Let me start off by mentioning that yes i am a lady and this is a man place. I had previously got my hair cut multiple times by a barber named Anthony, but he no longer is in the barbering field. Always felt welcomed with him, but this was not the case with this other guy. I returned after a few years because I was looking to get an undercut again (I had longer hair but goal was to cut certain parts all the way off no extra styling), and the first thing the barber said to me is that he doesn’t do long hair but agreed to it after me explaining again that there wouldn’t be styling any of the long just buzzing the sides. I’ll be honest with you, what he cut was completely not even, I had to go somewhere else to get it straightened out. Not only that but the other barbers were just kind of being passive aggressive about my presence. Will not be returning.
Dope place. Got me looking cleannn. The guy who did my hair did an awesome job, Ill definitely be coming back next time. Thanks man
Been coming here for 12+ years! Best dudes and top notch treatment.
Cams the man. Usually I dont let ppl line up my beard, but he was on point with it 👌 hair looks proper too
The quintessential barber shop. Its a comfortable place, where they know your name, and provide an excellent quality haircut.
Outstanding, friendly, professional staff...Anthony, Oscar, Cam, Tom - all the guys are first class humans who enjoy their work, respect their customers and have serious skills. The shop is easy to find, plenty of parking, clean, fun and welcoming. Though a little pricey, what isnt in Silicon Valley!!! Highly recommend Johnny Ds
These guys are experienced and skilled barbers. They will listen to what you want and make helpful suggestions on how to get the look you want. I always leave with a great cut. I highly recommend Tom. I read a lot of complaints on here about preferential treatment for friends but this is a misperception. These guys treat customers like their own family and once you have been in a few times it’s like catching up with friends. The wait can often be long but so does every barbershop with good service.
Great cuts.
I just love this place! Great service, you get handled like a king and served by professionals. My man there is Tom, hes awesome, flexible and knowledgeable!
Seriously the best place to get a great fade or any type of hair cut for that matter. I’ve been going for over a year and I won’t go anywhere else. Very friendly and wonderful staff. There are only 5 chairs and the place gets busy fast. There are no appointments, you have to put your name on a list, the list gets posted outside the barber shop 1 hour before it opens so get there early.
Great place for boys and men’s hair cut. Unfortunately the price for a young boys haircut DOUBLED. I don’t know if I can continue to pay that price. Note to one business owner to another- if I doubled my prices I would have lost my clients. I rescently took over a dog salon and I needed to raise the prices (20%). I lost 1/4 of my business. I hope your business doesn’t suffer like I did. Great job on my young mans haircut.
A good haircut at a nice, inviting shop. The barbers are all great guys who enjoy their job and take care of you!
Johnny Ds has very skilled barbers. Thats obvious. The problem I had with this place is that the wait was always too long. Perhaps they are trying to create a sit and hang out vibe which is cool but not if you are looking for a quick in and out cut.The person that I preferred to cut my hair was very nice and professional but seemed to get annoyed that I would ask for something different each time. I like to try new cuts and do different things and I think he took that as me not liking his work. But maybe Im wrong and misinterpreted him. I feel like I can get an equivalent cut at half the price elsewhere.
Incredibly disappointing overall. It was my first time here today, but this place has a long line of people waiting as soon as it opens and is highly reviewed, so I thought it would be a pretty solid place to get a cut. I was able to get in right as they opened and had my hair cut by an older gentleman whose name I unfortunately didnt get.I showed a photo of the cut that I wanted - short sides with a slight fade, long on top with hair parted to the side and back, as well as a beard trim. Its a pretty standard cut and the photo was good enough so that no other barber ever had an issue getting it right. My barber glanced at it and assured me that he would take care of me...The actual cut turned out to be nothing like the photo or what I wanted. Theres no fade to speak of; the sides and back are pretty much buzzed. The hair in front is long, but gets extremely short at the back and at the top of the head, which is nothing like what I wanted... On top of that, the $15 beard trim was a 2-minute job and the barber didnt even touch the whiskers. I also asked him to keep the beard at the same length and he did - with the exception of my cheeks, where he shaved everything off. I dont understand why.Im sure theres a decent amount of technical skill here, but my barber made no effort to understand what I wanted exactly. He didnt ask me any questions about what I wanted during the cut - he made up his mind based on that one glance at the photo and he thought he knew what I wanted. This isnt how a GOOD barbershop operates. Lack of attention to detail during the beard trim is just icing on this crappy cake. And yeah, I wish I said something or complained after it was all done but there was no point - cant make hair longer after the fact.In short, this was incredibly, incredibly disappointing. I dont get the feeling these folks know much besides doing a few very basic, common hairstyles. I dont get the feeling they care. Like I said it was my first time but based on my experience today I wont be back, and Id never recommend this place to anyone. Please see my photos for the beard trim and judge the quality for yourself.Checked out other reviews on Yelp and saw two other one star reviews for a barber named Oscar, furthest station from the window... Their experience matches mine exactly and Im sure this was my barber as well. According to them the barber didnt listen and cut their hair much too short, leaving them with an awful cut. Once again, please beware if you do come to this shop... or rather, dont come at all. How or why this is allowed after multiple people complained about this thing is baffling... and think about how many just walked away unhappy without leaving a review.
Great place, fantastic service, courteous staff. New to the area and looking for a reliable barber shop. Went with Johnny Ds in response to the good reviews here, and was not disappointed.
Good, fair priced cuts. Great cut everytime. All the barbers are good but I love my boy Cam.
Thanks to Johnny Ds for making so many men look good while having a truly unique and awesome atmosphere. I am a woman, but I highly recommend this wonderful barber shop! Since there is a dog there, its the best place around!
This place is amazing. Everyone was friendly and professional.
For $30, its not worth it. 95% of the time youre in the chair, the barber is focused on talking and laughing with the other barbers, and the other 5% he is focused on you. The haircut itself was good, but DEFINITELY not $30 good. For that price you should get a little more individual attention and a better overall cut.
Great place for a quality hair cut. A little pricey at $40 for a basic hair cut.
Fairly pricy at 50$ a haircut, but well worth the ambiance, people, and quality of the haircut. I recommend them to all my friends.
Always fast, clean and great company, Anthony is my guy but everyone else there is legit and clean!
The barber who cut my hair made me sit looking away from the mirror the whole time even though I asked him that I wanted to see how he was doing. He seemed like a nice guy but was the leave it to me kind. Hair cut was not any better than a $15 haircut you get elsewhere. Never going back. Not worth $40.
Really good barber I go visit a lot of shops and this was a good one
Great place. My barber Tom was outstanding. However, prices are very high.
Each barber can give you a fresh cut every time. Anthony is the man. I highly suggest you visit this shop.
Great place, highly skilled barbers, friendly atmosphere......but pricey!
Cameron is the best one there he is the best barber in the bay area i 100% recommend geting you hair cut buy him 🔥🔥🔥
Prices are a little high, but my hair is my baby and if I want it done good I come here, most of the time in very happy
Great cut, friendly staff, the first come first served policy results in a pretty long wait (45-90 mins) if you come in on a weekend.
Excellent service. Got to spoil the fiance
DO NOT GO TO THIS BARBER SHOP. I WENT IN FOR A SIMPLE HAIRCUT AND I WAITED ABOUT 1 HOUR 30 MIN BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE BARBERS FRIENDS THAT WENT IN BEFORE ME THAT GOT FREE HAIRCUTS WHEN REGULAR CUSTOMERS HAD TO PAY 30. I WAS PISSED OFF AND FINALY WHEN IS GOT MY HAIRCUT THE GUY RIPPED ME OFF I WASNT GOING TO TIP HIM AT ALL BUT HE TOOK HIS OWN TIP WHEN I GAVE HIM A 50 DOLLAR BILL. THIS PLACE IS FILLED WITH YOUNG AMATURES THAT FAVOR THEIR FRIENDS OVER CUSTOMERS. HORRIBLE SERVICE THIS ISNT EVEN A BARBER SHOP ITS A HANGOUT
Big fan of this spot. Anthony and Cameron are both great.
My 10 year old grandson got his hair cut there and it was amazing, best cut ever now he is stlying.
Been going here for the last 5 years. Always get a great haircut.
Good old school barber shop
You might find a barbershop somewhere with a single barber whos as good, but this place is clean, upscale, has comfy seats, and every single barber here can cut. Well worth your time and money, just make sure to get here early on Saturdays, or youll wait 3h+ for your cut.
Most expensive hair cut Ive ever had, but a very nice one :)
I went into this place after reading some reviews and I gotta say i loved it, it is a lil costy but they are really clean and professional and do a great job. The only bad thing is the cash only policy other Than that is a great barber shop
30$ for hair cut a bit to much, but they have a skill.
Great cuts and a friendly staff!
Simply the best around and you pay for it too. Been going here for years after many disappointing and unfruitful endeavours to many other barber shops in the vicinity.
Ive been getting my hair cut here for 3 years. Not only do i get a great haircut, but im treated like family and its always an experience
Great service, great skills. All poor reviews are from people who dont understand business and not everything is perfect all the time, stop worrying itll grow back.
Been coming to this place for probably 5+ years. Their policy is first come first serve, but its not. Drove down from Almaden to get a cut, put my name on the list, and get passed up by 3 dudes who specified what barber. I dont put a name down because I felt all these guys can cut. Waste of time.
You can sign up and wait but if their friends come on after you its your loss very disappointed
Worse Barber shop in Bay Area, dont waste your time, maybe some of them have a skill, but not fair to new customer, In last 2 times I wait more than 2 hours ! their system is first in first serve, but some of customer their friends) served out of the line (Barber said he just on the list but left), Also 30$ only cash is expensive of their service.
Best barber shop in CA... Hands Down
Sign, website, and google maps list a 5 PM closing time, but when I arrived they told me they close at 4.
Worst hair cut ever dont go there
The barber wasnt so friendly and he spent maybe 6 minutes on my hair and charged me 30$. Worst hair cut I have ever had.
They think they know a lot.
Excellent service.
Very busy
Gr8 cut
They are that good!
Of the worst!! Bone they charge very expensive, for the type of work they do, apart from everything they tell you that the wait is approximately 45 minutes and results in more than 1:30 !!More than 3 hours for an adult and 2 children $ 70 dollars 7-28-17 1:00 pm and apart from everything they leave the change I gave them $ 80 and he just said thanks 😡😡😡👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
