Rented a house that Rodney is the landlord for from September 2017-2018. When I first arrived from California the first thing I noticed was how dirty the house was. Dirty floors, dirty toilets, dirty walls, dirty windows, blinds, ceiling fans, etc. Torn carpet that was at least 5 years old. Food in between the over and counter tops ( and Im talking a lot of food). I spent the next few weeks cleaning myself since obviously his maid didnt know how. Then the vertical blinds to the patio wouldnt open and the screen door wouldnt stay shut. When I contacted him his exact words were people in Arizona dont open there windows. The other windows were so clogged with dirt I never even got them to open. Now mind you I had given him a $2300 deposit. I tried not to contact him for any other reason other than the pool guy never actually cleaned the pool. His response was nobody else has complained. When I gave him my notice, I actually moved out a month early and still paid my rent through the end of September 2018. When I received my deposit back it was short $600. He put in a letter that it cost $249 to clean the carpet ( legally he is responsible) since it has to be done for the next tensnt. He also deducted $225 to trim a tree. He got a notice from his hoa that it needed to be done or he would be charged $50. It does not cost $225 to trim one tree and he doesnt have a receipt. Does this sound like someone youdy want to be your landlord?
