes!
Endure has done wonders for my 6 year old son. In addition to learning Jiu-Jitsu from extremely knowledgeable professors, hes gained confidence, focus, discipline, commitment, and some great friends. Jesse and his staff are great with the kids and go above and beyond to make it an enjoyable experience. They offer free trials so check them out for yourself! Highly recommend.
Endure is an excellent place to learn Jiu-Jitsu and grappling; high-quality instruction combined with professionalism.
Starting Jiu-jitsu at Endure is not starting a sport, it is joining a family. Endure is just that. Professor Jesse is a consummate professional that takes time for each individual student. The gym is meticulously cleaned everyday and the setting is one that is perfect for beginner and advanced students alike. Helio Gracie explained Jiu-Jitsu this way: Always assume that your opponent is going to be bigger, stronger and faster than you; you must rely on technique, timing and leverage rather than brute strength. At Endure I have learned this. Come and visit us.
Best gym around! Jesse is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher. Class is always a great time, nothing but good energy every time I train!
I first met Jesse when I was 14 years old--my freshman year of high school. He was the first person I trained with on the mat and made me feel at home and comfortable. 10+ years later I still remember he taught me an escape that I thought was so cool because I was small and it utilized leverage to flip over bigger guys!As an instructor Jesse is patient, respected, and comprehensive. He has created a great community of good people who want the best for each other. Every time you walk into class you are met with friendly faces and smiles.Id would wholeheartedly recommend Endure to anyone seeking to get in shape, develop confidence, or looking for an awesome social activity--for either you or your kids.Hope to see you on the mats! :)
I started training at Endure BJJ a year ago after moving to the area from the west coast. I had not trained in many years and Prof Jesse as well as the rest of the students made me feel welcomed and like I was part of a family. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great workout and to meet some really great people.
I definitely recommend Endure jiu-jitsu to all. Ive just recently started and can seethese guys are some of the best Ive known right beside the guys I deployed with while in the military. They are Humble, Kind,Honest and very family oriented. The short time Ive been training very helpful in teaching me what I need to know. Im getting in the best shape Ive every been in so know this it will be a challenge but if you stick with it, it will make you a all around better person.
My son is 7 years old and goes to Endure. This place is simply amazing! Professor Jesses patience with the kids and ability to get them to focus, engage and be hungry to learn more and more is beyond impressive. My sons confidence and strength have grown exponentially during his time training with Jesse at Endure. It is a welcoming and non-judgmental family-friendly environment which means the world to this mom of 3! The facility is sparkling clean at all times! THANK YOU Jesse and Endure for going beyond my very high standards!
Hands down the best BJJ academy Ive ever been to. I live 40 mins away and wouldnt change to a place 5 blocks up the road. Phenomenal classes from the kids class all the way to adult.
I brought my 6 year old (5 at the time)son down to Endure for a trial class at the recommendation of my friend Sean just to see what it was like. My son instantly fell in love with it so I signed him up. After taking him there for a couple of weeks I decided to give it a shot as well. That was in April and almost 10 months later we are both still going and enjoy it as much as we did the first day. That’s due to the friendly atmosphere provided Jesse and the other students that go. Egos are checked at the door and the higher belts are always willing to lend a hand without judgment. Easily one of the best decisions I’ve made. Highly recommend Endure.
Awesome instructors (Jesse is really amazing)-great with the kids. My son has learned so much in a short time about teamwork, respect, and discipline. Awesome program. Highly recommend!
Ive been training here for about a year and a half, and Ive never had a better time. The smaller classes allow more personal attention and Jesse is an amazing instructor. Ive recommended it to many people and theyve all stayed and train with us to this day. This is my new home away from home.
From the first day I walked in with my son I knew this was the place to train. I was greeted with all kindness and respect by Jesse himself. The environment in Endure is so friendly and family like, that I decided to start training a few weeks after my son started. I was afraid and clueless the first day of class, however jesse and the crew made me feel very comfortable, and treated me like I was always part of the group. My family and I highly recommend Endure Jiu-jitsu in Shelton.
Teacher has never ending knowledge. Amazing place to train.
The instructors are great and give a lot of individual attention. Also pricing very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
Love coming to this place. Jesse is a great instructor and has put together an awesome program. Everyone is very friendly and theres always someone tough to roll with for those who like to push themselves.
Awesome training center, come check it out. Everyone is very welcoming, there are no egos. The place is also very clean, which is highly valued in my book.
Professor Jesse is a great instructor! He and all the other instructors are really dedicated to all the students and gives 100% in every class!
Ive been training at Endure for about 8 months, but it feels like Ive known the other members for 8 years. Jesse has created a unique environment of respect that sets everyone up to challenge themselves to be the best they can be, all while having a blast. There are no egos and no bad attitudes here. I couldnt be happier with my decision to try out Jiu Jitsu at Endure.
So, here I am. The morning after Friday night no gi class, how do I feel you ask? I feel great! I feel proud! I feel at home. I’ve trained before but never fully committed to a school, well, I have now. Jesse is such an amazing professor. He is aware which I appreciate. He will check in with you to assit but never makes you feel embarrassed. Everyone I’ve met so far has welcomed me in and made me feel comfortable and most importantly to a newbie such as myself, safe. I cannot stress this enough. I feel safe. So, if you’ve thought about training or even just trying a class, come check Endure Jujitsu out! I guarante you’re body and mind will thank you for it!
My kids first expressed an interest in doing Brazilian Jiujitsu (boy/girl twins 7yrs old) so I looked around and found Endure. We went in for the free trial and they were immediately into it! The kids class is packed with exercise, instruction, training and fun. Jesse has a wealth of knowledge and is able to translate that into two different levels of kids classes that keeps things fun and structured. The staff that trains along side Jesse with the kids also train in the adult classes. They are amazing and interactive with the kids of all ages. My kids talk about and look forward to going to class each time. I feel they are getting incredible exercise and skills that will last with them as they grow.I told my kids that if they joined that I would join as well - so I did! The adult classes are full of amazing people of all shape, size and age both male and female. I feel like I have a second family here, everyone is respectful, friendly and always willing to help no matter your skill level. Since joining ive lost weight, gained muscle and love every minute of it. There are no egos here, and there is no shortage of instruction and help with drills and training. I love that as a beginner im able to train with higher belts and even Jesse himself. It really rounds out my understanding of various styles and techniques by physically feeling how others approach things. I look forward to each class and go three days a week! The location itself is clean and bright with seating for parents and relatives to sit and observe. I encourage you to go down and observe if youre interested in joining for yourself or your family. Ive had many conversations with people interested in joining while my kids were training.
Endure BJJ has terrific kids and adult classes. My 6 yr old looks forward to his lessons during the week. We both get a great workout and have learned a lot in such a short time. The members have been really patient and encouraging - especially with me as my son is a much faster learner.
My son and I have had the pleasure to study at Endure for the past six-months, and our experience has been incredible. My son was 7 when we started and is 8-years-old now. After I noticed he did not seem challenged at his previous martial arts school, I sought out a new school and art for him to train. We had both discussed Jiu-Jitsu for several months, and when I mentioned we were going to check out a class he was excited. From the first class he was hooked. So much so, that it prompted me to join as well; I have studied various martials arts over the last thirty-years and was eager to get back to training.Let me be clear, this school is exceptional in many ways. Professor Jesse fosters a positive culture where the growth of the team supersedes the individual. Egos are checked at the door, and the studnets work together to improve their skills both mentally and physically. This is clear in both the children and adult classes. In the childrens classes, instructors lay the groundwork for future success through positive interactions and disciplined instruction. This approach helps studnets develop their confidence and an understanding that through hard work and dedication good things will follow. I cannot express enough how caring the instructors are, and how well these children perform under their tutelage. I have watched my sons confidence and skills skyrocket in these months, and I see no stopping this momentum. He already tells me that the school is like his second home.As for the adults, there is a camaraderie that transcends rank. I have trained in schools where higher belts are less than willing to train lower belts. This is not the case at Endure. If you are not rolling with Professor Jesse, you are rolling with any of the top ranked studnets. This does not mean it is a walk in the park, on the contrary. Nevertheless, when you are tapped out or make a mistake there are people there to explain to you how to do it better next time, and take the time to walk you through the technique. They realize as much as anyone else that the better the team becomes the better they become. We laugh, we train, and we support one another regardless if youve been studying for 10-years or one hour. This is an exceptional group of individuals that make sure everyone feels welcomed. If you are considering studying Jiu-Jitsu yourself, or are thinking of enrolling your child, there is no need to look any further than Endure. Take a class in a clean environment where you will be challenged both physically and mentally every time you step on the mat - you will not regret it.
I’ve been training with the men and women at Endure for almost 2 years now. Jesse is very knowledgeable and his skill set is unbelievable. He worked very hard for many years eventually earning his black belt from Renzo Gracie himself. Renzo is known to be one of the best in the sport, so to be able to learn from someone that trained directly with him is an honor and a privilege. Jesse prides himself on keeping a very close relationship with all of his students and really makes it feel like a family atmosphere. His attention to the details in explaining new moves to us is unbelievable. He will not rest untill he is sure we understand not only the move being taught but also the mechanics of it and the specifics as to why they must be done a certain way. You will never feel lost or out of place training with him. I couldn’t imagine ever training anywhere else.
If you are like me, you are intrigued but apprehensive. Let me tell you it is not like you are probably thinking. Everyone is cool. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Everyone loves to help new students. You will not have to spar, you will not get beat up, there are no cages, no punches or kicks or body slams. You can take breaks, you can get a drink of water when you need etc. Trust me, I hadnt done anything physically demanding in decades. I would be out of breath after tying my shoes. Im not a tough guy, I dont have huge muscles– well, i kinda do now but thats because jiu jitsu. Anyway, come down! nothing to lose!
I was new to CT and tried out a few schools from Rocky Hill to Wallingford. When I did the 7 day free trial here at Endure BJJ Academy I felt right at home. Professor Jesse is a very down to earth guy. He is a great leader and is determined on seeing his students thrive in BJJ. Even watching the kids classes is amazing, they work on techniques and play games that contribute to their practice of BJJ. The techniques we learn are very specific, we also work on some judo and wrestling to grasp every aspect of the sport. Honestly, I’ve never had more fun training than at Endure. We are a family and we love to have fun :)
This school has an amazing team very welcoming.
Best decision I ever made was walking through the doors of Endure Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu a year ago. Black belt professor, Jesse Cerrone is a great teacher of the art and the Endure team is like a family. Everyone is there to help each other. They even teach kids classes. Highly recommend this Jiu Jitsu school to kids and adults of all ages, shapes and sizes
Great Jiu Jitsu school and instruction.
