It seems to be the hardest thing for me to find a good hair stylist/barber that can do a good job with my hair. But this place was great the lady was very nice,very clean and beautiful! and can tell she cares about her business and her customers. Ill definitely be back again!😊

First off. If you are using the name straight edge, you should know how to do a straight edge. I had to explain my haircut and I never had explain A fade before. I been having my hair only cut by the best in town and for my first haircut in Sarasota I can say I wont be back to this barber shop. The lady who was from NY York should not talk about how someone else homeland is poor and feel sorry for them in 2016 and ask meif we had schools there.... WHAT!!!. I will not be back.

I wouldnt dream of going anywhere else for my hair needs. Janice is not only the most talented barber in Sarasota but also the friendliest and most polite lady one could hope to encounter. I have never had a less than perfect experience and would reccomend Straight Edge Barbershop and Salon to anyone who is looking for a world class hair cut at an incredibly reasonable price!

Great salon and Janice the owner definitely knows what she is doing! I went through Chemotherapy and lost all my hair..its coming back really curly and she knew exactly how to make it look feminine.

This is my favorite place to get a haircut, but lately its been really unreliable. The haircut looks good, the price is right; and the location is across the street from my office. The only negative thing is I never know when or if theyre going to be open. Out of the last 10-15 times Ive walked across the street to get a hair-cut in the last three months during their normally marked business hours, only once has Janice been there. The rest of the time the storefront has either had a closed sign or Ive walked in and immediately been told Janice isnt here. This is extremely frustrating, and Ill probably be looking for another barbershop soon. Last time I successfully had a hair cut, I asked Janice about this and she seemed confused I didnt find her there. However, the barbershop being closed seems to be a more and more frequent occurrence.

Highly recommend this place! I recently moved to Sarasota from the Midwest and finding the proper barber is always difficult(was going to the same person for 7 years). Great atmosphere, the staff is super friendly and the owner(my barber), shes fantastic. Also has a cute lil doggie named rebel hehe.

Decided to try a new barber out. Arrived at 845 am sat until 920am and it was still not open when the sign says 9am it opens havent got a cut here before but wouldnt recommend due to the fact that its not open when it says it is open. Seems like really poor customer service. I watched at least 3 other people walk up and tryed to go in. Even tryed to call to see if i can get more info but no answer. If perhaps the opening times change recently they need to update it on google and change the stickers on there front window. This was on June 29th 2017. Might try them again at a later date but until then im leaving this a 1 star.

Giving the place two stars considering we are in Sarasota -- if this were New York, San Fran, etc., it would be a single star.The two stars is because Janice has the skills to do a good haircut, and if all other factors where good, shed get 4 or 5 stars.The downgrade is because the first haircut when she cared to impress a new customer was the best and all downhill from there: after 3rd or 4th attempt I had to point out what still had to be done, get her to follow basic practices (like wash dirty hair that doest fall naturally before she cuts or there is no way to inspect the result...), and remind her to wash at all...Final straw was showing up to two appointments with her not there; no message, no return calls, no nothing. Last time foreign lady in shop screeched at me that Janice didnt come in that day (i.e. - I shouldnt bug her...some combination of not caring a hoot about customers and tired of people showing up and asking why the person who was to cut their hair wasnt there). Story was that Janice was out sick, which, unless she was under sedation in intensive care, would have still allowed texts or calls to customers with appointments, a sign on the shop door, or at least a voicemail greeting apologizing... Nada.My time is valuable, and I would never do that to someone, a paying customer or not.As I said, she has the skills, just absent professionalism and doing her best every time in exchange for taking your money (i.e. typical Sarasota sloppiness...).If you know what you want and dont mind flakey appointments and doing the quality control yourself, she is capable of giving a good cut.
