There is something to be said about local face to face service. Several years ago when we first joined Melanie Bakalas State Farm we had a good old fashion sit down with one of her agents who worked up a custom policy for our needs. At this point we had been through a dozen different insurance companys and always being let down so I did not go into this with high hopes. However here we are several years later and couldnt be happier! They always inform us of up and coming changes and let us know if or how it will affect us. Most recently with the new Washington state long term care tax they reached out to us to explain what they have to offer that may better fit our family than what the state is offering. I worked with Michelle Thompson who was very knowledgeable and honestly cared about us getting the best coverage. So to wrap this up if you are in the Thurston or Mason County areas Melanie Bakala State Farm is a must go to for any of your insurance needs!

My experience working with Melanies agency has been incredible and truly surprising. As a younger individual with a limited understanding of all aspects of insurance, Katie made it her objective to ensure I was well educated, versed, and understanding of all aspects of insurance polices that are applicable to my current scenario. Well aware that I was moving and going to be obtaining a policy through an agency in the state where I am moving, Katie insisted that I send her any quotes I received, for her to review and ensure I was properly covered and not overpaying. I believe this says a lot about someones character and the agency/ organization they are apart of. I have used this agency for all of my insurance for the past seven years. The agents are very friendly and they really care about getting to know you. That is important, you need to have someone asking the right questions when it comes to insurance. I know that someone has genuinely put thought and care into setting up my policy.Even though I have only been to the agency a handful of times everyone there knows my name and how I like my coffee. It is rare find a business that treats you with that kind of old school civility these days.

I pay my bill old fashion, with checks. So once a month I make a visit to the office were the people are always friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Im notified of new insurance benefits I could use but never pushed. And if i have a question they seem to drop everything to get it answered correctly. Amazing team with a warm atmosphere. My family has been a State Farm customer for several decades now my experience with claiming a not at fault rear ending of my vehicle has left me wanting new neighbors. It is day four and there is no check no rental and I am being charged my deductible. The other driver was insured and will reimburse my insurance company for being a good neighbor, but my insurance company prefers the other companys neighborhood better. Blah blah blah all the rules and technical jargon you want, but in my neighborhood faithfulness rewards faithfulness.

I’ve been with them for home and automobile insurance for a couple of years now. I’m happy I made the change. Every time I’ve needed to call, the staff is so helpful, patient and kind. They are also very helpful with reminders and I don’t ever feel nagged.

This agency has the best rates I can find locally and the many agents are quick to get the job done. Working on a claim and will add more after I am finished.

Not happy with the poor service all i want is for auto pay to function like any other business. Instead every month we have to go in anyway. Whats the point of auto pay if you still have to go in.Also always new staff so there is no consistency. And the new staff cant do standard functions like removing auto pay.

The ABSOLUTE WORST insurance company/office I have ever dealt with. I have had StateFarm for a number of years and recently transferred to Melanie Bakalas office in Shelton, WA. I continuously have been billed for items I never agreed to, as well as, items have been randomly dropped from my policy. I have called to cancel a number of times, yet continuously was billed for the items. The ONLY way I was able to finally cancel was by calling the national number and cancelling via that way. I would never recommend anyone going through Melanie Bakalas office.
