Very knowledgeable! If you are looking for a respectable transmission shop this is the place to go.Had them check out the transmission in my 05 Monte Carlo because i felt slipping when shifting from 1st to 2nd and sometimes when in Drive on the freeway. I thought it was going to be a transmission rebuild.The first thing they did was to take it on a test drive. But with many issues you have with your vehicle once you take it to the shop everything seems to be working just fine. So they couldnt feel any slipping. The called me to let me know and to ask more questions about the issue. After that the mechanic said lets just do an inspection and go from there.Thankfully all they found was that the fluid and filter hadnt been changed in a while by the previous owner (who stated it had been done by his shop). So they did a complete fluid, filter and gasket change.After picking it up and driving it to and from work in the city i have not noticed any slipping from the transmission.They did chare a $167 inspection charge. But i knew something was up and new something needed to be replaced. So the price i was ok with. After parts and labor it came out to just over $500. Which for a fluid and filter change is quite steep. But they were professional and were upfront with the costs before the work was done. Also the prices they quoted me were darn accurate. No surprises when the job was done and i picked up the vehicle.Will definitely use these guys again.

Drove to R&R transmission with a bad noise under hood,Jim told me to pull it right in. I thought it might be the transmission turned out to just be low power steering fluid (what a dummy). Jim filled it, and good as new. I asked what I owed him, he said have a good day.Great place!!

This is a great shop. I would recommend it to anyone. If your transmission is giving you any trouble at all, bring it here. If you wait, it could cause serious problems leading to a complete failure. These guys will nip it in the bud and save you a bunch of money.

These guys are the best...They rebuilt my transmission and my motor and the work was excellent.They stand by there work. I found them after I got jerked around by a few other places that didnt no more much... Great mechanics?

They did a great job with servicing the transmission on my 08 F250. It was expensive but I dont think it was over priced.

Far from home - I live in southern California - my newly rebuilt transmission wouldnt shift up into drive. Since Jim at Horgans came highly recommended, I called, he told me to come right over...even without an appointment, and I drove to his shop. We did a test drive (drive started working) and he gave me cars transmission and engine an overall review. He then ran the scan and realized that my problem was an intermittent dashboard error (correctable, if it ever happens again, by reinserting the key), not a transmission problem. Im back in Encinitas with peace of mind and a working car. And he wouldnt accept any payment! He has my business for life (and Im gonna pay him from now on)!
