Any trip to San Francisco is bound to include sightseeing. There is much to see and quite a bit of scenery to soak up and one of the best ways to see some of the highlights is by boat. There are a few boat tour services offered and the one I tried and loved is the Red and White Fleet. This tour service departs from Fisherman’s Wharf so it was extremely convenient for me and my family since we were staying at a hotel right by the Wharf. The service offers several options, like a cruise to the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz; a cruise to the Golden Gate and San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge; and others. The tours last about an hour to ninety minutes, and they even have a sunset cruise for those who prefer to see the area at dusk.Walking onto the boat, my family and I made our way to the top deck, which is open- air with bench seating. This is where you will get the best views. If the weather isn’t too your liking or you start to feel cold, just walk down to the middle deck. If you want something to drink or a snack, they have you covered for that as well, on the lower deck. This cruise is excellent for taking in the sights of the bay and the highlights are the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. Angel Island is also in full view, and you get nice view of downtown. In addition to the memorable visuals and photo ops, you also get to learn about the history of the area through the narration. Keep in mind that the narration isn’t conducted by an actual person. Instead, it is recorded. Some may not prefer this, but I liked it because there was no problem hearing what was being said and it was clear and well- edited. If you miss something or have questions, they have people on board who can easily assist.San Francisco is one of America’s most popular and memorable cities for a reason. The Red and White Fleet is an excellent way to see some of the highlights of the city and to learn about its history. It runs seven days per week and departs from Fisherman’s Wharf, so it’s easy to find. Book a cruise on the Red and White Fleet yourself, soak up the scenery, and educate yourself on the San Francisco area and its many charms.
1 rule make sure you are in line 1.5 hours early before departure,we missed the boat 4 times in 1 day because the lines were 100 plus, the next day we were 1.5 early 12th in line..its clean the staff are friendly and very helpful theres also restrooms and a snack bar with soda, wine, beer, hot, chocolate ect.yoyr can sit up top or on the other 2 floors,if its windy or early bring a throw blanket because it gets cold out there, the boat actually goes fast and they play the history of places over the microphone. Prices are reasonable. 5 stars I went twice will go again..
This was one of our favorite attractions in SF. A very nice boat ride around the Golden Gate and Oakland Bridges. Also a quick tour around Alcatraz. Their boats look better kept than other boat businesses in the area. It was very easy to purchase tickets online. The location is very easy to find. The staff is very friendly. Worth our money. Glad we did the tour.
A lot of fun! A great way to see the golden gate bridge and a ride around the Alcatraz island. We got super close to Alcatraz which was neat to see the details. I also enjoyed the audio of random facts. The snacks and drinks were a bit pricey. Also bring a jacket, it is super windy and hold onto your sunglasses and hat!
The bathrooms were very clean and that says volumes about the company, there was a line and we bought our tickets a few days early. The line moved quickly. We went on the top deck and it was quite chilly so take a coat and be prepared for the cold wind. The tour was the perfect amount of time being one hour. We ended up moving to the inner lower deck and toy still have great views because of the large windows. They let you take on your own food or snacks or you can buy drinks and snacks on board. They are very organized and friendly so give this tour company a shot as one of your excursions to see the bay and the golden gate bridge.
We really enjoyed our tour with Red and White Fleet (we did the 1 hour bday tour). At first I was thrown by the fact they used pre-recorded audio for the tour, but it was high quality and synced perfectly with the locations. In the end I think it was actually a little nicer than a live tour despite losing some of the soul of a live tour. It was entertaining and informative. 100% recommend 👍
This is under priced because the experience was worth way more than what they charge. Bring your own food and drinks and enjoy a great educational cruise with your friends and family. Very clean and safe and the employees were all very kind. Go on a weekday if you dont like crowds, I went on a Monday and it was perfect felt like we had the boat to ourselves.
This was an amazing experience through this agency, they provide three floors for views and seating. Even with the current Covid situation they did good in following protocol and trying to maintain distance between people on the ship. There is also a bar on the first floor which allows you to enjoy a great drink while enjoy the tour between Golden Gate and Bay Bridge and circling around Alcatraz
By far our favorite San Francisco memory during our quick stay. Dont skip this excursion! The food was surprisingly good, the singer with acoustic guitar was lovely, and the views of the city and bridges were breathtaking. We are from Florida and were absolutely freezing in July -- dress warmly in layers!
Great experience. When in the bridge to bridge tour with my kids. They had a lot of fun. Watch out for parking lots in the area. Some cars in the parking lot had windows broken.
Quite a pleasant experience. Goes under Golden gate bridge, turns back and goes till bay bridge. Will go near Alcatraz along the way. Theres a bar the steamer. We took the 1 hour ride in the afternoon.
A very touristy attracting, but still fun. The narration offers a lot of background and history of San Francisco and the various sites. Be prepared for a ton of wind if you’re sitting at the top level.
We had a great time. We took the sunset cruise and went under the golden gate bridge! We also went around Alcatraz! The ship has 3 floors. Highly recommend going to the top floor and enjoy the weather (bring a jacket) since it gets windy. There is a snack/coffee shop, and coffee is cheap, but the line gets PACKED immediately, so beware or bring your own drink. There is music, so some people starts dancing on the top floor haha jist having fun!Lastly, sit and relax! Totally worth the price!
A fun experience! My husband and I visited from out of town & it was easy to find and check-in with SP parking right across from it. I loved the onboard bar & snacks. It was a beautiful trip. I would only recommend the narration audio be a little louder because it was hard to hear. Other than that, it was a great experience.
We did the sunset tour and we highly recommend it if you want a relaxed beautiful evening. Bring a jacket as it does get chilly on the outer deck, but well worth being outside. You get to see the different bridges, Alcatraz, Angel Island, and several other stops. It is relaxing, beautiful, and the crew makes it a great experience. Incredible sunset experience!
Great cruise of the San Francisco Bay including the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. NOTE: BRING WARM CLOTHES.When you board the boat you are provided with a personal audio tour recording device as well as headphones. Just power it up, select your language, set the volume, and you are all set. The devices are small enough to set in a pocket and come with a clip if you prefer to clip it to your pocket or belt. After the ship gets under way the recorded tour guide starts up. The timing of the recording was well done. There are several decks from which to choose. We went to the top deck, which is open. The weather was great so there was no reason to stay on a lower deck. However, as stated above I recommend you bring at least a jacket and light gloves if you wish to stay on the open, top deck. You will encounter some areas where the breeze (or wind) will get very chilly. Some individuals did end up retreating to lower decks when we encountered the chilly spots.Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the cruise. We had a great time and got some nice photos too.
We have taken the 2019 4th of July Fireworks Cruise. As mentioned earlier in the reviews, it was cloudy this time too, but the clouds cleared half way through. The top part of the fireworks were still under the clouds. Cruise was positioned exactly how it has to be to get a clear view of the fireworks. We were just in time to board the cruise and they allowed people up-to 5 min later. Cruise experience was extraordinary. Excellent staff and very well maintained cruise. Drinks and snacks were available too. Its better to catch the earliest cruise of the evening to stay in the bay for long as all of them stay in the bay till the fireworks end. Except the clouds which is just a gamble for the day, experience was to be cherished.
There are many boat services around the Bay area but having used these guys twice I can highly recommend them.Any ticket purchased online is valid for 365 days which I very handy as the weather in San Francisco can be extremely unpredictable (as it was on my last visit). This is the best was to see Alcatraz, both the Bay Bridge and world famous Golden Gate Bridge close up and San Fran as a whole from the water.
Cool cruise... well maintained vessels... articulate narration. Strong and organized crew. Overall an excellent experience.
The Bay cruise was great, a wonderful way to see the city. Definitely worthwhile!
I was looking forward to this Bridge to Bridge Cruise since I booked this trip in October. We did the 2 hour Hornblower San Diego Harbor Cruise in September and had a great time. On Wednesday when we showed up for the cruise it was raining lightly. We had our pre-paid picture ticket and took a nice picture as we bordered. We stayed our on the bow from the start of the cruise in spite of the light rain. The best pictures are taken outside. We approached the Golden Gate Bridge. I had already taken over 40 pictures, each better than the previous the closer we got to the bridge. When we were right upon and under the bridge in was raining harder. I got some great pictures but rain drops on my lence. As we turned around to head to the Bay Bridge, I toughed it out as long as i could. The rain intensified as we were approaching Alcatraz Island, and it took its toll on me. By this time my husband and I were the last two still toughing the rain. We went inside to get out of the rain and dry off. I tried to take pictures out the window, but rain drops make that nearly impossible. I missed the second ½ of the cruise with the opportunities for perfect pictures of the San Francisco Skyline and of course the Bay Bridge. Overall I enjoy the cruise and I did get some good pictures. The weather cant be blamed of Red and White Fleet. They fulfilled their promised cruise. If I visit again I will plan a spring or summer Bridge to Bridge tour.
We really enjoyed the sunset cruise. If you dont have the time or just prefer to hit a lot of the San Francisco sites in 1 swoop this is a great option. They provide a light meal, alcoholic drinks are available to purchase, and live music is played throughout. We didnt get much of a sunset, but it didnt matter, it was still great.
We had a beautiful day. The narration was wonderful. Highly recommend it
Excellent sunset cruise. I loved it. Nice music, food and just awesome views. This is a must for everyone who’s visiting.
We were there at 3.41 pm for the cruise of the San Francisco Bay. The tour started at 4 pm and lasted for aprox. 1 hour or more. It covered a long distance in the bay we could see the San Francisco Skyline, The famous Alcatraz island which was used as a state prison also shown in the Hollywood movie The Rock. And of course the famous Golden Gate bridge from down under. But mind you its very cold and windy on board the ship also a little bumpy due to small waves in the bay. So be careful with your cameras, mobile phones and handycams while shooting, they could fall over in the bay if you are careless. The ship was big with to observation decks. If you feel cold you can sit in the covered cabin on first deck. Lots of sitting arrangements. If you need to use the restrooms they are on the lower deck where you enter the ship. They also give you headphones and a transmitter on which they have live commentary about the places and their history in the bay. You can see board surfers or kite surfers in the bay. Magnificent views of San Francisco and the bay from the cruise. No wonder its the main attraction of San Francisco.👌🏼👍🏻
Best way to see the city in one tour. Pack a coat! A jacket will not be sufficient.
Loved the Bridge 2 Bridge cruise (The Golden Gate, cruise by Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge, beautiful San Francisco skyline) Spectacular view. Super nice staff.
Relaxing and informative. Lots of tables and chairs inside with fully functioning bathrooms and a snack bar. Bridge to Bridge cruise is narrated with head phones and a transmitter box you can clip to your belt.
Amazing boat cruise gives tour of Golden gate bridge and Alcatraz island. Worth 60 mins on a sunny and windy day.
Ship was clean, on time. Very informative during the cruise in the bay.
Been several times when playing tour guide for visiting family. They have a couple different options for boat rides that include a 3 hour and one that is shorter. The longer goes all along the coast and the shorter one just circles Alcatraz. They have headsets that will do an audio guide throughout each one. Discounts are available online if you pre-order tickets.
The cruise had amazing bay view including pier 39, fisherman’s wharf, Golden Gate Bridge And Alcatraz prison. Audio guide was good too.
For the last 2 years we have booked with the Red and White fleet to watch the Blue Angels during Fleet Week. This year, on the Friday, the Blue Angels started half an hour late. The ferry captain was nice enough to extend the trip a little so that we could still watch the show from the water. That was a very nice thing to do and it was noticed by a lot of us on the boat.
This was an excellent tour. Worth the price.
A really nice boat tour with an audio guide that tells you some history about the city. You can get some amazing photos.
Nice attraction! The boat was clean and comfortable, staff was nice. One of the boats they now have in their fleet is electric! Go green!
Good boat ride to see the bridge and Alcatraz. Seemed as though the boats were at full capacity and people were crowded together. Drinks and such were sold onboard so the mask policy was somewhat useless as people would leave their masks off the whole time.
Its a tour bridge to bridge its the best you can do for a boat trip, you see the city and the golden gate bridge and bay bridge as well they tell you the history of san Francisco.
Even locals will love the new angles of ggb and Alcatraz!
The best all around cruises ofSan Francisco Baythat you can take Super professional and courteous Crew..My son and i had the best time... Definitely recommending and doing It again
I have taken the Bay Tour and the Sunset Tour with the Red & White Fleet. Both tours were god experiences. The views are amazing. The boat is nothing fancy, but there is space to move around and you can buy basic food and drinks.I would recommend only going on a day with good weather because the tour would be rather pointless if there were no view.
Interesting and helpful narrative to accompany tunning views.
Hour long cruise with nice narration about SF and the bay.
Ship cruise cost $42 for 1,5 h for adult between 2 bridges. Children under 5 are free. They offer a audio guide in different languages.
Awesome experience with our family of 5 from AZ. Louise in ticket sells went above and beyond to accommodate our family’s needs when it came to moving our reservation around. We enjoyed the beautiful views of the bay, San Francisco history, as well as the friendly captain and staff. Highly recommend!
Was a good ride
Perfect experience for our vacation! If youre visiting SF, you want to take some time to take this tour! Fantastic crew and delicious drinks! There was enough seating for everyone to social distance as well.
I love this boat!! It was so windy but beautiful!! Recommend it :)
It was a beautiful Sunset. The tour was very worthy of the price. Great Family entertainment.
Good cruise. We went on the 90 minute Bridge 2 Bridge tour. You can listen to the audio as you go. Boat was clean. Tour narrative was interesting. Definitely worth the time.
The boat was very clean with comfortable seats, we did leave on time
What a fabulous boat company! They have many boats in their fleets so the tours go quite frequently throughout the day. They have a new boat called the EnHydra that is totally clean energy. They take trips up and down the bay during the day, sunset, and during the night. They have food and music, you can walk around freely. This is the way to see San Francisco from the water.
Good experience. Great views. Crew very helpful n cheerful
If you want to experience great views and learn about the deep history of San Francisco, then this tour is perfect for you.
Awesome. It was our first stop in a week long California trip. We were impressed.
I took the bridge to bridge cruise. The view from top was awesome. Good playback with history of most places in San Francisco, it covered Alcatraz as well.
It was an ok tour. For the price, I would recommend it. Just make sure to bring your own headphones, because the ones they have there are no good at all. And if that fake blonde lady is there behind the bar, watch out because she don’t like it when you interrupt her Netflix watching. She gets maaaaad and starts yelling to everybody! And, like she would say when she has to put away your headphones, “I don’t get paid to do this shit”
Nice bay cruise! Very chilly... take a sweater!
Loved this!!! Great way to see SF Bay and landmarks. Go!!
You can get some great pictures from the cruise. The audio tour guide receiver kept skipping back and forth between the tour, but other than that it was a great tour.
Loved the ride. Audio guide was nice, also in German and Italian, but not perfectly synchronized with the ride. Bring your own headphones if you can.
Very clean, super friendly staff and a great tour for a fair price
Had a great time, listening to the History of San Francisco. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, the ship qas clean and had plenty of bathrooms. They also had snacks, beer and non alcoholic drinks for sale. You should wear or bring a sweater and a rain pancho, cause that fog is no joke at all.
Loved the bridge2bridge tour. Great view 👌
Great tours of the bay with this cruise company. Staff is always attentive, friendly and helpful. Was on the New Years Eve Cruise of the bay, great display of fireworks, best view on the bay, including the San Francisco skyline, lights of so many historic buildings.
Too crowded for the ticket price, it would be better to go on one of the private tours. I went on a pretty crowded tour in London England and we had a tour guide that used a microphone to go through the history, on this tour, they gave us headsets not nice and probably not clean and it was pre recorded tour that was difficult to listen to. I felt like I could have sat in a library and listened to an audio recording of San Francisco’s skyline and had a better experience.
It was a good experience, I liked listening to history of San Francisco, and the views were good. The only flip side is during the summer the fog can prevent from seeing the most popular landmarks, overall the it was a great experience
Awesome crew people ... wonderful and memorable time spend with family
I would recommend the boat tour if you like history and want to get out on the water.
Great time! Definitely recommend the Bridge 2 Bridge ride
Awesome tour:Bridge 2 Bridge, amazing views informative tour with Audio
Had a wonderful time. Beautiful views and historic audio tour.
Arrive on time regardless of your circumstances as the company does not allow refunds and all sales final. No refunds regardless, but thats how they run their company.
Great little cruise around the bay. Loved the included audio tour. It was very pleasant and informational.
Fun, informational and entertaining. Take the cruise youll enjoy it... Provided you dont get sea sick because your a landlover that is...
