My experience with the local person at the Salt Lake City location, Mimi, could not have been better. She explained everything thoroughly and worked with me every step of the way. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful 11 day trip where we drove nearly 2200 miles and visited 5 national parks. The only complaint we had was the side, slide window was very loud. We tried everything we could to latch it but it would not close all the way. We saw where someone had tried to stuff toilet paper in the gap to presumably muffle the noise. We weren’t going to let that ruin our trip so we just dealt with it. Well about halfway through our trip we were driving down the highway and the window just exploded. The slide portion of the window had broken leaving glass everywhere on the inside of the vehicle. I immediately called the roadside assistance number provided and they proceeded to tell me that it was my responsibility and that I needed to take it somewhere to be fixed or deal with it until we returned it. I pulled into a grocery store lot and luckily they were able to provide me with some boxes and duct tape and we made it work. We were actually happy the glass broke because the noise it was making was driving us crazy. No window, no noise. Anyway we drove and slept in the unit for 5 more days with the patch job and had a wonderful time. When we returned the unit they wanted $700 for the window. This was obviously a manufacturer defect and they said I was responsible. After Mimi argued for me with corporate they reduced it to $400. We were late for our flight so I had to accept that. Overall we spent over $3000 on this unit and they gouged us for more. Ridiculous. I will never deal with this company again. They only care about the bottom line and have zero care for the customer experience. Way to ruin the perfect trip El Monte, hope you’re happy.
Dropped off an RV from the Coachmen factory in Indiana.Pleasant, professional, easy. All good!
The vehicle in itself was good. However, when we returned the RV, we had to pay 535 bucks for just a tiny scratch even though we were in the vip full-coverage insurance. The insurance that they offer doesn’t cover the damage less than 1000 bucks so you might wanna consider protecting yourself with another insurance on top of the one that they offer
Lots to unpack here. TL, DR: the left hand doesnt talk to the right hand at this location.Made the reservations over the phone. NOBODY mentioned the $1000 due at the time of rental, which can ONLY be paid by Credit Card. They took $250 over the phone.. which I thought was a deposit.. but didnt explain this this would be put towards my rental fees, and didnt mention the $1000 credit card hold at time of rental. This location is a subsidiary of some other transportation company. El Monte RV rentals is one of the services they provide. Its difficult to find the location, also. The RV itself was in good shape, and the staff showed us how to use it.We told them we were going out to the Bonneville Salt Flats. They smiled and said have a good time! and made no mention of cleaning fees. (more about this later)We were instructed to return the RV full of gas, but the RV was slightly above Half when we received it. So the first thing I did was put $35 worth of gas into it.We went out the Salt Flats for 2 days, had a good time. Almost ran out of fresh water, not sure if the tank was full when we got the RV.The salt was damp, and stuck to the tires, the underside of the vehicle, and our shoes. When we departed, I went to the Flying J Travel center in Tooele (sp?) and dumped both the grey and black tanks (in that order) for a charge of $10. Took about 30 minutes.Supposed to have the RV returned by 11am.. we got it back at noon.We had to wait over an hour to turn the RV back in at the El Monte office. We unloaded our stuff and swept out the inside with a small brush (we brought this.. theres no brooms or brushes included with the RV)During this time, I crawled under the vehicle and knocked off most of the encrusted salt with the hard part of the brush. We finally got checked out about 1pm.They charged us a $75 cleaning fee for the salt, but gave us $35 credit for the extra gas I put in the vehicle, as I returned it full of gas (per original instructions) I kept all my gas receipts to show them. So I paid $51 at checkout. Fair enough.Spent about $600 for 2.5 days, had a good time, was comfortable in the wilderness. But with that $1000 credit card hold and the unpredictable service, Im not sure Ill rent an RV again. If I do, Ill explore other rental options.
This place was AWFUL. TERRIBLE customer service. The brunette lady who runs the front desk and checks people in was VERY rude and unprofessional. When I asked how long it would take to get a camper (after she made us wait 1hr) she proceeded to tell me she was “doing me a favor”... WHO TALKS TO A CUSTOMER LIKE THAT???The RV was NOT cleaned, we even found a toddlers sock in one of the beds, we were not traveling with toddlers. You would think during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC this company would provide adequate cleaning to all mobile homes. If I could rate this place a negative star I would. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER using this company.Never again will I choose El Monte.
Front desk lady is very rude. They forget to put electric cable in and charge extra fees with really really really bad attitude!!! And super terrible customer service. I didn’t even finish my words.
Very friendly and fast drop off!
Utilized there services last summer. Honestly the receptionist was pretty poor at acknowledging or helping us. Outside of that the service was pretty good. Gentleman that did the walk through was nice and informative as it was my first time renting an RV. Didnt get hit with any extra charges after our stay and the RV ran great.
There was a dead bird under the mattress!!!!If you return unclean they will charge 200$ for cleaning, but they rented with dead bird under the mattress. We did not notice first because the high A/C, just later we were wondering what is that stench in the back of the rv.
We rented a C22 for a week long mountain biking trip to Moab. The RV was very clean and in great condition. The rates were affordable and service was quick and efficient. I would definitely rent from here again. My only complaint was the cheesy 90s VHS video we had to watch before renting. Apparently youre supposed to turn the key away from you to start the engine? Go figure...
Reservation process was great, thank you Denise. However I tried contacting the SLC pickup location multiple b.v times to ask some questions the main line couldnt. No one ever answered, and no one ever returned my messages. Tried calling them multiple times the day before pickup, and had same issue...no answer, no message return. Tried the main number for help, they couldnt get anyone b.v to answer either. We were told they would contact the manager and have them call us ASAP. NO CALL. Tried calling several times in the morning on day of pickup, no answer. Called main office, they couldnt get anyone either...again. Was told they would email someone and to call back in 30 minutes. Finally got call from SLC, acted like nothing was wrong. Arranged pickup. Will add to review after trip.
Nice, small, family-run business. They are one of the best motorhome rentals in the region.
Bad maintaned and old RV for a very high rate.....never ever again El Monte Salt Lake City. Comment from El Monte: sorry......yes sorry we choosed this company....
