Like the name suggests, it is an Urban organization. If you are coming from village and need to learn the city speak and integrate yourself into the city, Urban league is the best place. They have lots of facilities and one of them is a drop in center. It is a place to learn the social skills of the city and get yourself placed in the social hierarchy of the city. The instructors can come off as rude. That is the speak of city of US. If you were in a European city, then people will be polite no matter what, but in US people speak loud and in a rude manner no matter what, especially in the cities. Now they will give you money after you complete education. Use that money wisely. As in for social integration and skills.Using that money for coffee at a cafe while all dressed up. Using that money to behave properly in a semi formal to formal setting is a best way to integrate yourself into the life of the city. They recommend people get jobs with uplift. It is one of the best staffing companies in the US. Behave well with them and they will offer career opportunities, vocational training, and higher paying and very respectable jobs. The urban league also doesnt stop you if you are getting job elsewhere. Choose wisely. Wisely in this case means where do you feel comfortable in the social hierarchy of the city. The people of Urban league first ask you to respect them like they are your parents, then like parents give you opportunities to speak up and speak in an uply fashion. They are very helpful and highly skilled people.Once you go through their programs and go through the process of spending great amount of time with them, you will become a person who is well integrated into the city of Seattle. They welcome people of all skin colors and they respect and treat them equally. They demand things and actions from you. It is lucky to have someone demand things from you. Obviously, dont be very complicit or come off as rude. It is for you to learn the social skills needed to navigate the city without being taken advantage off or being harmed.Good luck and have a nice journey getting integrated by the best of the US. :)
Rude unhelpful treats you like garbage
Recently I dealt with a very nice lady named Deann she was very informative and helped me get a few interviews lined up she also fixed my resume and lined up an open line for us to stay in contact my experience was amazing 😃
The staff was very unprofessional in keeping THEIR word to notify me in a timely manner that THEY set to let me know if I qualified for financial assistance. I went back on two occasions in the week and sent a email directly to the case manager. No response!! On the Friday that I was to receive the info regarding my case, the manager couldnt see me or give me a decision.(one of the visits) That was July 24,2020I have still not heard a word or response from the Urban League. Im thankful to GOD i have a place to live, in spite of the lies and the unprofessionalism. I had a bad experience there and I would not recommend it to anyone. However each one of us are DIFFERENT, you make the call.
Helpful place your in Seattle need help Id call good place and good people
I went to Urban League and was turned away twice. By the same man telling me he was busy making a podcast. I don’t even know what Urban League Does but I know Tobias teaches internet class Overseas on Urban League hours, which I’m sure isn’t in his job description. Wouldn’t recommend them to a Black Women from the Central District. But maybe they will help you.
The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle helped me through a time of great need. I have epilepsy and they were quite attentive in finding me housing outside of Seattle. I am eternally grateful to them and cannot recommend their services highly enough. Thank you so very much.
Very resourceful
Urban League is for everyone not just for ones color shape or size it helps us all to become very independent very loyal and very smart men and women and we will be successful through our journey they have a lot to to offer at the Urban League cancel Roosevelt worked at the Urban League for 35 to 40 years until the day he died thats my grandmothers middle brother came from Louisiana to New York for the n-double-acp also use a straight hard-working black man who wanted his family to be just as successful and he migrated here back in the 50s now he was successful and I would love to follow in his footsteps thats wisdom
Phenomenal group of individuals that work as a team but tight nit as a family.
The staff was very helpful and kind.
People are so helpful and really trying to help me be successful
I needed assistance 2019 and wasnt qualified. However, staff were nice and professional.
I’ve had two poor experiences with staff members at this branch—in 2014 and now in 2018, when I went to a Homebuyer’s Seminar. Ms. Linda Taylor aggressively told me I shouldn’t have wasted her time, and a room full of Urban League employees had nothing to say about my mistreatment. I’m unsurprised after talking with other community members. What a shame.
Great place to help you get back on track.
They do good work here. Seattle need more place like this
Stuck up, middle class, bougoise...Cant see value in anything besides that.
Great place..they will help and are for helping people. Alot of programs to help with license reinstatement,training,etc.....contact them and see what they have to offer..goodluck😊
Great people who really care about improving others livelihood.
Well Maya never help me get moved in but God. Now im trying to get help with a box spring & matress but my information keep coming up misplaced... Thrn I have to refill out more info. This state funded facility is complete garbage if I could put 0 stars I would check them 3 weeks after I turn my paperwork and they said it would only be one week also took 2 weeks just to make copies never return my calls voicemails full half the time even during business hours even stood at the door in the lobby at 9 oclock for 15 minutes until A person a locked it to let me in I dont know who the receptionist is or the person processing Paperwork but they need to be fired I am reporting them to the city of Seattle and the Better Business Bureau for fraud they are a sham And just a waste of time it Doesnt take 3 weeks for a one week process it does it take 2 weeks to put something in the mail and make copies she never answers and then after e-mail I get anonymous Email saying she will be out of the office until Wednesday which I feel is a lie be warned never go to this company
Worse place to ever get help from. They don’t follow up with you . First they say it will take 2 weeks. It has been 2 weeks and no follow up. I called and the girl maya is just rude and unprofessional. Why work for a place to help people when you dont . Pathetic.
Awesome staff ...great people
YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT IM THINKING. THEY NEVER CALL ME BACK, OR TRAY TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME. BUT I KNOW THEY HELPED MENY OTHERS AT SAME TIME. UNFORTUNATELY IM NOT ONE OF THE KIND.
Super fusterated and sad... I am looking to buy a home and was super interested in taking their class. Well first of all NO ONE helped me! They finally gave me a number to talk to Mia and she never answered. Called again and she answerd and hung up on me twice....I was hoping to have some help. This doesnt seem like a loving or caring facility. I will try somewere else that actually wants to help the community.
Has helped me tremendously and have gained alot of knowledge, resources, etc.
Love you guys thanx for everything
Very helpful and friendly service.
I Love my employment...
Great place, great support for families. Check it out
They never called me after i went to get assistance but no representatives were available.
Still early, but it seems like they are more caught up with getting funds than really helping
Great place for resources
They very badly misinformed me on the phone then when I got there I was treated like dirt
Great organization
Awesome!
Black and proud.
