Amazing service. Rare find in today’s world. Have had 3 computers worked on so far and know that I’m in good hands now.
Christopher is wonderful. I purchased a used MacBook Pro that was not reset properly. Christopher was able to fix it in less than a day. Im very happy to have found someone I can rely on if I have any more issues. But I dont anticipate that happening.
I brought in my older Macbook Air for repair. The computer was fully functional but the screen backlight didnt work. I asked if it might be the logic board. Chris told me, no, I needed a new screen. And the repair was $299.And that diagnosis was free.I agreed to have the screen replaced. When I didnt hear from him for a week or so I called. He told me on the phone the problem wasnt with the screen but the logic board and that was too expensive and not worth fixing,I told him not to bother and that I might then consider using the Mac with an with external monitor as it was still fully functional. He told me he would then have to charge me an hours labor to put to back together.Ive included a pic of how th laptop was returned to meSo he misdiagnosed the problem and then proceeded to take it apart., He didnt repair the laptop and then gave it back to me in pieces. It is now now completely useless. Just like him.On top of that he is not friendly nor welcoming and, as others have pointed out, arrogant and dismissive.
The screen on my work Mac stopped working on a Tuesday night. I was able to book an appointment online with Mac Rx Wednesday morning (the Apple store didnt have any available appointments until Saturday). As soon as I opened my laptop, Chris diagnosed the problem -- the display had gone bad.Though some luck was involved, I had my laptop back a few hours later and paid much less for the repair than what Apple would have charged me.Im happy with my experience and recommend Mac Rx for Mac computer repairs.
I inherited a Mac that I wanted to donate but since I hadnt turned in on in 9 months I couldnt get it to work. I brought it in the morning and was given a very reasonable quote for repairing it. I picked it up that afternoon and have already donated it. Great experience.
I just picked up my Mac and had a wonderful experience. Chris was incredibly professional. I called before going to schedule a time to drop off my computer. Chris has a procedure setup in order to make the interactions safer - something I definitely appreciate. There is a table outside to place your computer, I saw him wear gloves and he was of course wearing a mask. My computer was fixed quickly and he worked with Apple to ensure my issue was covered. Very glad there is a place open in Sarasota given everything that is going on. Highly recommend!
My computer broke last Thursday and I was in a rush to get it fixed, since I am doing online school. Whereas Computer Advantage said it would taken AT LEAST 10 days for my Macbook to even be LOOKED at, Mac Rx responded to my phone call quickly (keep in mind I called past their closing time) and I was able to drop of my computer the Friday after. Now, only 5 days later, my computer is completing fixed—that’s half the time it would’ve taken for Computer Advantage to even examine my Macbook! Great service and extremely safe procedures for COVID-19. If you need your technology fixed, go to Mac Rx.
Amazing customer service. Highly recommend.
Chris is a consummate Professional and is very dependable as well as courteous. I brought my iMac in due to a video problem (my screen kept blanking out) which could have been hardware related - but Chris reinstalled my OS (Catalina) and it solved the problem. Other places could have told me it was a hardware problem which would have cost more to replace and repair.BTW - he was highly recommended by Apple when I first called them to see if they could fix the problem - and they told me it was more than likely a hardware problem!I also highly recommend Mac RX and would refer my friends and associates to him if they have any problems with their iMacs!Great job, Chris! Thanks!Paul S WaxSarasota, Fl
This was a completely negative experience and I will not return or refer anyone to this location for service. I was referred to this location as a result from the Mac store in Tampa being currently closed. I traveled from Tampa off their referral and the man who is working this location was rude, wants no interaction with the customer and wouldn’t listen to issues that I was bringing it in for. He had no interest in explaining to me what was necessary and my options. Very rude, and completely unprofessional with a big zero in customer service. I will be calling Mac to report this store and my experience as an Apple owner. The guy working this location would be better off working behind a closed door with no personal interaction. After leaving my computer because of having no other options at that time, he told me he would transfer my documents to my other computer but didn’t give me time to go over the specs of my other computer. Since he purposely chose to not offer any help, he had to call me after I left to let me know their wasn’t enough storage and tied me to purchasing his external hard drive. I would have been happy to leave the one I already owned if he had just given me 5 minutes of adequate customer service. Therefore I ended up with an additional $89 to my cost. He is obviously terrified by Covid and if that is the case then he should stay at home and not put himself in a position where he has to work with the public. Along with his mask he wears gloves that I think are meant to be used for venomous snake handling. He won’t open the door and won’t get near your car or take the pen that you use to sign. I get it if he is scared but he needs to make a decision to get someone that can handle customer service during these times or just close until he feels more comfortable.
This store is AMAZING!! They fixed my computer so fast! And I can play my favorite game! I recommend this store 100% and everyone is so nice :))
This guy did not listen to people. I took my Mac air to him referred by Apple. Extremely negative experience. and rude. He replaced my Mac Air battery, and he did not run any diagnostics in the computer. so it was a bad logic circuit? After 3 trips to this place, he was more worried about Covid measures and not an effective and professional service. His solution was: i will refund you the money and you keep the battery! Fundamentals, this guy will be reported to Apple and BBB.Stay away from this place!!!
Ive taken both my Macbook Pros in over the years. Great service & super efficient. I would highly recommend.
Great experience with Chris. He’s quick and communicative. Thank you!!
Provided outstanding support and insight on Apple products, would definitely recommend these guys.
Very safe procedures for the virus, with prompt, efficient service and good communication.
Thank you Chris for helpful advice over the phone after hours. 💪🏾😷
I had my MacBook from 2010 upgraded with a new solid-state drive. The owner of Mac Rx did it very quickly and efficiently and was able to transfer all my data to the new hard drive. Now my old MacBook is 10 times faster than the before. Another great feature of this gentleman is that he always answers the phone even after hours. He also recommended where I could get a new battery.
Fast service and perfect results!
Spoke to the owner 3 times never once asked me if I had Windows. I find this after I go to drop it off. He then recommends another repair person, I called them from his place where I was told I would get a return call which I never did. I like supporting small businesses but..
Went to the Apple Store they couldn’t help me as my need was immediate and recommended I go to Chris at Mac RX. He was most helpful and told me he would have my computer fixed the following day and he came through with flying colors. I would highly recommend him and would definitely use him again
Ive met and did business with Chris at MacRx several times. He is your guy as it comes to repairing your Apple computer, he know what he is doing, he repairs computers efficiently.I would not count on him to do chit chat or go to the bar to have a bear. I guess he has his own circle of friends and not necessary among his customers. Professional.
Kris is great. Dropped my MacBook and the screen went dead. Other places wanted $1000 to replace the screen, Kris popped the laptop open and found that a connector inside needed to be re-seated.. boom good to go, $42 out the door. This place is busy for a reason!
Chris has always taken very good care of my Mac needs. Ive had a bit of trouble with one of my machines and he has been excellent in his ability to get the problem fixed. I highly recommend him over the Apple Store for repairs or other Mac problems.
Chris did a great job with my macbook pro. When it looked like it was gonna have to be sent out to Apple for a $600 fix, he kept working on it and get it working for only $80. I will go back to him if i have any more issues with my mac!
My iMacs screen kept turning itself off, Mac Rx knew exactly what was wrong with it and fixed it in short order. I feel confident bringing my sons Mac mini there for upgrades. I hope more Mac users discover his professionalism, knowledge and friendly service!
I have have purchased computers, and gotten service from MAC RX for five years. The owner, Chris Rively is a consummate professional with an encyclopedic knowledge of computer technology. Knowledgeable about all MAC products, he accurately and quickly identifies the problem, and offers options. Fast and Dependable service, very affordable. If you have a problem with your MAC, this is the guy to take it to.
Unpleasant arrogant person who doesnt listen or help.......unless youre paying. He wants to charge for things that Apple will do for free if you go to the store at UTC. Waste of time. Definitely not Apple quality.
Took my 2011 iMac 27 in since it seemed to have hardware issues. Chris was not able to repair my computer, but came up with a very creative workaround that left me with a functional system. Im very happy with the service offered and will return next time I run into an Apple hardware issue.
I had a major iMac meltdown during deadline and Chris came to my rescue. He had my computer diagnosed while I waited, found the problem, ordered the replacement part, and had my computer ready for me the next day. Deadline saved. Very happy with Chris and Mac Rx.
Huge help. Fast service. Knows his stuff
Needed a new battery for my IPHONE 6plusTook only 10 minutes. Great speedy service!
Ive had problems with several MacBooks and Christoper has always been quick at diagnosing and solving the issues. Cost is always reasonable...repair is fast.
Chris is knowledgeable and always a fast turn around. Highly recommend
When I read all of the negative reviews here I was skeptical about using this company, but I found Chris to be very professional and he completed my warranty repair within the time frame that he gave me. I would definitely recommend him, and if the need arises I would use him again.
Great service great prices very knowledgeable
I contacted Apple through an On-line APPLE chat and that tech representative couldnt offer help but gave me the number of a Sarasota, Florida authorized service provider. Chris, on Fruitville Road near Honore suggested I bring in my IMAC and said hed look at it for free and diagnose my issue was that it was running INCREDIBLY SLOW. Other tech people suggested I might replace hard drive and some said with a Solid State drive). Others said replacement wouldnt fix problem and is expensive but I might consider an upgrade to newest iMac or even one with a Fusion drive, which is part Solid State.Chris plugged in my iMac and quickly noticed I had a lot of MALWARE - which actually I brought upon myself by accepting Adobe Flash and continually upgrading Flash - this was the culprit. He said with an apple product WE DONT NEED ADOBE FLASH and Apple has its own built in way of allowing for watching videos. Its just another way of adding Malware to your computer. Also I had Kasperky on my computer though never use it and he removed that as its something Best Buy adds to their computers as they get a kickback but APPLE USERS DONT NEED THIS. Chris cleaned up my issues in less than an hour and I was charged a very reasonable fee of $63 and change. Hes Honest and quick and will tell you your problem with a free estimate. My computer is now Very fast once again and Im thrilled. Thank you Chris!
Excellent work! The guy knows his stuff.
Very knowledgeable quick work explains everything
Excellent service, fast and courteous, I will take my computer there for any needed service.
EXTREMELY helpful on the phone, taking my Mac in next week!
Ill agree with rude. I was explaining the steps I took in diagnosising the problem and was cut short with thats nothing I need to know. One should always be polite to paying customers.
When I walked in to this one-man place I first was not sure if I was in the right place. The man was a bit stressed out and obviously wished me gone.He halfhardedly looked at my Kenel Panic MacBook and couldnt or didnt want to make sense of it.To me the problem had lamed my business for almost a week. I was desperate for help. After being ignored for a quarter of an hourI eventually got the message and left the one-man repair shop. There was no charge for that 15 min of time.If you are looking for serious help, go to Computer Advantage on Tamiami, just north of Sarasota Airport. They are the real pros for Mac. Better then Apple Store. Got my complex problrm fixed there.
Chris Rively did a great job fixing my iMac. The job was finished precisely at the time he promised and the whole repair process, including ordering a part from Apple, took a little more than 24 hours.I see some comments from other posts re Chriss social skills. I know one thing for certain. He is very knowledgable about Apple products and diagnoses problems quickly. He must be very efficient with Apple repairs as I get his name from Apple technical support.Frankly, my priority is to get the job done right and on time. I would recommend Mac Rx to my friends as well as use him again as my first experience was flawless.
Let me preface my experience by saying that there is an Apple store at the new mall @5 minutes away--there is no reason to bring your Mac to this gentleman for repair.Id noticed that my lapper was getting particularly hot and that my iPhone was not making connection with it through the USB ports, so I took it in to this place for diagnosis. He told me right off without doing any tests that the board must be cracked and it would be sent out to Apple for a flat $400 repair fee. As I hadnt been anticipating having it sent out, I told him Id have to bring it home and back up my files first, but he assured me it wasnt necessary; that they wouldnt have any reason to touch the memory.Guess what happened?Yup...my MacBook Pro came back formatted, and everything was lost. Not to worry, said Christopher (owner), because he can retrieve the erased files for a mere $300. He came down on his price to $100 after I pointed out that I wouldnt have lost the files if he hadnt TALKED ME OUT OF BACKING IT UP in the first place. About 25% of my photos were non-recoverable.Conveying the story to my computer-savvy friends, they strongly advised me to call Apple and relay the story to them. Upon calling I was quickly transferred to a supervisor, and while I hadnt even asked for anything, she offered me a generous Apple store voucher to make up for the shoddy service.I soon noticed that my Mac wasnt running any cooler and that my phone still failed to connect, so I did what I should have done right off: I brought it to the Apple store. It turns out that my MacBook Pro is running hotter than it did in 2010 because of the new OS, and that its completely fine. The issue about the iPhone not connecting was due to the misfortune of both my cables going bad at around the same time. To sum up: Nothing was wrong with my laptop to begin with.Learn from my mistake and do not take your Apple product to this place for any reason.
While working a few days ago my lifeline iMac disappeared away to the gray screen of death and after several reboot attempts I thought for SURE my computer and/or HD was fried. I called the 2 closest Apple Stores right away and neither could get me in until next week, so I found Mac rx and got in first thing the next morning. Chris was extremely polite, knowledgeable, efficient, and diagnosed and solved the problem for me before I wouldve even been able to get an appointment at the main Apple store. Im now able to type this on my repaired iMac. Hes good, take your mac here if you have a problem.
Terrible! Dont bring your computer here!! The owner/operator is RUDE, He had my computer two different times for a week, told me both times it was fixed, charged me and it still doesnt work. He doesnt check his work to make sure the problem is fixed. He even hung up on me twice and my husband twice! Who does that?Do yourself a favor and go someplace else.
When I needed him most, Chris was able to fix my Macbook when Apple didnt have the time to. Chris is a very nice gentleman and he can fix pretty much anything Apple related. I recommend going to see Chris instead of the Apple genius bar in the UTC Mall. This past christmas my 3 year old laptops RAM mechanism inside was faulty. This was not good because winter break was almost over and I needed my laptop for my academics. I attempted to book a genius bar appointment at the UTC Mall and the only appointment was a week from that day. So then I just called Chris and he told me to come on down and he fixed it for me :) Go and see him ! He is a great Apple representative.
I had an issue with my MacBook Pro that Apple was unable to fix as my laptop was too old for them to fix. 9-4 are impossible hours for working people. I called several times and left a message with no return call.
He rip apart a hard drive usb to put in my my mbp . Now its spinning .And my dvd drive doesnt work any more . Not working . I needed memory I wanted 16 g I only have 8 g Well I needed 16g Because I work on line and need to take care of my clients remotely 8 g doesnt cut it .500$ later Im screwed . With a broken spinning hd .Also my dvd player s broken after he worked on it ?. Although im just a local business owner and it didnt mater to mac rx .He thought the cheapest way out was the best way out 500$ To a local computer company . Thats a rip off should of went to tampa or miami .Im just disgusted .After sending him many clients .What a joke period .
Great service
