This place is nice! The mild saltwater pool is the perfect temp, and I enjoyed several hours there. I even loved playing basketball in the pool!(My only disappointment was having to shower in my bathing suit in the ladies locker room as there are no doors or curtains on the showers)Will visit again though....

Great facility for lap swim, my husband and I never had a problem finding a lane even at peak times. Even better were the 1-1 swim classes for our 3yr and 5yr old! The kids loved loved, loved their 30mins with coach America who is an amazing instructor! Can’t say enough wonderful things about her and the progress we saw in our kids swimming technique!

The facility was very nice and clean, and the staff was friendly. Its smaller than it appears online. The kids side of the pool had a giant floating obstacle course which looked like good fun for ages 5-12 or so. Theyre is plenty of space for parents to lounge. The other side is about 8 lanes of deep lap swimming lanes. I needed to use the lanes for a swim test.I didnt use the showers or locker room so I cant comment on that.Overall its nice but kind of expensive. Considering its right next to Mission beach I wouldnt recommend going there over the ocean which is free unless you need the lanes

Facility itself was pretty cool. Staff fairly friendly. Decent hours. A little uncomfortable to have female staff wearing thong bathing suits around the children, teaching the swim classes. Very awkward convo I had have with my male adolescent clients.

I saw a guy literally walk into the lap pool with a T shirt, shorts and STREET FLIP FLOPS/SLIPPERS. Im not making this up. When I asked the lifeguard if they could ask him to not to wear slippers in the lap pool, they told me, this guy has been coming here for a while, there is nothing we can do. I asked them wasnt it against the rules, the staffs response - well we dont think thats a violation of any rules because people wear swim shoes, flippers etc and besides the chlorine should disinfect most of it. I dont understand how on earth is wearing FLIPS FLOPS/SLIPPERS with a T shirt and shorts considered normal in a lap pool. The plunge website clearly states that only swim attire is allowed in the pool and no street shoes, yet they dismissed the concern. I really dont get it how or why are you guys are allowing someone to wear flip flops/slippers on a daily basis which the dude probably walks around in all day and has been stepping on god knows what on the streets and is bringing it directly into the pool and your lifeguards seem to be ok with it. Im surprised this isnt a violation of any health codes .@Plunge - Here is a copy of your rules from your websiteSwimwear is required upon entering the water. Swimwear should be properly fitted and shall not indecently expose parts of the body, be transparent, or display obscene or offensive pictures or slogans. Cut-off jeans, cargo or khaki shorts, pants or any other non-swimwear may not be worn.Only aquatic shoes are permitted in the pool, street shoes are not allowed..

This is the best pool in San Diego! Whether you want a hard-core workout swimming laps, learning to swim, aerobic exercise in the water, swim team, or having fun with the kids in the aqua play ground, its all good! I also appreciate the spin bike, kettlebell, dumbell, and sauna addition addition to the side. The pool is connected to Fit Athletic club so you have the option to extend your membership to that side of the club, too. The positive customer service vibes from the team are certainly appreciated!! Brian, Kelsey, Mike, Neil, and Vanessa, thank you for always brightening our day! Spencer does a great job setting an example with his leadership. I tell everyone, every chance I can, where the cleanest state of the art pool in San Diego is- The Plunge in Mission Beach!

We just got home from our morning lap swim at the Plunge and feel like sharing our gratitude for such a satisfying form of exercise. Water temperature at the Plunge is dependably set at a comfortable temperature. We swim an hour, three times weekly. We also participate in the water aerobics classes upon occasion. Our earliest visits to the Plunge were with our 10 year old grandson, who thoroughly enjoys every moment of the recreational activities, especially, the obstacle course. Swimming lessons and therapy are also available. Our membership is well worth the cost. Workers and other members are friendly and welcoming. They know us by name and treat us like family. We’re super grateful for the Plunge!

Such an amazing place. I began coming to The Plunge for my Pool Physical Therapy. I liked the pool so much that both myself and husband have gotten a membership. It is nice that they offer use of pool equipment. That is a huge help for me to do my therapy exercises. The thing I am most impressed with is how kind the staff is. Just one visit after I got our membership I walked past the manager and he greeted me by name and asked how I was doing.

We stumbled upon this gem when my kids were scootering around during our latest visit to CA. I decided to take the kids to one of the 3 hr open sessions since the weather was crummy. The guy who checked us in was so nice, the facilities were clean, there were not many people there. I have an 8 and 11 year old and they had fun (I did not swim). I think my only suggestion would be to reduce the price of the 3 hr session on weekdays, probably get more kids who just need a break from school (we were only there an hour)! So many kids are online/homeschooling these days. Overall we are glad we found it and are in CA almost every month so we will be back!

This pool is AMAZING! One of the nicest and cleanest public pools I’ve EVER been to...wow!! The staff is very polite and professional, the water is heated to the perfect temperature, and they have an open roof and glass windows so you can see the beach and feel the ocean breeze while you swim! I love coming and always have the best experience. It’s great for all ages too (lap swim lanes for adults, a huge inflatable obstacle course for kids, and water basketball/volleyball for teens)...my four month old has been coming since she was born and she LOVES it since it isn’t too cold. Definitely recommend!!!!

Ok so this was a good place to bring your kids in Summer time after or before beach. It usually costs $12 for kids of swimming and $15 for adults, and they give a military discount. I usually pay for them and sit and read. But i come in today (Monday which is not busy) out of nowhere I guess they tell me it’s an additional $5 if you’re going to hang out (so if I didn’t pay the kids who are minors would be in there by themselves)? Oh And no military discount when it’s on their board of prices and i ask why since I’ve been coming all summer with the kids. I was told it’s because they’re busy?? Not a fan of how they do business.. but i heard it depends on who’s at the front desk. So beware.

It’s tough to rate this a 1 because it’s such a beautiful facility and the water is so clean. But between the reservation policy and the staff, Plunge needs a pickup. It’s commonplace for 5 out of 7 lanes to be reserved for private groups without any notice other than finding out when you show up. Then the two open lanes can take up to 30-60 minutes to open without a person. While I’m fine w/ sharing pool lanes, individuals have the right to refuse to share, which I totally get given the pandemic. However, to have such a beautiful pool without a reservation system is ridiculous. Especially when they can operate at 30% lane capacity without any sort of notice.I’d recommend somewhere else unless you can wait around all day for a lane to open.

Im older gentleman. But I find arrogant kids being 5ft lifequards yelling at the adults like they yell at the kids. These are not not lifeguards and cant go beyond the 5ft pool. Not your dedicated ocean lifeguards but I would consider them baby sitters. This place is ok. The mens locker room has no adequate drainage as there is always standing water while you dry off from a shower. Good place to take kids as long as you monitor them.
