This is a review for Arvin.I used to hate haircuts. Until the day I met Arvin and had the single best barber shop experience in three decades on the earth.Arvin immediately put me at ease, asking the right questions to make sure I got the cut I wanted (well, that my girlfriend wanted). From beginning to end, I could feel the professionalism, energy, and passion Arvin brings to his job.I could go on and on - the perfect temperature of the hot towel; the comprehensive debrief of what got done and why; the lavish attention with the straight edge to perfectly polish off my beard and hairline; the easy, unforced conversation; the attention to styling before I left the shop. This truly was a masterpiece in hair care.

I live in Noe Valley and for years have been going downtown to get my hair done. A year ago I had a schedule crunch and thought I would try Xcelerate as it was so easy to get to. To my surprise I got one of the best hair cuts of my life. They suggested different products for my hair which brought back a shine and bounce which I thought I had lost forever once I started dyeing my hair. I am not paying for an expensive rent or glamorous decor instead I am getting experienced and excellent people who listen to me and know exactly what to do. I could not be happier--as are my friends, since I look so much more attractive, blush.

Arvin is a fantastic barber and always leaves me feeling like a million bucks. His full service includes a haircut, wash, and hot towels. I always get compliments on the hard part he creates. I walk out feeling like a GQ model.

I am so disappointed. I went to Xcelerate today for the first time and had a terrible experience. My hair stylist was inattentive, on his phone half the time, moved stations 4 times while I was there, and spent less than 30 minutes on my hair because he had another (non hair related) appointment. If Im going to pay more than $75 dollars for a haircut, I expect a level of professionalism and attentiveness–neither of which I received.Overpriced for the terrible service. Maybe other stylists there are better.

I came to Xcelerate from a friends recommendation, and have enjoyed coming back for more than 3 years. The staff always make me feel welcome, and Tony always soothes my soul and makes me laugh as he works his magic on my head. Fun place too. Give it a try!

I moved out of the City two years ago, and one of the things I regret is that I am not as close to Xcelerate Salon as I was before. The salon is easy to get to and if youre good with street parking, there is unlimited street parking. The customer service is excellent, and I hope to try some of the other stylists on my next trip into the City.

I cant say enough good things about Lori - she has been cutting my and my husbands hair for years and now our teenagers go too. She is an expert professional and always does a great job. Also, I dont feel pressured at this salon to buy more products - it is a low-key place.

I have been coming to Xcelerate for facials from the incomparable Rema for several years. She has magic hands, a wonderful personality, and lovely products. It is a complete and relaxing pleasure to be in her care.

Excellent salon with kind, genuine, and highly experienced people. I got a great haircut here and also the best eyelash tint of my life. Wish I could go back but I moved across the country!

Lori Koon is my hair stylist and I am totally devoted to her and her magic scissors. My hair was never my crowning glory, tending to be fine, straight and, shall we say, not luxurious. She gives me a super cut thats easy to manage between visits, and I actually get compliments, sometimes from strangers, about how good my hair looks. Somehow she even gets it to look fuller. Shes fun to talk with, almost always on time or earlier, doesnt try to push products I havent asked for, and is an all-around sweet person. Her staff is friendly, her shop is clean and the atmosphere is relaxed. I couldnt be more satisfied.

My daughter got a cute haircut here, but make sure you make an appointment so you dont have to wait. One thing they do charge for is bang trimmings, which many places dont.Side note, I wouldnt suggest giving them your email address. If get almost daily emails from them, which gets really annoying. Even opting out of the email, I still get tons of emails from them.

I have very much enjoyed visiting Xcelerate and the fine staff there for the last few years. I very much appreciate Tony and Zev for their particular attention to detail and general coolness. I highly recommend a visit to this shop as it is also one block from 24th street, one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city.

Glen Flood - was absolutely wonderful and I will definitely be going back here again. All I had to do was show him a picture and he knew exactly what to do.

Tony is the best and I am always happy with my cut.

I discovered this place back when it was called Isas. Im a mom to young children and, sadly, never manage to get my hair cut regularly. Yet when I do, Im amazed again and again at the enormous difference in my appearance. Seriously: My hair is standard-issue long-brown-hair, but Tony is able to look at my ends, see through the mess to the gentle long layers he created for me, and fix me up in no time. (I have also, when Tony wasnt available, had Lori cut my hair as well, and shes equally terrific. I just really love Tony.)I am also a giant snob about haircuts. My worst fear -- okay, my worst HAIR fear -- is looking suburban. I dont need to look hip; I just need to not be mullety or frizzly. For the money, this is the consistently highest quality haircut Ive found in SF.Love this place.
