My family is currently receiving services from GSMYC. My children love their counselors. The counselors do all they can to see the children regularly and consistently, even adjusting their schedules to accommodate illnesses and our crazy calendar! I have seen both big and subtle positive changes in my kiddos behaviors, social skills, and personal hygiene since they have been receiving counseling with the organization. I highly recommend the services and counselors at Greater San Marcos Youth Council.

I worked for Greater San Marcos Youth Council for a little over a year. I had a great experience as an employee and had excellent supervisors. I was impressed with the commitment to serving children and families in Hays County, even when we faced a pandemic. Staff in both the children’s shelter and family and youth success program dedicated long hours and hard work to serving the community in a time of crisis. I will always be grateful for the time I spent here and am grateful this organization is around to continue serving the community.

Had an amazing experience here! The counselors go out of their way to make sure that their clients are making growth with themselves and the clients surroundings. I’ve recommended friends here and my overall counseling experience has helped me until this day. The support I received from my counselor as well as others there has been awesome and is very touching. It’s good to have a place to go and know that I am not being judged, but only helped. 1-10, my experience has definitely been a 10/10! The GSMYC is here to help us. 🥰

The services has really helped my son cope with the loss of his mother. My son has felt comfortable expressing his feelings and opening up. It has helped him get through this tough time. I would highly recommend their services.

I was here for two months I’ve never been so uncomfortable and un healthy. I was never brought to the doctor when I told them something was wrong,don’t handle situations good. Nothing but bullying and rude workers. They had bed bugs and still let us sleep in the beds,very un fair with things have to be up at certain time and in bed judt very bad experience.

Horrible living conditions and culture. Several injuries were sustained from expirence here. Had bed bugs amping many other horrible things.

Im 17 and homeless and have nothing but my duffle bags and 20 bucks and I tried calling, the lady on the phone didnt even know what to say when I told her my situation, all they told me was they take childeren under 18 and i told her I was 17 and she told me if I had a child with me then I could but they cant help.

If you are wanting to work here, look somewhere else. They will hire you and spit you out in less than 6 months. In my time working there, they fired over 10 people in 6 months. Most with no actual reasoning as Texas is a work a will state. The actual reason is they are so backwards that they want to take advantage of college age people and get rid of them (even if they are pouring their heart and soul into these kids) because they dont want to pay benefits. They say their probation period is 3 months and then change it to 6 after you realize you should be getting benefits. Save yourself some time and dont work here. Texas State has blacklisted them so they wont even send interns here. That should tell you something.

My granddaughter went here, it is SO good as long as you get the right person.
