If I could put 10 stars I would. Joe and his team made sure to put that extra love into a board that needed much more than a little TLC. I brought in a vintage board that was unsurfable. The entire bottom needed reglassed, glassed on fins were rotted out, the nose was delammed top and bottom, and a nice size hole right on the deck. It was in rough shape. I reached out to many repair shops throughout the city and no one wanted to touch this thing. I even contacted the shaper himself and he said “Bring it to Joe! I can’t do what he does!” All the local shops told me to scrap it and buy a new board. Not Joe! He took one look at it and asked me “Are you sure? This is gonna be a lot of work!” A simple head nod was all that was necessary. He knew I meant business. Joe took it upon himself to bring the life back and I couldn’t be more pleased. The added pigment really made the old patina pop! You could see the stoke in his face to show me the results too! It’s amazing and he is a true artisan! Pics for confirmation! Thank you Joe for a forever board!!
Best place in San Diego to get anything and everything done to your surfboard. If it’s ding repair, a tune up or even getting an old board completely re done! These guys are no joke the body shop of surf board repair. They can bring oldBoards back from the dead! ROOTS SAN DIEGO BORN AND RAISED FAMILY COMPANY!
Amazing place great guys!
Joe is a San Diego legend. Such a great vibe at the shop. His son and the staff and Joe seem so happy to be doing their work. And they did a quality repair on my favorite board. Never going anywhere else for surfboard repair!
Had two boards repaired with some severe damage. Both boards where done a day before they said.Great price considering the amount of work needed to be done 10/10 will be back here
Decent shop, the lads really know what theyre doing here. Dropped off at the Kearny location, and it was done sooner than expected. Got a good deal on some new fins too. Ill bring my heavy dings here every time.
True Masters. Completely restored my 40 year old Skip Frye that had broken in half at Sunset Cliffs about 10 years ago. It’s hanging in my office now and it looks brand new. I have so many good memories on that board .It brings a smile to my face whenever I look at it.
Got a small ding on the tail of my longboard so I came here for a repair. I’m really picky and noticed that there’s now extra white specs near the area that was repaired. They also removed my fin screw and leash string and didn’t put them back so I had to go buy replacements.
Have a classic Takayama - about 35 years old. Looks brand new now. Beautiful work from Joes crew.
The only place I trust for surfboard repair, having restored over 15 surfboards. These are the experts. Often I like to drop them off at Birds Surfshed first, so he shares his restoration insights on my vintage boards. Once I used a different repair business, the tail of the surfboard fractured apart on a wave, and it cut an eight inch gash in my foot that took more than a year to recover from. Now, I only go through Joe Roper’s, it’s not worth it to me to go anywhere else.
Always helpful, always great work
The Best of the Best right here!!! OGs
If you want a ding repair done right, Joe Ropers is the only place to go in San Diego. They have been doing repairs longer than I have been alive. As a family owned business, that take pride in the work they do. The staff is super friendly and really know what they are doing. You can do ding repairs yourself, however for the price it is hard to justify not taking it to them. Quick turnaround. Quality work. 5 stars all day!
Big fan of Joe Ropers and the work done at the shop. Ive gotten my longboard repaired here a few times and always have a great experience. They are prompt, kind and do great work on the boards. Its not super cheap but also not crazy expensive, just about what youd expect. The new shop is pretty awesome too. Not the same character as the old shop but feels much more modern and professional.
These guys do great repair work. Usually low repair time on ur favorite stick, good a matching colors, and reasonable prices. Shortboards, fishys, retro/vintage colored sticks- had good repairs in all of em.
Love this place, solid work and by far the best patch jobs around. I’ve taken three of my boards here and every time, they come out better then when I bought them in!
I am a new resident to San Diego and recently got into the sport of surfing. I started of on a Costco wave storm foam board and decided it was time to purchase a real hard-board. I went on craigslist and found a board that had a few dings on it so I took it to Joe Ropers because they were highly recommended. I had a great experience, they got my board all fixed up very nicely, helped me find a leash and board bag for it and took the time to answer all my questions about my new board. I was very pleased. Highly recommended.
Great job! My board was badly damaged and those guys fixed it in a few days. They had to add a block of foam and to reconstruct part of the rail. Now it looks even better than when I bought it.
This is the place to have your surfboards Repairs and refurbished. Great staff
Good stuff, left my board @ the shed. Picked it up @ the shed well repaired, no complaints. Thank you.
I had a lovely experience. I would recommend this shop to anyone. They had great customer service and helped me find a new fin for my longboard I had just bought used in addition to a great repair.
