We love Sylvan! Everyone is professional and friendly! We’ve checked out multiple centers around San Francisco, and we’re so thankful that we picked Sylvan. Lance, at the front desk is very personable! He gives the kids weekly riddles that are fun and challenging. My middle school kids look forward to seeing Lance and meeting with Izzy every week! She’s patient, encouraging, and most important of all, she makes learning fun, where they don’t feel like it’s “torture.” I would recommend Sylvan to anyone who thinks their child is a little behind or even if they feel like their child can do better. Sometimes, kids just need to find that tutor who they feel comfortable working with.

My son is taking classes at Sylvan San Francisco for 3 months and I definitely see a great academic improvement. They helped my son to catch up on writing and right now He is in a better position to start middle school. Teachers are very professionals and the staff there is very helpful.

My kids have recently started going to Sylvan. They both get excited on the days that they go. The teachers have patience with them and their methodology works. They also have great communication with the parents when it comes to report the students’ progress, plan schedules, etc. Overall my kids and I are very happy.

I would recommend this center to anyone. It’s been around in the same location for a long time, nicely updated and clean. The staff are professional and personable. The open and quick communication is spot on, via text or email for me, making it really convenient. From assessments to tutoring, my kids have flourished over these past few months. The pandemic has made learning a challenge at home. But with both kids coming into the center and getting the help then needed, it’s made doing school at home more manageable, and they’re more eager and productive with their learning. We started Sylvan after some concerns about our first grader being able to learn or engage with distance learning. We have been very happy with the program and the progress we have seen after just one month. She loves going. Our daughter: Ive had so much fun learning math and playing games and learning to read!

My grandson been going to Sylvan for last year and half. When COVID hit we were doing his learning online by way of zoom. When in classroom open up but limited students. We took the opportunity to bring him in the center. The staff was great keeping the center clean and safe. Lance, Ken and Julie are very helpful, helping my grandson with his needs, Ken always keep a close contact with me, on my grandson status. Julie is a great instructor, very patient dealing with my grandson ( which sometimes can be a handful).

The tutoring services offered at Sylvan has helped my child out a great deal. He regularly attends virtual sessions and has been for the past few months. It has made a difference in the confidence he has in reading, reading comprehension and use of vocabulary. I have noticed a big difference in such a short period of time. The tutors have reinforced the concepts taught at school and also given him additional tools and practice for application. Our son looks forward to each session and actively participates because he is eager to learn more. The timing of our sessions work really well for us and there is a good amount of flexibility to allow for changes if needed.A big thanks to Ken for keeping us apprised of our son’s progress with regular check-ins and detailed progress reports. We are aware of where our son currently stands and how much progress he’s made since the last check-in. We continually work together to develop a customized plan for our child.

Hi I am a student at sylvan learning center. I do the sylvan edge program which is nice because I get to work more independently. Donnie along with other teachers are very nice and supportive of my learning. The location is convenient and close to many stores and restaurants. I recommended sylvan learning center.

My son enjoys going to Sylvan for tutoring. He has shown improvement in all the subjects he is working on.

My 8 year old started in Sylvan in October 2020 and has been loving it. She goes to SFUSD that has been online only since March which has been really hard on her. Sylvans in-person sessions brought sense of normalcy to her life and help her with her academic growth. We are grateful for all Sylvan staff, especially the teachers and Ken who has been keeping me up to date on my daughters progress.

My 8 year old son has been going to this facility for almost a year and we absolutely appreciate how accommodating they are in regards to schedule flexibility. If we need to change our schedule or switch a day, they are quick to offer an accommodation or a schedule change recommendation.My son never complains when I drop him off or if he has to switch to an online class. He enjoys the instructors and staff. We saw a significant improvement with his reading this past year. His favorite part is accumulating reward points and redeeming them for prizes. It motivates him to save up!

My son has shown an improvement in reading and writing since attending Sylvan Learning Center for the last 5 months. We like the flexibility of in-person tutoring or zoom sessions. They follow Covid protocols so I am comfortable sending my son 3 times a week. I like that I was text to reschedule sessions and they always reply in a timely manner.

Sylvan is a great place to take your kids. It helps them with their learning skills they may need help with. I highly recommend to take them here if they need help. Or if they dont and just need some help with homework like that they can help too.

Both of my kids attend for Math tutoring. They always leave in a great mood and the tutoring has really helped them at school. I like that I can text the center and they respond immediately. They are also very good with Covid protocols and social distancing.

Sylvan staff were fantastic at getting to know our child, finding out what he does well and what he needs help with doing. Then, they paired him with a lovely tutor who was a great fit for him and who accomplished much more with him than any other tutor so far. In fact, after his summer writing course, our previously reluctant learner asked to continue with his tutor throughout the school year. We are very grateful of Sylvan for finding a great match for him and an excellent plan for success.

Our 1st grader was struggling with remote learning again this year. She needs in-person teacher interaction, and Sylvan is the perfect solution. The onsite program compliments the SFUSD distance learning curriculum and gives her the confidence she needs to be successful at school during these difficult times. Anna, Kelly, and the whole team have been wonderful to work with and so helpful in setting up a schedule that works for our family. I highly recommend Sylvan!

I am very thankful for the Sylvan Team at West Portal, they have been helping my daughter along the past 6 months since SIP Covid. It’s the the one thing that keeps all of this chaos around us- routine and some what normal- even if it is by Zoom! The communication is great, they always text and are open to quick calls when needed, I highly recommend them!

Sylvan has been exceptionally positive and beneficial for our fourth grade daughter. Never having gone through any sort of tutoring previously, we werent sure what to expect - but its really helped us get things on track and been a big win for our family.

The director and staff at this Sylvan location in West Portal are all very responsive. I appreciated their quick and thorough evaluation and their offer of programs to meet my needs. I signed up right when the shelter-in-place took effect, and we started with virtual sessions. It has worked great and has been one important way that my daughter has continued learning in this time of virtual classrooms.My daughter’s Sylvan teacher Maggie has kept her engaged, and she actually enjoys going to each session. I have no problem getting her to sign on for Maggie’s lesson, and that is a big plus! Moreover, my daughter has told me that Maggie is teaching her things that she missed or did not understand in class, and this has helped her to catch up. I will likely sign my daughter up for summer sessions, too, so that she can be prepared for middle school in the fall.

I cannot say enough about Sylvan Learning. My daughter was pretty behind due to her last year at school and the very expensive private school (Mission Montessori), doing an absolutely terrible job of educating. When COVID hit, and schools closed, i decided to have my daughter start Sylvan Learning. We were doing one Reading and one Math Class a week for a few months and my daughter got caught up in no time at all! Julie has been an awesome teacher for my daughter. We still have continued through the summer with one class per week and also now since school has started and she has progressed to a level i would never have expected. She is bright and Sylvan challenged her and pushed her unlike her old school which she was bored in.

My son really enjoys his tutor and the way he helps him with his academics. his math and reading skills has improved a lot ever since he started.

Whatever they’re doing is definitely working. In a very short time, my kiddo’s reading has jumped a couple of levels and she’s always excited to show up for her sessions!

We have had a great experience with Sylvan West Portal. All of the tutors have been really kind, patient and knowledgeable. They are also flexible for busy students. Staff is wonderful and responsive as well!

The tutors at Sylvan really helped my kids Improve their test scores and learn more in school. They increased my son’s reading level and helped them really enjoy math. They are patient and nice.

We joined Sylvan when our daughter was struggling with writing in 4th grade. In a matter of a few months she was no longer fighting and crying about writing projects at school. We stayed on with Sylvan and she started taking math tutoring and has become very comfortable with tackling challenging math problems. She also went through the HSPT prep class, survived the test, and got accepted into an elite Catholic school with honors, although in the end we decided to stick with SFUSD. This week my daughter started high school and is thinking about taking on an extra math class so she can further excel in her education. Thank you Sylvan for all you have done for my daughter. My now 5th grader has been doing a writing class with Safia since the summer. Given that he has been in a Chinese immersion school, he needed extra assistance and support with writing. He really responds well to Safias feedback and his writing has improved. The fundamentals of writing are being reinforced which has been particularly importance since school closed in the Spring and is DL in the fall. I highly recommend Sylvan!

Just started Sylvan 3 weeks ago for my 9 year old son. He attends 3 hours a week and so far, so good. He does not mind it so far even with a couple hours on Saturdays. Sylvan Learning of San Francisco has really turned Bs into As and is great for all sorts of subjects. All the teachers that are employed there are super friendly, and enjoy welcoming your kid into a new area of learning.

Sure enough, I got the results I was expecting. I had been chosen to be helped with writing. Then they showed me the upstairs where I was supposed to work. Ever since, I kept going there every Wednesday and Saturday. I had improved so much working there that one of my elementary school teachers had said my writing had exploded. Also if you are a person that wants to be here at Sylvan, do a review like this for 200 tokens. You will see why you want those. Well, overall the experience there is amazing and interesting as it gives you an environment which makes you feel comfortable. That is all I have to say.

Sylvan tutoring has been very effective and beneficial to my children. In less than eight weeks of tutoring, my son gained confidence in reading and moved into the next reading level. Janice is intelligent, an education expert, and will guide you and your children in an appropriate and timely manner. Sylvan learning Center in West Portal is a great place. My daughter has been attending for about 3 years.
