Such an amazing gym! I felt welcomed by everyone as soon as I walked in. The community at Moxie is supportive and encouraging. The programming is top notch and there is an abundance of equipment. The coaches are knowledgeable and push you to another level. I was in town for a couple months but Moxie made me wish I could stay longer. If you live in or visit the San Jose area, you have to drop in and stay a while. You will not be disappointed!
We moved back to the Bay Area last year, and did drop-ins at three different box before joining Crossfit Moxie. We have stressful jobs, and was looking to join a box with good programming. This was our one hour together each day to destress, and we wanted to make it worthwhile. We werent only impressed by their programming, but the coaches were knowledgeable, patient, and everyone just looked happy! The coaches worked out alongside us (something we rarely see), everyone cheered for one another, and we love the sense of camaraderie here. Crossfit Moxie also has a 4 pm class, and we appreciate them accomodating to athletes like us who cant come to later classes because of kids. Whether youre a new or veteran athlete, dropping-in or joining, its a guaranteed great time here. Youre going to come out mentally and physically stronger than when you enter.
Best gym around. I know the owner, and I know he gives it and everything he does 100% whether you want to lose some weight or build your muscles this is a great place to go.
Fantastic gym, even better people. Communities like Moxie is why Crossfit is a worldwide network. Thanks Hannah, Micah and Josh.
Incredibly friendly owners! Best gym in the entire San Jose area. Knowledgeable staff that helps you get a great workout in a safe, smart, positive environment. Check them out for sure.
Traveling to Santa Cruz from Boston for a wedding and stopped by CrossFit Moxie to do the open workout 19.2. Everyone was very friendly and encouraging, there was never a point where I felt out of place. The box was clean, organized, and well maintained. I would highly recommend to others in the area and will definitely come by again if I am ever in the area.
I moved to SJ and knew I needed to find a gym ASAP. I dropped into Moxie for a few days and the decision was made! The class times are extremely convenient, theres open gym all day, the coaches are extremely knowledgeable, and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Even after doing CF for a few years, I was PRing at Moxie immediately because the coaches could call out nuances in my form that made a huge impact in my performance. I feel so lucky to be able to call Moxie home.
I tried 3 different CrossFit gyms in San Jose before joining CrossFit Moxie. It is the best CrossFit in the area! Friendly environment, amazing coaches, and supportive people. After 2 years of failed attempts I finally convinced my husband to join Moxie, and now this place is like his second home 😄 Great place to reach your fitness goals and have fun at the same time! 🏋🏼♀️
***COVID-19***: With the recent global pandemic, CFM has done its due diligence to ensure that the members’ health and wellness is at the utmost importance. Social distancing of six feet is required when working out. Pods (partition workout space that contains all the equipment needed for the workouts) are created to safely workout. Sanitation spray bottles are at every pod and hand sanitizers around the area. All members are required to wipe down all the equipment used after their workout. There are fans all over the gym to help ventilate the large space. Mask use is HIGHLY encouraged. Signs posted around the gym to kindly remind members to safely workout.Coaches: I was nervous for my first class, but all my fears were squashed immediately by the coaches. Theyre all amazing, knowledgeable, caring people who will remember your name and welcome you to each class. No one is invisible or nameless at CFM, and believe me, thats rare at most fitness classes! The coaches take time to get to know each person, and you can tell they want everyone to improve and progress through the skills at their own pace. Best of all, theyre always encouraging while emphasizing safety and proper form.Classes: Each class is an hour, during which time youre led through a very thorough warm-up tailored to the WOD (injury prevention!), followed by skill work, and then the WOD. I noticed theres a pattern to the workout programming each week, so one day might be all about calisthenics, while other days will utilize barbells/dumbbells/kettlebells. Personally, I like knowing I can expect barbell work on Tuesdays (for example) so that I can plan other physical activity around my CFM workout. One thing thats great is the variety of programming! Youll never be bored at CFM! One thing I have to mention is the scalability of CFMs WODs. Im pretty much a newbie when it comes to CrossFit skills, so I really appreciate that all of the workouts are scalable. Theres absolutely no pressure to be an expert right out of the gate because theres always room to progress from wherever you are on your fitness journey. If youd really like to build skills and confidence, CFM offers Spark! classes on specific days (see website) that are guaranteed to on-ramp you to the CF classes. For those looking to improve on cleans, jerks, and snatches, Olympic Weightlifting is offered Tuesday and Thursday. Strongman is only offered on Sunday. One last thing: if you like to prepare yourself mentally for the next days WOD, theyre posted on SugarWOD (website/app) the afternoon before.Gym: Honestly, I cant think of a cooler training spot than CFM. The first thing you’ll notice is the large warehouse partition into pods for each member to safely workout during class. At one end of the space is a large floor fan that’s as tall as me as well as medium sized fans through the facility for extra ventilation. Inside, youll find an expansive array of equipment organized neatly to maximize the space. Its pretty rad to workout at CFM and its a great location, in my opinion. Two all genders restrooms are offered. Parking: With CFM located in an industrial plaza, there is plenty of parking around the building.Atmosphere: Its only been a month since I started going to classes, but CFM already feels like a community. Im an introvert, but I found myself becoming more and more comfortable here. The owners, Hannah and Micah, are very friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they truly care about each and every person. CFM definitely isnt a globo-gym, and Hannah, Micah, the coaches (Josh and Jake), and all the members have created a safe, friendly, super chill place to workout and engage with the San Jose community.TLDR: CFM has a fantastic coaching team ready to get you started with CF or help you improve if you already have a solid CF foundation. The classes are challenging and scalable for people of all abilities. Its a cool space to workout in and you wont find a better gym community in San Jose.
Great Crossfit box with a variety classes from traditional CrossFit wods to weight lifting classes strongman classes and now Spark classes. Lots of class times and open gym availability, great coaches, great programming and awesome members! A place you can go & sweat out your stresses of the day alongside of people from all walks of life and fitness abilities!
Ive been going to CrossFit Moxie for almost 4 months. I came in with no prior Crossfit experience and was met with an extremely knowledgable coaching staff who continue to teach me everything I need to know, and help me improve on what I already do know. The Moxie community is an incredibly supportive group of people of all various ages and experience levels who will welcome you in and keep you encouraged and inspired. I never thought I would make as much progress as I have in such a short amount of time and I have Moxie to thank for that, super grateful to have joined!
Very fun box to be at. Very experienced coaching staff and welcoming atmosphere. Highly focused on form and proper technique. Great box atmosphere where everyone is treated as family. Glad i made the decision to join Moxie
Dropped in to the gym. Good people, very welcoming, and the coach taught me a couple things. (Only have been doing Crossfit for 9 months or so; I have a lot to learn.)Note: Bring a water bottle. They dont have a drinking fountain.
I love Moxie because its more of a family than a bunch of people working out at the same time. The coaches are very involved, have always made me feel very comfortable and are always there to help when needed with form or questions, etc. Crossfit Moxie has made me enjoy my workouts!! Even the killer ones.
Very friendly trainers and motivating. I started the Crossfit 6 week Challenge and Im loving it. Im on day 4 out of 18, so Ill post pictures of my before and after. 😁 wish me luck.
