Ive been at different gyms my whole life and this one by far has been the worst.Starting by#1 The crew at the front desk. Or no ones is there, but if there some one is on their cellphone, you are invisible. Or there is 5 people but all talking between them or eating their lunch right there and too busy to greet you.#2 The floors at this gym I believe they havent been clean in months. Same stain and trash for weeks.#3 The bathrooms looks like a war zone, dirty, or no paper to dry your hands or the trash havent been change in few days, walls are with dents and without been painted.#4 The equipment is so dirty and sweat, broken, out of service or about to falling apart. You can tell havent been cleaned in months and half of the equipment doesnt work.#5 Water fountains are disgusting, looks like a public one.#6 Equipment is all over the places, no staff to pick up or to re rack free weights. Some equipment cant even use then since some parts are missing.#7 The positive one is, theres always parking.All this have been on different occasions, times and days for months. No one cares about this place. I recommend to fix it or close it.

2 stars for the gym. Then negative 1 star for how I saw management treat a member today. Gym is always packed. Equipment is old, worn and seems like it has never been replaced. There is not enough machines or free weights. The basketball court was recently re-done and is the only thing nice about this gym. Overall - the worst LA fitness I have been to date.Today I just witnessed the gym staff denying a member from cancelling her membership and told her that the only way to do this was if she moved to a part of the state with no LA fitness within a 25 mile radius or if she gets a physicians note stating that she could no longer work out. I am pretty sure this is illegal.FYI you can always email corporate to cancel or log into your account and send in a cancellation form.

Equipment is in poor condition. Stuff breaks because it’s old and it never gets fixed or replaced. The people that go there are not capable of putting weights back or correct place so it’s impossible to find weights you need. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s dirty. There are rarely paper towels available to wipe down machines. There’s no paper towel dispenser in the weight section. The positives? Relatively inexpensive. Convenient location. Good size.

I really did not like this location, most of the machines are broken and they do not fix them, and the bathrooms are very dirty, there is a lack of maintenance and care there. The people who use these services must be more conscientious and take care of things too.

Worst gym I been to. 30% of equipment it’s broken. Pics where taken 7/3/21. No paper towels to whine down equipment. I guess they don’t believe in COVID or bacterias. Machines need to be maintenance sometimes they get stuck

The selling crew is professional but once you got in seems like they don’t care about quality anymore. I have a annual plan and I started to void coming to the gym. There is equipment broken for more then 4 months. Water fountain is getting incredibly nasty since the first time I signed up. Gym is packed at anytime. My condominium gym room is become way more convenient then working out here. Sad. Not renewing my plan and not recommending this gym to anyone anymore.

Once they get into your credit card they are always getting your money either you freez it or cancel it. Usually Im working out and they are on cleaning routine. Please have some respect for your customers I dont mean to be rude but I dont think its professional to block one section of the gym and do cleaning. I clearly understand they want to save sometime and go home early but Im there per there schedule if they say they are cleaning I wont go.

Went in with a friend. I had to get a day pass, tad bit expensive for my taste, but it did the job. I do have one local, well see if it becomes my longtime gym.

The gym is dirty everythings broken all the padding on the machines are ripped and you are subject to watch whatever they decide on TV when youre on a treadmill when you ask for something to be updated or clean all they do is blow smoke up your a++ Im so happy Im not paying full price for this gym because if I was I wouldnt be here showers and sauna not working. When you tell them about something not working theyre like oh yeah we know and they laugh at you

Worst gym I have ever been to. Had a hard time canceling my membership and yet I’m still being charged each month. Manager who’s in charge of canceling membership is never there. Equipment are broken. Check out Boston sports club, or anytime fitness much better alternatives

Be careful when signing the contract with the academys personal company (Saugus), they lied to me🥲I had to cancel with health problems and they dont even cancel with a medical letter, in addition to putting in the contract a number of classes that you cant fulfill just to charge a higher amount. Deceiving looking gym. Appears huge with the multiple open rooms & swimming pool, but once you hit the weights section it is super claustrophobic. Weird squat racks. Cushioning on some of the machines (leg extension for example) is worn out and torn. Expected more

I would give it 0, if I had option. Why give such a hard time to clients when cancelling membership! I have to mail, MAIL request to cancel membership!!! So I have to go to buy post stamp, envelop and find Post office!!! Seriously?!!! We are living in Digital time, everything by E-mail, online!!! Stuff in Saugus LA, not helpful at all!!! You would think that a gym that has been closed for the past few months, for renovations, would have at least new equipment to replace the worn out equipment. Nope, they just added a green area that only Personal Trainers can use. 🙄 Very squished weight lifting area, and half the showers dont work. Very disappointed in this location

This place is disgusting. They dont clean anything. There are used paper towels laying all over the equipment and locker rooms. I opened a locker and it was full of used Q-tips. Half the machines dont work and are ripped or torn open.

Its been three months working here but the stairs machines are still not working, only one machines is in working condition which is mostly booker on most days.

I have visit the Walpole, stoneham and Pawtucket locations but this one in Saugus is worst location of all of them. Really disorganized. There’s multiple machines broken for months and other falling in to debris and the owner seems not to care enough to make any repairs. It’s the most crowded gym and if you go on peak hours and just gonna be frustrated. The sauna in Walpole is open has been more than a month compared to the one in Saugus that’s still closed. I switched from planet fitness because I thought LA was better but the location in Saugus it’s the same level I’d say. If your only option is to go to the la branch in Saugus you’re better off in another gym but other location are great. Especially Walpole way better, less crowded, all the machines works great and the sauna is open.

Nice gym, many different machines and weights

Over the past year the quality of this gym has improved dramatically. New set up, new equipment and it’s a lot cleaner! I feel safer coming here during the pandemic because they’re really working hard to clean and sanitize everything. The manager at the front desk (Gilson?) is a really friendly guy, looks like he runs a tight ship. Definitely the nicest gym in the area.

I really like LA fitness for the couple times I went in Yonkers location and Boston its good to bad where I live there is no LA fitness because I would of definitely enroll.

First time there, I did the pool and it was what I would want out of my pool. 4 lanes. At first they were all used, but a kind guy let me take his as I had it for an hour. My girlfriend went and used the machines, her experience was different. She didnt like the machines as they were out dated and some were ripped up and patched with duct tape. All the staff were nice. They gave us a 10 minute intro with our guest passes, took our pictures, and introduced us quickly to the gym by pointing it out (not one of those annoying walk around tours).

The gym has been rearranged due to COVID, allowing a larger area for personal training with social distancing. Available lockers are reasonably spaced, with very clear notices on the one that arent. The pool has been drained, so no swimming. Exercise machines are clearly marked, but some people were not honoring these signs. I saw a few people (3 or 4) walking around with their masks down. I understand doing this when doing the exercise, but the gym shouldnt be letting people walk around like that. Overall, I was satisfied that there are efforts to protect us while we resume our daily activities, but there is room to improve.

Really great gym! Especially now in time from Covid, they keep the gym clean, disinfecting spray is available everywhere. Equipment is relatively good. There are some small things that could be improved but overall really good gym. And yeah, staff is very very friendly and professional.

Decent pool and gym. But mens room doesnt have a wet clothes spinner or even a hair dryer. Its basic and is always present in any other gym pool. Management should consider it.

Been going to this gym for more than 1.5 years and its only getting worse. if you see anything that doesnt work dont expect it to be repaired anytime soon, Ive seen machines that have been broken for 6 months and still havent been repaired yet. the bathroom is also incredibly dirty and the gym is unorganized with weights everywhere. the membership price is also very unreasonable and getting more expensive. if you see this review please ignore this gym and look for a different one im begging you

A great gym with lots of amenities and surprisingly helpful staff. First off, I’ll start with I’m not a fan of big gym chains and have usually used smaller gyms most of my life. I recently moved to Melrose and wanted to find a new gym and didn’t expect that this LA fitness would be what I’d choose - but it’s surprisingly awesome. Tons of equipment and amenities (for when the pandemic subsides). Only caveat would be - do not do the “fitness” test at the start - waste of time and a sales pitch. But otherwise, a great gym with friendly staff!

If all you need is a place to push weights and hop on a machine, this place is fine.The place stinks. Its obviously never cleaned. Like. Ever. Equipment is aging but works.Easy parking.The problem with the place?The members. No one rewracks weights. If they do, they pluck a random place.Im looking at 95s in 50. 75 in 45. 70 in 20. 85 in 15. 25 in 75. Free weights left on the floor everywhere. Filled with jerks, this gym.Members will stand inches from you when they could move 3 feet away to work out. Members chitchat... No... Yell talk at each other.I wont be renewing my membership.

I am very sad with the service and trying to solve a problem that you caused in relation to the freezing and release of charges in my account without my consciousness. At the beginning of the Pandemic, all accounts were frozen, and when they released to return, I was not informed and they are charging me for two months. UNFAIRLY. I asked them to be able to free me from this charge, once I got infected, and also, I was not informed of the release of this account thaw. I have nothing against the gym, because it is great and helped me the months I had it. What leaves me wanting is the neglect and poor service that should be exemplary in being more humane to the client who was infected. For not having access or information about the progress.Im being charged for two months which I didnt use and at the time I was sick.I wanted to know how to resolve this discomfort, and be able to return to normal activities. I dont want to leave the gym. But if I have to pay these two months, I request that you cancel my account, as I am being wronged.I ask that someone from the management with the help, can really help me.Im waiting now. Their service was terrible, I tried to cancel the gym 4 times, and they said I needed to talk to a manager, but the gerenge is never there. they gave me a sheet to send to their address, and until today it hasnt been answered, to do the cancellation by email

Some of the patrons did not wear masks while working out. I attended a yoga class and before my class there was an aerobic class, the staff didnt go and clean before our class I felt uncomfortable with being on the floor with possible exposure to sweat etc. Ill be there next Saturday with hopes theyll clean after each class.M.P

Poor customer service. Dont email them they wont get back to you.for month but when they finally do everything you asked or stated in the email is completely ignored. I have been a member of this gym for over two years now and I seriously do not regret signing up. LA Fitness may be a bit more pricey than alternatives like Planet Fitness, however it more than makes up for this with a greater range of exercise equipment. Bench presses, squat racks, and free weights that weigh over 50 lbs can be hard to come by at other more casual gyms, but LA Fitness has a capable number of them. Ive met some very cool guys and made great advancements in my physical strength thanks to this gym.There are a couple of cons to this gym that I should mention. The first is that when a piece of equipment breaks, it is not abnormal for it to stay broken for months before it is fixed. It would be nice to see equipment being fixed faster in the future. Also, the locker rooms can be uncleanly at times. There is a janitor working very hard at all hours there but it looks like he has a hard time keeping up with the messes. This is mostly the fault of the members who do unholy things to the toilets and leave trash everywhere, not to put the blame fully on the cleaning staff.I had to cancel my membership this week as Im leaving in the beginning of June for boot camp, and it was an unbelivably easy and painless process. A very awesome employee brought me over to his computer and within a few clicks my membership was cancelled without me having to jump through hoops.I would definitely do business with LA Fitness in the future.

For a LA Fitness, I find this one to be substandard. The machines are old, often out of service for months, or broken and can’t be used. The people at the gym don’t respect others’ space and the time people spend working out. For example, people on the phone talking loud for a length of time, playing music off their phones or other electronic devices loudly for others to hear. When you say something to staff, they do nothing. Finally, I was at the gym Sunday and Monday before Christmas Eve and they don’t post the hours in advance to prepare members. I show up today at 11:00 am, Christmas Eve, with a sign reading they are closing at 12:00 noon. At closing, as you’re walking out, then you see multiple signs at the exit showing hours for Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. I don’t know who manages this LA Fitness gym but it’s run like a ghetto corner store. I only come here because it’s the closest one to my home. Coming from Pennsylvania, the LA Fitnesses were run better. I don’t see where my monthly membership fee is going when other locations are handled with quality equipment, cleanliness, and qualify of staff. Not all LA Fitness are created equal.

Only dislike are the treadmills upstairs. I have a bit of a weird fear of heights and dont feel comfortable using the treadmills upstairs. Well run gym, has pool, basketball court, great equipment. Bathrooms and showers are fairly always clean. Id give a 5 star easy if it wasnt for the upstairs treadmills and kept a little cleaner. Particularly mens bathroom, showers, etc

I came to check out how this facility would be in a COVID world with new policies and guidelines in place. They have signs stating masks are required in the facility posted all over. While everyone had masks on their person. I counted no less than 15 people with them down around their chins. Having a mask on you does nothing if it’s not worn correctly.To their credit there are hand sanitizer stations (that are full of sanitizer) located around the gym and paper towels that you can wipe machines down with. Given the number of people that cannot follow the policy and a lack of employees enforcing the mask policy, I cut my workout short and likely will not be returning unless they can figure out a better way to keep their facility and patrons safe.

First day there. I will be honest and give you 5 stars, but please, let someone do the travel path. Bathrooms and shower rooms so dirty?!So, keep it nice.Gave them a chance but nothing changed. Terrible location, dirty and it needs a leader to run it.I paid 2 months plus fees, went twice and cancelled it.

Not my favorite LA Fitness, its a little dated and cramped compared to many of the others Ive been to and Ive easily been to over 100 all over the country.The area with machines was fine, but the free weight area wasnt as nice and filled with muscle heads.

Place is getting worse by the day. Machines and facilities (lockers, carpeting, elliptical machines) old and worn out. Today at 10:30 AM I politely told front desk personnel (3 girls) of a broken elliptical machine. They looked at me like I disturbed their conversation and one told me that club personnel go around and test equipment and when they find one they put a ticket on it and fix it. I offered to give them the machine number, and another one said well we need the bar code as well, I told them I dont have the bar code. She repeated that it would get fixed in their regular inspection intervals, and I told them I dont know what type of interval they are on because the machine has been frozen for about a week now and there is no ticket posted on it, so I repeatedly saw people getting ready to use the machine only to discover it was frozen when they tried to use it. She asked me was the machine in the back upstairs (they are all in the back upstairs) and when I told her yes, she said OK it will get fixed. This is the 4th elliptical I have had to notify them of in the past 2 months, and I have experienced this type of non-caring treatment before. Seems like 6 or 7 machines have tickets on them continuously for the last two months and the repairs are very slow. I have been a member there for 4 years and I see the place getting worse.After today, my family will not be renewing our memberships again.

I signed up here 10 years ago when the place first opened and am still currently a member. I have been very satisfied for the price I have a been paying. There are tons of machines all relatively new and working well. Once in a while you have a broken machine which is normal due to wear but it gets fixed very quickly. It has tons of free weights as well as plenty of cardio machines both on the first floor and second floor. It has an Olympic size swimming pool and a very large hot tub. It also has a sauna as well as showers that each have separate stalls and a curtain for each stall for privacy. It is very clean and well-maintained. There are also many different classes you can take for free. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. I am very satisfied and would HIGHLY recommend this place.- Mike C.781-***-*889

The facility is nice but many of the machines are often not working and some there are simply not enough of, so I have to be super strategic about what time I go to actually get a full workout.Added later: they charge $120 per hour for personal trainers who have ZERO knowledge about fitness or health. I tried all of their trainers except for the one older guy, who I didnt want to work with because of his offputting demeanor.

The sauna has not been working for 2 weeks on the top floor of 10 elliptical machines, 6 have been malfunctioning and rusty for more than one year. Always bathe with broken tiles. I think managers and supervisors should look at all this, many people are going away and this is not good for a structure like this. Put people who are competent to manage the business ...... WHEN YOU ADD THE SAUNA, STEAM ROOM ?????????? WHEN YOU REPAIR THE ELLIPTCAL MACHINE ON THE 1ST FLOOR ???? WE WANT ANSWERS, WE PAY MONTHLY AND YOU MUST KEEP EVERYTHING PERFECT IN RESPECT OF ALL THE PEOPLE WHO PAY MONTH ......

The trainers are young kids with little knowledge and no experience. LA fitness charges $120 PER HOUR for something I could have gotten more out of if I watched it on YouTube for free.

I signed up because its close to where I live and I wanted to try their yoga classes and pool. I tried 3 yoga classes which were okay and I tried the pool which was disgusting. Normally a pool leaves you smelling like chlorine but this one didnt. It left me feeling gross and like I just swam in an unclean pool. And not a scent of chlorine around.I wish I tried the 2 week pass instead of signing up for a membership. After calling, they wont refund my money even though I went there 4 times to try it out. 3 different yoga classes and 1 swim.Additionally, its like a total judgement and creep zone. I was stared at a lot by (mostly male) members and all I did was walk through the facility to a yoga class. I didnt even use the machines.Too bad they wont give me my money back. Customer service reached out to the VP in our area who refused to refund it.Thanks a lot guys...

Hector Green at the Saugus location is an amazing personal trainer! He is extremely knowledgeable, very enthusiastic and keeps me on my toes. Each session is something new and he continues to incorporate new routines and exercises to help me push towards my goals. He puts me through the best workouts I’ve ever had and I always leave the gym feeling great. If you are a current member or looking to join, I highly recommend Hector!! Give him a chance, you will not be disappointed!

I used LA fitness for years and Im getting more disappointed every single year. Their restrooms and sauna is never clean and most of the time at least 3 treadmills would have scheduled service notification for weeks. The rest of the workout machines are also falling apart. Since I started using this fitness which is almost 8 years ago a lot changed but not much is invested to make improvements. Upper management needs to step up and start focusing on making adjustments in order to increase customer satisfaction.

The gym is nice, the people great, the stuff amazing.A minus I think is the temperature in the jacuzzi and in the sauna.

The instructors here have great styles and you get lots of great exercise, form instruction and weight ranges. The place is also clean and spacious unlike the other gyms which tend to be crowded!

The place is very clean and spacious with a huge variety of equipment and classes,but unfortunately my wife went there with a friend which always workout with us and he was teaching her some different exercises and two staff members approached and talking loud on front of everybody saying he was training my wife and they keep saying the same thing over and over. My wife try to explain that was the first day at the gym and he knew the machines better them her, but they didnt care, after that one of the staff members stays close just to check if my wife was getting training by my friend.Next time, ask to talk after you done with your workout and then maybe mention about what you having seen and maybe offer a personal trainner but dont be a jerk.

A great gymnasium with most of modern day equipments. It has a good range of classes for people who are interested in daily workout sessions with an instructor.

My boyfriend and I originally had a poor experience with this gym and some of the staff, including the person we originally spoke to to sign up. She was pushy and unfriendly, only in it for the sale. After this, we weren’t coming in very often and wanted to cancel our membership. The original person we spoke to gave us a hard time. The manger overheard and came to help. If you decide to join this gym, or have any issues, speak with the manager, Gilson. He is friendly and helpful. I came back to renew as I wanted to use the pool and he was able to help me get what I needed without starting completely over from scratch with initiation fees. Wonderful customer service. The first missing star is due to the gym having lots of missing free weights and being slow to fix equipment. The locker rooms aren’t very clean and smell a bit like mildew. It can also get incredibly crowded. The second is for the poor experience I originally had with the sales/membership staff. The pool however, and the service second try are great!

I felt cheated by coming here. I am overweight and could really use help, but I dont have alot of money. I was told false things like if I go out of town my money will be on hold. They still took my money and Im in the negative and I dont have much money for my trip. LA fitness refused to fix my mistake. I cant recommend this plave to anyone. This is just my experience. I will be fighting to get a full refund.

Lots of options for equipment and large, open floor plan. Clientele is interesting depending on what time of day you go. I wish they opened earlier than 8 am on the weekends.

Great atmosphere, great staff, great equipment!!!! I love the environment at LA Fitness!!!! I get the best workout here, the way they set up their gym is perfect for getting your workout in and going on with your day! And they have a great personal training staff to help you get in shape!

Very helpful when I went in to register for my insurance pre-paid membership.

I have been a member here for 3 years but i probably wont be here much longer.I joined this gym because there wasnt any other option nearby which gave workout classes. The class schedule here is woefully inadequate.Most of the decent classes and instructors are at times when people are at work or commuting. Eg zumba at 8:30am and step at 5:45pm.I am not sure who these folks are catering to but I dont think it is working people. I guess they get away with it because there is no competition nearby.This location needs to have some decent early morning classes, I am sure there is a demand for it. I recently started going to another gym and there are many people in the 5:30am classes. Unfortunately this new gym is 30 minutes from where I live so I might have to keep looking for other options

This is an ok gym for the most part, but the downside is its filthy so much of the time, the shower stalls are filthy and reeks of piss. a lot of equipment is broken down, there are 3 diff same machines which its cables were taken off, wondering how long the management will take to either replace this equipment with a better one or they will keep us all year from using them???, Do the big guys get to read this, do they have any management looking into this gym ???this gym needs good management and people to spruce things up.

They need to take care about the cleaning (specially the swimming pool), other than this everything are great.I dont like to see naked people around the closet area. We are not an animals!! We area a Human.I hope if they put a billiard pool somewhere. I know its not for gym but I do enjoy with it, and I think others too, and they do have space for it. Great place, you can find almost everything to workout, and the classes are excelent

This is a nice gym for the most part, but the downside is its crowded so much of the time. A lot of people here have friends who they workout with, which isnt a bad thing, it just leads to a lot of standing around and chatting. There are the people with zero respect for the equipment/cables, and will constantly slam or misuse them, so you will see broken or misused equipment here and there.For the most part its well maintained and has nice amenities, but if the majority of your training consists of weightlifting, or your preferred gym time is between 3-9pm, you should try to look elsewhere. There is almost zero natural light in the majority of the gym, which makes the place feel more cramped. Not sure why they couldnt have just put windows in different areas or have a nice skylight.
