By far the most expensive place to live in San Marcos. I dont understand what changed but its sad to see a place so nice mismanaged. Im not the type to complain, but lately they have gone too far in the negative. Today I had a work order completed and with three new light fixtures all hung at a ridiculous height. Me being over 510 should not be able to see the tops of the fixtures. The lights are one example of the many things that can make you regret being here.
Ive lived here for a little over a year now and couldnt be happier. The staff is always very helpful and the two times I had a maintenance issue they were on top of it. The grounds are very well kept. 10/10 would definitely recommend to anyone.
Maintenance is handled with speed. The community is nice and quiet. The office is always willing to help. You can’t go wrong with the pool and spa room. It’s been a nice place. Your close enough to the college fun but far enough to still have quiet nights.
Sprinkler system not operational. Gates frequently broken. Shrubs taken out after the freeze never replaced. Stumps and weeds still fill beds. Property needs to be power washed and painted. People park in handicapped spots and most people do not pick up after their dogs.
Great place to live. Amenities are well kept and clean. Office staff is always helpful and courteous. Maintenance is done in a timely manner. I highly recommend!!!!
Coming from 32 acres to an apartment has been fairly easy since it has been quite in the apartment. Maintenance was quick to resolve any issues we had. The office is very helpful!:)
Great place to live and maintenance responds super fast!
Renewed my lease because of my great experience and the staff is amazing!
Jennifer is a great property manager. From moving in July 2019 to finally moving to another city, we’ve been so impressed with Jennifer’s responsiveness, the maintenance staff, cleanliness of the property and Jennifer’s ability to communicate with the whole community! Even our new property in our new city was able to receive rental verification from Sync in less than a day. We are going to miss the Sync community! Hope our future home is as great as Sync. Thank you guys for an awesome experience!
I absolutely love the apartment, staff and community! I take my dogs on walks all the time and everyone is so friendly, including any staff I see out and about!
My son and I have both enjoyed the apt. It was my weekend getaway and his apt was in a perfect location for watching the deer come in at night from his patio. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and it was nice to have a pool and work out area available before the pandemic. It was also in a perfect location. Close to the important things like the hospital and Ross, lol. I will share my positive feedback with anyone who asks about apts in San Marcos.
This stuff is so nice, and the apartment complex makes me feel so safe, it’s a 10 minute drive to Texas State University. It has great amenities like a sauna and a Jacuzzi, and a cute little trail behind the office where I see baby Deers all the time. Also my downstairs neighbors became close friends to me so it was a good place to choose to live!
I 10/10 do not recommend living here. The management is very poor if you need to talk or get anything done might as well go to Jennifer. Our lease is up at the end of May and we cannot wait to get out of here. They have been through multiple staff members as well so wouldn’t recommend them as an employer either. I don’t usually leave these kind of reviews but I feel that you need to know what you are potentially getting yourself into.
I have been living here at Sync for 4 years now. The management is very reasonable and the property is clean/well kept. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a secure or convenient place in San Marcos.
I was a resident at Sync for a little more than a year and unfortunately had to leave due to a new job in Austin. I had lived in San Marcos since 2007 and must say that Sync was the most pleasurable living experience I have ever had. From the beautiful community to the EXCEPTIONAL management and maintenance team, this place is top notch. I never had to worry about any issues while living here. The management was both friendly and informative about up to date news in the community, and the maintenance team was both efficient and thorough. I will sing praises about this complex for years to come. Thank you everyone! We will miss you all!
So happy to call this place my home. Ive been here for four months and am so happy I chose these apartments. The community is quiet, respectful, and friendly. The apartment staff have been beyond helpful and the maintenence team are professional and courteous. Highly recommend.
I lived at the Sync for a year, and it is by FAR the best apartment complex in San Marcos to live at. The units are top-notch, the location is great, parking is open, and the staff is wonderful. The office staff always greeted me with a smile, and the maintenance staff was always so quick and helpful. I never had an issue that wasnt resolved efficiently and professionally! I moved here to be in a quiet environment (not student housing) to really focus on my studies and I can tell you if thats what youre looking for, this IS the place!!!
I met Natalie Kirby at a recent networking event and I was greatly impressed by her professionalism and knowledge of Sync at Purgatory Creek. If anyone is thinking about visiting your company and finding out more info on what the specifics are, I highly recommend going in and requesting for Natalie! She is the best!!!!:)
Love this place! Staff is super helpful. Complex is quiet. Love my space! Lots of landscaping and green space. Great location with easy access to freeway and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby.
Great so far, despite the pandemic putting restrictions on amenities, it’s one hell of an upgrade from my previous apartment so I have no complaints.
Elysium Apartments is 5 start living on a 3 star budget! We have enjoyed the pool many times already and have enjoyed seeing the deer in our back yard daily! The staff is amazing! Any problem or question arises and they are quick to resolve and / or fix it! And the neighbors have been super friendly and courteous! Great place to call home!
I’ve been here for a month and I highly recommend it. One of the biggest reason why I chose this place was the great reviews about customer service at the leasing office and it’s all true! Great community so far.
I absolutely love living at purgatory. The front staff is super sweet and the amenities are to die for. I never want to leave! The layouts for each apartment are amazing and spacious. Definitely the nicest and best place to live in San Marcos
I just moved from building 12, and I have to say it was the best place I have ever lived. I was on the third floor and just saw complete treetops and nature every time I stepped outside. My bedroom had the most incredible view! I wanted to get a first floor so I could have my dogs and not inconvenience the neighbors below, and they worked with me to find the perfect place! Anthony is amazing and part of the reason why I got my first apartment and why I resigned! He will do everything he can to help you! Love love love this apartment complex and its staff!
This was the best place I have ever been able to call home. We just moved out after 3.5 years and I couldnt have been more pleased with our experience. The property is beautiful and the details in the apartments are far beyond anything else in the area. The staff is awesome and any issues are addressed immediately. The amenities are amazing and we took advantage of the pool and sauna many times. My only complaint is that I wish the gym was larger since it can get pretty crowded. If youre looking for a beautiful apartment at a reasonable price in San Marcos, dont skip this place. You will not regret it.
I have lived here for over 4 years and selected this property since it was quiet, high end, yet affordable. I was sad when Larry Peel sold the property and witnessed a lot of management turnover. Im so happy with the current management. They are wonderful and its great to see all the care and attention that they provide to us as residents via community events and communications.
A wonderful and luxury experience, far enough away from downtown to offer peace and quiet but only 2 miles from campus. Maintenance is prompt and polite, and they allow pets which is a huge plus. The air conditioning works well in the apartment and I love the concrete flooring.
The pool has been closed for six weeks for resurfacing. If the pool needed resurfacing why not pick the winter to do it? This is a tactic to avoid maintaining the pool when it would be used. If you want to live here, dont factor in the pool into the amenities.Update: they suggested I contact them for more info, except when I went into the office to ask when it would be open, they said we dont know. Not a date range, just an indefinite, and their previous guess was beginning of May so Im not sure an estimate would of meant anything anyway. Apparently theyve hired a contractor who is unable to bid/estimate the job correctly which also doesnt inspire confidence.
Elysian at Purgatory Creek is a great place to live! Jay bent over backwards to help me get in at the last minute when a job opened up for me in the area. I have a home in Houston and it has been years since I lived in an apartment and I was worried upfront if I would be happy, but it has been great. I have found Jay and the girls to be super helpful, always friendly, and accommodating. My work order requests were successfully addressed within 24 hours. I am in my 50s and was worried about the potential noise of college students as neighbors, but have had no issues. The students under me and around me have been quieter than I expected-no problems at all. I love all the many dogs I see in the complex and have not had any negative issues. The amenities are great and on many occasions the jacuzzi has helped me to free up from work out muscle soreness. If you live in San Marcos, this is the place to be!
I moved here a little over a week ago and I absolutely love it. The office staff is very friendly and helpful and the over all quality of the apartment cant be beat. The amenities are great and are very well kept which is very important to me. The parking is also awesome because I always have multiple spots in front of my apartment at all times. I am also an apartment locator in San Marcos so I know of every single option that San Marcos has to offer and out of them all I picked this place for my wife and I to live for the next couple years.
Its a luxurious and quiet place to live, definitely my favorite here in San Marcos. Its not overtaken by college students. Management is also super friendly and helpful and know you by name.
Buildings and grounds are well maintained. Management and maintenance are friendly and quick to respond. Excellent location. Easy access to I 35 and downtown.
The staff is warm, kind and wonderful. Any time Ive needed anything from maintenance or the leasing office its taken care of immediately. The units are gorgeous with a lot of natural light and windows (which my girlfriend loves). I love the hot tub, pool and saunas! The communal grill is pretty cool too, but lines tend to form on busy days.I have *no idea* what Jess Johnson is talking about with thin walls, she must not have ever stepped into one of these apartments because I have never heard anything from any of my neighbors unless they are entering or leaving their apartment- and this is in a college town. Also, I have 2 cats, if there were mice anywhere Id be finding evidence of it! Her review sounds fishy to me.
While the amenities are lovely, the staff and select snobs ruin what should be a friendly neighborhood of peaceful people. 90% of the people who live here are genuinely friendly however a minute portion will complain about anything and the management will take their side. My reason specifically being my dogs. Too much to go into but if you own dogs Id stray from this place.
Recently moved in and already having an awful experience. Cant get a hold of management, no one is available at the leasing office on Saturday. Smoke alarm was broken, gas leak in the oven, leaking from the fridge, all within 3 days of move-in. Our gate clickers dont work, the side gate for pedestrians is broken (and was broken 20 days ago when I toured the site). Really disappointed with the place, especially given its cost.EDIT: Although management eventually fixed the problems listed above and have provided us with some credits to our account, new problems keep arising. Trash pick up is awful, even though we have to pay an extra $20 a month for it. Pick up is not always consistent, i.e.: your trash may be out for two days before they take it, and they dont schedule pick ups on the weekends. Then theres the problems with all of the gates. One side has a gate that is constantly open and another side has one that breaks at least once a week, usually around 3am, and blares an alarm for 20 minutes. Ive submitted a maintenance request, which theyve marked as resolved, and the problem continues. For a company that has posted on every single negative review here saying that they are interested in helping and making sure we have a positive experience, they do seem to have a hard time listening to our maintenance requests and actually doing what they say theyre doing.
Team Housing Solutions leased an apartment with Purgatory Creek in December and I havent been happier with the community and with those in the leasing office. They have been extremely helpful and have bent over backwards to accommodate every reasonable (and not so reasonable) request I have had. The community truly is the best in San Marcos and if youre planning on living in an apartment, then Purgatory Creek is the only place you should look. My company works with apartment communities across the nation and we have not found a better community and leasing office than Purgatory Creek! Always ask for Megan for Tiffany! They are great!!
Love living here! The staff is great, maintenance is fast, and it is a quiet and peaceful community. Absolutely no complaints here.
Amazing views, very homey apartments. Great community as well!
I have lived here for three years and it has consistently gone downhill. If you come visit, make sure you pay attention to the details. For instance, things like the doors to the spa tend to be broken, gates are almost always left open for days, the landscaping it is not taken care of anymore.AND THERE IS TONS OF DOG POO EVERYWHERE! This isnt a terrible place to live but you do not get what you pay for.
I have lived at Purgatory Creek for the past 5 years and I absolutely love the community and the staff! This will forever be my home!
Best apartment complex I have ever lived in with an absolute top notch staff. I served 42 years on active duty in the Army. I have lived all over the U S and the world. Nothing comes close to life at the Elysian at Purgatory Creek.
Everything is pretty, the staff is nice...but thats as good as it gets. The maintenance department is the absolute worst. Weve had work orders placed as completed just because we werent home when they came by. Making us have to put in another work order and wait another month before they finally came by with no notice the day before or anything. They also go behind the fence between the gas station and drink beer all day and have beer cans falling out of the golf carts driving around. Dont be fooled by the pleasant staff. We spent a whole day and night at almost 90 degrees because the maintenance guy didnt feel like coming out when he was on call. He lied and said he couldnt go by if were not there, said hed be there in the morning... we were told otherwise when we had to call again at almost noon and another guy came out and said he was lying and was just lazy.
I waited over two week to hear back after I submitted my application.I called over 14 times, left 5 voicemails and sent 4 emails. I was finally able to talk to someone last week and he informed me that someone would be emailing me and calling me back the next day. Naturally no one did. So I called them more and still no one picked up. On my 5th phone call today someone finally picked up and told me they gave the apartment to someone else. After I was told my application was the only one submitted on a particular unit. Highly unprofessional and I most defiantly wont be recommending them to anyone. Huge waste of time and of my 105 dollars that they now get to keep.
To make things short, the sales staff pushed me and my wife to apply even though they knew we would be denied so they could keep our app and admin fees. I highly suggest you DO NOT APPLY HERE. They WILL lie to you about their policies and fees, then try to take every penny possible and REFUSE to rightly refund you.
The property is quite pretty and we are renting for a three month period only through corporate rentals. The staff is very nice, but we have a terrible time getting them to actually fix anything. When we moved in the gas had not been turned on so the stove did not work, the ice maker did not work, there was no hot water. No one is in the office on Sat. evening and Sunday and no one returns calls. When we finally have gotten to speak to them, they apologize, say they will have someone out and if one or two things get fixed, then something else is not working. I think we will be able to get these things finally fixed, but am tired of all these shabby things. These are not inexpensive apartments. The gym was very nice and the pool looks nice too, but I will be glad to move out and we have only been here a week.
Great property with lots of potential. Things are improving -- currently doesnt live up to the advertised luxury living or the expectstion value of the amount of rent charged. Hopefully the new on-site management will continue to work neglected maintenance issues, be proactive and get things where and how they should be. Safety is becoming more of an issue as non-functioning lighting at night makes it dark; trash collection is an ongoing problem and speeding on the property continues to be unaddressed. -- 3 stars
I would not recommend this community to anyone. The management is terrible!!! when i first moved into my apartment they assured me that is was in immaculate condition and that everything had been repainted and was brand-new. I walk in to find the apartment was spot painted and still had dirt smudged on the wall in some areas and when the light would shine through the windows you could see the areas of new vs. old paint. The front door did not have a keyless deadbolt from the inside. The microwave is broken and cracked and when it closes fragments of plastic fall over the stove sometimes into our food. We were told a new microwave was being ordered and 4 months into the lease we still do not have it. Our under counter lights in the kitchen do not have covers on them which is a health and safety concern, they said they would cover them and still have yet to do so. The master bedroom toilet runs constantly and the hallway light switches do not work this is also another issue they said they would fix but still have yet to 4 months into the lease. It took 93 days for them to fix a broken lock on my mailbox so all my mail was there for the world to grab. Not to mention i had my identity stolen during this time period...hmmm i wonder why. When confronting the property manager about any issues she always claims she had no idea of the problem yet all other employees know. So either the employees do not voice resident issues to the property manager or she is just lying and knew the whole time. Also they hate dogs, if you have a dog find somewhere else. They will fine you for your dog with no proof that your dog or you actually did something to violate the lease. And as per the leasing office they do not have to show proof that you violated the lease they can just fine you whenever. This place is a nightmare!!!!!!
Staff is friendly, but we have had to call matinenace more than 3 times within a mont living here. The clicker for the right gate NEVER works no matter how close you get or how many times you click it. It makes it super inconvenient when you live on the first building towards that way.
Nice property, great amenities. Leasing Office must be either short staffed or extremely because they do not return phone calls.
I lived here 5 years ago and came back to lease again due to the location, the customer service and overall look of the facility.
Luxurious kitchen and bathrooms won us over. After we moved in, we soon learned that the walls of the apartment are extremely thin, we always woke up to the noise of the people we shared the bedroom wall with. The windows and doors would not properly seal, we would always smell cigarette smoke inside our apartment when a neighbor would smoke outside. The management hates dogs. I got calls from the office saying that my little dog was barking to loud from his kennel when the maintenance guys were changing the air filter in my apartment. Then the office girl said she went to knock on my door to see how loud he would bark, and said that my dogs barking was causing a big problem in the complex. Lastly, be forewarned of the horrible blind spot at the entrance of the complex.
Nice views
