My wife and I live a few blocks from this location in Santa Monica and the staff here has been great with everything. Professional and helpful with everything. Sure, they arent open the same hours or have the same amount of cars that the LAX Airport has, but the convenience of a neighborhood location outweighs both of those items for us. We love being able to walk a few blocks to pick up a car and they always have at least one or two cars from each category which is fine.Again, weve had great experiences here at this Hertz in Santa Monica and will continue to rent here...great job!JJ Ullrich

After reserving a rental car and receiving confirmation, I went to Hertz Santa Monica to pick up the car only to hear that they cancelled my reservation because they had no cars left on the lot. The woman behind the counter insisted on they never received my reservation request until I told her that I had already got the confirmation number. Then she said that was an automatic computer response, nothing to do with them. When I asked her why they did not bother to notify me about the cancellation by phone. She just stared at me and said she could see why I was upset but nothing she could do for me. And, true to her word, she did not make even the slightest attempt to help. If anyone from Hertz interested in installing more professional conduct, my confirmation # was J 74822000 F4.Stay away from this place at all cost.

If I could give them no stars I would. I received the car halfway full and I always return my car exactly how I received them. So I turned it in halfway full and Im Overcharged nearly 100 because they said it was given to me full. I knew I should of took a picture but I trusted them entirely too much. Now, I would never decide to pay $100 versus putting extra $20 of gas. We are struggling through a pandemic but of course corporate companies like these want to overcharge you for any and everything. I am disappointed in the incompetence of the employees here and the lack of attention to detail. If I did receive it full I would have no problem returning it fool, that is what your suppose to do. What I have problems with is being overcharged for what I didnt do.

Double terrible experience. I reserved a luxury sport(Camaro SS)car to be used for 24hs by phone just to arrive there and being given a cheaper class one.(Also to add when I was doing the paperworks the lasy fat black guy started mocking me because of my english, for REAL?) They said they where sorry and that they would search for one and call me to make the swap. They never called so I search myself in their page, took the phone explained everything and made a reservation for the next day for the category I wanted.Next day I arrive, leave the car in returns, make the paperwork, go outside and when they bring the new car... it was the exact same car I have just returned minutes ago!!!!I got mad. Was too much. The guy raised his shoulder like saying I m sorry but you ll have to deal with it. Instead of trying to solve the mistake they wanted me to go to other Hertz locations to try luck!! I had to insist for him to resolve the problem. Finally he called their LAX location and told me there was a Camaro SS there. Went and of course.. was a lie. There wasn t... But at least they had a Mustang Gt, took it and enjoy it but losing lot of time AND mony AND patience.O and forget about any kind of conpensation
The customer service at this location is unmatched and incredible. Linda and the entire staff made me feel as if I was their only client. The 2020 kia optima was extremely clean and drove like a dream. I absolutely loved the Kia. So much so that I would purchase that car.. I drove it for two weeks and I didnt want to give it back... I would definitely rent from Hertz Santa Monica again

The worst.An hour before my family and I, who are traveling in another country, were to pickup our car they called us to say they sold our car to another and they had no car for us.Leaving us stranded without any options.I would never do business with Hertz again.

Melanie was very helpful considering that there was a difficult person that was a head of me that wanted both Melanie and the other girl that was helping her to assist her while I was being helped and the lady even asked me if she can also be helped by Melanie 🤦🏽♀️ Because she was in a hurry. Both girls were calm and very professiona considering the atmosphere.I recommend this place to anyone, I probably had to wait 5min for my car once I was checked in and check in took about 5 min also, and I was given a reasonable car clean and damage free.
They rented me a car with an empty tank. I had to immediately fuel it to keep driving. When asked why this happened, they told me We do our best to accommodate our customers, but we dont have a gas station on site. This is terrible customer service. I had to eat the cost of whatever gas was left in the tank when I returned it. Would not recommend.
Got a car from Thousand Oaks, was in Santa Monica. Tire pressure on one tire was low. Called in, guy picked up phone, said to come in, they will fill air. When arrived a manager Gaby said sorry, cannot fill air, said the guy who answered phone was a trainee. It was a liability issue? Said to Take car back to Thousand oaks, fill air yourself or call road side assistance. No real apology. Horrible service dragged me all the way there. Went to another hertz location. The manager promptly helped. Had a portable machine. Filled the air. Was on my way. Manager Gaby should learn manners, and learn a thing or two about customer service.

After being in Santa Monica for a day I decided I wanted to rent a car. I could have gone back to the airport but instead I got on line and found a location within walking distance. What a smart move! So much quicker and less hassle than going to the airport. Both on picking up the car and return the people who assisted me at Hertz were great! I will definitely go back there next time I am in the area.

Staffs are friendly, pick-up and return are easy. What impresses me most, however, is I got a 2019 Grand Cherokee limited 4by4. For midsize SUV with price ranging about from 28000 to 47000, this is a pretty nice vehicle (about 38000 msrp). Hertz could have got a low-cost and uninspiring line-up and save money, but it has refused to do so because its a rental company with dignity. This Grand Cherokee made my week in Yosemite. It drives confidently along the twisty mountain road partly covered by snow, through puddles on road after a day of rain. The car is of good condition too, you dont get the annoying tire-pressure alarm or maintenance alarm as you would from cheap rentals. Knowing that I have a good chance of getting Grand Cherokee, I will definitely consider Hertz next time I rent in Los Angeles.
I am so disappointed, my resrvatuon is for today at 5pm. I have now come in twice today, once at 2pm. The nice lady said we have no full size cars but one is on its way from Pep Boys it was getting serviced. She said I could wait for it. I told her I would be back in about an hour since I work across the street. I came back at 4pm and an extremely rude and downright unprofessional lady said your early and youll have to wait until 5pm.....I asked if there was anything that could be done and told her I was already there once today. She was the rudest individual with no customer service skills whatsoevr. I am dreading to return there at 5om to pick up my vehicle. Will it be there and on time? Or will the rude customer service lady still be inconsiderate and demeaning to her customers. Worst experience ever and I will not rent here again. Also I am a Gold Member and just shocked at that this level of poor customer service exists with the Hertz brand. Just plain sad and this woman should not have a job!!

The gentlemen helping us on August 30th, 2018, were exceptionally kind and helpful. They went above and beyond! We were returning a car we had rented for the prior few days and renting a van for a drive to Vegas and they made the entire process extremely pleasant and easy, going so far as to give us a few extras to make the whole experience more convenient. Ive dealt with several Hertz locations. This one is in league of its own. Its hard enough to deal with an accident in your own car.... So when in need of rental replacement you dont want to deal with bs employees. Bryce and the crew at this location actually seem to care. They do a great job at helping you through rough time.
Deplorable customer service and I’m a GOLD Member! I made a reservation for a car at 6PM, showed up minutes before 6PM and although they were all there working with the lights on they had locked the door early.I knocked letting them know I had a reservation at 6PM and all three attendants present just ignored me. Even though I could see them deliberating I knocked again, repeating myself, wondering if they had not heard me. Finally one of their attendants answered saying “it’s 6:02 on our clocks sir we’re closed”. This is the worst car rental attitude/service I have received in 5 years and I rent often. Going back to Enterprise who are right down the road and know how to treat the customer!They would not leave the counter to address me while I was there so I went back moments later for the pic.
I use the Santa Monica Hertz location often. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they always have a car for me -- even when I book at the last minute. This is so much better than fighting long lines at the airport!
Very poor customer service. Gave car away then blamed us for being late to pick up car. Staff indifferent and made no effort to help. Do not use Hertz if you want reliable service. Avis and Sixt close by and much better.

It has a weird vibe. The building is dated and not well maintained. Call ahead if youre running late or theyll give away your car.
Terrible customer service. Our company does thousands of dollars of business with Hertz and we were running 5 minutes late on a return due to traffic and they refused to stay for even those few minutes. Will be serious re-evaluating ever using them again.
Allow plenty of time for a pick up. Small lot with lots of bottlenecks. Staff does there best, though.

By the fourth time I came to pick up a car that I had reserved they alerted me to their new debit policy. I didnt have a corporate account. The thing is, the new debit policy wasnt new, they just hadnt been following it to the letter each time I had rented. Major setback when they refused to give me a car for which I had pre-paid. Very indifferent service and who knows when youll get a car. Currently on a very long hold to get my refund. They kinda suck.

Called all morning, afternoon and early evening...nobody answered until 4:45pm...after 20 rings.Yet, once they got on the phone they were kind and helpful.
Dont expect to get in and out. Every time Ive rented here Ive waited for at least half an hour before getting into a car. Enterprise is much faster and better service, but the cars are more expensive.
If you plan on picking up the car when it opens, dont be in a hurry.
