I went to Wee Companions for the first time for my two male guinea pigs health check. The location and the people there were very nice. And they did a nice job clipping my piggies nails, ear and boar cleaning. Wee Companions rescue and adopt out guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, and chinchillas, too. They are donation based for their health checks which I was more than happy to give for all the compassionate work they do and support they give.Due to COVID, they took my piggies inside while I waited outside for them. But the door is kept open so I can see the process. I appreciated that a lot because its important to see whats being done and to comfort my piggies with my voice when they were getting antsy.
If you have a small pet, rabbit, guinea pig, rat etc youll want to go here and meet these wonderful ladies. Whether you need advice supplies or a new/additional pet they have it. For a donation they do exams too. Check out their website. Be prepared to adore this place you will want to share it with everyone. I did and some little critters now have loving homes. Including these little girls.
I have been going here 1 year since rescuing a guinea pig. They are amazing. They do health checks and trim my pigs nailsand clean their ears. Everyone knows their stuff. The prices on hay and food are great and help support their mission.
Wonderful rescue center for small animals and their parents. The staff was so nice and helped clip my pigs nails and cleaned their body glands. The supply they have there is wonderful: I got a huge bag of orchard hay for only $7 and the quality is so good that my pigs eat all the hay I put in. Please go to them for adoption, donation, getting supplies, getting help/info and volunteer :)
Just the most amazing place. Antonella is so nice and knowledgeable ...she puts the small animals in a place where they should be...cared for and loved ..
I cant tell you how much I appreciate them, Im actually headed over tomorrow to donate my little guys things. He recently passed away. Anyways I was looking for a pet rat and searched all over. They were very responsive and Antonella assisted me in meeting a little rat I had my eye on but when I got there she also introduced me to a little guy named Lipton and we both knew he was meant for me. I just loved him so much. He was such a sweetheart and so silly and he never ran away, we had an open door policy (inside!) for him for his cage, we never closed it. Recently passed away and Im still heartbroken but I thank Wee Companions every day for the chance to have been a mama to my little angel.
I needed help buying a tank for my small animal, so I messaged them on there Facebook someone obviously saw it but didnt answer, Why should I have to wait on someone who obviously saw my message but didnt answer, And the prices are overpriced by so much, Pet kingdom is better and prices are legit half the price here... poor customer service, dont recommend going, And people say employees are been rude there also
Love them and there cause! Been going for years for adoptions, habitats, pet food and accessories, pet advice, knowledge in health care and education.Everyone needs to know about Wee Companions!
Thank you so much for doing a quick heath check on my new baby!Petco failed !!! Thank you so much for all your help🐾💜🐾
Knowledgeable and helpful staff. We adopted two guinea pigs and since wed never had them in our care before, we had a lot of questions which they have always been happy to answer. Theyre doing a great job and a real service to these animals.
Dont Shop, Adopt! Wee Companions is the BEST place in San Diego to find a furry friend.
Amazing organization run by wonderful human beings.
Wee Companions is the best small animal resource that I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with! They help me to take good care of my guinea pigs! :)
The BEST place to go to adopt small animals! Please dont go to a pet store when theres so much bad information provided from stores and theres so many animals that need homes. Wee Companions has so many little animals from Hamster, Guinea Pig, and even Rats. All companion animals looking for a home and waiting for you to take them home!
Very good customer service wasnt able to go inside but the young ladies that were outside were so friendly
We adopted our female Guinea Pigs (we named Wilma and Betty) on clear the shelters day. We are so happy we went to Wee Companions. They are incredibly knowledgeable and truly care about the animals. The volunteers were very friendly and helpful, if you are thinking about it just go take a look. All of the animals looked clean, happy and well taken care of. They have pet materials, fresh hay, and just about anything you need to get started so if you have room in your heart or home for a small animal this is the #1 rescue I recommend!! Ps. Check their hours, they are worth the wait
My 15 year old daughter got the pet rat shes been wanting. He is very mellow and we are so excited to have him as his new forever home. Yeah Im cornball. But they had lots of Guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, chinchillas... Also was nice because they sell all the supplies and food and even have a 2nd hands items section to get the necessities without going into debt.
They know their stuff and care so deeply about these animals!
We love Wee Companions! Adopted our Guinea pig here, get our boar care here and board our 2 guinea pigs here❤
Caring people finding good homes for the Wee pets!
Extremely clean, caring, lovely facility! Loved it!
We got both our little piggies from here and continue to get our supplies from their shop. They are very knowledgeable and sweet in dealing with the animals. They help us with our piggies whenever we have an inquiry to this day. Support this great rescue.
Very helpful getting our Guinea pigs boar care done, because of covid19 they have their setup outside by the entrance and they are keeping the social distancing guidelines stated by our government which is really important. They have an updated schedule so check constantly in case it changes. They also have all kinds of new and used supplies for your little critters in excellent condition and just in case you forgot your face mask, they have really cute ones for sale and at a great price! Dont forget to donate for their great cause!
Hands down the best place to take your small animals for grooming or if you can no longer take care of your little companions. The owner was very professional, knowledgeable, and saved precious regis
Just adopted a guinea pig from there, they will be very patient during the bonding process and will teach you about guinea pigs while you wait, they sell food and toys at heavy discounts. Adopting from here is 100x times better than petco/smart.
We love this place. It is worth the drive for us, because they have fresh timothy hay for our little guinea pig. They also do health checks and baths. Great prices on treats, food, and supplies. Support your local rescue and buy from them instead of going to a pet store or ordering online.
Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff. We adopted our guinea pigs here and appreciated the time they took to answer our questions and help us understand how to best take care of them. There is a great shop next door that offers used crates, cages, and equipment which helps save on expenses. Boarding, bathing, and nail clipping are also available for a donation fee.
Wee Companions is an amazing rescue. I cannot believe I am just now reviewing them. I started fostering animals with them a long time ago and have adopted all of my little family members from Fenella and her crew. Fenella is an incredible lady. She devotes so much of her time to making sure guineas, rats, hamster, bunnies and other little furry critters find their forever home. If you are looking for a new little guy or a partner for one you already have, please check out Wee Companions. They are truly amazing and I won’t go anywhere else.
They are the best! Ive recommended Wee Companions many times to families looking to adopt small pets. Antonella is so helpful and makes sure we make the best decisions when we adopt ratties. All of the staff know their stuff and have been very kind and patient. They sell gently used supplies, including cages and carriers. The pet food and treats are much, much better quality than what pet stores sell.
Wonderful organization!!
Such a wonderful rescue with amazing people and quality supplies for rodents.
Im looking for a small dog .....interesting with all they do at this rescue
They are very compassionate about placing their animals.
Historically, this has been a well run and very supportive organization for the fur babies they provide and the families they are adopted in to.
Volunteers are so patient and helpful! They genuinely want these piggies to find a nice home. They are all so knowledgeable and educate pet owners while they are shopping in the store. They have great new/used supplies for cheap! No need to go to a pet store because they have anything you will need. Cannot speak anymore highly of this place!
Love this place! The people that work here are all volunteers who love animals and are truly experts! They will also clip your small creatures nails for you or bathe them for whatever donation you offer! They also do boarding - again for a donation. They also run a second-hand store where you can buy lots of different cages and pet supplies for reduced costs.
Staff is very helpful. They helped me find a good companion for my other male piggy. We have boarded them there twice now. Always get them back bathed and content. They run on donations, they do not charge for boarding so generous donations help keep them in business. I love what they are doing for these little homeless cuties!
This place has a lot to offer when it comes to small animals, great supplies and pets for adoption. They are also compassionate people and are helping my family with our rats in a time of need. Check it out and dont forget to donate if you can.....they do excellent work!
Great place! They are an awesome rescue who truly cares about getting their animals into good homes. Product prices are outstanding!
Great place for supplies & the cutest, sweetest critters!
Theyre not very friendly. They have very expensive items that I can get half the price on the internet. THEY DONT LET YOU TOUCH ANYTHING EVEN AFTER WE SANITIZED OUR HANDS, KEEP OUR DISTANCE AND WEAR A MASK. THEY ARE RUDE. THEY DONT TREAT US THIS WAY AT A GROCERY STORE
Such kind people. They care about finding the right match for you.
I have never done a small animal adoption through an adoption center such as this before. I normally would buy all my little rats in pet stores and say I was saving each small life from a horrible fate. But I was impressed with this adoption of my two adorable little dumbo rats. I didnt feel rushed in making a decision, even though I wish I could have adopted them all. I will definitely return in the future.
I got my rats here! They were well socialized. The volunteers really love rodents. Store also has good services and a huge toy selection. Everything you need for your little friend.
SOOO CUTE i love my guinea pigs thank you Wee Companions
As a customer, I very much enjoyed this place, as hey help guide you through the specific needs of your pet and equip you to care for them. Every interaction is personal and human. My respect is well justified, as the amount of care and love these volunteers give to the animals is unrivaled anywhere.
Do they have female chinchillas?
Cute rodent faces every Saturday! I Go for a thing or two every few months for my own piggertons, only to say hi to an additional 20 that need homes. I love it here.
They need lots of donations so they can continue to do the great work that they do.
We have adopted three guinea pigs from Wee Companions over the past year and a half. We had never had guinea pigs before. The volunteers (no paid staff) care very much about finding good matches for their small friends. The first time we came in to adopt, they gave us some hay to take home for a week, to make sure allergies would not be a problem. We also got to audition several animals to make sure our younger son, whose pets these primarily are, bonded with them. The Wee Companions volunteers are well informed about health and behavior of their animals, and they provide helpful handouts about feeding and care, veterinarian referrals, and a couple of Youtube videos on bathing and nail clipping. We continue to shop at Wee Companions for pellets, Vitamin C tablets, and hay, and also to board our pets there when we go on vacation. Highly recommended if you are thinking about making a guinea pig, rat, hamster, or rabbit part of your family.
Not that helpful. Was hoping theyd know of ways to transport pets like guineapigs from Texas to Illinois. Instead they suggested surrender, but only on Fridays when I have no way to get there >_< staff sounded nice and all, but still.
Excellent place to pickup supplies for your small pet. Very friendly people and a real good place to adopt a small animal
Great advice and high quality supplies for your small animals. Plus there are gently used supplies available here and afordable bulk grasses.
Friendly and knowledgeable. Great value for supplies and care.
I cannot speak highly enough of Wee Companions for both adoptions, education, supplies and as a boarding facility. Although only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays (since it is volunteer-run and animals do not live in the center, but rather in a loving home except when they are presented as available for adoption on Weds and Sats), it is well worth the wait for those two days to visit!
Great experience all the way around. Everyone involved loves the animals and knows a lot about them.
Great place for adopting small animals and buying their supplies.
Giving it 4 & a half 🌟s to the location of this place. All good here and I get along well enough...
Great place for small animals like Guinea pigs, rabbits, and rats. The volunteers are informative and helpful.
Love the staff and their commitment to giving animals a loving foster home prior to adopting them out to loving fur ever homes. I’ve adopted from here two separate occasions.
Great place to visit and purchase items for pets.
Does Not Take In guinea pigs they are booked like a sold out hotel.
We got the best hamster here and they sell used hamster cages.
The work they do is great! Friendly staff thats dedicated to the animals.
I have already bought six guinea pigs and a hedgehog from this place. I love it!
Wonderful place, with dedicated people.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff with a great selection of jealthy wee companions.
Really great rescue group and their shop has all of your little critter needs! Dont shop, adopt!!!
This place is so thoughtful and great
Needed assistance rehoming a chinchilla after being referred by a veterinarian and they never replied to any emails or calls
Fantastic group of caring people saving the wee ones!
