What I’ve learned: you will go to a different location after waiting an hour outside to find out on the phone with their customer service that the employee never showed up for work and then they’ll give you a $10 discount for the smog test. The other location will need you to call and verify with customer service the discount so they can hear it for themselves over the phone. The entire process of getting registered will still take 3 hours. They will charge you an extra $100 ($93) for being in the states an extra 10 days than allowed before getting fined for not registering on time. They charged me $400+ and then shortly after said they needed to charge me an additional amount because I had been in the states 8 days longer. You have to register within 20 days or you will be fined $93.The lady kept repeating that she paid over $500 when she registered her car but just because she was dealt with arbitrary red tape, doesn’t make my case any less wrong. It’s still equally wrong. It shouldn’t be diminished by the fact that this “happens all the time”. Is that how we should look at all injustice? Then how do we bring about change?
