I had to pay 800 us for an scratch in a roof that wasn’t even working and two caps that in ebay are not more than 40 bucks. The stuff was friendly and is not their fault that apollo is making a business from scratching. The RV was cool but at the end it’s a terrible experience paying extra 800 dollars to fix those things

I’d worried at the delays I’d heard about in picking up, but my experience lasted just over an hour and was made much speedier by the help of Alyce. The process was quite painless, and she even helped guide me through the right optional extras to have, which didn’t cost a lot, and the RV was pretty much as I expected. Not quite like the online photos but not too far off. I’m a few days into the rental now, so fingers crossed it all stays good!

A Kafkaesque tale:Apollo just charged my sister an extra $2000 for an accident that had never happened during her trip. They admitted there is no damage and have given no evidence, but insist that an accident occurred. Go prove you have not been involved in an accident. This is an amazing story. While my sister was in the trip, the company called me as an emergency contact and scared me to death that she had been involved in an accident. I called my sister, who did not know what they are talking about. She called them and they admitted it must be a mistake because the report referred to the previous rental agreement. Upon returning the vehicle they did a walk around and confirmed to my sisters husband that there is indeed no damage. They assured him that everything is fine. Only at home did they notice that, not only were they charged an extra $1000, they were also not refunded the original $1000 deposit. Calling Apollo the next day proved to be futile. They said, that, well there is an accident on the record and thus the charges. Not a shred of evidence was ever given and no damage on the RV. Go prove you did not have an accident. Did we say Kafka ?Beside this issue it was also clear immediately how badly run and disorganized this company is. It took them 4.5 hours to deliver the RV although it was prepaid, preordered and phone checked in.

Really terrible experience, you can check the Image, 2000$ for a minor scratch... 18 work hours... Think twice before renting with these people. I had problems with almost anything. The RV was not in proper condition, the 24hour service was never available, terrible waiting time...I´ve been waiting for 4 months until they answered me with the bill below that my deposit would never be refunded. Rented an RV with them. Rv was all good etc. Apart from when we returned the rv no damage etc and got the paperwork to prove it. Yet they’ve keep my $1000, keep emailing them and phoning them. They say it will be with you in due course. Yet I’ve returned the RV a month ago now and have got to find the money to pay the credit card. Thanks Apollo.

Hidden fees and lies all along, beware of what you are going for if you decide to rent anything with these crooks, or be prepared to pay much more than you expected. Amazed that this company is still operating and has not been closed by a law suit already, as it should be.Some details in our case:- RV rented online before the trip, to go to burning man. In the rental agreement, it was mentioned that an extra cost of US$1,500 was applying to all vehicles going to burning man. Expensive but no choice, BM is an extreme environment.- We wanted to return the RV on Sept 2nd, but because it is labor day, agency was closed, we had no other choice but to return it on the 4th, and pay accordingly. This was clearly stated online, and 2nd could not be selected as a return date- Upon arrival to the agency, we discovered that we were not allowed to use the awning the RV is equipped with (and the awning was blocked for that purpose on the RV), because it was company policy for all RVs (burning man or not). Needless to say, this was never mentioned online.- When renting, we were told that we had to return the car spotless or would incur severe penalties. The BM extra fee $1,500 did not include cleaning, just going to BM. We then agreed that we would clean the car, the agent became somehow threatening, telling us that only a professional cleaning company could get the car impeccable post burning man, we would not be able to clean it ourselves, etc...Given that we were driving back on Sunday, we started to worry that we would not find a pro cleaner open that day. The agency proposed a solution, called hasslefree return package, where you can return the car dirty, for a whooping US$1,200 extra!! We were outraged but had not much more choice left so had to go with it, because otherwise we would have to pay the cleaning fees + penalties if we didnt select this option now.- While renting, we were told that finally the agency was open on 2nd, so could return that day, but no compensation for the extra 2 days possible, since we selected return on 4th at the time we did the booking online (reminder: when we booked online, returning on Sept 2nd was not possible, the agency was supposed to be closed...)- When returning the car on the 2nd, the lady who received it told us it was dirty so we had to pay an extra US$300!!! Then she realised that we had this hasslefree return package so she agreed that we did not have to pay the $300. At that point we understood that we should have paid only $300 and not $1,200 (!!!) for the cleaning, so start arguing about it, and how misleaded, or even clearly lied upon, we had been when renting the car. The agent turned extremely rude, yelling at us that there were other benefits included in the hassle free package, such as a windshield insurance (...??!!!) and the free usage of the generator of the car. Thats when we also realized that the use of the generator integrated in the car (which is needed for air conditioning and other things such as charging battery for fridge, water pump etc..., so basically everything you need to use inside the rv) was at an extra fee, by the hour ! Lucky us we did not have to pay for that thanks to our hassle free return remarkable $1,500 package!- We though still had to pay for every mile we drove, since miles were not included in the rental, which we ignored as well, adding another $300...- We ended up the conversation with the manager (did not want to talk to the super rude agent and got a goodwill gesture down of $150- ALL other customers in the agency were also yelling and fighting against all the hidden and extra fees, was incredibleMORALITY: Avoid these crooks at all cost, or it will cost you. Greatly...

Super happy with the experience here. We rented a camper for a week, and the staff were all very friendly and had good rapport with each other and with the customers. Mike, the assistant manager, was particularly helpful. The collection process, including the walkthrough of the vehicle, took about 90 minutes. The campervan supplied was less than six months old, and immaculate throughout. We had no troubles with it whatsoever. My wife and I travelled with two small children (5 and 6) and had a ball.I have no hesitation in recommending Apollo, their campers are so much much nicer than the Cruise America campers we saw on the road.

Upon return the written contract that we signed and agreed to was not upheld. I have previously used this company and had great service, however on 2017 the staff and service was horrific. Do not use this service unless you want to spend time disputing undisclosed charges and the validity of the contract.

We arrived at 12pm to pick up the RV, they said it would be roughly an hour wait. However burning man festival had happened, so we expected a bit longer of a wait. We left the site at 6.45pm with the RV. The whole time we was there we never got an update of what was going on or even ONE APOLOGY. We left the site and there was only a 1/4 tank of petrol. Our route was already planned and because we ended up leaving 6 hours after intended we got to our next destination late so could not check in that evening and missed out on that day. We was then dropping it off at Las Vegas 10 days later, we emailed both of the sites to say due to what had happened, could we take the RV back in the afternoon instead of 11am due to them wasting the whole of our first day. They said no, there was no compromise. They again didnt even apologise for what had happened. The RV was average, it wasnt cleaned up to standard but then we was expected to take it back immaculately cleaned. The idea of saying the rest of the amount had to be paid locally is a farce. I am sure they make up the final remainder balance, what kind of a company is this. All in all we had a dreadful experience from the get go and the staff we encountered were non empathetic and have no people skills. I would strongly recommend not to use this company!!!!!!!!

But when we got there we had to wait for 4 hours before we finally got the RV. And when we got it, we were told they didnt have anymore blankets and pillows, so we had to buy that ourselves, but they paid. The RV itself was fine when we finally got it, but the company itself I cannot recommend.

Let me start off by saying: the RV itself was great. The one star rating is for the actual place and worst service I have experienced in a couple of years. The place is run down - one filthy bathroom and torn up waiting area. We showed up with a reservation for an RV, and waited for over 4 hours!! Severely understaffed, to the point of a ridiculous wait for at least 15 people. We were told at the start of the day we would get a 22 ft rv (we preffered a smaller one) and at the end of the day received a 25 ft one. When we asked about this, we literally got an eye roll from the employee.Absolutely low level of service, no facilities, certainly our last time here.

I rented a motorhome from here for the whole month of Feb 2018. The unit itself was nearly new. It was manufactured Apr 2017. The actual model they rebrand as a Pioneer was in our case a Minnie Winnie 25B.That said they dont seem to do any maintenance. The plumbing near the fresh water tank was leaking at pick up. The staff told me not to worry about it. The entire month the plywood floor in the area was soaked, fortunately it wasnt in the living space. The house batteries didnt last long and had heavy corrosion when I had a look. The black tank flush check valve was stuck, the kitchen sink constantly dripped. All little things that didnt heavily affect us as we were hooked up but would be a hassle had we dry camped. The staff is friendly for the most part but not really customer focused. I rented in the low season and didnt have any delays in the pick up or drop off process like other reviewers, nor did they try to deduct any damages. When I initially booked however, I added a free miles promotion. Somehow this detail went missing from their system. They hassled me much more than necessary to prove that the reservation ever had that promotion even though it was still an active offer for new reservations. The main reason Im sour about the experience is the handling of the damage deposit (bond). First, they outright take the money from your credit card unlike most car rentals where it would just be an authorization. Secondly, they tack on a non-refundable $33 admin fee to the deposit, which I knew about from reading the rental contract, but its still slimy to hide it there instead of putting it in the sales invoice. Finally, they hold on to the deposit as long as they can. Anyone whos checked their credit card balance online knows that purchases and refunds show up instantly. These guys try to string you on a ruse about how it takes time to process a refund. After reading about others waiting a month and waiting a week and a half myself, I ended up having to initiate a charge-back with my bank to finally get it back. The purpose of our trip was to see what kind of motorhome my wife and I should buy as we are in the market. We had a lovely time in California and our goal was accomplished. I knew ahead of time from reading the reviews that Apollo is, as mentioned, slimy in their business practices, and they did soil me as they did others with their metaphorical slime. The price paid was lower than other options so I begrudgingly accept the trade off.

Stay far away from this company. We showed up for our confirmed reservaton (in the midle of nowhere) and they had given away the last vehicle in our class. The only RV they offered us ended up with so many things broken its not worth listing them all. When the Carbon Manoxide detector went off we tried to reach the roadside assistance we paid extra for and were told they couldnt help us with our RV type and there was no other information over the weekend. We had to disconnect the detecor which obv. is not safe and didnt feel smart but it was that or vacation over. Lastly, whetehr it was incompetence or just lying you couldnt trust anything any of the staff told you.

The only star in the star-RV (same company as Apollo) was the one in the windscreen. Took 2 hours to get the RV, interior wasnt thoroughly checked as most sunscreens didnt properly work, screws were loose and missing in 2 cabinets and there was a star in the windscreen that wasnt on the papers (we didnt notice it either). Returning was a similar experience, took more than an hour and although we were covered by insurance we protested against booking the damage against it as this was already there. wouldnt recommend hiring at this branch (san leandro), very unpleasant and slow staff as well that tried to upsell and treated customer that checked in online (filling 90% of the paperwork before arriving) the same as people that filled out nothing, which made the wait unnecessarily long. The RVs they rent are very fuel efficient (ehm, no, not really :)) with 7 miles to the gallon if youre lucky and driving very fuel efficiently, not very comfortable when driving (and thats an understatement), bad interior quality (sunscreens and drawers malfunctioning and screwed very loosely in just triplex wood), good toilet and shower, great heating and microwave, loud AC unit. Beds are ok, comfortable, cooking equipment that came from starRV was actually quite bad and incomplete, we had to buy several additional items in order to prepare a reasonably decent meal.

As for the rental:- their emergency number is contactable only from a US telephone and not from a foreign sim. We needed to contact them and we had extreme difficulties because we were in a park. Not telling us created us many hassles.- miserable camper equipment: although we had full equipment, paid dearly, they gave us 1 flat sheet each for two people for 3 weeks of rental (in the USA you sleep directly on the mattress? there is no bottom sheet? I think).- The kit is only one towel (for 3 weeks rental) and only after insisting there they gave one another (Total 3 towels for 2 people to wash the body, hair, face).- A thin blanket not enough even in summer.- Kitchen Kit scarce and not very functional with steel pots in which you attack everything and knives that do not cut.- No cleaning accessory like a broom I had to buy.Warning: In addition to the rental cost, without telling you, you charge $ 1,000 on a credit card on the day when you pick up your camper. This is not a deposit but a real charge.Check with your bank immediately after picking up the camper. After 2 months from the return of the camper we still havent got our money back !!!To feel safer, they made us take out insurance against minor damages of about $ 150. During the rental, while we were in regular stop, a car made us a superficial scratch on the body of 3 cm. To protect ourselves with Apollo, we took all the car data and the driver and brought all the police present there documentation attesting our disclaimer in small incident (really a scratch). We make the camper and tell the fact bringing all the documentation. We discover that our insurance, looks a bit, does not cover precisely and only scratches to the body, that the documentation is not the responsibility of the police is worth nothing and that they continue to hold back the $ 1,000 that perhaps we will return only partially (must engage an expert, repair - REPAIR! - the scratch etc).Obviously we were stupid to be honest and report the scratch. They dishonest to escape when 1000 US dollars with their German partner has always spoken only of a deposit and not debit. Obviously the papers interest (we are already at over 20 dollars) I wont see them again.Discourage HIRE WITH THEMUpdate 07/28/2019: they havent made our money yet and they havent even made themselves known.

Cant understand the previous reviews for the most part and would therefore like to refute that a bit.We were prepared for the worst based on the comments, but were pleasantly surprised. When we were handed over, the staff were very friendly and after a waiting time of about 1 hour in a group of six people (plus three children) everything was sufficiently explained to us.An explanation in German is not necessary if you have dealt with the upcoming vacation in the camper a little beforehand and if necessary looked up a few technical terms.Anyone who complains about such waiting times is likely to complain about the long waiting time before they can get on their plane. The vehicle was absolutely new (date of manufacture 02/17) and super clean. Had a really great vacation with it.The automatic was very sluggish, but that didnt detract from the experience.

Our dissatisfaction mainly concerns the check-in. RVs are supposedly available from 12h. We had to be at least 12 guests that day. My family arrived at 11:50 and 9 customers were already on the waiting list. We spent 3 hours in all with 2 hours of waiting. We had the shopping to do and 4h drive to our first campsite, so we did not take the time to check in detail the material provided. We had some unpleasant surprises regarding the quantity and cleanliness of the dishes. Error in the number of camping chairs (a canvas table instead of 1 chair). There is a branch in Las Vegas, we will make a detour on our itinerary (22 days) to recover the missing objects. So ... arrive well before noon and / or do not book a campsite too far. More practical with young children and when its your first time in RV and out of your country!

Directions:We drove from Powell St. with the BART to Bay Fair (about $ 5 + Clippercard) and then on to Uber to Apollo Station. That worked very well.Arrival Apollo / Introduction: On the documents of CU Camper was that you can pick up the camper from 12.00 clock. We were there at 10.30 oclock (to recommend!) We have hired and registered. At 12.15, 19 numbers were called in the first round and a nice employee gave each a self-introduction leaflet matching the booked van, with the request to teach the camper himself and stow his luggage in the van.The note is in English but very simple. If you still have questions after that, they will be answered personally.Check-in: after about 30 minutes self-introduction, we are at the bar and have signed the note signed. The procedure there with drivers license etc. took about 30 minutes.Scratch check: Then there was the scratch and mileage check with an employee. He was very nice. And we got our booked equipment. To the US Tourer (Ford Transit Coachmen): the tourer was very new, spotless cleaned and had all the bells and whistles (CarPlay, heater, generator, night vision reversing camera). We absolutely took him to heart during the two weeks. The length of 22ft was optimal, because you fit in everywhere and it is a mini van by American standards. Inside you still have plenty of room.Facilities / Equipment:Bedding: It is really just a blanket and a sheet, in which you want to wrap the blanket, feather pillows and a towel. There is no fitted sheet! Walmart helps.Cooking utensils: 3 pots of various sizes with lid, fried potato pan (would take mini Teflon next time), salad bowl, toaster, chopping board, kettle for stove, glass coffee pot, filter holder, cutlery, bottle opener, grill cutlery, ladles, knives, pubs, plates big + small, cereal bowls, glasses, cups, vegetable peeler. Spüli, sponge, Schuhabstreiferappen. That was it. We have missed nothing, vllt a salad plan.Departure: At about 2.30pm we could drive from the farm. Then 1-2 hours of grocery shopping at Walmart .... Then youre hungry .... It takes forever until youre ready ... Tip: Bay the first campsite in the vicinity (2-3 hours) before. Its getting late and then youre just more relaxed. On road:We noticed on the way that the handover is not an introduction, but only a check to see if everything works. We had no idea what works. Unfortunately, the questions are known to come later, when you have long gone from the farm ... And unfortunately we had no guest guide, so no manual ... (check before departure!)Tip: there are short videos from Apollo on YouTube that explain everything well. Otherwise simply campsites, parking lots etc. Americans or other campers ask. They are all very helpful and sometimes put up with dump questions with a car. In addition, we saw many tourists on the way with the same camper and then we exchanged. For example, the display has still shown 50% full after dulling. This has unsettled us. The problem had others as well. Have then just dumped on each campsite once.On the key is the number of Apollo, on which one can call 24/7 to any question. Good service. But did not need him and punched us through and tried all the buttons.Return:You can stay well last night at Anthony Chabot CG. There is also a dump station and some full hook-up parking. From there it is 25 minutes to Apollo. The return at Apollo went very fast. Approximately 30 minutes including vacation report. :)We are then for about 45 dollars with UBER to the airport (including bridge toll).Nice holiday. Would we do the same again and book with Apollo and CU.

We had an Apollo Tourer for 3.5 weeks with pick up and drop off in San Francisco. For pickup we had selected 16 clock online, which was also on our confirmation. However, we were called at 15:30 by a very unfriendly lady, where we would stay. They were only there until 16 clock and the pickup would take about an hour. The pickup (as well as the return) was then smoothly but also very unfriendly on the stage. On the Internet you can select any time. However, at San Francisco, the return is only between 9:00 and 11:00 and pick-up is between 12:00 and 16:00. We have seen many other customers who had to wait for hours to pick up the car as they were already in the morning. All were treated rude, as if it was their mistake! After 10 days, our vehicle has an electrical defect and could not charge the second battery (for refrigerator, water pump, light, gas detector ...). The phone service stopped us for 3 days before we were really helped. We had to wait constantly for recalls (which meant that we waited for hours in the camper), had to press again and again the same buttons and nothing happened. After a long discussion, a technician was sent to us. He had no idea about the camper and could not really help us (another day was ruined). After we (now in Las Vegas, where is another station of Apollo) have finally refused to continue to drive and claim compensation, we were promised by the phone support a (on multiple demand) same Apollo Tourer as a replacement. At exactly 15.00 oclock we had to be at Apollo (40 min drive per direction), to find out that there are no tourers, as they often have technical problems. We were prepared for a bigger camper. Only the positive service in Las Vegas was a small consolation! We had opted for Apollo as a landlord, because we wanted a small camper (22ft). With the new larger motorhome we could not drive in the National Parks some streets, as they are locked for vehicles> 22 ft, and had to change our route!Through the resulting miles, we covered our booked miles package and had to pay dearly in the end!Last but not least, we would like to mention the extra equipment added up for a lot of money:- Very thin blankets, freezing in California at night in September. We had to buy some, otherwise it would have been too cold.- Camping chairs and table in miserable condition (disgusting!)We will not go into any further minor inconvenience.

My wife and I rented a RV - Pioneer - for almost a month this year in early May. When we arrived in the late morning just one family was in front of us and another family at another Schaltzer (it was the beginning of May). We did not have a long wait - there were two switches open. The entire lending process - we had a nice lady - was very friendly. All in all, it took us about 30 to 35 minutes until we actually stood in front of our camper.Zum Wohmobil: Our motorhome - Pioneer Outlook we got in a perfectly clean condition. The car itself I would estimate at about 1 year old (it had 18,000 miles). Inside, it was spotlessly clean and in an unblemished condition. The on-site service (on-site explanation, assessment of previous damage, etc. was quick and easy) and we even got extra linen (4 full beds for two people). Since we already had a similar mobile home at Apollo (another location) and already knew a few things (procedure for dumping, use of the generator, connection of electricity and water, etc.) this was so accepted and only briefly mentioned again, All in all, my wife and I were absolutely happy with Apollo RV. When returning everything went incredibly fast. It took less than 30 minutes to get there from our arrival until we were already in a taxi to the airport. This, too, was quick, uncomplicated, friendly and nice. Some of the predecessor comments are incomprehensible to us, and I want to emphasize that we can only judge and want what we have personally experienced. That in San Francisco (as criticized a few times) is not German spoken, true, but we did not expect (in America you just speak English).

I waited there for over 5 hours until our motorhome was ready for collection. I was also charged a fee of around $ 40 just to collect the deposit. It was not only blocked on the credit card but debited !!You have to insist on receipts and copies, otherwise you wont even get a receipt for the deposit. All in all, I find it very dubious. The return was at least quick and easy. I would never book there again!

Rotten customer service ... when we arrive we are the only customers ... the attendant installs us in front of a computer to enter our details and disappears leaving us alone ... 5 minutes and its over ... we are waiting the attendants return ... another attendant Kristin enters the office ... we ask her if she can continue since our attendant has disappeared ... she mentions going to get her and comes back mentioning that she is going to finish her dinner and come see us in 10 minutesWe wait 20 minutes while Kristin is at the counter doing nothingNo longer able to wait we insist that it completes our arrivalNo smile a monotonous voice she chews on her words speaks low repeats everything that we have already seen in a presentation video and everything takes a lot of timeThis attendant does not know her job well it is obvious ... it took us 2 hours to get out of there and not a single client always

Staff not too friendly .... ATTENTION: RVs are only issued after 2 p.m. !! Those who come early unfortunately have to wait a long time. Long introduction to groups and then a video about the RV. We wondered why we had paid the first day in full ...!?! A small second-hand shelf with residual items from tenants that you can still use was good. Supermarket for shopping is a few meters away ... RV was great ...

We had to wait 5 hours until we finally got an instruction for our rv. It was all quite disorganized and difficult to understand what they want to know. Then after 5 hours we would first have to do a check-in on the pc, of which only 2 were available, the internet did not always work. In my opinion, we could have been told that we had to do it when registering, then the crowd would not have been so bad in the end.

3 hours to take over RV is simply unreasonable. Can only join my prescribers. RVs are great and new! Checkout much better and faster.

So far everything was fine. The camper was great! The service is not quite so. Nobody could explain the important things in German, although this company makes its money with tourists from all over the world! You should take a special look at camping accessories like table and chairs! US was given a table that did not match the uncomfortable high chairs. A chair and the table also broke on the tour because they were already old and worn out ... But still the motorhome was great! Everything was functional and well thought out. Large fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, great bathroom
