We took the Spirit Dinner Cruise this past Thursday, the end of Day 1 for a Nursing Conference. The Husband, our Friends and I had so much fun. While in line to get on board, we learned there were four different boats sailing 30 minutes apart. Some of our Friends got seasick for a little bit only. So, take some meds with you if you are highly sensitive to this issue. The boat we were in was older but nonetheless, the Staff were great. Making sure we were safe the whole time and we enjoyed our dinner experience always checking up on all the guests. It was a three hour cruise and it went by quick.Having lived in The City, I am proud to say the views will never disappoint. Soak it all in and take memorable photos.Moving on to the dinner. We had the veggie option that came with our package and we enjoyed it. Let the pic speak for itself. We paid through our conference so I cannot comment on the pricing as it probably was at a discounted rate . I will however say. We were informed water coffee and tea were included but 300 Nurses found out soon enough that was not the case. Anyone wanting anything other than water paid for their drinks. There was dancing after dinner and we all had fun. The DJ however was just getting the feel of his crowd when we were about to arrive. The four stars like my other reviews is for the first experience on this particular cruise.
I went on a lunch cruise with my mother and it was a blast. The Hornblower staff were courteous and professional, and the food was pretty darn good. The items at the buffet were nice and fresh and didnt sit out too long before we were able to eat. The cocktails were a fairly reasonable $12 and although I didnt see it mentioned anywhere, the first glass of sparkling wine was on the house. All in all, the buffet was a modest affair with two kinds of salad (the Caesar was very nice), three side dishes, and two main courses. Two kinds of cookies and 5 kinds of cake provided the dessert table. Their coffee was surprisingly good, to boot. And, finally, though I cant say you will have the same experience I did, I would like to give a warm shout out to Jarrod and Ashley, who were seated next to us and engaged us in lively conversation for the whole trip.
Did the Social Sunday cruise. Amazing views. The weather was perfect. Boat had a great crew. Clean bathrooms. Had so much fun. The DJ was top notch. The food was just ok (quick bites/nothing spectacular). Just eat before you go. This was one of the highlights of my trip to San Francisco. If you are in the area a Hornblower boat tour cruise is a MUST!
Every single person we encountered was polite and professional and went above and beyond to ensure our evening was perfect. The food was delicious and the views were stunning. The music was the perfect mix of relaxing during dinner and upbeat for dancing. Simply an unforgettable experience!
The Best. I miss working for them and playing with them. Hardest working crew I have ever seen. Soon we hope!
I cant give minus but Julio like every other guy I am not against woman but he sever then first never serve me for 35 min dude wish you were equal
Went on a nighttime benefit blues cruise. This boat is huge, with 3 decks. The captain did a great job of cruising past all the best sights - for city views, nearly going under the Golden Gate Bridge, the Marin shoreline, Alcatraz, under the Bay Bridge and beyond. The decor of this faux riverboat looks stuck in the 1980s, though. The biggest downside was when we docked to get off. With only one exit and a single gangway, it took a good 20 minutes for everyone to disembark. That would make me very nervous in the event of an emergency.
This was a really fun experience. I was privileged to attend the Blue Angels show on the Bay with Active Seniors. The food was delicious and the crew was very attentive and personable. The DJ was all over the place- in a good way! He played all the good tunes (lots of throwbacks) for eating and chatting with everyone, and then he had our group dancing for the whole ride back to the dock after the show. The weather was near perfect, the views were amazing, and I could barely feel the sway of this massive boat. The ride out was comfortable and I got some great pictures of the Blue Angels and the Bay, the ride back was really fun, not to mention the boat is classically beautiful inside and out. I cant remember for sure if there were big, sparkling chandeliers in the dining rooms, but it sure felt that way. I cant wait to come back another time! Thank you!!
Do not book this company! We went to the assigned meeting point, and waited. Nobody showed up, so I called. Oh didnt you get the cancellation email; you guys were the only ones on the tour. Nope, no email, nothing in spam, and since we run our own mail server we went and checked the mail server log files. Absolutely nothing. So blew our 1 day to go sightseeing waiting for this 1pm tour. Grabbed one of the double decker buses instead which isnt what we wanted but better than nothing.Edited to add: they also did not automatically refund me, we checked our card, so have to call and deal with that when it shouldve been done automatically, but Im guessing that falls with the we notified you it was canceled when we actually werent.
This was such a nice place to be able to kindle a fresh relationship and would be great for people who are interested in nature. the water under the bridge was nice to watch in the rain. the boat also had a very nice bar which i may have bought a number of rounds of drinks at.
Such a beautiful & romantic cruise. The food was exceptional. Great memories💜
Beautiful old timey boat. Had the feeling of being transported back in time while on board. It is a very spacious boat as well, has 3 inside floors with even an outside deck on the very top. The lighting is magnificent on the exterior as well as interior.
Best party-boat. We had the Marine Corps Ball here. Huge dining room for dinner and ceremony. Sailed all over SF Bay at night. Bay Bridge and Golden Gate are spectacular photo opportunities. Food was really good.
The San Francisco Champagne Brunch Cruise is nothing short of sensational. The cruise lasted two wonderful hours. There was a live band that set the tone for an amazing experience ahead. The brunch left nothing to be desired- complete with bottomless mimosas and wine! I especially loved the French toast. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. It was during the day, and the views were breathtaking. The weather was perfect and windy, which meant we could enjoy the deck and views from the outside. I got so many beautiful photos. Be sure to arrive early because we had a little trouble finding the pier. You will not be disappointed! I cannot wait to book my next cruise with Hornblower.
The food and the air show was very good. However, the boat has these visual impairments on the top deck that serve no function other then to identify the company name that obscure The View of the person trying to watch the air show in particular for the scenery in general.
We went on the San Francisco Social Sunday Happy Hour Cruise and was disappointed, we were expecting to pass under the Golden Gate bridge but it didn’t. You are better off with the Red and White Fleet if you just want to see the bay. I have been to other Hornblower cruises and they all pass under the Golden Gate Bridge.
Originally built to be a floating casino. This old world style riverboat from Louisiana is loaded charm. She once carried guests on gambling cruises up and down the St.Charles River
My wife and I went on the Dinner Cruise of San Francisco for our anniversary. We enjoyed our time on the ship. They congratulated us on our anniversary. The waitress was very friendly and accomodating. The food was good and dancing was fun.Tables were a little closer together than I would prefer. But, you are still able to have a private conversation and the views are amazing. The band was a piano player and stand up bass player. They were both very good. The DJ probably talked a little more than you might like (like a wedding DJ) but it still was fun. It might have taken away a little from the romantic mood though.Overall, I would recommend it if you want to have a romantic cruise and dont take yourself too seriously.
Friend had a wedding here on the boat. Worked out really well and is a great way to celebrate. Boat did a out and back cruise to Golden Gate Bridge
Exceeded my expectations, we had our company meeting there. Food was great and plenty of it, wine was awesome, and the view knocked your socks off. With three decks is definitely a must do. We want to take the team back this summer to take advantage of the nicer weather and will definitely be hanging out on the top deck. With 360-degree views on a traveling ship you cant get any better than that. Captain and wait staff was phenomenal.
We went on a cruise for a wedding rehearsal dinner and had a blast! Dinner was fantastic, the views were beautiful, and the bartender made very good drinks. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for parties or wedding rehearsal! Could not have been more pleased. My boyfriend also was running late from a flight and they let him bring his luggage on to the boat and store in the same area we were at.
My boyfriend and I just went on this cruise to finish up our vacation in San Francisco. Here are some pros:*They took our photo on the way in. They cost $20 for 2 copies + a digital file.*Staff was very courteous, efficient, and professional.*Vessel was clean, elegantly positioned table placements, and the cleanest bathrooms Ive used in SF.Cons* The food was okay, but certainly not worth $100 per person.*The music was okay, but nobody really seemed to want to dance.*We paid $30 for what we later learned was a $5.67 bottle of wine you can get at your corner convenience store. All in all, a good experience. The views were amazing no matter where we sat. Make sure to bring a winter worthy jacket if you want to stand on the observation decks! The wind is wicked cold out there at night!
Truly a riverboat experience. We had a large company event with a dinner buffet and dancing. The food was good. I didnt feel the movement of the boat until it was turning. The eating and dancing was indoors which was nice on a cool night, but you can also walk outside and watch the view as the boat moves slowly past the San Francisco skyline. Highly recommend!
Definitely a party boat which is not what we particularly wanted. All lines for the bars were too long and the music was terrible. No where to sit. Not our scene at all, but good I guess if youre 21 and want to get hammered.
Great time on the Bell! It was a private function and the food was great! Wonderful time!
**DO NOT LET JIM VETTER BE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER** I recently planned a wedding with the bride at this location. Their prices were responsible, however most of the cost was for the photographer. We just got the photos back, and they are absolutely atrocious. The lighting is terrible, the angles are so off and most importantly, did not capture the beauty of her wedding. After talking to Hornblower cruises, they offered only 25% off. They are only getting married once, and the photographer absolutely did NOT capture this special day. Save your money, and save the headache. Bring your own photographer.
One of my friends worked at one of the cruise ships in SF and Hornblower stole one of his cocktail recipes and placed it on the menu without his consent.Although prior, they did offer to buy it from him, for a lowball price and he refused. Then they had the audacity to go on his social media and try to figure out the ratios of the drink from an Instagram post of his.So beware, if you buy a drink called Delicate Breeze, it’s a stolen recipe and the original creator of that drink did not give permission for Hornblower to use his recipe.
Hornblower offers many different types of cruises through out different times of the day for you to enjoy. They genuinely care about your experience off and on the ship. Great valet attendant on location as well. We had a awesome time on our cruise!
Well the music was good and the company was great. One thing is the long lines just to get one drink or an snack appetizers. No real menu items.
Celebrated a friends birthday on Belle and it was really fun with DJs spinning house beats while we sailed across the San Francisco Bay at night. The crew / staff were pleasant and, at least for this event, the drinks were poured reasonably well for the price. The night we sailed had absolutely perfect weather where no jacket was needed (surprisingly). It was definitely a pleasant experience.
One of our best nights in San Francisco. Lovely cruise, excellent food, delicious wine, friendly & attentive staff, good band. It is pricey, but certainly money well spent.
This was our 2nd time. The experience was fantastic. We saw both bridges and Alcatraz. The food was good. Great for an event with a large group. The views are spectacular. This was an evening trip with the glowing SF skyline. The crew is super friendly. Great for children and golden age folks. Its a bit windy so be prepared for the cold. Over all fantastic better than the first time. Recommended for anyone.
Great place for small, mini or large groups and getaways. Fresh and delectable foods and fantastic service. The employees on the boat are very friendly and cheerful. If your looking for an incredible way to celebrat life, the Horn Blower is the place.
My husband and I celebrated some special occasions, including his birthday and mine, with their SF brunch cruise. It was about an hour long cruise each time, with lovely views of the city, alcatraz, the bay and golden gate bridges, the piers and the harbours. (Thankfully, clear days around the city.) The brunch menu (all you can eat buffet spread, plus bottomless coffee and mimosas) had plenty of vegetarian and dessert options to satisfy our dietary and sweet-tooth needs and they were included with the cruise package. Convenient paid and valet parking was readily available for cruise guests. The reasonably-sized open deck allowed for ample photo opportunities throughout the cruise. We would certainly consider cruising with them again, including on their dinner and supper cruises, out of SF.
The only reason I am writing this review is to mention just how wonderful our server was. Dorothy. Request her and you won’t be disappointed
Wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion. We all did the Sunday Brunch. Parking available on pier for a small fee. Very organized, tables pre-reserved for your group. Lots of private restrooms. Food delicious, live music, and great views of San Francisco bay. Very smooth ride. Entire cruise is 2.5 hours, with views of both the Bay and Golden Gate bridges.
Excellent venue for large corporate events! It has three floors and a roofdeck. We had several games, a fake casino, dance floor, unlimited food and (paid) drinks. The latter were somewhat overpriced, but this is expected for a boat.
Bogie, was FANTASTIC! He made the trip to San Francisco for Mother’s Day worth it. He was amazing and funny. Prompt and overall incredible!
OK. Nice way to get around SF bay. Food OK. But I felt like I was a prisoner. Couldnt get off when I wanted too. Not their fault but not with the trip
Captain Adam, Paul & Julio made our night the best! Such hospitable crew! And the experience was exceptional! Everyone needs to do this!
Ive done the Bell before, beautiful food personnel excellent music and the views to die for
Great atmosphere. Delicious food. Music is so great
On Mothers Day our Server was Mateo and was ABOVE EXCELLENCE, MANNERS, POLITENESS and TIMELINESS on everything. When I do return, he is where I want to sit. A complete ASSET to HORNBLOWER CRUISES.
This was so much fun! Went for my birthday and the crew, food and service were excellent. Would definitely do it again.
This company is scandalous to the core. I booked a cruise with them and we drove all the way from LA and I wanted to take my kids on one of their cruises to show them the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island from a boat. When I made the reservation, I was told to be there by 6:30pm. We were running about 10-15 late, so I called and was told that they board from 6:30-7pm, and as long as we’re there by 7pm, it was completely fine. We made it at 6:42pm, only to be told that the boat had left. Then, they had the audacity to try to sell me a more expensive cruise! Is business that bad for you guys? I asked if we could simply go on one of their dinner cruises and simply not have the dinner, as we had reservations that night to a nice restaurant. They refused and tried again to sell me a more expensive option. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! IF THEY ARE THAT HARD UP FOR BUSINESS, FOLKS, WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE THEY SKIMP ON! You might find yourself in the ocean with a life raft trying to swim ashore. HORRIBLE COMPANY AND HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I do not want anyone else to go through what I went through with them!
The dinner dance cruise is a fantastic experience. It includes a live D.J. and a dance floor to work off those buffet calories. The evening cruise is nice if you like viewing the city lights.
Nice experience... lunch cruise was great fun. nice staff too
Its a wonderful place to host a party or a special event. I personally have been to a couple of them. lve always had a great time! They also offer a variety of foods and drinks which are great too! In addition they have pretty good DJs, theyve never disappoint me!
Had Thanksgiving dinner 🥘 on the ship last year ! It was really enjoyable! Took a group of my friends for Mother’s Day we really Had a great time💚
Its a good place for a short brunch cruise. Food and dessert were nice.
It was such a nice adventure everything was so professional thanks my return is a must
The Hornblower rocks on the San Francisco Bay! We had a great time and the service was excellent.. The food was wonderful and the bartenders went overboard (not really) for getting what was needed for my drink. I would go on the Hornblower for an event or just for dinner and a cruise!
We did a dinner and fireworks cruise for the 4th of July. The fog came in and ruined the fireworks but the food was good, the drinks plentiful, and the views were great. We cruised around Alcatraz and almost under the Golden Gate Bridge. The water was choppy and fog started rolling in, but the Belle is so wide and stable, you didnt even feel it. There are many decks to explore. Worth the expense.
Nice view. I love it
Fun and worth every penny. Great sights with a fantastic host on piano.
This was a ferry with that served drinks and food. Majority of the guest got a little wild (clubbing/dirty dancing)but didnt bother my husband & I. Bathrooms not very clean they were backed up because guest are not knowledgeable on boat plumbing. If you want an amazing view for a low price worth the ride. Wear a coat, scarf, and hat the air is cold on the bay. Drinks are expensive and they didnt offer just black coffee. Staff was very friendly!
The S F Belle is Simply Beautiful! Excellent food and drinks. Outstanding Staff.
Always a great time on Hornblower!San Francisco Belle, and Sacramento Capital
One-of-a-kind experience everyone. Food, music, dancing. Everything you need to have a wonderful time; a must try.
Nice ship. Very big inside.
Great experience, the food was surprisingly good. I will definitely do it again
Lovely experience on a boat cruise around the Bay. Amazing views of SF! Highly recommended
Only complaint is that there were not any folding chairs for people to sit in. This is my 3rd time on the Belle & the other times alot of chairs were put out. At least 1/2 of the people on board were seniors who had to stand for the airshow.
Great experience! Loved it! And the view was beautiful! Will definitely do it again!
Great views of the harbor. I went to a catered function here and the food was very good.
Went on the Fleet Week cruise today to see the air show and it was incredible! Fabulous food, great service and a view like no other!
Nice buffet, the ride was smooth.
I was amazed at the decoration and the ability of the staff to adjust to a large amount of customers in a short time.
Good Area to sit Watch the Bay, Places to eat nearby😎😂
It was me and my girlfriends first time on the Hornblower and what can i say the experience was great the food was good we loved the cheesecake that was for desert, not to mention the view outside at night is wonderful highly recommended for a romantic date.
Great fun. Awesome foodVery friendly and attentive wait staff
Views were amazing. Food decent. Fun overall experience.
Absolutely amazing. Great crew, INCREDIBLE FOOD. Best food ive tried in my LIFE. We were running late and they actually waited for us to board, beautiful ship, beautiful views. Highly recommend. Also, Ernest the server is amazingggggg, very attentive
A solid 10/10. Food was good, our server Dorathy was devine, but Paul, the piano player, was the best. We truly felt immersed in an experience, not just a boat ride. A+ would recommend to a friend.
A very pleasant cruise. Our server Fidel was top notch. The piano player was great. Now for the food. Salad area was good. Main table. Beans should not be served. A better selection of fish would be better. The basa filet’s were overdone. The bacon should be crisped up. Scalloped or au gratin potatoes would have been better choices. Roast beef should have been offered. 86 the turkey. Baked chicken Greek style would be a nice addition. A rice pilaf should be offered. More cheeese selections. The Mac and Cheese was a bust. The desert area was good. Overall, the food was fair to good. The executive chef needs to use a little imagination on his or her selections. The Staff was fun and polite. They made the trip.
Simply the best cruise line of the Bay great professional staff
