Last night my husband surprised me with a dinner date at one of our favorite places and we sat right across from the sushi bar were the owner was working and helping out with the orders and I got to tell you all of the staff give 110 percent all & kind hard-working people To go the extra mile to make sure that we are happy and satisfied with our food my husband has a stage four cancer patient and has to have a walker of a chair at times and they always make accommodation. So if you’re looking for one of the best places in town to eat you must choose this restaurant thank you to all the staff
We were lucky enough to be able to get a reservation before the evening rush. We were seated by the sushi chef area, where we could see all the action take place. Not my preference, but still a decent spot to sit overall. The waitress was very attentive and respectful, and also had a few more employees confirm with us to see if we were enjoying ourselves. So, i give them a check for hospitality. The sushi rolls were very nice. I enjoyed the more bite size friendly peices that they offer, compared to other sushi restaurants. I also appreciate that the rolls that had sauces on them were not totally drenched, so we could experience the flavor of the ingredients inside the roll. My one downside is that my dragon roll did have a few bones from the eel, so that resulted in me not finishing the rest of the roll. Overall satisfied. I plan to be back in the distant future.4/5
Excellent place for Japanese food. Serves a wide variety of seafood, meats, poultry and salads. They also have a wide selection fine wines to go with your meal. I been coming here since 2002, and this place doesnt miss with high quality food and service. Recently remodeled, the restaurant has been expanded to accommodate more people, handle group dinners, and functions. I recommend this restaurant to friends that are visiting San Antonio.
I really dont like this kind of food, I really went there for our son in law n our grandson to celebrate there birthday. It was edible I got to taste other foods but didnt like it
Food was delicious! Generous portions, too. Service was excellent! Thank you for such an enjoyable dining experience.
My Waiter is very knowledgeable in almost the full menu & our drinks we never empty. I was not able to capture a snap shot, for i was already to dig into this delicious cuisine!
The best sushi place in San Antonio!!! Went here a couple of times and they never disappoints. Service was excellent and very friendly staff. 5stars!!
This was the first Sushi Restaurant I tried in San Antonio when I moved here. My fiancé brought me on a cute little date. The restaurant is very nice. If youre looking for a nice place, this is definitely the spot to go to. I didnt know what to order so my experience wasnt the best and our server was lacking personality and hospitality. The sushi was great. Maybe next time Ill have a better server and turn my review into a 5 star one!
Always love going to Sushihana. Staff are attentive and friendly. Food is always fresh and delicious.
Went here for my anniversary. The food is absolutely delicious and they have an extensive list of sushi options. I opted to add on the house salad to my meal and it was the perfect starter. The staff are very polite and service was excellent.
My sister and I come to San Antonio every summer and this is the place to go. They have the best rice I’ve ever tasted and always have me leaving with a smile on face. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy next year!
The atmosphere was great and the restaurants in a great location. The service was good clean and fast and the waiter kept drinks refilled. I highly recommend Andrew as your server. Appetizers were awesome we had combination fried rice and spicy edamame. We had sushi rolls and the dominion ribeye was cooked to perfection the mashed potatoes were a hit and the sauce put it over the top. One of the supervisors Austin was making his rounds and stopped by to make sure we were having the best experience possible. It’s always nice to see management on the service floor making sure their customers are taken care of. Very good menu and drink selection. Please give this restaurant a try if you’re looking to elevate your palate. Happy eating!!!
WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY better than benihana. (fr this is the best sushi in San Antonio though)
Love this place. I havent been in a while. They remodeled and it looks great. Their sushi is always delicious.
Amazing and friendly service! Our waitress was familiar with the drink/entree/sushi menu and had recommendations for us! The portions were HUGE and tasted so wonderful with inspiring presentation! Even just reading the menu made my mouth water! I would recommend this place to anyone and would love to come back for any occasion!
Went here for lunch and the food was amazing! Ill have to come for dinner but the lunch grilled Scottish salmon with ginger soy butter was so good. The restaurant was clean. We did have to make a reservation for the patio and the staff checked your temperature before being sat. I will definitely be back.
Great fresh food, great service, great atmosphere.Note...they get busy. Reservations may not be required, but the wait may be long. I highly suggest making a reservation.
During COVID times, they’ve made a lot of changes to their procedures and they’re fantastic. I would suggest making a reservation. They take your temp and ask you to sanitize going in. The tables are nicely spaced and the wait staff is still polite and wonderful. Their food speaks for itself, we always get the bacon fried rice with steak and it’s heavenly. Highly recommend.
Excellent restaurant. Was tired of waiting at a different place about 5 miles from here but am glad that I came! It is located on military hwy and cross street of Zornia Dr, and actually a little difficult to recognize driving on the street because their sign is quite small. They have a outside parking lot with plenty of parking spaces all around the restaurant. The interior decor is very Japanese and semi-modern. Ordered their salmon sashimi, soft shell crab, tamago, and chicken yakitori. Extremely tasty although the sauce for the soft shell crab is on the saltier side. The soft shell crab itself was amazing; never seen it coming as an entire crab shaped! Salmon was very fresh, tamago was sweet & savory. The chicken was also pretty decent with mixed onions and carrot strips, which compliments the taste well.Waitress was attentive and friendly. The manager, which I later found the name was Luis, came to my table a few times to check and making sure everything was kosher. Awesome customer service! Will definitely come back if around the area. Keep up the good work Sushihana!
Mediocre food at best, coupled with an overpriced menu. I’ve had better sushi/sashimi in small towns with less food variety even, extremely disappointed. Not worth a 2nd try
We had never been hear till 2019. And weve eaten here 5 times already. Lunch and dinner specials are very good at a great price. Service is good. My only complaint is 2 of the 5 times we have been here, the server forgot our miso soup and house salads. We had enough to eat but its the principal. At least their consistent. No matter well keep going back.
Seafood Udon is worse than ever! They piled up with tons of cheap veggies such like broccolis, zucchini…and then chunks of salmons also some other white fish. The problem is the soup came out cool, not hot. I had to dig down far to find the noodles and some broth, the broth was bland and cold, so are the fish. What a big disappointed!!
Sushihana in Castle Hills is our go to spot for sushi. My wife and I have tried many sushi spots around San Antonio, and we always say that Sushihana set the bar high. We always regret going anywhere else. The chefs are knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend asking for an omakase set where you let the chef choose their best cuts of fish. I dont know of any other sushi restaurant in town that flaunts their fresh fish on social media. I love seeing on Instagram when they get a huge tuna in the shop, or they have come up with a new masterful dish. If you love sushi, you need to try Sushihana!Update: 20190511The Siberian Caviar and Peruvian Uni were delicious! You have to try it!
The tempura is outstanding. It is light, crispy and so flavorful. There is so many sauces, that can make each dip a tasteful delicacy. The shrimp is so soft, you hardly know you are eating shrimp. The asparagus fries are absolutely wonderful. They were suggested to us by our waiter and he was spot on. Even the sauce that was with them was heavenly. Highly suggest the asparagus fries. After leaving Okinawa, it has become a real treat to remind us of some of the Japanese cusine we miss so much. Definitely, a more contemporary flair to the more traditional Japanese foods. The only food I miss that I didnt see on menu was Tonkatsu. May ask for it next time.Even the music piped in is enjoyable.
They obviously dont need yet another glowing review, but Ill leave one anyway. Last night was our first time at Sushihana but it will not be our last. Its a lovely, spacious restaurant taking social distancing and Covid checks quite seriously. They were very accommodating and our waiter, Adam, was outstanding. The sushi was fresh and the rolls showed great imagination and taste. The veggie tempura blew us away, as well. Thanks for a fantastic experience!
Still the best sushi in town... even their miso soup is outstanding! I miss going in and eating at the restaurant but take out whenever Im in that part of town.Lovely folk, as well.
Love this place. Sushi is great quality. Nice wine selection. Server was super helpful and informative. Worth the price.
I liked the person serving us. He was nice. The food was also amazing. You do have to make a reservation, but its a good idea to plan ahead.
Calamari appetizer is the best Ive ever had! Food is always good! Very consistent.
I dont appreciate having my temperature checked, answer health questions and requiring to give my phone number to dine here.Have you heard of HIPA?While I enjoy the food, theres Three Other Sushi Restaurants within Two Miles, Ill go to instead.Bye!😬😡
The Crazy roll was so good,it had a unique and satisfying taste. A lot of the dishes have a hint of sweetness or tanginess, from the Gyoza to the Miso soup. I ordered from the lunch menu and it was reasonably priced. A sushi roll,a gyoza appetizer, miso soup x2,2 entrées and a beer was 62. Not bad.
One of my favorite Japanese cuisines places in San Antonio. Their staff is always prompt and polite and the restaurant is very clean and open! The ambience and vibes given from this location are top notch and have never had a bad service for either lunch or dinner!A wide selection of main dishes and sushi, everything on the menu is likely to be delicious. This past weekend I had their chicken udon soup (favorite dish) and their grilled vegetable medley roll for my girlfriend who is a vegetarian.
This is my Wife and I’s absolute favorite place for Sushi! We used to go to another place but it sadly closed down so we started coming here and won’t ever look back! Couple of points:First off, I want to point out the exceptional service. I personally have only been here twice so far (my wife a few more times), but the servers have both been exceptional. My first experience was special as we were celebrating my bell ringing ceremony (just finished chemo). I had finally been approved to eat raw fish by my doctor (can’t eat that on chemo unfortunately and it’s my favorite) so we came here. I told the server my situation and was basically wondering what would be the “freshest”/safest items to get when it comes to raw fish. He informed me that the restaurant gets their frozen fish shipment every 2 weeks and breaks down the fish all in-house. Many other restaurants sometimes buy already cut/cleaned fish (which means it could have been frozen multiple times, lowering the freshness). Also a side note, all fish sold in the US with the intention of being served raw must be flash frozen to a certain temperature to kill any parasites (so you do want it to be frozen at least once). I really appreciated the server taking the time to explain all this to me cause it really made me feel better about dining here! Our second server, Samuel, was just as nice and accommodating. He was friendly, gave us great recommendations and we’ve just had such a great experience with all of the staff. The restaurant manager (or possibly owner, not sure) goes around to make sure everyone is doing well and that’s really appreciated! Now, the food. Sushi is my favorite food (as I’ve mentioned) so I’ve had a decent amount, in many different places across the country (and San Antonio), but this place is some of the best I’ve had. The fish is extremely fresh and flavorful. I can appreciate both sides of the spectrum when it comes to sushi. I love a good piece of sashimi or nigiri, dipped gingerly in a small amount of soy sauce to accentuate the flavors of the fish. But at the same time, I can dig a deep fried roll topped with extra eel sauce and immersed in spicy Mayo. Sushihana has both types of pallets covered, traditionalist and more Americanized! I’m not usually one to order appetizers but you HAVE to order the Spicy Edamame. Just trust me. My wife recommended it to me and I kinda blew it off (why would I waste valuable stomach space on anything besides sushi) but it’s a must-have now. It’s the best, out of any restaurant, hands down. Honestly, I could eat like 3 lbs of that stuff, it’s so good. We save the sauce it comes with and dip some of our sushi in it. We have also tried their mini chocolate cake/ice cream and that’s fantastic as well.Definitely give this place a try, I guarantee, you will not be disappointed!
Best fried rice ever!!! I come here whenever Im in the area. Love their bento boxes for lunch too.And dinner is always amazing. Their sushi is top notch.
Came in for lunch with the family. Food was ok but feel there is definitely better sushi spots in the area. Mainly the staff seemed a bit on edge and very quite and akward. Manager wasnt too friendly. I dont normally leave reviews but a received a Google notification on my phone asking so I figured Id give my honest experience. Lol I wouldnt mind trying agian in the future but not the first place that comes to mind when it comes to sushi.
Great food, but waiter had too many tables to wait on. It took him a while between table visits when we needed something refilled or attended.
Superb food, fresh sushi and great service! Very happy with my experience here, will be back.
The place had awesome service and had good food and drinks and it was very traditional yet still modern at the same time
Havent had good sushi in awhile and chose this spot based on ratings. Pretty sure youll find this place at the top of the list and believe me theres a reason why. By far top sushi place in San Antonio. Im talking about some serious prime sushi here. Super fresh. Super tasteful. The presentation and plating is obviously done by true artists. It IS a very nice establishment and youll know that seeing how well dressed the patrons are. Wonderful atmosphere and service is professional. Definitely make this a stop on your list.
First time I went to Sushihana was like 5 years ago and it was OK. We went about a year ago and we really liked it. Went again about 3 months ago and loved it! It has now became our favorite Sushi place in San Antonio, we go a lot! It has super fresh sushi with awesome combinations. The best spicy edamame and the best chiles toreados you will have in San Antonio! It is a little overpriced but you are getting great quality. I really wish they could improve their service though, some waiters act as if they hated to be there. Other than that an amazing place! I strongly recommend Summer, Diablo and Duncan rolls!
Appetizers and meal was amazing . Desserts were small and not worth it, the ice cream was literally a big tablespoon. We had called ahead for a reservation for our 1st year anniversary. When we arrived, we were sat in front of the bar on a table that looked liked no one wanted. We asked to move which then were sat at a better table with a little more privacy setting. The cooks are amazing our food came out fast and delicious. The manager had little to no social skills. Seems like Celebrating anything special here doesn’t really mean much.
Fresh tasty food. Every time.
We ordered take away. We got a chicken teriyaki dish and the sea bass. The bass is the most amazing thing you can eat. It is so tender. Worth the high price. The sauce is a perfect complement. The chicken was also excellent, according to my husband.
Amazing food, super clean, awesome customer service! I strongly recommend this place for anyone who loves sushi or want to try sushi for the first time! I brought someone who never had sushi before and due to how fresh and amazing the taste was she is now hooked. I can not say enough great things about this place and our waiter was amazing!! He is very knowledgeable and had awesome suggestions of sushi to try . Be sure to ask for him, his name is Alejandro
I asked for a cup for the green tea (which I ordered and didnt get). They gave me a nasty cup that was obviously dirty. I tried to clean it with my napkin to see if it was just stained. To my disgust, it all whiped off. Very disappointed in a usually great restaurant.
Amazing service and food. This has been my favorite restaurant for years. They take covid regulations and contact tracing very seriously.
Over ratedOver pricedNot authentic Japanese Food actually a TexMex version of Japanese food.Has to get up find the server for my check1st clue was no Asian customers1st & Last Visit
The blue fin tuna was a treat, the service is great and attention to detail by their chefs is exquisite. Went in a date here and can say we both loved it. Ill be bringing friends and family here when they are visiting san antonio.
The food is always excellent and consistent. Andy, the server, gives great customer service and remembers me each time I come in. I love the pork chops and the tenderloin! I dont even eat sushi and I love this place. Atmosphere is wonderful.
I was very impressed by the quality of the fish here; Sushihana is my new go to sushi restaurant
Very surprised by the quality. must be owned and payed by one kamaaina. A little slow on the service and a bit pricey for the quarter but for Texas they know what there doing.
This is my favorite place in town and our first in-person dining experience since COVID. These folks are ON IT with the safety. Also, their new curbside pick-up system is great. The food is GREAT. My only question is why have a never seen a female waitress (only female hostesses) despite the fifty times I have eaten here? That needs to be fixed. It appears they have a 100% male wait staff?
Delicious. Be ready to drop some $ but its not just about the food. My friend said that it reminded her of New York. Everyone sits close with fast movement going on all around. So not a sleepy town vibe with lots of elbow room. As for the menu, we felt it could of offered a few more Kato friendly dishes. The sea bass and The Imperial bowl were two of the dishes we had. We actually had a conversation. Lol
Attentive service. Variety of fresh interesting rolls. For the slightly adventurous eater, the ama ebi is not to be missed.
The sushi was good but I can only give three stars due to the length of time it took for me to receive my order. From the time I placed my order to when I received my food nearly an hour had passed. When my order arrived I had ask them to pack it up to go as I had to leave for work. And when they packed it up up the heads fory amaebi was not included. So in conclusion if you want to eat here make sure you have more than an hour to eat.Went back at lunch time to try again. The sushi was once again excellent if a little pricey compared to other places with similar quality but not outrageously so. However the service time was much better with my order coming out within twenty minutes of ordering. Not sure what happened the first time with the huge delay but I will upgrade the rating to match the second experience.
Absolutely amazing environment, had excellent gyoza and calamari. The Diablo roll was out of this world!
Always a great experience when we visit Sushihana. The food and service is always exceptional.
Great food and service!
Had to wait more than an hour for my pick-up order, and I was never told it would it would take that long. People coming after me for dine in got their food much sooner. The manager was not helpful at all.
Steak was good, the rolls are okay. Service was great and very clean
Amazing!! Great food and excellent customer service. Adrianna out service was awesome!
The managers, Kimberley and Zoe were extremely rude to us to the point where we just got our food to go and left, even though we were celebrating a friends going away. Our server tried to salvage the dinner and make us feel slightly better but the managers made us feel horrible. I have been in the restaurant business over five years and have never experienced something like this before. The food is truly great but I’m not willing to go somewhere and be treated so poorly. I might consider doing to go one day but as of now this is the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
This has always been one of my favorite sushi spots in SA. The fish is fresh and they can make anything gluten free. The Duncan roll, fried rice and spicy edamame are my favorites.
