My neighbor and I called the non emergency line today to get an officer out about a cat who had a severed tail and was paralyzed, very ill, and ALIVE but suffering in our yards. We have never seen this cat before. The very kind officer called to get animalControl there (it’s Saturday) and when he came is tossed the injured cat into the pen without any care and shut the door on its very injured half of a tail. The cats eyes were wide open in pain but he was unable to move. He was completely careless. Very disappointed.-Sarah
Called to find out if they still had a dog that they picked up because we were interested in adopting it. We were told they didnt know and wed have to come in to see if it was still there. The dog had been chipped so it shouldve been a simple thing. We live 3 hours away so we couldnt just run over there.
Compassionate towards animals. Checks on them after adopted. Clean environment. Pets sleep on hammocks.
I live downtown and there was a songbird caught/tangled in strings on the powerlines behind my apartment. The Utilities operator wouldnt help me but animal control came out, saw the poor little bird hanging from a string on the lines, and got utilities to come cut the string and free the bird! As well as remove the excess string so no other birds would get caught. I tried calling other people but no one else came to help. If you have this kind of problem, they will help you rescue a wild animal.
Called on a stray cat for them to pick it up and take it. They told me l need to have it in a carrier cause their not going to catch a loose animal. I told them the cat is friendly but apparently they still want me to put the cat in a carrier for them, so basically i’m controlling the animal for animal control which l dont even know why their called animal control in that case probably just lazy. Not to mention i’m 2 blocks away just don’t have the time as i’m busy.
Very friendly staff
Youre not allowed to have your dog off leash on your private property without a fence...seems rediculous to me.
Well get to it when we get to it is pretty terrible for any service/business.
My dog got picked up over the weekend by San Marcos Animal Control. She is very good at escaping, even though we have blocked all her known exits from the fence. I called to ask them if they had picked up a heeler over the weekend, and they told me I had to go look. It would have been nice if they could have looked or knew if a heeler had been brought in. So I drove 20 minutes with my infant to go look and sure enough she was there. They wouldnt let me take her home because I didnt bring her shot record. I had just called and no one mentioned anything. I adopted her from a small animal shelter in another state and they wouldnt be able to fax the information until the next day (my name hadnt been put on the rabies shot certificate because technically my friend adopted her then drove her to me). I did fill out an adoption form but it was sent back to the shelter and I didnt get a copy. Im now waiting on that shelter to fax the new certificate with my name on it so I can pick my dog up. I called the san marcos shelter to let them know and if they could call me back (since I have an infant and have to be back to pick up my other child). They said they dont do callbacks. They are not willing to help you get your dog back at all. The service there is very poor and unacceptable. They should be willing to work with owners to help return pets and not offer resistance and unwillingness at every turn. I hope to never have to deal with them again.
Really lazy rude and unreliable. Dude in the truck with the glasses needs a different job.
Officer Steven Heath refused to send someone out to investigate two dogs that have been barking for over two weeks.
I did not receive commendable advice nor services from this government agency.
Lazy and incompetent
