I have been signed-up with Express Employment Professionals for a few months. I didnt receive any calls for jobs at first but that could be that there were no companies seeking my skill set. I just was placed in an awesome temporary position as a building manager in the downtown area and it has been a fantastic job and is opening new doors for me. So I am very appreciative of Sunny and Shelany and Cameron and Ana at Express. I feel that they are dedicated to finding me work. They are a great resource.

I have not been called in to work for this company since September due to discrimination at hodads at petco park and I was contacted by Ana who first called and asked if I could come in and cook at 11 am for the lunch/ dinner service and I agreed without the knowledge that there was an employee who tested positive for covid19 a week prior until I arrived and Chef Chris informed me when I arrived after being dropped off by a friend who lived in Escondido so I was completely unaware of the circumstances until I had already come from Escondido and my ride left. The executive chef Chris did tell me when I arrived because he said that my employer had not told others prior to arriving and told me he had tested negative and they had taken proper precautions to assure that nothing or anything was contaminated but by the looks of the kitchen surfaces and the floor I was skeptical and i began my own cleaning and sanitization immediately because it was already too late when I walked in the kitchen and I ended up doing a deep scrub on the kitchen floor so I would feel a little safer because it was filthy as well as the surfaces. I also reported to the chef at atria that I saw another temp from the service washing his hands with gloves on two days in a row because I was so uncomfortable with being in the kitchen with a person who had not been washing his hands properly in a high risk environment or a kitchen in general. Chef Chris saw the temp employee and did not send him home due to the cross contamination he told him he shouldn’t do it and 5 minutes later he did it again so after I reported the incident to the head executive chef they began discrimination against me because I had been following the health and safety code and it is my due diligence to report it as I have passed my servsafe and was fully aware of kitchen procedures because I have been hands on in culinary arts and have a certification with hands on experience in a kitchen for 186 hours and I have been in the food industry for 10 years plus consistently doing events and most food related jobs. Ana stopped answering my calls and refused to tell me what was going on after I had reported incidents involving the staff preparing food for at risk senior citizen to sally executive director of atria whom hung up in my face after I notified her of the things going on and the discrimination to follow. This is a horrible company who will do anything for money including but not limited to risking senior citizens lives and the lives of its staff to fulfill a work order and not tell people they are going into a deadly environment. It is my due diligence to report such incidents to the health department of San Diego . The owner of express whom hung up in my face and refused to listen also has a horrible disposition and would rather risk the lives of employees they hired to maintain a contract . They will be reported as well as atria for unethical almost deadly circumstances they have risked my life and senior citizens who are unaware of the conditions of the kitchen and uncleanliness of the staff and have no idea they are not receiving the clean food and preparation deserved by any human being.

Extremely unprofessional business. Multiple interruptions during my onboarding with them. Explained to me how I had little to offer and that I was a “dime a dozen” after a year of law school, multiple years in management for a Fortune 500 company, and years in customer service as a server. I called to inform them I had found work elsewhere, however I received calls on a Friday night at 9:20 asking me to work a job the following day. Do better and be more professional for future employees looking for work.
