It was a good place with good barbers like Pablo and reasonable price. Now, there is a butcher who works in there, he is rude and acts like dump. He kept saying do not move your head during my haircut. He does not show any respect his costumers. He screwed up my haircut, I do not recommend to go there anymore.

Ive tried several places in Seattle. They are my favorite. When I find a place I like, I still with them. They are my 3rd, and likely final, long term place. Kira and Kurt both are excellent. They follow my quirky, odd, instructions every time and do an excellent job. They are personable, but not obsequious or overly nice so they seem fake. Conversing with either of them is good small talk, and thats a skill. The price is the least expensive around and its only gone up once in the several years Ive been going. All their barber are good. Go there, yet your hair cut, tip well.

Just moved back to this side of Lake Washington. Definitely love the vibe of this place. Glad to be getting my haircut here again.

It doesnt matter who you go with here - youll get a great cut for a great price. They do a great job shaping beards too

This place is fast, efficient and friendly. The price is right too. Parking is an issue: theres a lot but the pleasure starts at $5.00 per hour. Street parking is difficult. Was there on July 27, 2021, as the Delta variant of the Coronavirus was raging, and no one in the shop was wearing a mask...more like Florida than Seattle!

OK haircuts, OK service. Not exactly what I wanted and I never felt appreciated as a customer but the place is friendly enough. Cheaper than other barbers on the avenue but for a few dollars more you can get a much better haircut at Tight Cuts.

The staff here are kind and friendly, and they give good haircuts. While they and most customers are diligent about mask and other guidelines, some customers are not, but the seats are pretty far apart.

Been cutting here with the Laos barber here. His name should be Kuan. Very good quality and efficiency. with $20 & 20 mins, you get way better haircut here than $60 & 60 mins.

Been coming here for like 7 years.. this place is great especially for the price. Haircut is gona depend on the barber but if you come a few times youll figure out who you like.

They cut my hair fine but Ive had them trim my beard a couple of times and they dont follow directions very well. Both times I asked for a beard trim to have it just touched up and they butchered my beard. Come to think of it they are kind of expensive for the mediocrity they provide.

1/30/2021, received the best haircut ever from “FARAS.” The tall, dark and handsome gentlemen, who is happily married. “Faras” is the best barber, North of Seattle, with over 20 years of international barbering experience! Friendly, down to earth, family owned, and very professional barbers here at the university district. Best great haircuts with attention to details. Highly recommend this place for your haircut.

Ive been going to this place for years now. Its the most inexpensive haircut in the area at $19 but their skill surpasses any $60 cut youll find in the city. Great family business, great banter. Theyll really take care of you here. One barber even diagnosed my stress induced alopecia here. And I used to scoff at the notion that people used to go to barbers for medical care.

Been there three times now. My first haircut was with Tim (no longer works there) and it was exactly what I asked for. Then I went in a second time and a lady cut my hair, I told her exactly what I wanted and she cut wayyy too short! Basically gave me a buzz cut. However, I decided to give them another shot, seeing as how its only $17 for a haircut which is fairly cheap. This time I got another guy who left parts of my hair different lengths! Not what I asked for! Now I have a patch of long hair on the side of my head that he forgot to cut! Not going to be coming back!

Traditional barber shop, in operation for at least a generation, complete with a narrow row of barber chairs sandwiched between walls of infinite reflecting mirrors. Its not retro, its the real thing. Diverse team of barbers who seem comfortable with a variety of hair types and styles. As with any barber shop, its worth getting to be a regular so you and they know what to expect, visit after visit. Note that their sign and website now refer to it as University Avenue Barber Shop rather than University Ave. Barbering.

Good, fast, cheap. This aint one of those fancy leather chairs and hot towels (and hour-long wait) luxury barbers...its just a regular barber shop. But they down what they do well. Plus you can get in and out quickly with it costing and arm and a leg.

This is the only place I will go to get my haircut in college now. They always treat you with great service, minimal wait times, quick precise cuts, and every single barber in there has a great character and personality. The hair cut is also only $17 but they only take cash or check. But hey, they have been around for over 75 years so if you want to look sharp, these are the people to go to!

Ive used three barbers here and always got what I wanted because I was careful to explain what I wanted before we started. When I found a favorite cutter, I stuck with her and now when I come in she just asked me if I want the usual. Its worth getting the same barber every time. Know what you want and communicate.

I have been coming here since November last year, because it was the cheapest option in the U district ($17 for a standard haircut), rather than paying an upwards of $30 for a haircut elsewhere. I then moved down to White Center not too long after and wanted to continue to see him because he was familiar with the thickness of my hair, etc.Today, I went in to get my hair cut, and was very descriptive about how I wanted my hair, and he literally got the 3 Blade and shaved my head all the way up the sides, when I asked to gradually clip it shorter, because I wanted to part it.Kirk, the barber cutting my hair, also seemed like he was in a huge rush, which was why he made the mistake, in addition to failing to listen to detailed instructions.Now, I have odd-looking hair, hair sticking up all over the place, and a funky part.I gave him a tip, though it wasnt deserved. It is the last hell be getting of my business.Update 9/9/17:I figured Id give the establishment another chance. Go in and get my hair cut by Phillip. Worst mistake ever. Didnt listen to a single word I said. I feel like this place has a propensity to do that. Not listen. Cut my hair in an odd way and then tried to make an excuse when I specifically told him to listen to me and what I suggested, since I do after all know my hair best.There needs to be a major revamp of that establishment, barbers and all.

Just had a haircut with Tim. I asked for a high medium fade with a 4 on top, no skin. He suggested a 5 on top and gradually shorter in the sides. I went along with it. But insteadof what suggested he gave me a 2 all around. Its a shame that I give my experience only 1 star, because everyone else in the barbershop are great to work with.

Dont go here. I read reviews about barbers not doing what the customer asked for, but still wanted to give it a shot. Barber was fat tan dude, asked for an inch on the side, got like a 5 or 6, with asymmetrical hairline on the side. Pissed, never going back to this place as barbers pretend to listen then proceed to do whatever they like.

I have been going there for decades. I always get a #1 blade, and they dont mess it up. Many other places do mess up a #1. I always joke with them and give them a hard time. They are great people and are good barbers.

The barber (Pablo) did really well, and accomplished exactly what I wanted, though I didnt want anything particularly fancy or styled. It cost $17, which was a little pricier than I would have liked, but not bad.

Didnt have to wait at all, just came in and was given a chair. Got back home about 40 minutes after I left (and I had to go to the bank for cash). Just dont forget to bring $17 cash (normal mens cut).

I have been going here for the past 5 years while an undergrad at the UW. The last 2 haircuts have been absolutely horrible. First, the lady barber managed to cut my forehead 2 separate times. Figured it was an off day so I went back. I have been growing my hair out for 2 months in order to grow a mullet (as a joke), so what does the barber do? STARTS my haircut by buzzing the back of my head. And then when I tell him to just buzz it all off still charges me for a full haircut instead of a buzz. Are you kidding me?

WARNING: DO NOT GO IN THERE AT THE END OF THE DAY. The barbers obviously get tired by the end of tneir shift and dont gaf about your look.
