I was a member for 5 plus years. It’s easy walking distance for Ballard residence and convenient location to other frequented businesses. The price is the best seller for all that the gym provides. Definitely the best gym for the value. Always clean and enough cardio equipment to not have to wait. In fact, I never waited for any equipment. It also has all the necessary weight equipment and machines as well as a great stretching and core workout area. Very easy to get a total body workout in a small footprint. Not like a large gym where you have to traipse back and forth to complete your workout. I had to recently cancel due to moving to another country. The cancellation process was super easy with a quick email and a rapid response. It’s NOT like other gyms where I have felt scammed. Highly recommend this local “gem” :)
Love the cycle classes. Much more fun than other gyms. Also I like the yoga classes and the workout area. It’s a friendly place. With a great atmosphere.
Incredibly affordable gym in a prime location. I go in the morning and its never that crowded. When I had billing questions they are very quick to help out.If you need just a run of the mill gym then give this a shot.
Great gym at a great price. Trainers are always nice and plenty of space.
Friendly staff and a clean gym with about everything you could want. Surprisingly great considering the price. Absolutely recommend it.
Moved out of Ballard, so I had to cancel. They made it super easy, I imagine because of lockdown. Sad to lose my local gym. Solid facility, has the essentials.
Nice gym
Great gym! Has everything you need to get a great work out in and never smells like musty men! The workers are amazing and are always positive faces to walk into, especially Will and Porter. Matt the trainer is also a great person to see working with such a variety of clients! Kudos to this well run gym!
Called to discuss my mid-COVID Fitness 19 membership and was hung up on by a very rude woman. Called back -- she didnt answer, but a different gentleman did. He seemed to chuckle at the rude womans behavior. Her name might have been Lisa. That makes the decision to cancel my membership rather easy, although cancelling is a bit trickier than signing up... and theyll give you lots of reasons why. But like most gyms and used car dealerships, they are run by hustlers, so this is par for the course. I had high expectations here -- Silly me.
Its great for exercising alone or with a partner. Theres music and tv, with small monitors on some treadmills for personal viewing.
Its a great gym with everything you need for weightlifting at an affordable price with great personal training. I went here for a few years and trained with Darrel and Akido. I only stopped going here recently because I moved.
Clean, well kept gym with friendly staff. Equipment is always clean and gets fixed quickly if ever needed. Bathrooms and locker area well maintained. Even during crowded times there always seems to be free equipment to use. The staff are always nice but a special shout out is deserved for Justin J. He greets everyone by first name and is always so friendly and welcoming! Hes the reason we joined the gym after the first time he showed us around. Overall, very happy with this gym!
Cheap and very nice place to get a workout in while visiting Ballard!
The positive and energetic staff will greet you by first name and make you feel welcome any day. Great personal trainers for beginners and advanced level. I can personally recommend Mathew Porter to set you up with a program to break through your plateau. Facilities are clean, machines are plenty and quickly repaired when broken. Access to a plethora of training equipment apart from machines. The only con from my own experience is the lack of grip on some of the pull up bars.
Small but complete. Not too busy.
Basic gym. You pay for what you get. Good for someone that doesnt like the whole class trend. Weights, cardio machines and tanning if you need. Decent price for economy gym. Just make sure to ask questions and make sure it is right for you.
The team at this gym is detail oriented have a passion for fitness and health and proper alignment and form for prevention of injuries. The gym is kept clean on a regular basis and the location is very nice.
Great gym, lots of machines, Ive never had to wait. There is (limited) parking right downstairs, although you still need to walk out onto the street to get to the gym since its a shared business parking lot. Id recommend it.
I love having an inexpensive membership option in the neighborhood! This is one of the few express style gyms that have squat racks, and Im so grateful for it! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable as well.
Often overcrowded, inconvenient weekend hours, and half the TVs on the treadmills dont work. Its certainly affordable, but you get what you pay for. Also, why would you loudly pump generic 00s garbage through the speakers when 80% of the people here are trying to listen to music on their headphones?
Nice space. Sufficient rooms and equipment, but could use some more space for an exercise floor area. Agree with another reviewer about hidden costs (initial signup and annual fees). Should have longer hours on weekends. All in all, good bang for the buck.
Poor maintenance of tanning bed. If they want to charge you for use of the bed, the manager should at least have someone inspect the bed for burned-out light bulbs to replace. I notified the staff of 5 bulbs that were burned out and needed to be replace. 60 days later, the same bulbs had not been replaced and 3 additional bulbs were burned out. In addition, more than 50% of the bulbs that were still functioning were only putting out about 50% of the full capacity. I could only count a handful of bulbs that were burning bright. I informed the staff of the issue every week for 2 months. They finally informed me that the managers name was Darryl and that he is aware of the issue. Just do your job and replace the bulbs! I also heard from one of the staff members that other people have made the same complaint. Not sure what one has to do to get the manager to actually give a damn.
My Favorite Gym. Super clean and the staff is very nice.I went out of town for 3 months and they let me freeze my account.WHO DOES THAT:) All the equipment is well maintained and they have a great selection. they even have Kettlebells and bands. Sometimes I ask for the battle rope they keep it for the trainers but if you ask they will bring it to you. I pay $19.95 a month and I can bring a guest anytime.
Best gym ever. Very affordable and convenient. The gym staffs are very friendly and trainers are well educated and efficient.
Great low key place to workout without any distractions. Very close to the heart of Ballard and very walkable. Staff is friendly and Lisa is amazing!!
Poor customer service, rude staff. Overcrowded. Manager completely unhelpful and obnoxious over phone.
Good variety. Pete is a great personal trainer. Been using him for the last month and I feel better than Ive felt in years.
Fitness 19 is a fun local community gym, they have a good Verity of exercise machines, cardio, free weights with plenty of room to do your favorite exercises. They have very low rates for individual memberships but initial enrollment is a bit expensive, all in all this is a nice gym, no parking is the downside so be ready to pay for street parking or if your local in Ballard you can walk or take the bus.
Such great experience. Have to go their and appreciate the machines they have in use there, Really like the variety of workouts
We love it despite the ageing equipment
Aging equipment in the free weight and no locker room are the only downside here. Its better than Planet Fitness.
Fitness 19 advertises great deals, but it is all a scam with hidden fees and onerous contractual language that will cost far more than the $12 monthly fee advertised on their flyers. First youll learn that the $12 option isnt full membership, but only if you go in and try to sign up. Then if you try to cancel any plan, youll get charged another month unless you cancel (in person, in writing) 30 days before the end of the month. In other words, you have to cancel the day you sign up or else get charged for two months. And why you might ask, do they need 30 days? Our billing system. Hello, this is the 21st Century, its not that complicated. In short, Fitness 19 makes up for cut rate monthly fees by nickle and diming you down the line. Ill never do business with them again!
Cheap, simple, great staff and very clean facilities. Has two rooms, a front dedicated to cardio and back to weights.
Great place! Best bang for your buck! Theres a huge selection of workout options and the staff rocks!
Positives: I got a great deal ($7/month), but quickly lost interest. Its not a busy gym, so youll never have to wait for equipment. Probably a good gym for you if you want a low-energy exercise program. (They have a Silver Sneakers program for 55+.) The place is only a few years old, so the equipment is pretty up-to-date (except AV equipment -see below).Negatives: The staff turnover is pretty high, and only one class is offered at 11am. The TVs dont have real cable, so if your motivation to go work out is some quality tube time, this isnt your place. The sanitation spray is tied down, so who knows when the machines actually get wiped down. That said, it was $7. Ive saved up enough to join a real gym so will be dropping my membership pronto.
The staff is always friendly and the price is most definitely affordable. Just wish that there was more parking!
Incredibly well equipped gym? for $20/month? No more excuses!
Great location, great price, good equipment, but mediocre hours of operation--only open to 6pm during the weekend.
Its a great practical, low cost gym in Ballard. They have a decent amount of equipment and the staff is great.
Ive recently begun training at this gym. So affordable and its really boosting my self-confirenze!
Hours arent conducive to working out when you want to especially on the weekends! 6pm, really? I also moved farther away and just tried cancelling my membership and they are making me come just to cancel. You get what you pay for I guess :/
Great price for membership, with a clean and well lite space. There is a small locker area and they do not promote cleaning the machines once you are done with them, but they do provide cleaning spray for it.
I never really used my membership much as I am not much of a gym person. The facility is pretty clean and the machines seem to be well kept up. The staff always were friendly and seem like they really enjoy working there. So my experience using the services was good. And the price is great as well. However - the reason I am giving this place a one star review is on principal. I cancelled my membership because I just wasnt using it. It wasnt a convenient location for me. So basically I cancelled during the month where yearly membership charges are made, which I didnt didnt realize until after I had cancelled and was charged for my last 30days + membership annual fee. (and they didnt tell me about the annual fee being charged when I went in to cancel in person- nor was it on the cancellation paper I signed.) When I called to ask for a refund, the woman I talked with was sympathetic (and I can appreciate the position that Fitness 19 upper management decisions puts her in) but reiterated many times that because I signed a contract with a 30day cancellation clause, she couldnt give me a refund, and wouldnt do anything. You she basically admitted to me that the organization doesnt care about what is right or good for the customer or about saving face (my interpretation) and that even if she did talk to someone higher up that they would say the same thing and quote the contract. Are they within their contractual rights to charge me these fees and refuse to give me a refund even though I havent used their services in over a year? Yes, they are, and naturally its my own da*n fault for not using my membership and wasting my money. So yes, I basically did this to myself. Its not really their fault at all. But could they throw me a bone here? Loosen that fancy tie and portray a small kindness?I invite Fitness 19 to contact me with the number they have on file if they would like to throw me a bone. This probably wont work, but I will likely alter my review if they do. Forgive this very yelpy review!
Fair price, friendly staff, has everything I need.
Best deal for gym in town, great staff, super clean, whats not to like?
Great gym, clean good equipment and friendly staff.
Very welcoming stuff and good price of exactly what I need!!! Hope they will adjust Saturday closing time coz 6pm is too early.
After being a client for over 3 years or whenever this facility opened in Ballard, I called to discontinue my membership and was told that I had to stop in or mail in a cancellation letter. I do not live in Ballard any longer and asked to be able to simply email or fax in a letter of the same effect and was told that was not possible due to their policy. I find their system of allowing clients in good standing for numerous years to not have access to a simpler way to terminating a contract with them unacceptable. They have no issues with taking an auto payment from my account monthly but they cannot allow me to fax or email in a letter to discontinue with their membership. It feels like Fitness 19 makes it extremely difficult to discontinue membership so most likely people put it off to not have to deal with their outdated policies. I am extremely disappointed with Fitness 19 and the fact that they are not more up to date and easier to work with for discontinuing my membership. I understand policies are in place for a reason but in most cases if it is NOT life or death exceptions can be made for the customer. After all that is what I have been for all these years!
Its a decent gym with very low prices. There are changing rooms but no showers.
Everything about this gym is awesome! i love it
Great staff and knowledgeable personal trainers.
They require cancellation in person or by mail. When I asked why, I was told that a signature required because of law.Additionally, they require 30 day notice of cancellation, so youre charged an additional month when you want to cancel. This is clearly a policy that was created just to make it difficult to end the subscription and grab more money.
Easy to get to, cheap and friendly
Got a black Friday deal in the mail. 1 dollar between 5 am and 6am than 10 dollars a month after. Got thier with the flyer to show them. They gave me their flyer that was 1 dollar with a 12 dollar per month. Didnt honor their word.
No classes in the morning and no showers, but great for weight lifting.
Cheap gym, the employees are unprofessional. You get what you pay for.
Basic but good.
Very good, no-nonsense club.
Being sick for many years my body has not had any exercise in a very long time...I felt comfortable here
Its ok, but I find the machines arent always in tip top shape.
Good free weights..
Cheap prices, has everything you need to lift. Very basic bit you get what you pay for.
Everything a gym needs plus friendly staff.
Cheap and nice place
Small place, but its cheap and gets the job done
Cant complain for the price!
My favorite
Gym is whats to be expected for the low monthly cost. The only issue I have is that they close at 6pm on the weekends????What gym closes at 6pm on a weekend?
Very well
