Please support the Ballard food bank, more information found on their website in ways you can assist in helping them get in to their new home, this is detrimental for the community and helping our neighbors! They have been an instrumental part in helping me piece my life back together, I could not have gotten where I am without them, their time and knowledge means the world to me. I will always pay it forward and never forget home and the place that gave me a new light to want to better myself.

The people here are very kind and helpful. They dont judge and are on the needs of the homeless. I would recommend this place to anyone

This place is remarkable. I am SO GRATEFUL to these people in a time of such great need. Ive never had to use the food bank, but was helping a friend one day and discovered just how valuable a resource this place truly is.They actually help people who not only need food, but also help with essential bills, when hard times hit, and they have.Ive gone myself now a couple times for the experience. They are fast and polite.You can ASK for NO COOK if you dont have a kitchen like me. Very useful, and necessary too.All the best,Eva

Ive never had a bad experience here, unless it had something to do with anthoer person who received services from them. Lots of ungrateful people ce through here, and the people at this establishment just grin and bear it, serving everyone no matter their attitude, with grace and dignity.

Fantastic and well run organization to both volunteer at and get food from. Arranged like a grocery store and items are bagged and put in shopping carts so the less fortunate dont feel so self-conscious. A great place for the homeless offering other sevices. And it helps keep expired food out of landfills.

The volunteers are always nice and helpful. A few different services/resources available. And its usually always packed so have patience.

I LOVE the Ballard Food Bank! They have the greatest, most extensive selection of food, compared to any other food bank Ive been to in Seattle. The staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful and they dont rush you through the line (which is most appreciated coming from someone that likes to spend a little extra time picking out their chosen fruits and vegetables). They have super convenient hours that theyre open as well. And, when I asked one staff person if I could have a couple milk crates, he said sure and grabbed two for me so I could bring them home to use as storage crates. Depending on the day and time you drop in, you may have to wait a while (I last went on a Thursday at around 5pm and had to wait about an hour before I could go shop in the back), but its well worth the wait if you have the time.

Excellent only serves certain zips so call to make sure. But no cook doesnt have zip requirement.

I love this food bank this place has gotten me through some really hard times. the selection is great and they have it set up in a way that is very convenient. the only downside is that it is often crowded and the wait time is usually pretty long, so if you need to get food from here plan to spend more time waiting then you would think.The volunteers are amazing, they are so kind, friendly and helpful. Thank you all so much, you have no idea how much I appreciate the time that you have taken to help people like me in need. You have my utmost respect.

Staff are always friendly and helpful. We are always greeted with a smile and greeted by first name when I tag along to help out my dad who is legally blind. The staff help him pick put food when I cant be there. There are postings via the bulletin board about opportunities and new services...every week there are people who come in specifically to reach out to the public. Sometimes it gets REALLY BUSY which makes limited seating a pain, BUT the line usually moves pretty fast ;)

You can REALLY feel the love from the local donors and volunteers of the community called Ballard by the quality and care that goes into every aspect of the well oiled machine that is the Ballard Food Bank.They have really been a major help for me.Over the past 6 years they havesaved me from eviction 3 times,helped me obtain ID at no charge,, and alwAys helped me (and my pets)be able to eat a varied, fresh, & healthy diet that I would never be able to afford were I to actually be able to shop the stores myself..... And the icing on the cake isFLOWERSthey have fresh flowers ând plants.Thank You

Staff is very very helpful and friendly. Plenty of Fresh produce, frozen meat and a good assortment of gluten-free. You need to expect a long wait before getting in, but everyone is very patient. You can call ahead to see when is the best time to go and shop. They have new evening hours and supposedly Monday evening is the quietest time.

Perhaps the most frustrating thing about this place is how small the waiting room is, and trust me, you will have a wait ahead of you. Also, this food bank does not have a book shelf like some other food banks I have visited, which, too, is unfortunate. They volunteers do offer sandwiches and snacks for tour wait, so chances are you wont go hungry then.The good thing about this place is that it does offer toiletries. (I dont think they have baby items on hand, though.) Dont expect large sizes or amounts for these items.The grocery aspect of this place is set-up for both homeless visitors and people with housing--I cant say Ive seen that at every food bank. The grocery set-up those with housing is more of a supermarket interface rather than a food line.I cant say Ive ever seen any government surplus food items at this food bank. I also kind of wish the volunteers were more on top of removing unusable produce.In all, this place provides adequate service, but could be a bit better.

Amazing kind hearted people there in service to helping their fellow community members in need. The staff and volunteers work so hard to provide quality donated food, sundries, and sometimes floral bouquets from area supermarkets and individual donors. They keep the facility organized and clean. Can not say enough good things about it.

Had a few issues attaining food.almost forced to camp out.get there early.and have mail with a nearby as address.good hearted folks.

How can I not rate a food bank 5 stars? I donated some dog food because theyre the only place around that had reasonable non-business hours to take dog food donations. The staff was incredibly nice and seemed very efficient. Some people were just leaving with food and all getting on the bus across the street and it made me feel all those feelings like Im not doing enough to help. At the very least, this is my favorite food bank.Dont park next door. Its a very hard lot to get out of and its not reserved for the food bank.

Best Food Bank in the city! The nicest and very patient workers there are truly there to help you! I wish I didnt need to go there but it sure helps me a LOT. Ballard Food Bank is clean, seating, take a number for Hygiene items, homeless non cook foods, main shopping in the back. A friend goes to get items in the back and I cannot believe the excellent selection of meats, fresh veges, fruits! Not one packaged item was expired! Could not believe that! That fact alone deserves 5 stars! While youre waiting please help yourself to a darn good donut...verrrry fresh. Can I add a 6th star for the selection of donuts, sandwiches (also remarkably fresh) granola bars, milk and chocolate milk.The people working there are the good people in the city. I feel they truly care and although you are given a number to get your items picked out...you are not just a number there. Yeah.

I love volunteering here, it makes my day to help people!!! I also shop because this food bank usually has an amazing selection of produce and snacks for my kids lunch. The staff and volunteers are kind, caring and helpful

Thank you for helping me get back on my feet again, I am so grateful for Washington services, your food bank is wonderful, every week I would thank you on the way out, with all kinds of new foods to try and spices, extras like cat food and litter, flowers and bonus meat on top of two pounds of meat weekly, eggs, bread, cheese, milk, butter, fresh fruit and vegetables, after holiday extras, you guys made my week and help so much, I cannot thank you enough, I have moved back home to Florida but I will always remember the PNW and so many great service workers and you are one of the tops.

Great food bank. I go on Thursday to shop for my 85 year old mom. They give a good amount of food.

If youre like me, the few who actually work to get off the street, you will find nothing but stone walls. The system wants to eat you alive, keep you dependant, and complacent with the ever-growing police-state.I cant wait till I no longer need to take time off work to receive my mail.

I had initially gone there for financial aid with my electric bill, which I received quickly with a friendly smile. It was then I was directed to the actual food bank where I got a nice selection of various foods and produce that was in very good shape. ( I know, shocker! )I was thrilled to get lots of bakery items because I have an insane sweet tooth . ( ever since I stopped drinking its been put of control! ) ALL that sugar that is in my booze I had to replace so I get the sweets munchies. Oh my gosh. Im totally writing a frickin book to the food bank. I need a life with some new friends, Im getting pretty pathetic. Lol! Thanks for all you do B.F.B., you fill and nurture a very important void in my budget. Keep up the good work! !

Good selection of food but it smelled like urine and the fresh fruit and veggies were rotten, lots of fruit flys and knats. I appreciate the food bank but it is kinda gross.

Wait times are often long,especially if you arrive there for services when it first opens its doors.....try to avoid that.Also, Security is often needed in the waiting room when one patron picks a fight with another...sadly,youll be on your own with that!
