Ive been a member here since fall 2011, and even after almost 10 years, I still love it. The staff, the community, the workout programming, is all fantastic! And they are constantly looking for ways to add value to our memberships, especially during COVID (which I would say they have succeeded in doing). They also offer a free trial of 3 classes, and a foundations course for people new to crossfit, so there is no reason not to give it a try - its absolutely worth it!
I went to the Saturday class and I am so pleased I found this place. The class instructor was so nice, helped me correct my form. The only down side is that its not close to my house but worth the drive! You are going to love the ambiance of this place.
Crossfit 858 has a fantastic staff and a well-outfitted facility. The community that works out there is both supportive and competitive, making for a top-notch CF experience. The programming is well-thought-out, and options are provided for ALL levels of fitness. I am happy to call Crossfit 858 MY gym.
Im from New Jersey but have dropped in here several times for both the Open workouts and regular workouts. Everyone is very welcoming and helpful. I felt like I made new friends after only a few visits!I found the coaching very helpful and it is good to get pointers from different coaches. I will definitely workout here again on my visits to San Diego.
Being new in town, it was really tough to meet people and find that one CrossFit gym. CrossFit Mission Gorge is that one gym where there is a true family feeling, and place of belonging. The people are genuine and very friendly. The coaches are an excellent representation of CrossFit and focus on form to help you become stronger, faster, and better at life.I would give this gym no less than a five star and recommend it to everyone who wants a fun, active, and professional place to workout at.
Had a great experience with CrossFit 858 Mission Gorge, definitely a family atmosphere and all of the coaches are knowledgeable and able to adapt to every athlete no matter what level of experience. The facility itself is clean and well kept, would encourage anyone to check it out as part of their fitness journey. Much love for CF 858!!
CFMG is the best. I am completely biased, as its my only real work out experience, but I keep coming back for more. And Ive become strong and brave enough to branch out to running half marathons. (Seriously, how did I come to enjoy running??)Apart from the physical perks from being part of such an amazing box, you get to meet and make great new friends who become family to you!
CrossFit 858 provides an amazing workout for athletes no matter where you are in your fitness journey. The coaches and athletes are all super welcoming, and I have found a great community within this box.
Ive been coming here for the past 2 years. What I enjoy most is the vibe here. You really build a sense of camaraderie with your fellow classmates and instructors making for a fun and fulfilling workout!
The first gym where working out became more than just 45 minutes on the elliptical machine and began to have a positive impact on other areas of my life. Not only did I get into the best shape of my life, but I found a new passion - coaching. The coaches and members at CFMG are a family, and they will welcome you in and help you get comfortable being uncomfortable. You cant get that at a regular gym.
I really enjoy the family atmosphere. Everyone encourages you to do your best.If you want to push yourself and really get a great workout you have the option of a standard CrossFit workout or a HIIT workout.
Great Box.
The coaches here are really what makes the gym! Theyre educated, encouraging, fun, and love to challenge you to do your best. Would recommend anyone of any skill level to crossfit 858. They will get you to where you want to go and make sure that you dont hurt yourself in the process.
Went here while down in San Diego for military training and felt very welcomed the moment I walked in. Programming was solid and the coaches were very knowledgeable. Would definitely come back the next time Im in town.
This place changed my life. Ive never been stronger physically or mentally. Im so grateful to CFMG for many positive changes and for amazing friendships that will last a lifetime.
Ive been going to Crossfit 858 Mission Gorge for about 3 years now and its been such a great experience. While attending college its easy to get into a rut with exercise. This box has made exercising fun and I look forward to the WOD every day. Great staff and great members!
I had done crossfit before, but CrossFit Mission Gorge was the first crossfit gym I ever joined and I couldnt think of a better gym to become apart of. The work outs are great and make me stronger physically and mentally. Just when you think you cant go on any longer there is always a personal cheering squad from the other members and coaches to keep you going! The sense of community and the amazing coaches and people within the community make coming here a highlight of my day!
This place is awesome. I walked in there in January to check it out and was greeted by Ian the gym owner and head coach, he was really nice and friendly. I go 4 to 5 days a week and love it every time I go. When I skip a day because I think I am to tired or dont really feel up to kicking my butt I miss going and feel even worse than I did before. I think anyone looking to get into Crossfit should check this place out. The coaching staff is awesome!!! I love how they pay attention to their athletes and help them improve no matter how long you have be doing Crossfit. Lastly even one there is so friendly and just makes it an enjoyable fun experience. Go check it out!!!!
Not bad they kicked my brother out, but i liked it.
CFMG is a second home for many of us. A sense of community is fostered with supportive and enthusiastic coaches and members of all ages! Whether you are new to working out or are a trained athlete, CFMG is a great place for you.
Great people, great training and overall has a high spirit of community.
Great coaches and people. If you want to look forward to your workouts, this is the place to be.
Ive been coming to CFMG for about three years, and cant say enough great things about the coaching staff and the community. At the age of 33, Im healthier and stronger than Ive been in my entire life, and that includes playing varsity water polo. Never again will I slog through three sets of ten reps on the hip abdcutor machine at 24 Hour Fitness. You can find me doing pull-ups (yup), squat cleans and climbing ropes at CFMG!
I have been with CFMG for over two years now. My sister had been CrossFitting for a while, and had been trying to get me to join. I kept telling her I didnt want to get bulky. She would, of course, roll her eyes at me. Now, I do the same thing when people who have not tried CrossFit give me the same reason for not wanting to try it. My experience has been nothing short of spectacular. The coaches, athletes, and overall community make this place great. A wrist injury (not CrossFit related) brought my spirits down. I wasnt going as frequently, because I couldnt do many of the movements. Thanks to my awesome coaches, I was reminded that half the battle is showing up, and we can always modify. After months of mostly squatting -- and two quadzillas later -- my wrist finally started feeling better. I am now finally getting back to lifting heavy; all because my coaches and teammates motivated me to keep showing up. Thats the one piece of advice I can offer about CFMG. Just show up. You wont be disappointed.
When 2010 started I made the decision to get in better shape( I came from a non athletic back ground to say the least).Having done yoga for the last year Crossfit seemed like the most challenging workout I could find, Boy was I right.I tried several of the local Crossfit gyms and found Crossfit Mission Gorges one week free pass on line. By day 3 I knew I had found my Crossfit home. The coaches( Ian, Betsy, James and the rent of the staff) are knowledgeable, friendly and motivating. The other members in a short time become like family. The workouts are challenging to anyone, a beginner or a Elite athlete because they are scalable . The constant varied workout keep it from ever being boring.Im stronger and fitter then I have ever been in my life and cant believe Ive been doing this for over 4 years now. Its not easy and you will get out of it what you put into it, but with the supportive environment and great coaching the Crossfit Mission Gorge team has createdIts imposable to not want to give it your all every time.
I cant say enough good things about Crossfit Mission Gorge. I was a regular gym goer when I was in college, when I had plenty of time to do the whole back bi, chest tri routine and some cardio (no legs days). But once I started working full time, it was harder for me to find time to go to the gym and it became extremely boring when I did go. That is when I found Crossfit, I looked around for a gym that would work for me, and once I walked into CFMG I knew id found the right place. First off, on my first day one of the members of the gym (without being asked) walked right up to me sensing I was lost/new and introduced themselves, and made the gym a lot less intimidating. I have never looked back. The workouts are intense and short, you are in and out of the gym in an hour, and I am by far in the best shape of my life. Come by and check it out, you wont regret it!
Joining Crossfit Mission Gorge 4 months ago has honestly been one of the best decisions that I could have made. The coaches and other athletes make every experience at CFMG a truly unique and memorable one. The overall atmosphere of this box will have you hooked and coming back for more. From the incredible coaching and workouts of the day, to the amazing athletes who will believe in you even when you dont believe in yourself to push through those last few reps, CFMG has something appealing to all types of athletes and individuals. CFMG has not only helped me get into the best shape of my life but it has allowed me to unlock my true potential as an athlete and has given me the sense of a second home. I GO to CFMG to stay in shape...but i STAY at CFMG because of the incredible experience day in and day out.
I followed the Crossfit community online for over 2 years before actually joining a box, so I had high expectations going into Crossfit Mission Gorge. CFMG met those expectations and then some. Its not the biggest box with the latest and greatest equipment and a thousand members, but there is no lack of professionalism or the sense of community that Crossfit is known for. Its relatively small size means you can form close relationships with the coaches and other athletes and that you can go to any class you want and you will know people there. The expertise of the coaches is top notch, you always get personal attention during class, and every WOD has scaling/modification built in to meet any level of physical capability. Most importantly for me, being of average fitness and having no aspirations of reaching the Crossfit games, going to CFMG is FUN. Even if its the most brutal WOD or something I completely suck at, I look forward to going to class because I know Im going to have a great time laughing, and suffering, with the other members and my coaches. Lets be honest, San Diego has some of the biggest and best known boxes in the country, but CFMG is a local gem that combines both amazing coaching and programming in a more personal, inviting, and fun setting.**Last note on pricing, because I am a poor college student and you might be too, CFMGs rates are great for a Crossfit gym, youre not likely to find any better at a gym that has been around as long and is as well regarded as CFMG :)
Mark and the staff are fantastic! I love coming and working out!
