I wanted to report the issue I’ve had with the owner of the vehicle. The owner was dishonest about how we would take care of the transaction with a vehicle. Initially he said he would accompany when I went to make payment for the vehicle having two scratches. Then he changed it and starting harassing me all today about payment then he didn’t want to take the car to shops so they could give me an estimate on the vehicle. The owner goes to tell me he will not be taking his car to get service he already had someone. I ask him for the phone number and the person name so I could give them a call to confirm charges. He gave me the information but the person never answered the phone and I called 3 times. The host sends me another message asking when he was going to receive payment and why do I need to speak with the repair guy. I didn’t have a issue with sending payment. I had an issue with the price/ didn’t receive an estimate and wanted to confirm. Then he sends me this. Please see below. I sent him the $350 for the scratches to the vehicle but I want to make sure he doesn’t come back with something else later. Because he was not honest about anything and harassed all today about payment. And I’m not sure the person he claimed he sent pictures to was a real person because I wasn’t able to get anyone on the phone. Turo hasn’t helped with my situation at all. I will not be using again.
Absolutely horrible customer service! I signed up to try to rent a vehicle using Turo. After filling out my information, I booked a vehicle. The booking was cancelled shortly after because they needed to complete a verification process. The verification process has now drug out for four days, and still is not complete. I connected with them through phone, but was told I would need to correspond through email. I did so responding with all the pictures and information they requested. Day 1 - I sent over A picture of my credit card, a picture of me holding my drivers license beside my face, and a picture of my drivers license by itself. They requested more info - Upon their request I sent in a gas and electric bill with my address, and a notice of assessment with my address so they could verify it was the same as my license. Day 2 - no response to any of my emails requesting an update So I sent a picture of my passport in case it would speed things along. Day 3 - They finally respond saying that the notice of assessment I sent was not valid because I did not show the entire document… I only showed the top of the letter with my name and address from the government, and did not want to show my earnings. I resent the notice of assessment letter with the full page as well as an Internet bill with my home address just so they had another piece to hopefully speed things along. This was sent in the morning within minutes of their request. After getting no additional responses from them from than the rest of the day, I also sent in a picture of my registration and insurance, and once again stated the urgency of getting this complete. It is now four days since I started the verification process And still nothing is done. What a waste of time! I guess I am going to have to book a conventional rental vehicle since I will need the vehicle in two days. I am trying my hardest to spend money with this company but I guess they can’t get organized enough to let me. Oh, and through this process I had four different names emailing me over four different days with the responses to my documents, so no consistency with having someone finish this process
Good app overall but BEWARE of their insurance. It does not have you back covered as advertised. If you are a host, make sure that you take very detailed, high-quality pictures of every inch of your car before every trip. Because if the case comes where you car gets damaged by a guest in Turo, their Turo insurance will try to find any potential crack on your visual evidence to avoid paying for your damages!!!!
I am pleased with the quality of the Ride but NOT with the TURO customer service. I was traveling hundreds of miles to Northern Michigan during Labor Day holiday. Monday was perfect weather, but when I got ready to leave I was warned that unsettled weather came in over Night. As I was cruising unimpeded down I 75 checking out the many creatures of the new KIA. Rain started coming down. The traffic picked up just past Indian River. The car was very up to the task as the road became water-logged. Cars merged onto the narrow 2 lane roadway, but I just past them up fast. There was a few times when the flow was congested. So I pulled out to get Coffee to stay on my toes. Then after many more miles, time for one more pit stop. This was in the Midland interchange. As Soon as I pulled into Speedway, a firetruck cruised past me. Then back on the road again, traveling a little over 60mph, traffic stopped with nowhere to turn. People inched toward for miles to get up to the crash scene. I notified the host as soon as it was appropriate to do so. Then I had to go 20 rounds with people on the other end of the phone that wasnt aware of inclement weather, my sister sent me an email saying there was a tornado spotted in Midland. I was penalized for pulling off the highway to getting my bearings and I listened to my instinct to play it safe.
Weve had two GREAT experiences with Turo and one very bad one. That bad one was recent when we were to meet the car owner at our arrival at Newwark airport. As we walked off our plane, we got a text from the owner saying our reservation was canceled -- no explanation. Quite a shock. The next 4 hrs were spent at the airport, trying to get Turo customer service to deal with this situation professionally. Very very upsetting and frustrating. Finally, hours later, one of their reps acted professionally and found us a replacement vehicle. (Great car, great owner interaction!!) Unfortunately the new vehicle was 3 times the price of the our original rental and Turo was only willing to refund the original price, forcing us to pay even MORE after all they had put us through. Once home, we called Turo again and they assured us corporate would call us about our bad experience. No call ever came.
I rented a car from a renter who claimed we had left pet hair and charged us $150. Turo supported the renter (I guess they get a commission) after they saw the photos. We never had a pet in the car or were exposed to pets. How so called pet hair came to be in the car is beyond me. Even so, things happen. However how can a renter simply charge whatever they want and despite appealing, Turo simply gave us the party line and supported the renter. Furthermore, how on gods grew earth can they justify $150 for a quick vacuum??? Treated as a liar and having my money taken without consent. What an experience. Goodbye TURO.
4 Years hosting with TURO and if I have to rate I would give 1 star! Many incidents occurred and they weren’t a help and the most recent one made me loose money and of course TURO were able to make money!
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. We booked an 11 day trip and our car’s engine blew out on day 6 and we were stranded in the Utah dessert in 106 degree heat for 4 hours with absolutely no help from Turo. The only reason we survived is because we got a $200 tow into the nearest town on our own dollar. Their customer “service” is 100% full of robots that can’t wait to tell you “I understand” and then transfer you back to the beginning. Save your time, money, and sanity and book your rental directly through budget, enterprise etc. Truat me. LAWSUIT PENDING.
STAY AWAY FROM TURO: I agree with a prior review, rent from a regular rental company because the Uber of car rentals this place is not! I rented a car for 4 days from Julio in Ft.Lauderdale who rents out of Auto Rite in Davie and when returning home the car wouldn’t go in park when attempting to reverse in the driveway! The transmission was not going in gear, I had to apply the emergency brake to it not to roll out my driveway! I called the company and connected with roadside and they sent a tow truck but they guy had a cast on his arm and I had to help him strap up the car! I messaged the Host Julio with no response and asked about the other 48hrs and since I didn’t keep the car and wasn’t able to fuel the car what was to happen but no response! Customer care dies give you the runaround and put you in a loop of transfers talking to different people that have no idea of what’s going on! Customer care says when the host receives the car that the would refund my 2 days but I can’t even book another car until the host ends the trip! I finally got a response from the host Julio at 2am but saying he sorry but he hope I can get another car😤😤😤 with no responses to my messages about the rest of my trip and why he didn’t end the trip as yet! This operation is not worth the time nor the money!
Clueless customer service and gaps in their policies that they dont honour. I was looking to try out the platform to list a vehicle. In Canada, you need to be 21 to list a car but 23 to book a car. Everything I chat with support to get this cleared they all give the same response saying I need to be 23 to book a vehicle. If they actually listened I could easily get done what needs to be fixed. They are leaving money on the table. Ill check back with them when I turn 23. Going to use my cash to go with Airbnb instead.
Absolutely horrible!!! Took $1212 from me $750 for deposit and $420 for rental, not even 30 minutes later I get a notification saying my reservation was cancelled I called they couldn’t give me any info and said I didn’t to talk to the verification team which is via chat no live person they couldn’t give me an answer as to why my reservation was canceled and they already took my money out of my account . They said I will be refunded in 3-5 daysZ This is an absolute joke ! Please think twice about using this company! They let me book my reservation, take the money for it and then cancel It and CANT GIVE A REASON WHY they had to cancel! No it wasn’t the driver who canceled he’s the one who emailed me letting me know turo canceled for some reason! Very frustrated
I had great expectations from Turo and was excited to give them a try. The rate was great for a late model car. It just didnt work out for me...maybe for some people. They just dont have the support that you get from a rental car company should you have problems. And I really hate dealing with rental car companies as they have almost no customer service. My story. I flew into the airport and had a car lined up for a 1PM pickup. Contacted host and he said prior rental did not return the vehicle at 9AM, so he had no car for me. Both of us reached out to Turo. Turo sent me a link to another vehicle that was the same price but 35-40 minutes away. This also is a problem as it would have cost me another $80 to get there and back. The other issue is you can only book a last minute rental 2 hours from real time. I get this if you planned your trip, but if something should happen and you need a new vehicle, you would have to wait 2 hours before picking it up. I was going to do this, but the new host never replied or confirmed if the vehicle was available. I did get in touch with Turo (very long wait again) and they tried to reach the host. Nothing from the second host, so I cancelled that rental as well. The app will charge you a cancellation fee, even in my situation. Good thing I was still on hold with Turo. They cancelled and I ended up having to pay more at the airport since I did not have a reservation. It was 5:30 by the time I left the airport. Not a good day. Turo offered me a $15 credit toward my next rental.
Such a bad experience with Turo. The car smelled badly of cigarette smoke, had stains all over the seats, and was filthy. Would have cancelled but by then no rental cars were available and I had already Ubered to the pick up location. Ended up detailing the car myself at a nearby car wash and buying seat covers. The stench never truly went away though. To top it off, the host gave me a negative, retaliatory review despite that I had taken very good care of his car (better than him) and had gone above and beyond as a renter. Instead, he only mentioned that he didnt want renters who would leave a bad (aka honest) review. Obviously a preemptive attempt to cancel my review. Lastly, Turo customer service was completely derelict in their duty essentially washing their hands of the whole experience. Never again, Turo. You lost a customer for life, not because of one bad host, but because of how you protect bad hosts while hanging renters out to dry.
Im hopeful that I will be able to rent a car with Turo. So far though Im blocked from renting a car because the ap thinks Im under 21 years of age. This is despite having uploaded my drivers license which proves my birth year in the 1970s. It seems difficult to rent a car. I hope to get through this hurdle.
Beware of Turo! We were accused by the owner of a vehicle of staining a seat (which was false). The owner said they had it cleaned & charged us $50 for the service even though the invoice said the fee was $10. Turns out the invoice is most likely phony anyway (fake address). It was escalated to Turo & they took the money out of my account w/o addressing the false invoice or the incorrect charge. Owners can do anything they want if Turo already has your credit card! Its not worth it.
Worst experience ever. Dont ever rent from this company. When we return the vehicle they told us that there was tobacco all over the vehicle and that we smoked in it even though we did not smoke at all inside of the vehicle. The only thing that was inside the vehicle was some crumbs from food that was eaten. Then they charged us additional money. Please go with a reputable company. You cant trust some people.
Horrible company to work with. I was involved with an INVALID claim and they charge you a $500 fee just to combat it. They say you only have 7 days to do all this and then they take WEEKS for anything to process. You can’t get ahold of anyone to talk with about a claim and they can’t answer any questions. I would NEVER recommend turo to anyone. Very shady
They just dont want to make things right. I will NEVER use Turo again. It ruined a dream trip to see Rocky Mountain National Park and Breckenridge. The car was awful and we nearly died. Turo refused to provide response, let alone a refund. I had to contact them week after week and repeatedly to get one email from a live human. Finally, I had to cancel unauthorized charges through my bank. From someone whos run a company and has done sales, this is no way to do business!
The customer experience leaves a lot to be desired. I tried to book a pick up truck In Dallas three times in the last 24 hours and was declined all three times by the hosts for no valid reason. The same hosts were back on the platform soon thereafter with clearly no consequences. No place to call. No redress. No Sir, not going to be insulted using this platform again.
TURO IS SCAM MUST READ WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM TURO!!!!!!!!!!THEY ALLOW SCAMMERS TO CHARGE YOU 300$ SECURITY DEPOSIT THEN CANCEL THE RENTAL..!!!!!!!!!!! AND TURO SAYS THEYRE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LETTING U GET SCAMMED!!!!!!!! VERYYYYY RISKYYANYBODY CAN DEFRAUD YOU ON TURO IT IS TOTALLY NOT SAFE.. YOU PAY IN ADVANCE AND THEY CAN JUST CANCEL THE CAR AND KEEP YOUR MONEY......UPDATE::: LOST THE 300 DOLLARS. PAYPAL AND TURO WORKED AGAINST ME AND REFUSED TO GIVE ME MY MONEY... I rent cars from anywhere but TURO now . They work against you to defraud you.
I use to be so sure I was a life time user of turo I loved the convenience of being able to book a car in any city any time and they were always nice cars from awesome people. Well as of today I will not longer support your company all 13 of my employees have been told not to use your services on any of our company trips from now on because your moral compass is broken as a company. We refuse to support any business who turns its back on its employee base. I’ve herd one to many story’s that turned out to be true about this god awful “car rental service” aka INSURANCE COMPANY don’t be fooled or robbed by thinking they will take care of you if you decide to work with them.
If you have a race car that’s a standard. Be careful. Had a customer calling me 1 days after renting my car asking me how to use the reverse on my WRX STI . At that moment, I knew he ruined my clutch so I call to report it. 2 days later my car was towed and dropped off 1 block from my house. Doors unlocked and a missing key. Turo only paid me 2087.69 minus the 200 deductible that comes out to 1887.69.I had to pay over 2000 out of pocket, tow to the dealership and for a rental cal I was never compensated for . I’m reporting them to the BBB and my state attorney general.
Complete garbage!! First time using Turo! My cousin recommended the app, made reservation close to 30 days in advance. Asked if I could add my brother in law as additional driver, 1st response from host “you are still responsible for the car” that was within minutes of reservation. I felt at ease that we had vehicle locked in. Next day received text from host after receiving my brother in laws DL Picture saying the car was not available. I feel as if we got discriminated at, for how do you go from making reservation, texting and next thing you know oops sorry car not available anymore. Customer service number not available on site only text! On hold for what seemed forever. Only thing Turo customer service do is say sorry more than 20 times and offer $15 off next trip. I also demanded that they refund my CC as fast as they drew it out of account. Here I am 6 days later and haven’t seen my funds. Please use conventional car rental and do your due diligence before renting from this app. Look up the real reviews In consumer affairs.
Terrible host vetting. Terrible customer service. If you need something reliable look elsewhere. We booked a car and for a trip only to be stood up at the airport by our host. After waiting on hold with Turo customer service for more than an hour and a half I went to a traditional rental car company and booked a car (meanwhile I was still on hold with Turo). I ended up paying more because I didn’t book the rental car ahead of time. I used to think Turo was great, but After getting the full experience with customer service I would NOT recommend Turo to anyone I respect.
DO NOT RENT WITH TURO. Customer service is a complete joke. The “damage” claims department is even more a joke they instantly send your claim to a collections agency to try and make you scared to pay which is complete fraud. The vehicle I had rented was hit after I had dropped the vehicle off and I proved it with pictures and they still are trying to make me pay 1700 dollars for the damage.
Absolute ripoff artists. I can pretty much guaranty that this company will rip you off if you do business with them
Absolutely terrible customer service. My car was marked unlisted 2 months ago for no reason and no explanation was ever given. I have emailed, chatted and called with no luck. Either no answer or they reassure me that my issue is elevated and I will hear back, but I never do.Not worth the headache.
-1 review, this car rental app practices business in a very peculiar manner. While an alleged car damage incident is under pending and processing status they transfer the claim to collections within one week and a half. Great place to make easy money for car owners who like to rent their vehicles to others. Turo will support the hosts version about any type of alleged damages to the body of the hosts car even when the owners live in farms with goats and rams denting horns into the vehicles they have available for rent. Weird experience...
You might think Turo is a neat way to save a little money and rent a car, but its actually a den of snakes. Their policies are designed to make the customer at fault regardless of circumstance. Communicating with customer service has been nothing but policy and process. You cant have a real conversation with these people.I rented a convertible near Fort Lauderdale through a host named Givanni. During my vacation, the roof of the car broke. I did not misuse the vehicle in any way. I called the host who came to see the vehicle and agreed that it was due to normal wear and tear of the vehicle.Givanni called Turo, asking how he could get us a replacement vehicle. Turo stated they require a claim to help customers get a new vehicle. Givanni filed a claim, and Turos immediate reply was that they would respond within 1-2 business days. We didnt have 1-2 business days to wait for a new vehicle, so we bought a second vehicle from Enterprise.Since the claim was filed, Turo has persisted in insisting that I am responsible to pay for the claim. They charged me $3000, and have insisted that their policy is that any damage that occurs during a rental is the customers responsibility, regardless of fault. You can read that in their actual terms and conditions. I am continuing to dispute the claim, and now they are threatening me with collections. What a den of snakes Turo has been. Dont touch them with a 10 foot pole.
This is about the company, not the renters or hosts. Was approved and rented a vehicle from a friendly host. 3 weeks pass and 2 business days prior to my trip, the rude company Turo cancelled the trip with no details as to why except a multiple choice form letter. Ive never gotten into an auto accident in my life. Not one. Hilariously dumb company after seeing so many wrecks and horror stories and not renting to someone with a perfect non-accident record.
Turo support specialist failed to follow own company/platform rules.Guest destroyed interior of the car. I spent 3 hours cleaning it by myself because detailing quoted me for $300 for cleaning and I had suspicion that Turo may not cover that and I ended up being correct. Based on this I decided to remove my car from platform as Turo failed to handle simple guest-host problem. Very disappointed .
My reservations are cancelled 24-48 hours prior and I have not been able to receive any discounts if I have to book an expensive car
Irresponsible host using an unreliable business model. TL;DR: The car I agreed to rent wasn’t returned on time and I was not contacted until after I arrived. I was refunded. Turo’s business relies on trusting people to be responsible and provides no backup when things go wrong. My opinion is this is their biggest problem and why it is completely unreliable. My rental was scheduled for 9:30AM so taking charging time into consideration, my trip should have been canceled hours before. Instead I had to call the host from the pickup location (9:45AM) and my trip wasn’t officially cancelled until 11:30AM. This is all in addition to the fact I will not be refunded the cost of my Uber to/from the location and that I had to scramble to find last minute transportation to get my family to our destination two hours late.
You call and they give you a link to a chat bot.
It was 8:15pm the night we got off the plane with our child, expecting our Turo host to meet us at 9pm with a car when I received the email stating the host cancelled the trip. We were left stranded at night in a new city. Didnt have the extra money towards a rental because guess what, yep, Turo and their peeps are still collecting interest on my money, while we sat stranded at the airport on Christmas Eve. There are no cars available during this time. After this experience who tf wants to rent another car from Turo? So now I have to wait another 10-24 hours, longer because of the holiday to get a refund. Never, ever, again!! Do not risk using Turo!!
Ive been a host in the past when I rented my car, and recently I had my first experience renting someone elses car! In this case, I rented a Tesla Model X, mostly because I would like to buy one for my family very soon. What a great way to spend some time with a vehicle and really get to know it before buying. A test drive with the dealer is grossly inadequate. Plus we were able to comfortably fit 6 adults while exploring Austin, TX on a bachelor party trip!
I have used Turo for over 2 years and there have been some ups and downs but overall its a great alternative to the traditional rental car centers. Turo has been called the Airbnb of car rentals. You can get a unique type of vehicle at a great rate from the person who actually owns the car instead of a large corporation.Turo makes it easy to get approved online to rent a vehicle all you have to do is be over 21, have a valid drivers license (even from another country), and a credit / debit card.Use this link to join Turo and you will get $25 off your first trip: JoinTuro. comThe cars available to choose from range from exotics, convertibles, sports cars, Jeeps, Teslas, SUVs, trucks, luxury cars, eco-friendly, all electric, and minivans. All types of cool and different cars that you normally cant rent from a big RAC agency.Turo makes it easy for almost anyone to rent a cool car. Check out the 100s of cars available in your area and also you will see the reviews on the vehicle and the host who owns the car. This way you know youre going to get a great vehicle from a reliable owner.
Horrible customer service, and the hosts are scamming guests!! Turo is allowing this because it makes them money. Renting a car from Turo is not worth the risk! I was charged a cleaning fee when I left the car spotless!! Turo was not helpful and just gave automated responses without finding a solution.

They will try and take your money and let hosts do sketchy practices! I also read that they dont allow many 0-4 stars reviews on there all star hosts. I wrote a few one star reviews and they never showed up on the hosts account!!
Peace, Turo helped me to provide the best service for my client; an up and coming hip hop artist. I was able to find a great car for the video shoot delivered straight to my client and picked up from same location. The host L was courteous, flexible and very understanding. He provided a fantastic experience for this young artist. The Turo help department was able to answer my questions quickly and concisely. Overall very pleased and will recommend this service to others as well as use again myself. Thank you.
The cars arent in the condition as advertised. The first vehicle was dirty and started shaking at high speed. After reporting the issue, the owner promised to meet us at our hotel to exchange vehicles. Later, he told me, in order to exchange the vehicle, I had to return the vehicle to the airport. This was a great inconvenience because we were on vacation and on a tight schedule. The second vehicle was filthy. These vehicles are suppose to be clean especially because of the pandemic. I was given a car wash code, asked to take it to get the exterior cleaned only and promise a partial refund of one day. I sprayed it down myself.I was on vacation. The rental car companies were sold out.Lastly, I didnt received the refund. I was told I would receive the refund only after I provided a good review. However, until I was denied the refund, I wasnt planning on providing a bad review. I was going to take it as a leassoned learned. However, after this experience, how could I. I would never want anyone to experience what I experienced.
Im only giving 1 star in order to leave this review. DO NOT rent a Turo car. I prefer paying the same amount through a company such as Hertz. They have terrible customer service. You cant contact anyone via a phone call. Everything is through an app that gives you automated responses to issues. We were told everything was good when we retuned our car but were then charged a $150 cleaning fee for pet hair (that was only on the floor of the passenger side because of our dog which the owner of the car was fine with). We were disappointed with this fee because the we received the car, it was dirty. We felt bad addressing this with Turo and the owner and since we are in a pandemic, we decided to just hand clean the car ourselves. We didnt dispute this or bring it up until being charged an extra $150 for a cleaning fee that was very unfair. When trying to connect with Turo customer service, all they did was give us the run around via email and different chats. No one has yet reached out to us via a phone and when we asked to speak to a manger, they said they couldnt connect us with one. Never heard of a company that cant connect you with a manager. Please never order from this fraudulent company. We were trying to help someone during the pandemic by renting their car but in return received a nightmare. Not worth the few buck YOU MAY save. Rent from a reputable company.
I got a rock chip on the window of a rental. Was initially told it was covered. 6 months later, they said I had to pay $1700 to cover it. They immediately handed it to a collection agency named TrueAccord. My insurance paid them minus the $500 deductible and we negotiated a settlement amount which I paid. Then, out of the blue, 2 years later, another collection agency is harassing me for the full $500. Ive told them its been settled. sent proof of payment, and they are telling me that Turo claims (to them) that I still have a balance. Horrible company to deal with if things go wrong.
I loved my experience overall and the ease of renting from the car owner. However, the app need to be improved so renters can clearly understand what they need to do to rent the car ie: images, starting and ending rental. This is a great platform you just have some details that need improving to make it more user friendly. I can recommend it though.
Worst experience ever they do not screen the drivers at all some junkie rented my car and smoked meth in my car and turo will only cover $250 of the $1050 bill to have it decontaminted most ridiculous experience I have ever had and to boot it took almost a month to even get the response needed for payment!!!!! Do not trust the guys with your car!!!
My first Turo experience was absolutely excellent. I had some trepedation as anyone would have using an app/site for the first time and committing funds on faith. After researching numerous vehicles for a quick hop to San Diego I chose a Mustang convertible hosted by Sunny. The fee seemed quite fair, opted for standard insurance and booked. I was surprised as to how easy the whole process was and how simple the host made it. I had a short walk from the terminal to the parking storage facility, found the car, followed the instructions, took a few pics of the vehicles condition, posted to the app and boom, great deal. The return process was just as easy, pics of return condition, report milage, re-secure the vehicle and youre done. So far Turo has 5 stars as it was simple, less expensive and provided nicer vehicles. I hope to be using it again later next month. My only concern is hosts boosting prices due to irresponsible clients, I hope this doesnt happen and people act responsibly.
Turo provided us with a car in Breckenridge, Colorado that had no heater, no emergency brake, and no coolant and basically told us “this is the car you rented, deal with it”. After the second day the car gave out on the shoulder of a dangerous and icy road in negative degree weather where the owner of the vehicle and Turo stranded me and four of my friends for five hours because they didn’t want to tow the vehicle to get serviced. After three hours of calling customer care and trying to speak to a representative who understood the situation we all FINALLY got a hold of the owner who conveniently decided to slience all of our phone calls to ghost the issue, they finally sent a tow truck and a replacement vehicle 24 hours later. By the time the tow truck came we finally made it to a safe Location after hitchhiking one by one DURING a pandemic. Turo is now charging us not only the full price of the vehicle, but the full price of the replacement vehicle, and we are now disputing a $500 claim that we “damaged the vehicle.” Clearly this is a ponzi scheme! This car company not only endangered the lives of four people, but did not show any remorse for the situation that we were placed in. It has now been over three weeks and this resolution has not been solved. We are now hiring an attorney to sue Turo and the owner. Please avoid this car company at all costs and by all means! I am crying as I write this out of anger and rage. Update: We learned we are not the only renters who have had this experience with the same owner who claims damages and ghosts after renters are stranded. He literally purposely drains the car of all coolant and all services so he can claim $$ after! we just filed a complaint with the better business bureau who is investigating the situation.
Man just use a real rental company that way you won’t get screwed over with a 1500 damage bill for someone lying about damage to their vehicle. Also lying about smoking in their car when they can you a car that smelled like nothing bt air freshener where you can’t tell if it already smelled like smoke. Just use Enterprise because these ppl only side with the ppl renting the cars out when something happens
My first booking had to be cancelled because the host decided to extend the previous rental before mine. So through no choice of my own I had to deal with the inconvenience of re-booking and waiting for my refund. When I got refunded, the amount was $27 less because the exchange rate changed. Again, I got ripped off through no fault of my own. I didnt find out about this until just now.So, Im going to Hawaii tomorrow. I messaged the man (on Turo) who I booked the car rental with and he tells me that Turo cancelled my trip. IM TRAVELING IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS AND FIND OUT MY TRIP HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Ive been trying to speak with someone from Turo, but no luck. I sent an email. This is 0 for 2 so far, and I highly recommend NOT USING THIS COMPANY. Ill probably get ripped off again with my refund but thats TBD. On my account it says that I cancelled my trip on August 11. I didnt even go on my account on August 11 and I most definitely didnt cancel my trip, 3 days before I leave. This is outrageous.I spoke with budget car rental. They were so helpful and I booked a car with them, the day before my trip, for pretty much the same price as Turo. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Be very careful when renting a car from this company. If you get into an accident and it is not your fault (even if you have an eye witness and your insurance company thoroughly investigates the accident and proves you are not at fault), Turos insurance company, Liberty Mutual, will not investigate anything and Turo will slap you with the bill. See you in small claims court Turo (Ill make sure I have my eye witness and my investigatory report of the accident with me).
Turo Is refusing to fix a damage to my car I found the day this car was returned to me after a 2 month rental. I provided the pre trip photos, the photos the day they return the car and even a video I made the same day I rented the car out.The two agents in charge of my claim, Richard Blanquicet and James Watanachaiyot, have refuse to accept my car was damage even with a video. They first denied my car was damage and the first reason was the pictures were not clear. Then I sent the video which is a day time video with the woman who rented standing around.I am filling a complaint with department of insuranceI am adding this review in as many places as I can that Turó has revewsThe first 3 is my car before they took it.
This is how bad turo customer service is. I was locked out of my account for no reason and couldn’t make a reservation because the reps would tell me another person would have to get in touch. I’m from overseas so being in a foreign country and having your account blocked was such an inn Oborne ruined my whole trip to the us
After the longest day at the airport with no luck getting a rental car even though I had pre rented a car, luckily was able to get a car through Turo, Saher had amazing customer service. We were able to get a amazing car that had amazing gas mileage and was clean, we had no trouble getting anywhere we went and was able to get the car within a half hour. Which is a step up from the service i got from the airport. I highly reccomend using this over any other rental company . if this service is available to you then use it!!!!! Thank you saher for making my trip in sanantonio amazing!
Turo will easily make Americas top 10 evil corporations. It is a horrible company that engages in all kinds of lies and scam to cheat innocent car owners. Their insurance policy is nothing but a scam. They will come with all kinds of excuse to deny valod and legitimate claims. Their policies and practices even surprise collision companies that deal with all kinds of claims. I absolutely do not recommend using this company for any service.
Rented car from turo. The same fee was charged on my credit card twice. Could not get any customer sevice agent on the so I disputed just the one duplicate charge with my bank. This was after the owner of the vehicle and myself agreed to the mistake made (all of which can be seen in our msg correspondences). They deactivated my account and sent me an email saying it is under review. After replying to them they said this is their final decision. Honestly I dont think anyone took the time to read the messages or they wouldve seen it was an easy fix. Anyway, they need better customer service agents and quality improvement measures. No, I do not reccomend.
Customer service is subpar, Also some of the policies don’t add up. For some strange reason I can’t rent from them they state that I have accidents or violations I have never been in an accident and I haven’t had a ticket and almost 10 years.
Rented a vehicle for a week and wanted to extend trip. The price went up and when I complained to the host he said let the rental end then rebook. I did that and the host raised the price 10 dollars per day, 25%. Never have I experienced such dishonesty from any business. I complained to Turo customer support and they will do nothing.Oh and this is at Christmas time in LA during the worst of the pandemic. Corporate America fails yet again and shows they only care about money, getting as much of it as possible by any means necessary.
Overall a really hassle free, enjoyable experience for car renting. The host was friendly, informative and flexible on pick up and drop off locations. The Turo website was easy to set up an account and to navigate the hosts web pages. Had some tech support issues with submitting changes on the website only to find out later those changes did not go through. Other than that, I wish there was a way to post a video review. Also wish there was a way to connect with the hosts to negotiate prices on custom deliveries before booking the trip. I would definitely use Turo again.
Wow...about to push the button on a week rental from Turo.....So glad i did NOT. The reviews are horrrible...I will not rent from them.
This picture is an example of what is wrong with Turos raiting system. Zero and one star reviews are not processed or allowed on this platform! I personally know a few people along with my own experience which was horrible with this car renter. Yet they still display a 5 star rating. Be careful of this scammer and never use his Prius car!
Trying to charge me a late fee when I was not late
This was my first experience with Turo so I was skeptical. My expectations were exceeded in every way. The host was great, communication was spot on and the vehicle was everything I thought it would be. Drop off and pick up were hassle free and the app to finalize the transaction worked flawlessly. I will definitely use Turo again! The only thing is the mileage . I think the host should let you know what the mileage is at the beginning that way you can track it. Because I was hit with with additional mileage cost once I got home. Otherwise a good experience.
These guys are crooks - they let the owners cancel up until right before the rental date and dont provide you with a replacement rental or sufficient compensation to cover a new rental. Avoid
Love Turo! That is more than I can say about any Car Rental company of the past..... Sometimes things go wrong in a sharing economy but Turo, the company is response in those cases in my experience. I recommend highly.... And try a car youve never tried.... like a Tesla.... Because you can!
Turo can be very misleading for owners, they lied about what the insurance covers, and it is a big chunk of profit that we lose in hopes we are covered for damages. It also took over a week to get an answer from someone that was answered in 1 sentence.
The car was awesome! Clean and roomy for my family of 5. The Host was phenomenal and made my 1st time renting with Turo for our family vacation absolutely seamless!
Deciding to spend Christmas with my family in Florida this year, I booked a vehicle through Turo from a local party in the Tampa area a few months in advance. When I contacted the party directly to confirm the vehicle and arrange pickup, she claimed that Turo had dropped her about a month ago. I contacted Turo the morning of my flight from the midwest and they investigated the claim. Without clarifying what happened, they booked another vehicle for me as I was in transit, and someone was there at the airport with a car for me. This car was more expensive than the one I had booked, but Turo covered the additional cost by over $100. However, it was an electric car, which is definitely a different paradigm for getting around. For the uninitiated, you find charging stations with an app, and sometimes they are hard to locate even when youre in the right place. Sometimes the charging is low-speed; and your car can be set for slow or fast charge among other things. Sometimes charging can take 6-7 hours; and you really have to plan your charge times and budget time for it if you dont have a place to charge overnight. There is really a science to it, and it might not be the thing you want when youre on vacation and just want to enjoy your family and the beach. It proved a timely solution, if not a perfect one. I still dont know what happened, or why. Perhaps Turo needs to follow up on its car sharers closer to the booking dates to make sure these emergencies dont happen, which costs the company in dollars and reputation.
Would give zero stars if possible, This is some of the worst customer service Ive ever experienced, I would like my account to me deleted, I will never be using Turo again and make sure that I spread the word that this is one of the most shadiest and scam car renting services out there. My family and I own multiple auto repair shops and dealerships across Los Angeles area and when people need to rent cars while their car is being worked on that are under 25 years old we tell them to us TURO but that will no longer be the case after this horrendous experience.
I am brand new to Turo as a host, but I learned right away that Turo does not want to pay a claim when a renter damages a vehicle. My car was returned with a dent in the door and the rear wiper hanging off of the car. It took me ten days to reach Turo claims. I submitted before and after photos. Turo then denied the claim because I should have taken a closer picture of the area that was damaged prior to the trip. I was supposed to have guessed that the door would be damaged and taken close ups of it. Hosts beware, drivers will treat your car as a rental and you need to be prepared to bear the costs when your car is returned damaged. Also take lots of photos, not just the photos that the app asks for.
This was my first Turo trip and I decided to rent while I back home in Los Angeles. I was a bit worried a first, because it seemed too good to be true. In the end, best experience I have had with a company. Turo made me aware of all updates, time frames and the car was a replica of how it looked online. I will definitely be using Turo for a long time and the prices are unmatched! Enjoy.
Turo.com customer service almost ruined my trip, luckily another company saved it. I cannot recommend them due to dishonesty, poor communication and terrible timing. dont let it happen to you, rent elsewhere.
This was my first experience with Turo so I was skeptical. My expectations were exceeded in every way. The host was great, communication was spot on and the vehicle was everything we hoped for. Drop off and pick up were hassle free and the app to finalize the transaction worked flawlessly. I will definitely use Turo again!
Turo has been awesome for me. I setup a trip, but never heard from the host, so cancelled and Turo was very responsive to return my money. Then found a second host that was much closer and he was the best! Totally satisfied with Ryan my host and Turo. I will be using them in the future.
What I like about Turo is that you can get a bigger variety of cars like a Mercedes which usually are not available from a car rental place unless you are in a major upscale market. I also like that I can basically rent the car I currently drive and am used to while other rental places have a small selection. Hosts are usually very good, but sometimes you pay more than a regular place like Enterprise or even Hertz. Transactions are usually very smooth.
I had heard of Turo almost a year ago but was skeptical to actually try it out. I decided to take the plunge and rented a Tesla for a long weekend. The host was outstanding and the Turo interface was easy to use and guided me through the entire process. I was able to use Apple Pay to complete my rented, message back and forth with the host and even received notifications on my apple watch about my reservation. One lesson I did learn was the price listed on the main search page does not include the Turo service fee but at the end of the day, it was the best car rental experience I have ever had.
Far better experience than any rental car company Ive ever used. Of course this is highly dependent on how good your host is but Ive had nothing but wonderful experiences. I also really like being able to pick my exact car as well.
My first experience with Turo went very well. There was a wide variety of cars to choose from. The car I rented was excellent ! The only problem encountered was in the booking process. The app did not allow me to select a pick-up location, even though it was stated that free delivery could be arranged within a 50 mile radius. Our host was great though and provided a mutually convenient location and schedule for delivery and return. I plan to use Turo again.
This was our first Turo rental and it went very smoothly. The van was nice and had plenty of room for all our friends. I got good gas mileage and pick up and drop off was so easy! The price was amazing and I appreciate this opportunity to bypass renting from the big rental places with all the fees and taxes. It was great and we will do it again.
I used Turo recently cause I needed a pick up truck for a few hours for my move. I booked the car for the same day. Host was prompt and truck was clean. Turo app made the renting experience seamless.
So I have Turo in ATL and MKE and both times have proven a nightmare. In ATL I hit some road debri on the highway and ended up with a flat tire. The host responded but asked me to change the tire. No problem except the spare was flat.. Out of pocket $56.00+ and had to buy him a new hubcap?? In MKE the car was dirty and the brakes unsafe. After turning in the car the same day, the guy still charges me $70+ and rented it out right after without fixing or cleaning the car.. Its been over 2 weeks and Im still going back and forth to get my money refunded and they told me he said NO.. Be very careful with these hosts, they know how to get more money out of you and get the minimal insurance.. I will never use this service again..
My first experience with Turo was good. It was a little confusing because it seemed strict to have the car back at 7pm (as I had booked) but the host was a bit lax and asked if I wanted to bring it back the next day! I made sure to have it back as promised because it seemed odd not to. It just made the process a little confusing. I will definitely book again though! It was great to be able to rent something that seated more than 5, which is difficult to find at a reasonable price. The fact that it was a nice car that we WANTED to drive was a plus!
This is my third time renting through Turo and it was exceptional in all ways with the exception of the over-mileage issue that others have.In my case, the owner was over 20 minutes from where we were staying in Las Vegas. We enjoyed our trip, but ended up 30 miles over the allowance. We got hit with over $140 in additional fees, which is, quite frankly, ludicrous, as this was 50% of the rental price.A superb experience completely demolished with an unexpected bill.If you watch your mileage like a hawk, youll be fine. I love Turo. The mileage is a massive break in customer experience for me and will definitely affect my thoughts about renting in the future, particularly when traditional rental companies offer unlimited mileage.
Used Turo for the first time on my trip to FL, I couldnt be more pleased with the person I rented from or the app. It was quick and easy, got a promo code for a first time use. AND free pick up and drop from the airport, I will be using their services for my next couple trips this year as well. So convenient and easy to use. The person we rented from was really kind and accommodating and the car was clean. I would even use this service the next time I have car troubles.
I didnt need to use customer service at any point, but the online platform and app worked well. I had no issues with the car or the owner. I like being able to choose the exact car I want--a nicer car for a cheaper price than whats offered at places like Enterprise. You also get to see how many trips the vehicles been on, which may help you feel more comfortable about its reliability. The Volvo I rented was virtually new. Ive also rented a Volvo from Enterprise in the past, but I wasnt paying for it as it was an insurance claim; the Volvo was considered a substantial upgrade, which Enterprise fought me on the whole time. With Turo, YOU choose, and theres no fight or persuasion needed.
This was my third successful rental from Turo and Ive had nothing but good experiences with them. I love their unique selection of cars. Have been able to rent a Porsche Cayman, Porsche Boxster S and most recently a Tesla Model S. All great cars and the last two I was able to conveniently pick up and drop off at LAX near the airport which made the whole process seamless. Will be renting from them in the future. SO much better than the Hertzs and Dollars out there. Rates are comparable too.
This was our first experience with Turo and all went very smoothly. As Im sure, many of the reviews on here are about the individual experience with a single renter, but these Google reviews are supposed to be for the company as a whole. Individual renters and rentees are reviewed within the mobile app. That being said, i had no reason to contact Turo directly as our transaction went so well. I can say the application worked flawlessly and the user experience was excellent. On an individual basis, our car was not great, but we were hunting a bargain. So, expectations met, well def use Turo again!
Overall Turo was excellent. I really enjoyed the service and the customer service. Rental car were not too expensive and the vehicle were really nice look and new. I would definitely recommend Turo to folks...
My wife rented a car for 2 weeks. She scraped a deer in the middle of the highway at night on the way home and left a 2-3 inch scratch on the front of the car that should have been covered by their usual wear and tear policy. The host stopped corresponding with us. We requested an appraisal from an authorized service center and Turo then sent pictures of the car to their third party digital appraiser, who without ever seeing the car in person, charged a $700 service fee and included pictures in their appraisal of scratches/damage not sustained during the rental period. Couldnt get in contact with a real person despite calling their posted customer service number during their operational hours. We have only received scripted responses back via email. As a bonus, their driver also has anger problems.
They pay on time but take too much of a piece for not folkowing up in complaints. Still waiting to hear back after a month. They let people younger than 25 rent the cars and kids smoke in the cars. $50 charge is not sufficient for cleaning. They need to charge at least $250 like car rental companies do. Not worth all the headaches. This business will not last if they dont change their policy.
Could not have been easier, great car, great customer service. The only problem I had (I was renting a car after mine was t-boned by kid on ind res) I wasnt able to rent a different car until I returned the other rental I had, making it hard to have friend go with me, pick up new car then drop first car off... luckily both car owners were flexible, so it all worked out. I would rent again.
Worst customer service experience. I’ve been a 5 star renter and driver since Turo was Turo. Accumulating over 50 rentals from my cars and renting at least 10 cars myself. For some odd reason they deleted my account/won’t allow me to rent my vehicles out or rent any for myself. During the time they were blocking my account I was in the middle of renting my cars to 4 Turo customers. Lost earnings, upset guests and never received a explanation.. There was no valid reason or excuse. I have emailed corporate I’ve emailed every single person and Turo support and I have not had the support return my calls at all.I was even at rideshare conventions in San Diego speaking on how Turo and. HyreCar work. Shameful that this happened. As a member of the ride sharing community and an investor I’m shocked that im spending this much energy on individuals that can’t return my calls or emails.
I am a fan of Turo having used the service, in CA, FL, CO, OH and several other states and the experience is generally the same, all good! Because Turo is a facilitator and connector service they are not directly responsible for the specific vehicle you are using - keep that in mind while using the service. If you realize that this is not a traditional rental car experience you will enjoy the variety and options, and the convenience is what sets Turo apart from traditional offerings. Ill use Turo again, guaranteed!
Recently rented Tesla Model X and was really happy with the whole experience. Really fun car to drive.
My second experience with Turo. The first went well until the owner tried to pass off damage on me. Turo took the proof they were lying and was great about handling it. This last trip went flawless. No issues. Much cheaper than the local rental cars.
First experience using Turo and all went great. Pick up and drop off was much easier than using rental car company at airport. Our host was great and worked with our schedule and contact was easy and fast. Would definitely use again.
This was my first time using the service of their company TURO, the car that you put at disposal, was just problems.1 did not meet the delivery schedule2 the car is with kilos of garbage inside the car3 the car was dirty from the outside4 the car had no documents required by the CA state5 the car presents a risk to the lives of people who want to rent the same, because the tires were in terrible conditions6 I have many photos of the car that you have made available for rent7 I wasted my time and spent money to go and find a trash8 I got in touch with my lawyer to see what I got rights on his company.Im very disappointed with all this, I hate this position,Im not believing your company did.
Unreal how simple this is. Less than half the cost of car rental companies, way more locations, faster to pick up and drop off. Sorry enterprise, but I think were breaking up! Thank you Turo!
Basically the AirBnB of car rentals. I found out about Turo years ago but was only recently able to use it. My first time using was great service from both the company and individual host who rented out their car to me. I would recommend it for anyone that needs a car rental for same drop off location and can even be ideal for business trips if you can find the right car available. Its not an option for those that only need one way rentals.
