Three panel euro wall door installed just over one year ago. Handle and locking mechanism failed two weeks ago. The door will not open from the inside or lock. But it will open from the outside. Obviously a safety concern.I called in a warranty repair. 5 days for the first call back. They said it was not covered under warranty, they do installation, not repair, and referred me to the manufacturer, who says they do installs mainly and it might be weeks or months before they can get to me. Blew me off too.Good looking doors. Great installation. But they do not stand behind the product and essentially blow you off when the product fails.Exasperated, I asked who I could call to pay to repair this type of door. They said they will call be back. Still waiting.

Universal initially installed all of the windows in our house. Unfortunately, we had a stile on our sliding glass door fail three years later. We contacted them for assistance that night as the door was no longer secure or sealing. They were out within 48 hours to repair everything. We have been incredibly impressed with the responsiveness, professionalism, and thoroughness in which Universal handled our situation. We will definitely be using this business for all of our future window needs.

I worked with Universal as my window/door installation vendor at a prior home builder who I no longer work for. They were always solid, showed up on time and provided a quality product. Sean Jones, my project manager at Universal, is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE field supervisors out of the hundreds I’ve worked with throughout my career. This guy knows his stuff and consistently, 100% of the time, went above and beyond to help move mountains to ensure we stayed on schedule without compromising on quality. Unfortunately, I don’t work with Sean directly anymore, but I still reach out to him regularly for advice. And he ANSWERS! I’ve run into a few really challenging situations on custom window/door designs in my new position and I immediately sought him out for his expertise over anyone else. He has no obligation to help me as we no longer directly work together, but he does it anyway. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate Sean, his willingness to help me and to share his tricks and tips. He makes UWS look REALLY good! Sean is a true asset to this company. Any builder who is lucky enough to have Sean assigned to their communities/jobs is luckier than they’ll ever know. He is an absolute rock star and one of the reasons why I’d recommend Universal to anyone and everyone I know.

Have been attempting to get my screens several times. Twice they were delivered broken. They dont respond to your issues and have poor customer service. I built a custom home and would never use Universal Windows again. Its been almost 6 months.

The staff is amazing! Very happy with the service and installation of my two new bottom window panes. Claire & her service team were very professional and did a neat and tidy job. I hope I do not experience any more seal failure but if I do I know who to call!

I had a very strange issue with 8 year old windows and she has helped me with the manufacturer, an installer, and has basically hung with me through the whole process. I received 3 estimates for my house and finally chose universal. I’m so glad I did. They have great reviews and I know why. Sherry contacted me to schedule my install and it went exactly how she said. She made me feel comfortable with all the questions I had about the install. The rep was awesome but the behind the scene is what matters. Definitely deal with sherry as she actually calls customers back and is extremely helpful during the whole process.

Universal window solutions has always provided great service. Claribel in the office is quick to respond and to help sending out technicians to resolve any issues that I may have. Dave Barker is an excellent field supervisor always willing to help in any way he can and is very knowledgeable in his products which is helpful to quickly take care of any problems or answer any questions I may have.

I recently had an issue with my door and a window. The field manager Bobby and the service team were very helpful upon their arrival. They made sure that everything was taken care of and that I was completely satisfied before leaving. Run! Universal does not stand behind their product. Almost all windows in my home (and most homes in my development) window seals are compromised and the windows fill with condensation. They will warranty the glass but not the installation. What? You’ll give me the glass and then I have to pay AGAIN to have windows installed in my home? Where is the logic? You give an inferior product, you replace it. When I spoke with Kim at the office she said it is not their fault, it is their glass supplier. Well, if you choose a inferior supplier then it is your responsibility to fix the problem. Absolutely the cheapest product provided by a company that doesn’t stand by their product. Run! There are plenty of other window companies that provide quality products AND stand by them.

Terrible experience. Very poor at returning phone calls/email. Replaced windows and they leaked afterwards. After multiple efforts to contact them, they came out to look at the window and declared the problem was above the window. When asked why the window was put in if the frame (or whatever) was problematic; no answer. I would have been more than willing to have any construction defects corrected prior to having the window put in. None were identified. I asked if they would come out, discover and fix the underlying problem, the answer: we dont remediate.I cannot recommend this business. Look elsewhere.

In my opinion I would not recommend them. After waiting 12 weeks for sliders they were ordered backwards. Now Im waiting another 6 weeks for replacements. I called three different times and visited the showroom twice to check on my order and they said everything was fine and on schedule. Not so!

The aquarium windows were horrid with ripples all through the windows.The sliding doors allowed significant water intrusion during rainstorms.When we called Universal they were unresponsive, could not be bothered with us & told us there is no guarantee on how windows or doors will come out.Totally unprofessional, extremely poor product, poor workmanship on the part of the installers and no customer service.Recommend steering clear of this company.

I had a really bad experience with these guys. They screwed up stuff from the beginning and never took responsibility. Then when I told them I wasn’t happy the owner threaten me to watch what I say on social media.For instance I was told they wanted to work, and will work on Saturday because they were way behind schedule. I took off of work to stay home. Then last minute, they cancelled and can’t work Saturday. I had already taken off work, very annoying.They ordered 4 large windows that don’t open at all. Who would want that? We specified all windows to open and have screens. They never took responsibility for the wrong windows, they just took them back and left us with 4 windows still needing to be replaced. Totally unprofessional.They also screwed up our permitting. Almost every aspect of getting windows installed was a headache. I wanted a good company that cared about what they were doing. I spent over 15k with them and wish I hadn’t. Save your money and time. You’re welcome.

I contracted this company to replace only four windows in my home and not the other ten windows. Fortunately, this was a good move as I found their services to be poor and unacceptable and would never do business with them again.After the install, I contacted the company to tell them that I was not happy with the installer and his sloppy caulking and poor attitude. The company said that they would make it right and they wanted to send the original installer back to redeem himself. I declined his services, for obvious reasons, and had to wait a month for another installer to come out and correct the mistakes. During this period, I made numerous calls to the company to find out the status and scheduling of the repairs, and no one ever returned my calls. I was not consulted on any further scheduling on my job, everything was scheduled to the convenience of the company and not me. I also had to wait two weeks after the final inspection to have my windows cleaned. The job took SIX weeks to complete which was very frustrating and stressful.Customer service by this company was non-existent and I never received a call from anyone in the company after the original install. I did receive an email from the company VP but not to apologize or ask if she could make things right, but to tell me when the job would be finished. It was all about the company and their scheduling with no consideration for the customer. Once they received their money upfront they were in charge and that was it.Sorry, I contracted with this company but it least I limited my exposure. I would be careful doing any business with this company....Tom G.

We have been using UWS for ten years and are consistently pleased with the service and products they provide us but more importantly can’t say enough about the post sales support our clients receive from Bob, Rocky and his team. Service and warranty are key to keeping our clients happy.

I had a sliding glass door to loose its seal and they replaced it under warranty with very minimal hassle. I would recommend them.

Installation went well. We liked the workers and installation has held up. Beware of future service needs. Have had issues with hardware. The parts are covered, but not the labor after initial warranty is up, which I would expect. What bothers me is that after spending $62,000 with this company and making every payment when requested, they insist on payment when you request service, run your card and make next available appointments in a week or two. The first visit to assess our most recent repair need was on 2/6/15. The technician was here for 10 minutes and we were charged $110. We just today, 2/18/15, 12 days later, got a call to make an appointment for the repairs. They again insisted on running our card. This time for half up front and the half upon completion for a total of $150. I guess they think we will skip town on them! The soonest they can come do the repairs is March 9th, over a month after out first prepaid visit. They were sure nice enough when we were signing up for their services and doling out large sums of cash. I have never had to prepay for any repair job - plumbers, pools, electricians etc., and these are people I did good business with. I find it insulting and shameful.

Terrible experience!Awful communication as soon as they got our deposit. It took 3 months after order was put in to get on their schedule. They had issues with permitting at the city, turning in expired paperwork. They ordered 4 wrong windows and told us we signed for them, keep in mind a sales man for their company came out and wrote up the order.They were rude, unresponsive, and actually threatened me to watch what I say on social media and to put a lien on my property.After speaking with my lawyer and many conversations with the owner, Rocky, it ended with them taking the fee for the wrong windows and installation of them off, but now we still have 4 old windows needing to be replaced which is extremely inconvenient.Im currently pregnant and was having morning sickness through all of this and the installation kept getting held up and rescheduled, always early in the morning.There was confusion with getting our final inspection with the city, which they kept calling the county, so maybe that was the problem? Either way, I called the city myself and after a whole afternoon of explaining why the contractor wasnt doing this, someone came right away to inspect.I put in over 10 hours and 50 emails with their company and the city trying to get my windows done. Then they tried to overcharge us $500 on our final payment. Unbelievable! I have all of my emails and encounters saved for anyone who needs to see it to believe it. I was sure wed end up in court.

My initial experience with this company was very positive in dealing with Gary Goetz; he was very informative, helpful, and kept his word throughout the initial part answering all my questions and quickly returning phone calls.We ran into a problem with the slider manufacture, CGI, back ordering the product and splitting the installation between two weeks. Dave and his team did a really good job installing all the hurricane windows. The following week Kyle and his guy installed the sliders, but had trouble taking out the old frame. They persevered, however, and even though it cost me more money, the problems were resolved.Most outstanding was the project manager, Dave Barker, whose perseverance got the ball across the goal line at the end. Through it all, was the great understanding and support of Bobby Barnes, the customer service manager, who pulled it all together with his great team.I would highly recommend this company, if you want hurricane windows or doors.

Two years ago, I purchased Centor Retractable screens from UWS. The screens were installed on two large sliding door units. My investment was close to $12,000. The smaller unit has worked fine since installation. The larger unit worked for a couple of months. Then it jammed. It took four months for UWS to diagnose and correct the problem. Then it lasted a few more months before jamming again. UWS blamed it on Centor and eventually said they no longer serviced the Centor product. Centor says UWS is obligated to service the products they sell. Curiously, my UWS rep, Gary Goetz, wrote the 5 star review of UWS above. All very expensive and disappointing.

I have not had my appointment yet!

I recently completed my second project with Universal Windows and continue to be very impressed with the entire company from management down to the installation crews. I would strongly recommend this company.

The truck driver for this company nearly took out a huge branch on our 100+ year old live oak tree today, September 12. I have no idea of products or service but the drivers attitude was not cooperative when confronted.
