This place is one of Seattles saviors. I believe many Seattle people owe it to the people who keep the Compass center going for the public as well as keeping the peace with the community whether you have simple needs of a food, water, perhaps a phone or just to was some laundry. These employees deserve a pat on the back for however they keep it together! Good job!
This is a great place for people who really want to be off of the street.
My brother was living here and unfortunately was shot multiple times on the night of September 28th, 2020. If anyone has any information please contact local police. My family does not live in Seattle and we do not have any information on how or why this happened. A year later we are still searching for answers.
Its a great place to spend your afternoon if you just need to relax and you are homeless. Has lunch and I believe 1:00 in the afternoon which is a pretty good lunch if ever finding yourself homeless stop by the compass center as you can use it as your mailing address as well
This is one of the only places in Seattle that allows the homeless to shower and wash clothes. They also help with housing, food, and even a place for people to charge their cell phones. Seattle needs more of these kind of places to serve the homeless and help them get off the streets.
Free mail address and PO box for homeless in need..and day center plus great hot lunch meals..
A place with a Rich history of aiding our neighbors who are less fortunate, like myself
Have mail service and banking, if you are homeless good spot to use.
The staff is corrupt, they foster an environment of rampant theft, and allow open air drug markets to flourish in their properties. Everytime I left Nyer URNESS my apt was broken into. The garage was burglarized, and the staff submitted a edited copy of the surveillance video that did not include the tenants responsible. Thankfully they had an actual human being on staff who showed me the unedited video. Having seen both it was clear other tenants had been edited out. That was only the first week. The executive director refused to speak on record to about the crime and would not provide me with the incident number. I did not even get notified of the burglary and the subsiquent loss of over a 1000$ of my property until the next day when I came downstairs. The unit I was in had plumbing issues so bad that I went 6 weeks without a functioning toilet or shower. It got so bad that I had to call the city inspector to get them to make repairs. A month later I was illegally locked out in obvious retaliation. The manager and the case manger stated that they had called and left 4 messages over the course of a week. After verifying that they had the right number I was surprised to find absolutely zero calls on my phone and no voicemail. These people will lie bald faced to you without a moments hesitation. And after some detective work on glassdoor.com and the BBB I found thisCompass Housing AllianceCompass Housing AllianceDid Not DiscloseThis charitable organization either has not responded to written BBB requests for information or has declined to be evaluated in relation to BBB Standards for Charity Accountability. What they do by allowing people to have a mail service when down, and out is great. We need more services like this throughout the country. Its the right way to be to each other.
I love the mailing staff! Especially one brother Ive known for years & admire...
I did well there but i left there with money but went the wrong direction at the time. I sinced corrected myself.
I understand they provide a much needed service to a lot of people my rating is purely personally motivated so dont pay it any mind unless you have had similar incident in which case blast away.
They deserve our support, and our thanks for all their good efforts to help the less briviliged
I used Compass Center in the past. Thank you Compass Center for your help!
I like getting mail here. I like the location of the place. A little dinghy but I call Seattle home. I like that there is such a place where people have access to their mail. It makes people feel better when they get a helping hand.👍
Day center for homeless. Visit website for details of services provided. They do good work, despite being underfunded like so many others are.
Very nice people!! You Can take showers, do laundry, get mail, and they have a bank also!!
A good spot to use for a legal mailing & shipping address. Hours could be more convenient and easier to use, because 4pm closure comes rather quickly some days...
Great place to get help with housing and a safe place to get right if you wanna be right.
You get all the assistance a person needs. Thank you compás center.
They truly help with essential things in a time of need.
Great resource for our houseless neighbors in this time of need.
This place turn into a asylum
Mostly low life clients
77 S.Washintom st.seattle wa.98104 free homeless mail to be picked up without sign in, just drop by and ask for your mail anytime you had given this mail site to anyone by showing your Id
Ive been living in one of their permanent housing facilities. Ive been living here for three years now and I can say that Compass really did save my life.. My building is clean and well run. We have weekly food bank, monthly house meetings, community dinner just to name a few things. We get a private room with our own lock and key, share a community kitchen and laundry, shared bath and rest room and even a community tv room. Staff is professional and well trained. Community living is always a challenge but we have a great positive environment and I feel safe here. Its a security building and there are thirty women here.We all feel safe and are keeping warm. Its really been a great program.Local businesses could dedicate a bit more for funding, its money well spent. More help in funding from the community would be ideal to enable us to pay for household maintenance projects. We would be able to finance some field trips like camping or going to a local festival occasionally. Thank you Compass, youre a God send.💖💋💕
Great to have a place for mail like this. I’ve over a few years had a few letters and packages temporarily misplaced but found eventually.I have noticed some staff have a lot moreexperience than others, sometimes I havebeen told a piece of mail wasn’t there causeit wasn’t found by a trainee I guess.People that work there are always nice and friendly.
Great and helping the homeless
They persevere over all the ruckus & work w u
GIOVANNI WAS A GREAT HELP TO MY WIFE & I ...HOMELESS HELP AT ITS BEST...GOD BLESS COMPASS.
Gone downhill since the merge but the mailroom continues to be on top of things!
They helped me with my housing
I worked at the Compass Center back in 2008-2009 and It was before they had private beds and taking a bath was optional. Although the organization was a great and reward place to work, it was unfortunate that for the men who cared about their hygiene, had to bare the others when sleeping who did not care to bathe! Im so glad to see that the agency has improved! Great leaders and organization! Keep the good work up!
Its compass!
Its okay please get mail
Awesome staffing great community center
This is transitional housing. The wonderful people working there are caring and giving. The most truthful individuals on the planet. If you have a problem they know where to send you if they cant answer your question themselves. I am comfortable living there and its anonymous. Theyre dont tell policy is a wonderful aspect of their existence.
This place used to be by Greenlake Kinda, off of the five line it used to be connected with the church that transformed into homeless shelter. Back when Ellen Was In charge, she never quite had a person like me, I got her in trouble once. along with my caseworker Lonnie got him yelled out twice! But when it moved to downtown things changed a lot. This was the place to be back then it was very well organized. Don’t know how it is now, I heard the old cook from Boomtown is in charge now. He is a fantastic cook oh my God! They have another place like this by Queen Anne, looks very well organized and clean I think they still do breakfast there on Saturdays or Sundays very good place to eat or was don’t know now. Good place to get off the streets and if you do good there they have halfway Houses where you can get your own room. For 1/3 your income I think? Good place to go just don’t walk all over the staff like what I did! people that know me there know I did this to!! Walking all over the staff is an understatement I trampled! This is back when I had all my marbles, before all the psych med screwed me up Mentally! And these poorly educated nurse practitioners going after my disability, Poorly educated is a understatement, a disgrace to the hospital system, now that’s more like it,and how they operate in Seattle.
Hiring process is a joke... and its very hard to talk to someone with authority... let alone get a call back from messages you leave
Very helpful social services organization for the homeless and low income. They are very professional and they care. They offer many services. They have banking and mail services and referrals to other services for those on the streets. The banking is good for those who have bad credit and cant get a regular bank account. They can also act as a payee for DSHS or Social Security. They also have a hygiene center where you can have your clothes washed while you take a shower. They will provide you with all the hygiene products such as shampoo, razor, shaving cream toothbrush etc. They have homeless shelters, transitional and low income housing.
This facility is neat, clean and well organized. The staff is dedicated to helping persons that need a hand up,not a hand out. The security and structure provided is necessary to help stabilize and direct these individuals back into useful and productive lives. They can develope routines and build there own structures for their own lives, always striving to be happy productive humans. The chance to start over.
I was a resident for one year. If There is anyone who was part of the over 30% evicted from the first year of Shorelines opening, from Cmpass Housing in Shoreline, Linden Ave, and you are amidst, or going through a lawsuit, have gone through; class action or not, please contact me. What they did was not right, nor should their behavior be condoned or go without justice being served. I have evidence that can be submitted towards the lawsuit which would include inappropriate harassment, the encouragement of the falsification of legal/time sensitive documents, non compliance of renter- tenant laws,/rights, and veterans rights which were disregarded according to UCMJ.and breach of contract..Thank you
I work for a drop in medical clinic located at the compass center. We have an ANRP on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday if you need to see a doctor. M-F there is a hot lunch served at 1pm it, there are hygiene services, mail services and payee services
Has been known to help people, just not anymore ive known. Its Good to have social services, wouldnt it be great to have social services that could afford to be great.
Good resource place and getting your mail, plus they feed also
Its OK
They didnt work with me to find housing and made it very difficult to get help. Not a great experience. They used to defer everything back to the client. The issue in housing is you need support and people to match you with the appropriate provider. They wanted to have be do this but I cant send the application - WTF?They didnt match you with resources that fit your needs and frankly didnt do a good intake. They didnt determine a treatment plan, inquire to my belief system to ensure respectful dialoguge in establishing care, they didnt ask about what my short term or long term goals were, and frankly left a disoriented person alone to navigate the system themselves. It was very confusing, alienating, and lonely there. Lots of community theft. Who can trust people when all your items arent safe?
Can weed be smoked in the building and the answer is no
Great place helpful seemed like nice people
Been receiving mail here for 3 years. Its a life saver.. However, Ive been informed from staff that their client list has doubled since last year! The line is very long to retrieve your mail. The place is still awesome and staff is courteous and helpful..
Not a good place the staff are on drugs and they let the residence do drugs in the bathroom. They wont help normal people who just need to find a job. They dont let u sleep dont go to compass if your sober and just trying to find somewhere to work from. They tried to put me out for wearing shorts while I was miscarrying. And then when someone was doing drugs in the bathroom no one said anything. The city need to do something about compass.
Good resource center for everything from mail.. to a doctor
Provides actual lifestyle sustaining services. Including lunch.
Amazing. Community support
Very caring and compassionate people who work there. Great place to start if you find yourself homeless.
Laundry service is good, but the staff seem a bit dusgruntled at times. Not what I would call an overly friendly environment. At least theyre organized and clean.
Great place to receive mail if youre homeless
A for profit organization masquerading as an advocacy group now. So much has changed in a decade, and it just keeps getting worse. They refuse to apartments, letting them run down. Having sold off all the laundry facilities for those who pay rent, they hired a scamming company to add a little hotel room laundry room that cannot be used to even wash a single coat. The Karlstrom, which is attached to their office building, is falling apart now because maintenance was neglected for so many years. To make it worse, they blame the elderly and disabled residents for this instead of repairing the building.
Great place
Good place to go for help. Great assistance when in need.
Very professional staff they will help you any way they can if you need somewhere to get your mail go here.
Currently using this place for showers and laundry. Can get a little crazy at times. New people coming into the city and what not. Thank you. Tommy
Ok first off yes this place does and has helped people on the street out. I personally just finished all summer + on the streets of Seattle with my girlfriend. And We received quite a bit of help from the staff there!! Thank you for all you did!! Peace..
The people were friendly and Pastor Kristy and all the staff was hospitable.
Helpful and thank God for that place
Extremely helpful. The nurse (Cindy, i believe is her name) spent about two hours with me, even walking me to a nearby clinic. The staff overall really want to help. Five Stars, absolutely.
Nice people.
So friendly I love those guys
Very helpful, Im honestly greatful for the people who put it together. God bless yall!!!
Im a veteran and this place is better than most
Great place for those in need of transitional services.
Great place to stay if you are a single male with health issues
Cool place that helps the underprivileged from predatory humans
Was really bad. But there trying.
I didnt go in
The Compass Center, may be a place to help you or youre spouse transition into youre anew geographical spouse when times are tough via resources available at the time you may choose to visit this Lutheran Organization for their Social Services demonstrated through the works of Our Creator...
Great place to check your mail
I stayed there 4 months on my transition up in housing. They maid me pay 30% of my disability income to live in a box without privacy and ripp offs roaming the corridors, then charge me to eat there. After my stay they gave me back like 300.00 and the guy running the place walk me to the bank they have there to withdraw the money; I thought that was cool. Till I walked away and went out to eat and payed my bill with a 100.00 dollar bill they gave me. It was a fake bill and caused me big stink Cops and all. Scandleless loser... look closely at all your cash you get from this bank...
Referred my wife & she also got a Orca card w/ it preloaded. Staff is very helpful & nice.
Great place to have a free mailbox and banking needs all in one location.
This center will not help you. I have been trying to get my mail forwarded to California for 2 months and I have gotten nowhere. They dont answer their phone, just tell you to leave a forwarding address and phone number, then do nothing. The title to my car is now missing and you can get no help here, because they wont talk to you. STAY AWAY, NOTHING BUT TROUBLE, THEY DONT CARE!!!
I like the way The banking system is set up.I have been doing business with them no for about 4 years. I have no complaints.
There are to many people laying on the floor and siting in chairs. Its called a line. Whats making these people so Savage? no self respect, no respect for rules or regulations. Wish all these people would just go to Chicago or somewhere. Its not like they want to better themselves.
WHEN I NEED TO EAT, NEVER SEND ME BACK, BECAUSE IM NOT SLEEPING IN THERE. GOD BLESS THEM ALL
Great place to get your mail when no place else to get it
Compassionate care while providing social services, housing, banking, hygiene and more.
Thiss a place where you can also purchase/get a bus pass from on a Saturday.
Great place to get on your feet.
Outstanding services and staff. I frequently used the Hygiene center in the basement and was greeted warmly and cudos to the staff expecially Sheila who has put in many years helping the homeless. All persons experiencing homelessness and in need of a hygiene ceenter to shower and do laundry, bankig services, shelter or referalls stop by and see them.
The staff in the laundry and shower area are rude and unprofessional
Client Services and Housing Assistance. Great place for homeless and or transients to get help.
The Alliances Clients are frequently hostile and abusive, similar to dogs, against anyone new, with NO provocation or rationale. The Alliance itself, will give you NO housing, unless you fit into a stereotypical category of homeless people--i.e. veterans, single mothers, junkies, street drunks, sex workers!! I have been on Compass waiting list for over FOUR months (since Nov. 2014!), with NO results!!Why should only a subset of the so-called homeless population in Seattle (only 150 or less, out of over 5,000 supposedly counted annually as homeless--figures certainly subject to dispute)--get e.g. free prepared meals, a double room w/bed, mail and phone service, etc. Apparently, only these chosen are deserving enough poor, to get the Centers (and Seattle/King Co./WA States) largesse!!!Why?Why do drug or sex addicts, deserve the bulk of the public (i.e., tax-financed) spending? Especially when the Center gives them plenty of time (similar to WA DOC!), to fight with and to curse newcomers, visitors, and other clients in the Elevator or Mail pickup room (always clogged with e.g. the clienteles smartphones, laptops, bicycles and fresh, hot meals for agency supplicants). My appearance is NONE of the particular clients business, who insulted me in the elevator this morning (02/24/2015), on his way to his three-hour bicycle tour all day of Seattle!!! I will end the mail pickup arrangement with Compass (similar to a failed 1960s TV sitcom--Put [The Vietnam War] on ABC [sic] and it will be cancelled in thirteen weeks!), as soon as alternatives are available for me (my bank [Key Bank] and Urban Self- Storage refused to accept this arrangement as legal and valid, which of course it is NOT--see e.g. Currier v. Potter (Ninth Circuit (2004)), for details). These people are (largely) poor and homeless for a reason--they refuse to accept even the POSSIBILITY of new ideas, and seemingly want to smoke, dress, and live in circa 1982 for-ever!!!! They want society to indulge ONLY their own particular whims---while DENYING everyone else!!!!!!!!!!
Laundry, shower, and a shave when needed. Down to earth staff.
Must visit the chapel and meet Pastor Kristy 🕊🕊
Helpful & friendly caseworkers and volunteers
