All that remains of the Ah Louis Store is a building and a plaque. Built in 1885 Ah Luis was a merchant and business man. My memories of the store from the 1970’s recall it being a store with odd imported curios. Today it is not a store, just a memory. The building was handed down from generation to generation and rumor has it the great grandson now owns the building. You can look in, and it is a pretty much empty ground floor shop. Who know about upstairs. It is a piece of the local history, and now most of that can be found in history books. Interesting for locals and a walk by for others.
This one remaining store is all that is leftof a busy Chinatown that once was. Dueto prejudice, greed, and stupidity, almostall else was destroyed....much replacedwith Parking lots of all things.Ah Louis appeared to an amazing manin his day & the 5 Stars are for him. Thisstore & the area around it should be usedas a museum to remember & honor thesepioneers....instead, much has been buriedunder concrete or left to rot in storage.I also agree with the other reviewer.
Super cute. Historic building. Check em out.
