I would say, it’s a MUST DO for anyone who’s visiting in San Francesco. There’s so much fun!!You gotta pick different lengths of tours to explore the city with this cute yellow GoCar.There will be audio, or a tablet if you upgrade your car, introducing different sightseeing and spots along the way. We were amazed how accurate the GPS was.I recommend doing it earlier in the day as it gets chilly once the sun goes down. It’s better if you book your time ahead of time, if you wanna do walk-in, call first. It’s likely the have availability. After a long form and waiver, you would watch a 5-10min video teaching you how to drive the “car”! Spoiler alert, there is no reverse so you would have to pull back which would get REALLY funny when you are actually doing it on the street haha
I bought a 4-hour GoCar Tour experience for my boyfriends birthday. We both live in the City and would see these little yellow cars driving around on the weekend and my boyfriend thought it would be fun to do this ourselves. I was a little skeptical only because we already live in SF and arent tourists. But, we had a blast! There were so many new facts we learned about the City thanks to the included GPS (we named her Sunny) and sites around the Golden Gate bridge weve never seen before. I would definitely recommend purchasing a tour for more than 2 hours. I cant imagine only having the GoCar for an hour. There is so much to see and the usual SF street traffic eats away at time. Our 4-hour experience was the perfect amount of time and allowed us to stop at a few places for photo-ops and even Golden Gate Park for a 30-minute picnic. My only complaint was the disorganized process of obtaining the GoCar. I made an appointment 2 weeks before online for a Saturday morning at 10 AM. We arrived on time and didnt leave the office until 11:15 AM with our GoCar. I overheard the staff talking about being overbooked and not having enough keys. Luckily, we got our GoCar, but there were so many people behind us for their tours that I dont think everyone actually got a car that day. Definitely arrive early, and opt for the morning tours. Expect to wait awhile. I would still say its worth it and made for a very fun memory!
This was a grand experience. If you check in before 0930, you get 3 hours for the price of 2. This just added to our San Francisco trip. We were able to see several things that we would not have been able to since we were otherwise on foot. We went from Fisherman Wharf, to Crissy Beach and Coit Tower. Definitely worth the money.
A fun and different way to explore SF. They have 1 hr, 2 hr and 4 hr options. I highly recommend the 2hr option. Personally have only done the 1hr and felt it wasnt long enough to really explore. Also have guided tours available embedded in the vehicles so thats nice to have as you go by landmarks. But if youre looking just to visit the golden gate, 1hr is the way to go. Staff is friendly, rates are reasonable and the whole experience is memorable.
This was a great experience! Get out on your own private tour of San Francisco. This GPS guided tour takes you to all the stops the others take you, and then some. If you want to stop along the way, the GPS stops with you, and picks back up, when you take off. You have options. If you dont want to go see one sight, there are prompts, to either move on, or go see the sight. A little cheesy? Yes? A GREAT time? YES!!! Go out, explore, get the wind in your face, ride down Lombard hill. Make sure your co pilot has the camera! Take a ride, you wont forget it!!
This experience is unparalleled by so many others one could use to see the great city of San Francisco! The staff here was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about their craft. The one problem we experienced was with the navigation system not working exactly as it should. However, I would do this again in a heartbeat.
Definitely a MUST DO on your visit BUT be sure to get a reservation or you wont be able to get a car. We didnt find this out until we had stood in line for quite some time only to be turned away. Luckily, we still had time left in our vacation to do this on another day.TIMIng: We did the All day/8 hour and SO GLAD we did. Not sure how everyone else has enough time to see all the sights and stop at any of them and still make it back on time. We didnt get to stop at all the stops we wanted to due to running out if time and we had the all day adventure.Speaking of 8 hour day, keep in mind that you have to go back half way through your day to refuel. And start your day early or you wont get your full 8 hours of time. We got an 11 am reservation but didnt get to leave the lot and start until nearly noon. Then we had to be back to refuel and then return the car by 7 pm (close) so we really didnt get our full 8 hours and it left zero time for us to stop and eat during our adventures cause we wanted to see as much as possible. So know you may have to skip a few stops if you want to stop for food. The blue line tour GPS is not good at all. We unfortunately spent more time trying to get back in track than seeing the sights. There are a few good stops on this tour line so wouldnt recommend missing.
Some of the staff were a lil confused with my questions but overall, all of the staff were as helpful & nice as could be.We upgraded to the Acrimoto & SO HAPPY we did. The GoCars are not well-suited for 2 average nor plus-size humans. They are only good for 2 small, albeit petite humans. Since my friend & I are both plus-size, the Acrimoto ($50 more) was WORTH it!A plus-size person can drive the GoCar alone. 👍🏿The GPS was good but needs to be updated. The screen didnt always move with the marker. I had to move the screen often when I stopped at red lights of course. 😉I would definitely do this again. There were some spots I missed. Driving the Acrimoto was like a hood-motorcycle. So much fun!
Fun experience highly recommend it was my first time but I will definitely do it again for more hours its a fun way to drive around the city and experience the tour while you drive with another passenger the go car is for 2 people 1 driver 1 passenger during the tour you can stop and take as many pictures as you want the tour is based on how many hours you would like to drive it then you follow a certain map you get charged the hours your in the cart they give you a quick lesson on safety and how to use it before you get in the car...the staff is friendly and helpful
We took our 2 kids on a GoCar ride to the Golden Gate bridge. It was fun and educational. We got the 1 hr rental. We definitely recommend more than an hour rental so you can take everything in and stop to take photos. The employees were very nice and helpful when we got lost a bit along the ride. We will definitely do it again!
What a fun experience! Its such a unique and immersive way to see the city. I felt like I saw more of San Francisco in 3 hours than I have in the 3 previous trips here. The tour allows for you to stop and see as much or as little as you like, so each person can customize their experience. We loved seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco beaches, Golden Gate Park, and more. The cars can go pretty fast (+40 mph), so we felt comfortable zipping around the city. One annoying part was when we were trying to return the rental, the tour continued trying to show us thing and it was hard to get back! Otherwise, a serious highlight for a trip! Definitely give it a try.
This was a really great way to tour the city and overall helped us see all of the best spots SF has to offer. We booked 3 hours, but you definitely need at least 4 to see all of the spots along the red route and be able to hop off and explore with enough time to spare.I knocked off one star because we had a reservation at 10:30am and ended up having to wait in line for 1.5 hours to actually get in a car and begin the tour. They only had 1 person signing guests in until a 2nd eventually showed up. A tour company should have a better way of handling this. I don’t recommend booking this on ur final day of vacation if u have a flight or somewhere to be afterwards! besides that, the staff was friendly and the experience was very memorable.
Overall fairly straightforward process and quick. The young man that initially helpd us was very nice and helpful. All the folks here were helpful. Bathrooms available. The GoCar worked as advertised. Recommend glasses and make sure you get right size helmet. Along the tour there are various spots you can stop but if you stop you are very likely to go over your time and have to pay extra. Just be aware. Would do it again!
Full disclosure: I was ready to give them five stars. Then I noticed they overcharged me by 10%. No big deal, looked like a misunderstanding for when we left (you are charged based on usage). I assumed I could call and it would be a quick resolution.Instead, now I am writing a negative review highlighting all of the reasons not to use this company.1) The check-in process is inefficient and drawn out. Not a big deal except they are charging you from the time your reservation starts. So even if their old computer system is taking forever, you are paying for the rental.2) At times, the cart guide is obnoxiously loud. No way to control the volume or turn it off temporarily.3) Their customer service stinks. I didnt realize $15 was going to be a big deal when I was overcharged (when we spent ~$400). If I had known they were going to begin charging us at the time of the reservation, I wouldnt have been so patient as your team bungled the check-in process. These go karts are a ton of fun. As a local, they are a great way to see the city. But I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.
Is this a super cheesy tourist thing? Yes.Is it super awesome and totally fun? Also yes.Its a great guided tour of the sights of the city. The guide is very informative, and fairly quick with the directions. Just a couple minor misses, but half the fun is finding your way back.I would definitely opt for the $10 tablet upgrade. Seeing the map live makes it much easier.
This is definitely a tour everybody has to do. You set your own pace while enjoying all these amazing San Francisco sites. GPS on board with Guide to show you around. I highly recommend this tour.BUT make SURE you cover with the GoCar Tour agents all the prices and costs. There are some hidden costs for those who book via Groupon and that was a really unpleasant surprise. After this great tour, the receipt had finished to ruined my experience.
A must do! Fantastic way to see the city. Highly recommend. We were walk ins and had no problem getting one. Get there when they open.
We did the scooter gps tour and it was amazing and so much fun. The scooters were easy to use, even for me who is not as coordinated as my boyfriend. The tour was so informative and easy to follow. The staff was amazing and very friendly. In fact, we didnt get to finish the tour because the scooters have a two hour battery life and we didnt make it through the whole tour before having to head back to return the scooters. When we arrived they gave us a new battery and let us finish the tour, which completely made my day because the part we missed was the highlight of the tour. The business is very clean and takes all necessary sanitary precautions! This was definitely my favorite tour of all times and Id recommend it to everyone.
So much fun! What a great way to really see the city up close. We rented it for all day which means we werent restricted to a certain time frame and could enjoy things at our own pace. Every single time the navigation said things like if you want to get out and explore.... we did. I HIGHLY recommend. We did get lost and got separated from our other car, but it didnt really matter - we then just had our own experiences that we could later tell each other. I would do this again and again.
This was an awesome experience! I would recommend the 8 hour tour if you plan to stop, tour, and take EPIC pictures. If you are good with just driving and seeing with a few pictures, the shorter tours are good. If you have an odd number of people I would recommend still getting two go cars and not a go car/scooter. The scooters go slower than the go car, especially when they start to die.
Its a great way to see San Francisco, but getting started was a little frustrating. Apparently people who had rented the vehicles before us were not returning them on time and cutting into our time. It was quite confusing, even for the employees. We did finally get our GoCars and had a great time. I recommend using the GPS guided narration on the preplanned routes, makes the experience much more interesting.
The cars are an awesome way to see a lot in a single day. The guided tour was outstanding with a great variety of things you can see. Well worth the price. I would highly recommend doing them the first day you arrive in town. They are a great primer for more detailed trips later on. They afford you great opportunity to get some spectacular photos.
It was a great thought but they need to do better with the GPS process. We enjoyed riding around the city but with one wrong turn the GPS turns off leaving you to find your own way. We did the hour tour and was freestyle driving 30 minutes because we were lost. We had to use our phones GPS. In not happy about that because I paid $10 extra just to have the GPS. The go car drove just like your average go car.
Great sight seeing tour for spots around San Francisco. The audio was informative. Did the three hour tour early in the morning. Probably the best time since it gets hot later in the day. Sign up and sign the waiver online.
Loved it. We had about 11 cars. Had so much fun. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Would have received 5 stars but the GPS doesnt notify you when youve veered of course. Otherwise, everything was great and a lot of fun!
What a great time. Easy to reserve. Well maintained. Definitely would get a longer tour and spring for the visual gps.
Alex Cool was so helpful an informed. Experiencing San Francisco via go cart was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time.
Really fun experience! We did the 3 hour tour and felt like it was the perfect length of time. Highly recommend.
My husband and I are both in the obese category, but we fit comfortably and had zero troubles going up the hills and getting around. There were a couple of times that the GPS guide told us too late about a turn, or didnt tell us at all. We had to loop around to get back on the route. There were other times that, in order to keep with the flow of traffic, we went too fast by something so the guide couldnt finish telling us about a site before it jumped to the next thing. We had the car for 3 hours and saw all the sights we wanted to. The day we went was incredibly foggy so didnt stop much. On a clear day, we probably would have needed an additional hour. All in all, a fun way to get around!
Had the best time! So fun! Saw more of San Francisco in one day than I have in 5 other trips.
This is something worth try . Dont miss it . We rent it for one hour but next time definitely we go for 3 hours or more.
I called before purchase about my concern from another review about being early and these folks over book customers. Called around 1:20 spoke with a ln employee told me that the time I was to book will be okay and that I have no concerns about over booking. I purchased for 4:45 p.m. Please Im here now, went to reservations spoke with a guy who speaks so softly and he says, oh we are over booked by 30 cars, it could be 30 minutes to an hour. So I spent my $24.00 dollars for a cab to get here, I had the decency to call ahead and have to catch a flight late tonigh. So how exactly am I getting 2 hrs when they close at 8 p.m.?? I would not recommend them at all. I dont care how nice the scenery maybe. Being greedy and putting me out my way and recommending me to cancel is unacceptable.
Very loud combustion engines and tour audio, annoys local residents.Edit: Residents dont want to hear the same unsolicited trivia lines every day. You could choose to be a better citizen and invest in non-polluting (noise and environment) electric engines and quieter helmet audio. Downgrading to 1-star based on useless business response.
Great customer service. Cant wait to do another tour next time
I chose the 3 hours package and it was amazing. This is the perfect experience if you want to see what San Francisco has to offer. Bathrooms can be hard to find during the trip, especially if you have the longer duration ones, so make sure to plan accordingly. We did not make it back on time so we were charged about 95 cents per minute. As long as you follow the path presented, everything will go very smoothly. I did not pay for the visual GPS guide when I signed up online but was still given it. 😊The service was good. Check-in was smooth and so were the tutorials to how to use the Go Cars. I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely recommend it to other people. Make sure to check the weather and dress accordingly. We were really cold!
One of the funnest ways to see the city! Highly recommend this self drive option to catch all the major sites around fishermans wharf and beyond! Driving and navigating is a lot of fun and the convertible nature of the cars makes it a fun way to fluff up your hair under a helmet. I dont recommend doing this all day, the cars tend to vibrate a lot so after a few hours, your body and head will tell you to stop. But fun regardless! It can be a bit pricey and I recommend you make a reservation to guarantee a car.
Fun way to see the city, even if youre local!
It was amazing. So much fun. Everything as expected.!
The GoCar tours was actually pretty awesome until our cart broke down about 30 minutes away from the headquarters deep into a San Francisco neighborhood. In case of a breakdown, they have a phone number in the cart you are supposed to call. When our cart broke down, we called this number close to about 50 times in a 30 minute time period. No one answered. We called the sales line, the main corporate line, the repair line, and no one answered as we were stranded there in the middle of San Francisco as a tourist and as the sun began to set. It was quite terrifying that we were not receiving any help. We finally had to get our own Uber back to the headquarters since no one was answering the phone. The 30 minute Uber right cost about $40-$50. They refunded our trip that got cut 70% short because of the breakdown and when we asked about them refunding our Uber cost, since this was their fault, they ignored it multiple times so that is why they are getting a 1 star review.
Fantastic way to see San Francisco. Very fun. You have to remember, you’re out on the real streets riding along site cars and trucks in a big city. You have to be very careful. We found it easy to get off track, which is allowed, but again you must be very careful as there are huge hills all around San Francisco. This is not a real car. It’s got a small motorcycle engine. Tons of fun, but be careful!!
Seriously so much fun! After reading reviews, we decided to rent for the whole day....which was awesome. They told us to keep it all the way up to closing time. We saw SO much of the city and were able to stop and get out, walk around, have lunch, we even kept it out until dinner etc. The GPS narrator adds so much to the enjoyment to understand the history and information of the sites you see.I would suggest the owners need to update the recording in a few spots, like the Transamerica Tower isnt still the tallest building in the city (Salesforce Tower is now). But that is not at all a drawback to enjoying this fun way to see the sites. I highly recommend it.You kinda just need to own the nerdy, touristy feel. Like, we always honked and waved to people just to add to the nerd feel. Haha.
Be careful when they ask for insurance! They charged me more than the policy I chose, and never refunded me..
Really fun tour, even for a local. Learned some SF history. A bit of a loud and bumpy ride, but that really just adds to the fun. Nice crew at the shop.
The go carts are lots of fun and the staff are chill, helpful and make you feel very comfterble.
The wife and I had a BLAST on our date day cruising around and seeing things we normally dont get to. We did get lost 😏 I think that with a $500 deposit all carts should get the visual GPS tho.
So much fun. Easy to follow navigation. Helpful staff. Highly recommended
Did not think I would enjoy them that darn much but me and my daughter had a blast going down Lombard Street in a go-kart one of the most famous streets in the world and we are in a go-kart going down it
Friendly staff. The electric car upgrade is the way to go. It is comfy and speedy.
It’s a must if your in San Francisco, Ca. It was so much fun, there’s different packages to choose from and the guided GPS is very helpful for the additional charge. It gives you the history as your on the sight seeing tour. You can park and take pictures or stop and eat . Very enjoyable and memorable!
We had a lot of fun but count at least 20-30 between arrival and actually departing with the car. It opens at 10, maybe theres less queue if you arrive at 9:55, but at 11, even on a Friday, it was a long wait. You have to book in advance.
Tons of fun! A little stressful when traffic was busy but a great way to see the city!
Driving the GoCars was great and fun visiting a number of sites especially Lombard Street.
Great way to see SF. You get spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Be sure to watch your rental time if you have time limitations. Its easy to get carried away. Great tourist attraction!
All day tour for discount price is worth it. Had a blast and saw things I didnt know existed in SF. CARS are fun and easy to operate. 5 hours was plenty of time but we refueled and went off course for another hour.
This was One of the Best Ways to for the City! So much fun can be had, and you almost are your own Tour Guide!
Customer service was amazing. But the concept was dated. The China Town location was just too congested and not worth waiting for.
A different way to see the city. Had a great time.
Loved the car but waited 2 hours past appointment to get started, staff was very uncaring about the delays
Booked 2 gocars online and paid in full. On the day of the tours they charged my credit card twice more and now refuse to give me a credit. They will not return my calls. Had to file a dispute with my bank. Do not use this company. Very unprofessional!!
I had such a fun time zipping though San Francisco’s streets in this silly little 3-wheeled motorcycle in a flashy helmet. Awesome photo opportunities everywhere. We got the early bird special which is 9-12 (but due to long line, we didn’t get out until 9:50). If I had to do it again, I would take the full day tour (as we could only do the short version of the tour)..and plan for some stops. The GPS tour is probably the highlight, since it points out historical facts along the way. And adds some humor. Made a few wrong turns. But it wasn’t a big deal. Found our way back just in time.
Come here if you want to enjoy a self driven tour of San Francisco. You really dont want to miss this opportunity.
Great way to see the city. The audio tour was very cool and had some information we would have not known otherwise.
If you have a chance please experience very fun
YOU HAVE TO DO THIS!!!This was seriously the best 4 hours of fun we had in SF. I’m a big guy and 183cm but I had plenty of room for me and my 17 year old nephew, and easy to get in and out of. This is such a great way to see the sites. With the built in GPS / Tour guide it’s just perfect. You can go at your own pace and stop for photo ops and even lunch like we did. This is $$$ well spent and you won’t be dissatisfied 😊👌🏻we’ll be doing it again when were next in SF.
What an awesome experience even for residents, especially in these times when youre vying for some outdoor fun and distraction. We took the full day and just traveled around SF ticking off all the must see-s. Only thing is make sure the weather is good so you can actually enjoy the go car and the sights!
Had a really nice time touring the city.
So fun my wife loved it, a little advice.Make an appointment to avoid long lines.Get a jacket if is not summer is gonna be cold.Get the red line trip is the best.Have fun... Going back with all the family.
It was an awesome experience and will definitely doIt again! First time in San Francisco and this experience was amazing, views was breath taking, and it was so much fun!! The gps was on point. The boss very nice and definitely cares about his customers .
Such a great way to see the city and cover a lot of ground!!
Made online reservations at a certain time. Showed up 30 mins early and still had to wait in line 1 hour past the time on my reservation to see an attendant who just made sure we had completed the waiver. It did not help that we had to wait in the cold outside of the building due to CoVid restrictions. Once we were able to actually get in the go car, it was a good time. Overall fun concept, but very poorly run.
Cars are decent. Nothing to get real excited about.
Really, really fun thing to do! We came there to have a look at a lot of attractions in SF but with this GoCar we also became the attraction for others. Something to get used to, but we can totally recommend doing it. Its a great tour that leads you through a lot of parts of the city with a nice audio tour with it. Only mistake we did: we didnt take enough time. We did 3 hours and could have done easily 6. Keep that in mind. Otherwise its also a good way to get inspiration of what youd like to see later on after the tour. Staff was also extremely friendly!
So much fun driving the GoCar around the city with a GPS.
This was sooooo much fun! We went on a 2 hour GPS guided tour. The GPS is on the speaker while you drive around and tells u the history and fun facts of everything around you. Someone is not driving along with u u can go by ur lonesome or with a group,, but u can explore on ur own (but by the GPS guided) The workers at the location are really nice. Theres a restroom at location in case u need to use it. Its hard to find parking on the street so u might have to park in the paid parking which ur looking at $35 dollars. Personally the 2 hours was just enough! We stopped a lot and took pics and roamed around. I highly recommend this! U get to see soooo much stuff!
Super fun. Easy to drive. Great to tour around the city.
Wow! We saw all the sites on a GoCar! You can drive it on a tour or just get lost having fun! This was such an amazing experience! We literally saw it all! Even the music it plays cruising on a map tour was hilarious. Parking is super easy and everyone is trying to figure out where you got one. Thanks again!
